- Abstract
In order to effectively contribute to scientific knowledge, biomedical observations have to be validated and debated by scientists in the relevant field. Along this debate that mainly takes place in the scientific literature, citation of previous studies plays a major role. However, only a few academic studies have quantitatively evaluated the suitability and accuracy of scientific citations. Here we review these academic studies. Two types of misuse have been pointed out: Citation bias and citation distortion. First, scientific citations favor positive results and those supporting authors' conclusion. Second, many statements linked to a reference actually misrepresent the referenced findings. About 10% of all citations in biomedicine are strongly inaccurate and misleading for the reader. Finally, we give two examples illustrating how some citation misuses do affect public health: The opioid crisis in the USA and the unjustified fostering of hydroxychloroquine for Covid-19 treatment in France., (© 2021 médecine/sciences – Inserm.)

International audience; OBJECTIVE: The aim of the current study is to identify the output of French university hospitals in the Web of Science database and to perform a comparative bibliometric analysis to characterize their position in the national biomedical research landscape.METHODS: The first stage consisted in creating the unified "Organization-Enhanced" records in the Web of Science for 32 university hospitals, in order to ensure the reliable aggregated data. The research output of university hospitals and organizations members of the French National Alliance for Life Sciences and Health (Aviesan) are analyzed using bibliometric indicators, including the number of publications, category normalized citation impact, top one percent and top 10 percent of the most cited papers, international collaboration rate.RESULTS: In terms of publication output, university hospitals rank 3rd in France, after universities and CNRS. They contribute to about 17 % of the total national production and to 2.5 % of the European publications (EU28). Over the 10 years period, the impact of the papers produced by university hospitals grows faster than volume. Visibility and impact comply with the university hospitals' core assignments: teaching, research and knowledge transfer.CONCLUSIONS: This study provides objective data showing a leading position of the university hospitals among the biomedical research organizations in France, playing a major role in patient-based research.

Effective advertising greatly affects the recipient and draws his attention creating a desire to move towards the subject of advertising and to interact with it. Advertising has developed through the ages staring from the emergence of signs and symbols used by man, as the symbol represents a recognized visual language in all different forms of advertising, The Arabic language with its multiple lines provide a wide range that allows to make use of it in shaping an identity that distinguishes it from the Latin-character-based languages through the various types of Arabic script, aesthetics and artistic standards associated with the Arabic letter. The research aims to highlighting the Egyptian identity by using Arabic letters as a graphic approach for some of the renowned Egyptian figures. The study focused on the use of the Arabic letter and exploiting it in the ad prints of the tourist hotels to confirm the Egyptian identity. The research, therefore, adopts the analytical descriptive approach for some student design models by overlapping Arab calligraphy to form some famous Egyptian characters as well as the experimental approach in displaying models for the design of ad prints, as the prints whether they are (paper-advertising-advertisement) are of great importance to companies and tourism operators, so the problem of research lies in the great challenges that the advertising designer faces to promote an innovative tourism identity based on the Arabic calligraphy and the competition of Western markets, and the most important results of the research are how to confirm the Egyptian identity by using Arabic script characters and by utilizing them graphically for some Egyptian figures in ad prints to promote Egyptian tourism and keep up with the state's orientation for the development of tourism and what it represents as one of the most important sources of national income.

Under the EU’s multilingualism policy, its 24 languages have equal status as both official and working languages. However, in fact, most of the EU’s day-to-day work is now conducted in English. In contrast, most EU staff writing in English are not native speakers, and their proficiency in drafting documents in English may vary. There is also no systematic procedure for ensuring that texts are edited before publication, resulting in a varying level of quality in terms of the English used. This paper uses a widely-distributed EU Commission document as a starting point for examining some of the English language errors commonly found in EU documents. It is argued that these errors often make them difficult to read and interfere with the EU’s ability to communicate with the public.

The aim of this paper is to distinguish the role of the aesthetics in the creation of a brand. Aesthetics is a new model of marketing and it guarantees to the firms the possibility to address to the consumers through a variety of sensory experiences and, as a consequence, it brings benefits both to the consumers and to the firms by promoting customer’s satisfaction and loyalty. Those companies which are aware of the importance of creating a brand identity may get on the market a preference among consumers, its can add value to products and can impose higher prices. ZARA Company is a successful model succeeding from the beginning to use the aesthetics’ advantages to create its own identity. ZARA, the main store of the INDITEX Group (Industria del Diseño Textil SA) is an already well known international brand, its most important feature being the transfer for the retail sector together with the imagine that reflects in the territory of several coutries. Therefore, through company’s name, logo, website, own style, corporate and brand expressions, we will try to illustrate how this company managed to create a positive image among customers using aesthetics.

In 1832, just after his arrival in Neuchâtel, Agassiz with a few young naturalists, founded the local Society of Natural Sciences (SNSN) who shortly after started publishing Memoirs and later Bulletins (both series still exist). In them, geology, especially that of the Jura, occupies a prominent place, with the publication of local geological maps and many notes on structure, stratigraphy, water resources, karst morphology and glacial deposits. On glacial deposits, rather few papers were signed by Agassiz unlike du Pasquier who studied the extension of the last glaciation in the Jura, analysed the glacial lake of the Valde- Travers and the successive glacial periods that affected the region. He also played an active part in the protection of erratic blocks. Henri Ladame associated climate changes with astronomic perturbations, and despite his relations with Agassiz, he made no reference that they could produce the ice age ; instead he proposed that they are responsible for the formation of mountain ranges. In the very active field of structural geology, Gressly proved that, with sound mapping, it is possible to forecast, to a good approximation, the internal structure of the Jura folds. In his many notes, Schardt showed that the folded Jura cover is strongly affected by faults (wrench and thrust faults). Chronic shortage of water motivated early investigations to understand water behaviour in the Jurassic limestones. The relation between shallow holes and karstic springs has been confirmed, the speed of the water flow estimated, the impermeable role of the different marl formations appreciated. With time, the particularity of the flow rate of the karstic springs and their chemistry have been related to the very heterogeneous permeability of the folded limestone (high permeability of relatively rare channels and low permeability of the tight but very frequent small fissures).

Cette note est un aperçu bibliographique des activités de recherche des principaux organismes régionaux de planification et de développement., Since 1983, following the disclosure of the Québec governement's policies regarding regional planning, the Outaouais region has undergone a reorganization of its socio-economic development and regional planning structure. In the course of these modifications, a great number of documents were produced on the objectives and strategies of development. This research remains relatively unknown to academies. This paper provides a bibliographical outline of the research activities of the main agencies of regional planning and development concerned.
