Starting from the premise that an increase in the use of energy determines a corresponding economic growth, this article aims to determine if at the community level of the European Union there is a causality between energy consumption and economic performance. Thus, using the multiple regression analysis, we sought to determine if, at the level of all 28 member states of the EU, the economic performance, measured through GDP, can be explained by the simultaneous variation in the consumption of the 5 types of primary energy: solid fuels, electricity, natural gas, oil and renewable energy. The results, of particular importance in the development of measures through the European energy policy, show a significant impact of the use of electricity, oil and renewable energy on the European GDP, while the influence of coal and natural gas consumption has a low intensity.

Among all industries looking for economic development and environmental responsibility, sustainable manufacturing has gained popularity worldwide. This study reviews how biodegradable polymers and recycled metals can be utilized to encourage sustainable manufacturing. In reality, biodegradable polymers are made from renewable materials such as starch or cellulose; hence they can be utilized rather than common plastics and they can avoid contamination caused by non-disposable polymers while at the same time improving resource productivity. Biodegradable polymers have found various applications in packaging, agriculture, and pharm sectors where they contribute towards sustainable product advancement through their potential to break down under certain conditions ensuring that no waste remains behind after usage. On the other hand, recycled metals are significant for accomplishing circularity in manufacturing systems and bringing down the natural impacts related to different stages of manufacturing processes. Recycled metals offer assistance to save natural resources, reduce energy utilization, and lower the amount of GHGs produced by mining and refining virgin ore. For sustainable manufacturing, this paper highlights participation as well as development and technology integration among other things. For instance; making eco-friendly materials may be one such activity while digitalizing production processes can be another great thought for improving environmental sustainability in the manufacturing sector. Moreover, this paper suggests a few areas that can foster greater natural protection amid production activities like switching over renewable sources of power supply for energy usage. These actions will not only guarantee economic development but also protect our environment because somehow they are interrelated to each other.

The arrival of 6G mobile communication networks is anticipated to revolutionize the technological landscape, bringing about profound innovations. This research paper explores the various technological advancements that will pave the way for the advent of 6G networks, with a particular focus on addressing energy consumption. It is widely recognized that energy efficiency plays a crucial role in the evolution of 6G networks. To enhance network performance, user experience, and resource management, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is expected to be a pivotal technology. AI-based solutions can effectively optimize energy usage and contribute to the overall efficiency of 6G networks. Furthermore, the incorporation of wireless communication systems, telecommunication, and the Internet of Things (IoT) will be integral to the infrastructure of 6G networks. The need for significant enhancements in 6G networks is also examined in this study. Ensuring the safety and protection of 6G networks from cyber threats becomes increasingly important due to the growing reliance on networked communication and the sensitive nature of transmitted information. Cutting-edge security methods such as homomorphic encryption and blockchain technology may be essential in this regard. Moreover, this research paper explores the impact of 6G networks on various domains and discusses the challenges that must be overcome to unlock the technology’s full potential. To ensure responsible adoption and usage of 6G networks, the development of new business models and regulatory frameworks may be necessary to support their implementation while addressing energy consumption concerns.

The exponential growth of big data has led to a significant increase in the volume and complexity of data being generated and stored. This trend has created a huge demand for secure storage and processing of big data. Cryptography is a widely used technique for securing data, but traditional cryptography algorithms are often too resource-intensive for big data applications. To address this issue, light weight cryptography algorithms have been developed that are optimized for low computational overhead and low memory utilization. This research paper explores the use of a new sustainable algorithm that utilizes a lightweight cryptographybased key management scheme to optimize MapReduce security and computational efficiency in Hadoop clusters. The proposed sustainable MapReduce algorithm aims to reduce memory and CPU allocation, thereby significantly reducing the energy consumption of Hadoop clusters. The paper emphasizes the importance of reducing energy consumption and enhancing environmental sustainability in big data processing and highlights the potential benefits of using sustainable lightweight cryptography algorithms in achieving these goals. Through rigorous testing and evaluation, the paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed sustainable MapReduce algorithm in improving the energy efficiency and computational performance of Hadoop clusters, making it a promising solution for sustainable big data processing.

The increasing demand for energy utilization in smart homes has led to the exploration of machine learning techniques as a means to optimize energy consumption. This review paper explores the merits and demerits of using machine learning techniques for energy optimization in smart homes. Smart homes are becoming increasingly popular due to the potential benefits they offer, including increased energy efficiency, improved comfort, and enhanced security. However, to achieve these benefits, it is essential to optimize the energy utilization in smart homes. This paper presents machine learning techniques that have been used to optimize energy utilization in smart homes. In this paper proposed the using Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) algorithm for optimizing energy utilization in smart homes. However, challenges such as data privacy, accuracy of data collection, and cost may hinder the full adoption of these techniques.

