The connection that should necessarily establish the tango dancers for performing the act of tango could prove to be an ideal therapeutic setting to work interpersonal, communicative and erotic skills. Indeed, the requirement of tango of grasping all at once, the intention and the gesture (motor registry), the vision, the hearing and the proprioception (sensory register), as well as acknowledgement of the emotion produced in his own body and in of his/her partner, has great benefit.

This article, devoted specifically to gynaecological cancers and their impact on the sexual and marital lives, is a collaboration between the psychologists and onco-gynaecologist within a cancer center. In oncology, gynaecological cancers' treatments involve at the same time anatomical, physiological and functional modifications impacting, in a major way, on the sexual life of women. All the phases of the sexual answer can be touched. Beyond the physical and aesthetic consequences of the treatments, the sexual dysfunctions are generally caused by the deep psychological upheaval induced by the disease affecting a strongly invested female body. Female cancer is also a true test for the couple challenged in its emotional, functional and sexual cohesion: emotional distress, attachment link dysfunction, change of role within the couple, disordered state of communication. The couple cannot survive and find a harmonious intimate life without communication about sexual health between the medical team, the patient and her partner. All doctors and nurses must be able to initiate the subject throughout the course of care by respecting four prerequisites: to be aware of the importance to approach this subject, to create a climate of trust, to dare the questions and to respect the rhythm of the patient and her partner., (Copyright © 2015 Société Française du Cancer. Communication can be defined as a verbal and non verbal exchange of thoughts and emotions. While verbal communication deficit in Alzheimer's disease is well documented, very little is known about gestural communication, especially in interpersonal situations. This study examines the production of gestures and its relations with verbal aspects of communication. Three patients suffering from moderately severe Alzheimer's disease were compared to three healthy adults. Each one were given a series of pictures and asked to explain which one she preferred and why. The interpersonal interaction was video recorded. Analyses concerned verbal production (quantity and quality) and gestures. Gestures were either non representational (i.e., gestures of small amplitude punctuating speech or accentuating some parts of utterance) or representational (i.e., referring to the object of the speech). Representational gestures were coded as iconic (depicting of concrete aspects), metaphoric (depicting of abstract meaning) or deictic (pointing toward an object). In comparison with healthy participants, patients revealed a decrease in quantity and quality of speech. Nevertheless, their production of gestures was always present. This pattern is in line with the conception that gestures and speech depend on different communicational systems and look inconsistent with the assumption of a parallel dissolution of gesture and speech. Moreover, analyzing the articulation between verbal and gestural dimensions suggests that representational gestures may compensate for speech deficits. It underlines the importance for the role of gestures in maintaining interpersonal communication.

Social skills enable us to adapt to situational contexts in accordance with specific social and cultural norms. Problems with social skills are frequently observed in people with autism. Adapted speech therapy can be offered in order to help each patient become better integrated into society and to interact with others.

Background: The Prenahtest study investigated the efficacy of a couple-oriented HIV counselling session (COC) in encouraging couple HIV counselling and testing, and improving intra-couple communication about sexual and reproductive health. We report here on the effect of COC on intra-couple communication about HIV., Methods: Within this 4-country trial (India, Georgia, Dominican Republic and Cameroon), 484 to 491 pregnant women per site were recruited and individually randomized to receive either the COC intervention, enhanced counselling with role playing, or standard post-test HIV counselling. Women were interviewed at recruitment, before HIV testing (T0), and 2 to 8 weeks after post-test HIV counselling (T1). Four dichotomous variables documented intra-couple communication about HIV at T1: 1) discussion about HIV, 2) discussion about condom use, 3) suggesting HIV testing and 4) suggesting couple HIV counselling to the partner. An intra-couple HIV communication index was created: low degree of communication ("yes" response to zero or one of the four variables), intermediate degree of communication ("yes" to two or three variables) or high degree of communication ("yes" to the four variables). To estimate the impact of COC on the intra-couple HIV communication index, multivariable logistic regressions were conducted., Results: One thousand six hundred and seven women were included in the analysis of whom 54 (3.4%) were HIV-infected (49 in Cameroon). In the four countries, the counselling group was associated with intra-couple HIV communication (P≤0.03): women allocated to the COC group were significantly more likely to report high or intermediate degrees of intra-couple communication about HIV (versus low degree of communication) than women allocated to standard counselling., Conclusion: COC improved short-term communication about HIV within couples in different sociocultural contexts, a positive finding for a couple approach to HIV prevention., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier Masson SAS. Social support refers to the presence of individuals providing emotional or material resources. Its four components are: integration, structure, function, and quality. This article presents empirical and theoretical data, as well as criticism of studies which examine the relationship between social support, global health and cardiovascular health, also evaluating direct or moderating contributions to the adoption and maintenance of health behaviours in persons with cardiovascular disease. Concrete implications for nursing practice are reviewed.

