The potential of information and communication technologies has quickly been identified for health and in particular to promote weight loss. Several types of technologies exist with varying degrees of efficiency. These include programs on the Internet, using text messages, smartphone applications or portable devices. All these technologies are based on a set of weight loss strategies known to be effective, such as self-monitoring, feedback and social support. The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for help-seeking is becoming more and more common for adolescents at risk of suicide. Objectives The aim of this current study was to better understand the help-seeking process of adolescents at risk for suicide. Methods A grounded theory methodology was used to describe the experience of adolescents at risk of suicide and gain a deeper understanding of their ICT help-seeking process. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, an ICT help-seeking questionnaire and live observations of ICT help-seeking strategies by the adolescents of this study. Theoretical saturation was reached with a total of 15 adolescents, aged 13 to 17, at risk of suicide. Results The grounded theory that emerged gravitated towards the fact that adolescents chose to virtually deal with emotional drowning. A specific context allowed this central category to emerge and included the adolescents' state, their personal triggers, their social environment as well as their desire to use ICT. The ICT strategies used by the adolescents to deal with their emotional drowning were to distract themselves, to get informed, to reveal themselves or to help others. Adolescents in this study used different ways to distract themselves with ICT. This included reading texts, watching online videos, listening to music and playing games. They also increased their literacy by informing themselves on suicide and mental health problems. However, many adolescents also searched for ways to help them commit suicide. Although most of the results were suicide prevention related, the keywords used by the adolescents remain preoccupying. Revealing their thoughts and their feelings about their emotional state seemed to be easier through ICT. They sometimes chose to reveal themselves anonymously but most of the time, they revealed themselves to use ICT to friends they already had in real life. Also, helping friends through ICT seemed to be very rewarding and helpful to the adolescents of our study even when they were in a state of emotional drowning. These different strategies to virtually deal with their emotional drowning hindered many different consequences which were to grow emotionally, to get help, to get temporary relief, to stay indifferent, to worsen their suicidal thoughts or to attempt suicide. Conclusion Although some negative consequences of ICT emerge from this study, a great deal of the consequences was positive and helpful for these adolescents. Overall, this study shows that ICT offer great opportunities for adolescent suicide prevention. Implications for practice, training and research are further discussed.

Convergence between information and communication technology and recent developments in medical care will totally change the health care sector. The way we perform diagnosis, treatment and follow-up will undergo disruptive changes in a very near future. We intend to highlight this statement by a limited selection of examples of radical innovations, especially in the field of oncology. To be totally disruptive and to illustrate the concept of "lateral power" - especially cognitive distribution - the list of references is only made up of internet links. Anyone - patients included - can easily and instantly access to this information everywhere.

A laptop with an Internet connection forms an extremely important communication tool for the patient. It satisfies one of the primary needs of the human being by supporting one of the cornerstones of the psyche: the social structure. The use of this tool is seen by patients and their families as offering a real benefit in terms of sharing and peace of mind.

The digital universe, from the internet to video games, arouses mixed feelings in parents of adolescents. However, it is possible to use the growing "digitisation" of the relationships between young people to develop care tools. Avatars or virtual characters, for example, make it possible to develop a relationship with adolescents hospitalised in child psychiatry units.

Introduction: We developed a new system of medical tele-expertise to improve detection and care of chronic renal failure by way of a better communication between general practitioners and specialists. It has been known for long that the incidence of chronic renal failure is increasing while cost of its treatment is very high. Unfortunately, late referral of patients with kidney diseases remains around 30%. Our goal was to help physicians to get access to nephrologists, hence to improve the cure of renal diseases. An early treatment of nephropathies may avoid the evolution to the stage of dialysis., Methods: We created a website with the technical support of the firm Unimedecine. It allowed a secure and fast exchange of medical data, all about the case of a one patient., Results: General practitioners seemed enthusiastic, but at the end, only a few of them did use the website. The number of connexion remained low throughout a 3-year experience. Questions were about advices but no progressive nephropathy was discovered. The cost of the website was a prohibitive 75 000 euros for 3 years. This paper is about the computer use by teenagers, often estimated abusive by their family circle. In most cases, it is a "simple abundant use" more than a true addiction or a passion. The author describes the psychosocial mechanisms of such behaviours and the characteristics of each one. Finally, he describes how the adults, teachers and nursing staff can face up their responsibilities to contribute towards a safe use of multimedia in young people.

Communication using images proves to be the superior way to persuade audiences. Thus, in cosmetic surgery, images are widely used to inform and to lure consumers. The superpower of visual communication is being bolstered by viewers' credulity, who never call into question the authenticity of photos as long as those photos are credible. Colorful digital images are broadcasted among scientific meetings, displayed in medical offices, and posted on the Internet. They generate a virtual world where cosmetic surgery is idealized: plastic surgeons are talented and handsome, operations are successful, and complications do not occur. We consider that digital imaging and the Internet should serve as a means to provide information that will ultimately strengthen the surgeon-patient relationship.