Buildings occupy an important role in our modern society. However, the existing buildings have a very low thermal protection, leading to high levels of energy consumption making the buildings sector among the most significant CO2 source in Europe. Even if new buildings have high performance levels, the majority of the building stock is represented by older buildings which require renovation work. The European Union has imposed important reduction of specific energy consumption in all sectors, but energy conservation in buildings remains a key element in obtaining the sustainable development as evidence of human solidarity beyond the limits of space and time. In this paper the importance of the energy reductions in the building sector is outlined and both the energy policy and building stock statistics in EU and Romania are presented. Moreover, some measures and initiatives at European level are discussed, focusing on some important themes: demography, housing stock age and energy requirements.

When the British Government enacted a law stating that by the beginning of the year 2017 all-new residential buildings must meet zero-carbon requirements, many foundations contributed to developing engineering ideas and environmental solutions that would help in conserving energy, environment, and public health.The fact that some communities are in greater need of such legislation is due to population growth, resource depletion, and problems caused by environmental pollution. This is consistent with the appearance of many new residential communities in Cairo and other governorates, such as the residential areas in the Suez Canal Development Center and New Cairo, which can be a nucleus for a healthy and environmentally friendly society that could then be a replicable prototype model for many areas.The issue of energy conservation is one of the most important pillars on which low-carbon buildings depend, so various institutions have been striving to achieve this. The entities responsible for implementing this type of building can be classified into the design of the building itself, technical systems, and devices in addition to adjusting Users' Lifestyles.This research paper explains principles that could be applied to achieve zero-carbon buildings to encourage architects and engineers to work with them in Egypt. Then, to investigate these principles, some residential buildings that have experimented with the idea of low carbon buildings according to the British experiment are discussed. And using the inductive methodology, implementation barriers are inferred with a set of proposed actions after discussing some experiences of low-carbon buildings in Egypt, which aim to improve and raise the quality of life.

The paper deals with the analysis of the environmental goals‟ viability in Europe 2020 Strategy. The analysis takes into consideration four indicators: total greenhouse gas emissions, share of renewable energy in gross final energy consumption, primary energy consumption and final energy consumption. The analysis is built on three steps: a comparative analysis between the Member States during 2002-2014, followed by regression analysis and a forecast until 2020. The regression analysis and the forecasts are supported by SPSS19 software. All conclusions of the analysis are illustrated by the latest official statistic data, pertinent tables and diagrams. The main conclusions of the paper are: EU28 is far away of achieving the environment targets for 2020; there are great disparities between the Member States related to the environment policy.

This research paper aims to highlight the role of the policy of reducing energy consumption in achieving and ensuring energy security in Algeria, by knowing important aspects affecting the increase in energy consumption, including the impact on energy security in general in Algeria, using the descriptive analytical approach to show the impact of some prominent variables on The aspect of energy consumption in Algeria, with a focus on standard methods for building a model that explains the impact of these variables on energy consumption in Algeria during the period from 1999 to 2018. The results of this study concluded that there is a significant positive impact of three main variables on energy consumption, namely the population, the national car park and the national housing park, and from it the impact on the energy security situation in Algeria, and thus the research concluded that the mechanism of reducing energy consumption in order to ensure Energy security in Algeria revolves around controlling these studied variables.

The evaluation of the energy performance of ventilated and glazed facades can be done based on specific indexes. The paper presents two of those, defined as a function of season, i. e. the preheating efficiency index for the cold season and the dynamic isolation efficiency for the hot season. A study was performed concerning the evolution of the two indexes in different climatic conditions, specific to Romania. The functional correlations were obtained for a ventilated and glazed facade model, by varying the specific parameters one by one. Increasing energy efficiency and reliability of power grids is becoming an essential part of grid energy management. Accurately predicting load demand is one of the most important responsibilities of any power utility. This paper focuses on medium term load forecasting for the Moroccan province of Taroudannt using historical monthly load data for five years (2018-2022), temperature and wind speed. This study is the first of its kind in Morocco, particularly within the province of Taroudannt. The main objective is to contribute to the improvement of energy efficiency in the Souss Massa region. To forecast consumed energy, the fuzzy logic approach is used. Three different models are developed, considering three defuzzification methods, namely Centroid, Bisector and smallest of maximum (SOM). The model is tested using data from the year 2022. The simulation results show that the SOM prediction values are less precise, with a mean error of 13 %. In contrast, the other two methods generate the more reasonable and satisfactory values which are closer to the actual load, with the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) less than 8.5 %. The result obtained demonstrate that the proposed model is capable of accurately forecasting future load for Taroudannt province.

