This article addresses the pressing need for advancements in modern mechanical engineering in Uzbekistan, focusing on increasing the durability and reliability of machinery components. The study proposes the utilization of pneumatic vortex processing as an innovative solution, leveraging aerodynamic flow energy, particularly the vortex effect. Through theoretical analysis and experimental studies, various designs of devices for pneumatic vortex processing of cylindrical parts are developed and analyzed. The interaction between deforming balls and the surface being processed is thoroughly investigated, considering factors such as turbulence, surface roughness, and input pressure. Optimal parameters, including ball diameter, number of balls, and inlet pressure, are determined to achieve the desired surface quality. The study reveals the influence of input pressure and initial surface roughness on surface quality and processing force. Findings suggest that by adjusting the diameter and number of balls at a fixed input pressure, optimal combinations can be identified for different workpiece sizes and materials. These results provide valuable insights for enhancing the durability and reliability of machinery components through optimized pneumatic vortex processing techniques.

The gravitational water vortex power plants (GWVPPs) have established in hydropower systems as a capable approach, generating micro-scale environment friendly electricity. In this system, energy is produced as a result of the interaction of water coming from an inlet canal with the turbine by creating a vortex in circular/conical-shaped structures. This interaction is based on an assumption that the water flow rate in a basin coincides with the tangential velocity on the turbine propeller. In this case, it is essential to investigate numerous geometric design parameters of the cylinder basin and their effects on vortex formation with the help of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Here, based on the CFD principles, the behaviour of various geometrical parameters on the vortex and tangential velocities in the basin are investigated separately with the help of Ansys Fluent, without using any turbine propeller. For a certain inlet flow velocity and head, different tunable geometric parameters for the gravitational water vortex plant with a cylindrical basin are inlet canal length, basin diameter, basin height and outlet diameter, respectively. The objective is to achieve an improved design configuration concerning factors such as tangential velocity, vortex arrangement, and the optimal placement of turbine propellers within this vortex.

This research paper presents an analysis of improving the efficiency of a gravity eddy micro hydropower plant, which is an effective solution for low pressure water flows, by determining the optimal geometry of the conical basin. The geometry of the basin is the main parameter that directly affects the height of the vortex, the suspension of the full air mass in the center of the vortex, the achievement of a high value of the tangential speed of the vortex and, at the same time, the efficiency. Conical basin geometry analyzes were performed using SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation. In this research work, the tangential speeds of the simulation model vortex formed by changing the cone part of the conical basin at angles of 25º-60º relative to the vertical were determined and it was based on the fact that the optimal value of the deviation angle is 45º.

The greatest intensity of the process of dispersion and subsequent coalescence of oil droplets in emulsified wastewater of oilfields takes place in the near-wall areas of tubular coalescing devices. Strengthening of the wall effect is possible by covering the surface of the flowing part of the coalescing device with silicate enamel, which provides the effect of sliding of the turbulent flow of waste water (emulsion) on a thin adhesive layer that appears directly on the surface of the enamel. Experimental studies to determine the effectiveness of treatment of oily wastewater in tubular vortex-type coalescing devices were carried out on an experimental unit consisting of three coalescing devices connected in series. Each coalescing device was a tubular shaft coaxially connected to the inlet and outlet chambers. Vortex tubular coalescing devices made of stainless steel (not coated with enamel) and vortex coalescing devices of similar design coated with silicate enamel were used in the experiments. The wastewater treated in the unit was sedimented, and the concentrations of oil and suspended particles were determined in the clarified water. Analysis of the data obtained showed that at the time of wastewater treatment from 1.1 to 6.3 s sedimentation effect on oil particles after coalescing devices coated with enamel on average by 1.5 to 1.8% was higher than the sedimentation effect obtained after the treatment of oil emulsion in coalescing devices not coated with enamel. The sedimentation effect on suspended solids in the second series of experiments was greater than the sedimentation effect observed in the first series by an average of 1.1-1.4 %.

The results of the study of hydrodynamic and mass transfer parameters of a stirred bioreactor during gas dispersion from the cavity of an open vortex to the area with reduced pressure in the liquid behind the impeller paddles are presented. New data were obtained on gas content, dispersed composition of gas bubbles, stirring power, and intensity of mass transfer in the air-water system, aqueous solutions of sucrose and glycerol of various concentrations and with different content of surfactants. The dependence of the stirring power on the gas content and Reynolds number, as well as the mass transfer coefficient on the boundary surface and energy dissipation, have been established. It is assumed that when calculating the dissipation of energy spent on developing a boundary surface, it is necessary to take into account the influence of viscous friction forces in the liquid. Dispersion of gas into liquid through an open vortex cavity in a stirred bioreactor allowed to increase the gas content, the boundary surface and to intensify mass transfer compared to conventional aeration systems.