Communication can be a major asset to support development. In reality, it remains a constant ally of deceptive and manipulative forms, thus jeopardizing any fulfilling and worthwhile social existence. This is the main criticism formulated by Herbert Marcuse in the report on development communication in general and particularly with regard to the industrially less advanced countries, like most of the countries of the African continent. The marcusian reflection, fortunately, guides us on paths of real communication for African societies in order to accompany a development that bears the real colors of an endogenous progression rather than a perpetuation of domination. To achieve an understanding of the challenges of such an approach, this article first addresses communication under the marcusian critique. He then became interested in development in communication at Marcuse. Finally, he raises the marcusian perspective on development communication in the face of African issues. Friendship is a universal and proper phenomenon of the human condition that is born of the free offer of oneself to launch itself into the mystery of the other. Through it, the men become capable of finding a way to their humanization. This article portrays the role of friendship, especially in the digital age and the ways that Christians must go through to reach their identity in this relevant mean of communication, that overcomes the distance to allow the encounter. However, this technology never determines a society, it is what makes its choices.

Le militantisme numérique, l’activisme numérique ou encore le cyberactivisme prend de plus en plus de l’ampleur dans la société numérique d’aujourd’hui. Fabien Granjon a remarqué qu’au niveau de l’Internet Militant, certains mouvements politiques et sociaux se sont emparés du Web, très vite et facilement, que les parties politiques ou les syndicats. Cependant, en dépit de cette présence forte et pesante de ces activistes sur le Net, les avis des chercheurs, écrivains et activistes semblent être divergents quant à la portée ou aux effets du cyberactivisme sur les changements politiques, économiques, sociaux des nations. Notre problématique s’annonce comme suit : quels sont les objectifs et les effets de l’activisme numérique sur les changements politiques, économiques, sociaux, éducatifs et culturels au Maroc ?

In today’s information-based society, which is driven by technological advancements, archives have been developing new methods of communication in order to satisfy users’ needs. The current situation of the 18 Municipal Archives of the Great Lisbon Area is an example to study the level of investment in communicating their information, assessing how they have adapted to the new challenges, where Internet is a fundamental tool. This quantitative and qualitative study is based on documentary, bibliographic and primary sources, paper and Internet research, through institutional websites and social networks, which was complemented through questionnaire surveys and direct observation. It was concluded, therefore, that most of these Archives add organizational value to information through communication and that although the investment levels are heterogeneous, the municipal archives of Cascais and Lisbon stand out in this scope

Introduction: According to the WHO, therapeutic patient education (TPE) addresses the patient and his family, but in the majority of cases, it is the patient who benefits the most from the educational program. However, it is likely that patients in turn transmit knowledge and/or competencies to their caregivers. According to this hypothesis, a "Halo effect" would result from the therapeutic patient education. The objectives of this study were: (1) to highlight, with educated patients and their caregivers, the existence of this Halo effect; (2) to describe the consequences of the halo effect, both on patients and their caregivers; (3) to identify the knowledge/competencies transmited which had the greatest impact for both partners. Method: Patients, who participated in 15 TPE programs organized by the Montpellier University Hospital in 2020 as well as their caregivers, were submitted to two separate questionnaires to be completed online via Google form. All analyzes were performed at 5% alpha risk using R software version 4.0.4 (The R Foundation, 1020 Vienna, Austria). The analyzes are descriptive and analytical using parametric tests or their equivalent when their performance conditions were not met. The socio-demographic characteristics and statements concerning the use of TPE of patients were compared with those of their caregivers. Results: One hundred fifty-seven patients (62.7% women, mean age: 53) and 59 caregivers (57.6% women, mean age: 54, mostly wifes) answered the questionnaires. 84.9% of patients (p) recognize having transmitted knowledge/competencies to their caregivers (a) and the latter confirm (86.2%), i.e. a p-value of 0.98. These would encourage caregivers to better understand the disease (p = 69.9%; a = 83.1%) with a p < 0.001, and are considered, on both sides, useful in helping the patient to cope with emergencies (p = 68.3%; a = 74.6%), to better manage his illness (p = 61.6%; a = 64.4%) and his diet (p = 78.4%; a = 81.4%) daily, to provide him a better psychological support (p = 56.6%; a = 64.4%). The Halo effect seems to be less effective in terms of stress management, quality of sleep and of interpersonal and social relationships. Patients and caregivers express non-contradictory opinions, although the responses of the latter are consistently of a higher percentage than those of the patients. Finally, patients want their caregivers to participate in the TPE program, but only to a part of it (p = 49.3%; a = 60%). Discussion and conclusion: A Halo effect exists. Patients who in turn educate their caregiver can benefit from useful daily help, thanks to a better understanding of the disease by the latter. As a result, the caregiver better participates in the management of the patient's therapy. The Halo effect, therefore, not only affects the caregiver's empowerment, but more generally contributes to the spread of health skills which should be taken into account when considering the economy of TPE as well as the future of TPE programs which should involve more the caregivers. Innovation is a major accelerator of development. This is no different with regard to innovations in business management processes. The communication policy of business entities has been undergoing a transformation for more than two decades, where more and more emphasis is being placed on interactive forms of presentation, with which companies can better target selected markets. The aim of the study is to describe selected characteristics of the Slovak market in the light of the transformation from off-line to on-line. Through the analysis of secondary information sources, it is possible to state that on the Slovak market we record both a continuous increase in the share of social network use by companies, as well as an increase in expenditure on Internet promotion. The presented study maps the period until the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, thus creating a reference framework for subsequent research into the effects of the pandemic on the communication activities of Slovak companies.