Clinicians and parents are familiar with the fact that adolescents have a special vocabulary, but very few studies have examined this. Linguists describe it as deeply metaphoric, creative and lively, thus showing that young people have a deep knowledge of language and truly experience pleasure using words. This contrasts with teachers' complaints about the little taste adolescents show for oral school activities and how poorly they express themselves. Some of them link this to the use of this polysemic and all purpose vocabulary. The context of locution is probably the explanation for these diverging opinions. Using this hypothesis, we have realised a quantitative study of the lexical variations depending on the person the adolescent is talking to in two groups (20 and 19 subjects), from very different social and educational backgrounds. Each teen-ager had to perform the same linguistic task: the description of a photograph on two occasions, once with an adult examiner and once with a friend. We studied the lexical differences between the two narratives. When adolescents are together they use their particular vocabulary four times more than when with an adult. But this qualitative difference is not a quantitative one, such as the length of the narrative or the number and repetition of whole words, and isn't correlated with the lexical stock. The use of this vocabulary runs across gender and social class categories. It can equally be found in high performance and upper class students as well as in underprivileged youngsters of technical schooling. It is the only variable that does not change between the two high schools. Thus this special vocabulary would not be connected to the subject's lexical competence, nor to gender or social background. It is the psychological function of this language that seems to be prominent.

This study describes teaching and learning processes during a series of soccer training sessions. The predetermined course content formed the initial practicum for volunteer coaches who were in the first stage of their training. In general, the players demonstrated patterns of motor behaviour favourable to their motor learning. The coaches adopted most of the effective behaviors that had been recommended during the theoretical portion of their preparation. These observations tend to indicate the usefulness of having volunteer coaches participate in a practicum as part of their preparation, in order to improve the effectiveness of their subsequent instruction. Such instruction is likely to be even more effective if the practicum is based on training sessions of predetermined content.

First, we should think about the meaning of the couple and then about its make-up and structure. Cultural influences on the couple will thereby be clearer. This pertains to the so-called normal couples, as well as to any pathology concerning relationships and communication.

This study presents a descriptive approach to communication and interactions in a psychotic group children, without adult intervention. This investigation use a ethological method. The results show correlation between children's non verbal communication degree and the degree of severity in psychiatric troubles.

This presentation of recent developments in child language research attempts to show that communicative competence is not built solely upon purely linguistic foundations. The development of communicative competence cannot be considered to begin with the first words. There is a growing body of evidence showing that functional communication appears long before the child's first uses of meaning-bearing sound sequences based on the adult language. Adult-child interaction, both during prelinguistic and early linguistic stages, provides an essential framework upon which verbal communication is based. The acquisition of what can be considered as pragmatic competence, necessary for all communication, begins from the birth.

To study the frame of reference within which marriage counselling is generally practiced is also to define the conditions in which it is applicable as well as the methods to be used and their limitations. The history of marriage counselling, its "object" (the marriage relationship), its theoretical bases and its specific interest in interpersonal relationship disorders rather than individual pathology will be discussed. At the intersection between the personal and the interpersonal, couples and their problems confront us with some basic questions which require clarification as to the meaning and impact of our activity.
