Introduction: When their child presents a complex chronic health condition, parents take on a new role as caregivers. The dual identity of parent and caregiver exposes them to a risk of exhaustion. Objectives: We developed and assessed workshops for parent caregivers. These workshops aimed to help parents become aware of their needs and identify their helpful resources. Methods: We opted for an action-research methodology conducted in a participatory, iterative and evaluative approach, supported by a steering committee (professionals, parents and researchers). Three groups of parents (N = 18) participated in four support workshops. The data collected was processed through thematic analysis. Results: The workshops made it possible for parents to take time for themselves, to become aware of their own experiences, to support among parents, and to consider changes in their daily life. These benefits were supported by an online program, supervised by health professionals, offering support workshops to parents regardless of the characteristics of their family and their child. Discussion and conclusions: These workshops are an opportunity of encounters that preserves a personal and family balance. They could participate in preventing parental burnout.