Résumé Objectif L’objectif de cette étude est de mettre en exergue les effets de l’utilisation de lieux d’échanges virtuels sur l’adaptation psychologique des patientes à la pathologie cancéreuse et notamment au cancer du sein. Méthode Pour ce faire, une revue de littérature a été effectuée. Les bases de données Cairn, Wiley Online Library, Taylor and Francis, ScienceDirect, Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR), Communication organisation, PubMed Central NCBI, APA PsycNET, Cross Ref, Oxford Journals, Persee, et Link Springer ont été explorés. Nous avons inclus toutes les études quantitatives et qualitatives portant sur l’utilisation de technologies ou de ressources en ligne en lien avec le cancer et plus particulièrement le cancer du sein. Résultats Cinquante-deux articles ont alors été sélectionnés. Quarante incluaient exclusivement des femmes atteintes du cancer du sein, et 12 incluaient différents types de cancer (sein, prostate, reins, poumon, sang…). La plupart des études ont rapporté des résultats significatifs en termes d’adaptation psychologique : une amélioration du bien-être émotionnel, psychologique et général ; une diminution de l’anxiété et du stress ; un meilleur optimisme ; une meilleure qualité de vie, ainsi qu’une meilleure participation à la santé. Conclusion Les résultats suggèrent une relation positive entre les lieux d’échanges pour les patientes et les résultats concernant la gestion de leur vécu par rapport à la maladie. We included all quantitative and qualitative studies on the use of technologies and online resources related to cancer, especially breast cancer. Results Fifty-two articles were selected. Forty only included women with breast cancer and 12 included different types of cancer (breast, prostate, kidney, leukemia…). Most of the studies have reported significant results in terms of psychological adaptation: improved emotional, psychological and general well-being; a decrease in anxiety and stress; a greater optimism; a better quality of life and a better participation in health. The presented paper concerns information and communication functions of the microblog Twitter during and after terrorist attacks in Paris in 2015. The main purpose of this publication is to point out functions of content described with such hashtags as: #porteouverte, #rechercheparis, #prayforParis, #wearenotafraid, #noussommesunis. Twitter’s users used listed hashtags mainly to: 1) send people (who were in the area of terrorist attacks) information on where they can find safe place to stay, 2) look for lost people more effectively, 3) show support to people touched by the tragedy. On the November 13th 2015 and a few days after series of terrorist attacks in Paris Twitter was an important communication space, the place of giving help and support in fight with terrorism.

Contemporary Western culture is under the sign of the interest for communication. Internet and mobile telephony place over the world, network-type structures, analogous to those in the Renaissance representation of the world. Internet ensures, through the very technical conditions of its use, the creation of a private space wherein the individual faces himself. The use of the mobile phone favours the replacement of the individual in the network of his personal relations and in his own history. Internet and mobile telephony support self-knowledge

The article shows that the internet has become more and more important for election campaigns, but cannot replace television as (central) mass medium for campaigning. It is argued that that potential of the internet and the potential of television for election campaigns is completely different. As a consequence, television is substantially complemented, but not substituted by the internet.

Social media practices encourage new approaches and visions of competence focusing on the construction of individual biography and the "invention of oneself". The new "artful skills" of "produsers" address the need to invent individual and collective responses to the sense of alienating emptiness pervading postindustrial and posttraditional societies. Combining and submission and opposition to both structuring and alienating aspects of late modernity, these produsagers actualize various tricks, tactics and immemorial schemes already mapped by various authors before the Internet. On this backdrop the author proposes a broader reinterpretation of the concept of competence.

As many of today’s social scientists (such as Beck, Giddens, Howard, Vlăsceanu etc) have remarked, the modern age has brought with itself a great series of fast-paced changes in the average man’s lifestyle. Nothing is safe or can be taken for granted anymore. Families disintegrate, traditions become obsolete and professional re-qualifications are necessary every few years just to keep upwith the younger, tougher competition on the labour market. Forced to constantly changed ones place of residence, ones entourage, work and habits leads to a feeling of loneliness, of not really being a part of modern society and its communities, of being left out to fend for yourself. Luckily, modernity has also brought with itself a never seen before technological boom which instantly permitted not only the improvement of one’s biological life, but also provided society with the opportunity to bridge the gap between people. One of the most significant of these innovations is the Internet, a non-geographical space that people, in just a few short years, have colonized andmade their own, projected their identities into and created solid and durable communities that, which were less subjected to being torn apart by distance and time. This paper’s object is to show how and why being part of an online community is a great way for one to get a stronger feeling of social integration and be part of a somewhat more fair, less prejudiced world.