Facebook groups constitute a new area dedicated to marriage, providing a new space for encounters and first contact, in addition to the existing ones. Our approach was based on qualitative semi-structured interviews and virtual ethnography through participatory observation of two Facebook groups. This research allowed us to identify the different ways in which people meet within a Facebook group, and to highlight a key aspect of these groups: the shared intimacy of a couple’s life. In addition, it has exposed the increased energy consumption associated with the use of digital social networks. The purpose of this paper is to explore how Facebook groups can be a marriage platform for young people today, at the expense of the high energy consumption associated with intensive use of the platform.

As the capital economic circle in China, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has experienced rapid economic development depending on a large amount of fossil fuel energy consumption in decades. Based on Tapio decoupling index, this paper logically analyzes the nexus between economic growth and energy consumption in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region from 2005 to 2019. An interesting result is obtained: except for the strong decoupling state in 2012-2013, the relationship between economy and energy consumption showed weak decoupling state for the rest of the research period. In addition, the decoupling elasticity coefficient of weak decoupling varies greatly in different years. The empirical results suggest that adjust economic development mode and transform energy consumption structure are the most necessary means for the future coordinated development of energy-economy-environment in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

The paper deals with the study of isolation of protein mineral concentrates at the electrophysical processing of whey, which is practically important for food industry, as one. In the focus of attention were variations of the: electric current strength, energy consumption, pH values, and the degree of the isolations of proteins at different current densities. As a result, the optimal degree of the isolation of proteins at the stationary regime was determined, which heavily depends on the primary processing of milk as well as on the solid matter content and protein of the initial whey.

This paper examines the relationship between FDI, technology and environment with an assessment of aggregated relationship, by technical composition and the mode of technology transferability through FDI. A panel data for 19 developing countries has been used to for 14 years of data. The empirical results have suggested that FDI is the significant variable in explaining the carbon emission in developing countries followed by energy consumption and technology transformation. Our findings suggest that to manage both energy consumption and FDI flows via investment in research and development (RDY) or energy efficiency demand to reduce CO2 emissions is not possible without stringent environmental regulations and without retaining the developing countries’ competitiveness.

The present paper is approaching the energy efficiency topic from the viewpoint of its trends and influence factors, in the context of requirements, criteria and principles of sustainable development. Energy efficiency is measured as ratio of GDP and energy use and its multiple factors of influence are considered. With a view to deducing some conclusions of theoretical-methodological but also of practical-applicative character, we are researching the variation in energy efficiency in European Union, but also in the case of new candidates and other countries, by means of multifactor econometric modeling.

Energy crisis is raising serious concerns throughout the world. There has been constant rise in energy consumption corresponding to the increase in global population. This sector affects the other pillars of national economy including industries and transportation. Because of these reasons, the traditional fossil-based energy sources are depleting rapidly, resulting in high and unstable energy prices. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, although different from each other in terms of their economic stability and political systems, still rely heavily on the traditional fossil fuels. This paper presents the comparison of these two countries in terms of their energy consumption and factors affecting it. These factors include, but not limited to, economic development, and growth in population and other sectors such as; industries, transportation, etc. The comparison is also made with the regional and global energy consumption trends and these countries. Moreover, regression models were built to predict energy consumption till 2040 and compare the growth in this sector and share in global energy demand. Energy consumption in oil-rich countries (Saudi Arabia) has been driven through its economic development, while for energy insecure country (Pakistan) it is mainly because of population growth. It was also found that in the next two decades the share of Pakistan in the global energy demand will increase. This concludes that population growth will have more impact on energy consumption than economic growth. It could mean that the shift in energy sector would shift towards sustenance instead of using energy for commercial or industrial usage. Conference Track: Policy and Finance and Strategies

Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) is an important topic which impacts on occupant health, productivity and also energy consumption in buildings. The four main parameters for IEQ evaluation are: Thermal comfort, indoor air quality, visual comfort and aural comfort. The occupant behavior in buildings defines as any direct or indirect act which an occupant selects to change the displeasure environmental condition into the comfort conditions. The selected behavior by human has a significant impact on the energy consumption in buildings. This paper reviews the methods which used to simulate IEQ parameters, energy consumption and human behavior in buildings. It aims to promote the idea of more consideration about the relation between occupant behavior and energy usage in buildings. This summary of existing studies about the importance of human behavior factor in energy simulation software helps to identify new methods and strategies for simulating IEQ, Energy and behavior.

The student housing sector has faced major challenges. On the one hand, it requires constructing housing that is environmentally friendly. On the other hand, there is a need to promptly respond to the needs and demands of student housing. The A’Docks hall of residence, built in 2010 from shipping containers, was particularly denounced in the media. This paper shows the results of a survey, using mixed-methodology, conducted for the student residents to understand the effects of their energy consumption behaviours and their recycling habits on their residential quality of life. The results show a heightened level of ecological appreciation and diverse eco-responsible practices but these are limited by constraints in housing construction and issues tied to the residence’s management.