Consideration of vortex shedding response is important for high-rise chimneys when air flow causes strong vibrations of the structure in a certain range of wind speeds when the frequency of natural vibrations of the structure coincides with the frequency of Karman vortex shedding. Among the methods of protection against vortex shedding response, for example, the use of dampers, but the most interesting results show the optimization of enclosing constructions of high-rise chimneys, capable of reducing the amplitudes of lateral forces of wind effects caused by vortex shedding. Therefore, in this research, a study of the applicability of lattice enclosing constructions to protect high-rise chimneys from vortex shedding response by reducing the amplitude of wind effects is considered.

The outcomes of experimental investigations into ascertaining the hydraulic resistance of a vortex apparatus, featuring swirling gas and liquid flows under diverse design and operational conditions, are showcased. These examinations on pressure loss in vortex-type apparatuses facilitate the estimation of energy consumption for activities such as dust removal, contact heat exchange, gas absorption purification, and other processes conducted within gas-liquid systems. Notably, it has been observed that the hydraulic resistance of the scrutinized vortex apparatus is markedly lower compared to the pressure drop encountered in nozzle-type and plate-type apparatuses. Furthermore, it does not surpass the resistance exhibited by high-efficiency vortex-type apparatuses of alternative designs. The hydraulic resistance of hollow vortex apparatuses, equipped with tangential swirlers, is contingent upon variables such as gas phase velocity, liquid flow rate, apparatus design parameters, and the physical properties of the working media. Through the meticulous analysis of experimental data, calculation dependencies have been derived to determine the resistance coefficients of both dry and irrigated vortex apparatuses. These dependencies prove to be practical and convenient from an applied standpoint.

Researchers have studied vertical axis turbines (VATs) for their low power efficiency, focusing on the turbine blades, selecting suitable airfoils, modifying the original airfoil shape, and adding other devices to the blades. The proposed method is to add a passive vortex generator device, which generates vortex flow to delay the separation flow at the surface, thereby increasing efficiency. Initially, VGs were used on aircraft wings to improve stability and performance efficiency; later, they were developed for other transport industries, such as cars, trucks, high-speed trains, and ships. In the renewable energy sector, VGs are used to improve turbine performance and efficiency. The research aims to obtain comprehensive information on the effect of using VG on vertical-axis ocean current turbines. To achieve this goal, we collected articles related to VG, reviewed the published articles on VG research on wind turbines and marine current turbines, then analysed the research results and determined the results based on the research methodology. At present, research has been developed to obtain the shape, dimension, and configuration of VG suitable for a vertical-axis ocean current turbine. The research is carried out in stages, which currently prioritize the shape and VG dimensions used in VAT with NACA 0021 blades, followed by the development of VG configuration research on VAT blades.

Air classification is a common process in many industries. The paper presents an analysis of the operation of a centrifugal multivortex classifier designed to separate solid particles. The classification process of gas-solid system is observed between the outer pipe and the inner pipe, which has rectangular openings that provide the formation of the stable vortex system. The purpose of this work is to study the influence of the entrance angle of rectangular openings on the classification effectiveness of the device. The results show that the maximum effectiveness in the classification of particles larger than 40 μm is achieved at an angle of 0.8 and a gas flow speed of 16 m/s, providing an effectiveness of 69.6%. Increasing the speed at the inlet to the device improves the effectiveness, since the vortex structure in the interpipe space becomes more stable. It is recommended to select the classifier with the largest entrance angle of rectangular openings, since the lowest pressure loss is achieved. Changing the entrance angle of rectangular openings of the device has practically no effect on the effectiveness of particle classification.

Desulphurization is the purifying process of molten ferronickel from sulphur impurity. During the desulphurization process using a ladle furnace equipped with an impeller, the fluid flow characteristics and the temperature drop of molten ferronickel are important things that must be observed. One approach that can be done to find out the fluid flow characteristics and temperature drops is through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation. The limitation of the simulation in the previous study did not simulate the effect of operating parameters such as impeller immersion depth and impeller rotational speed on the temperature drop of molten metal. Therefore, the simulation carried out in this study was a CFD simulation on the effect of impeller immersion depth and impeller rotational speed on the temperature drop of molten ferronickel during the desulphurization process. This study began by comparing the initial simulation results with a prototype experiment and simulation that another researcher conducted to validate the simulation model. After the selected model had been validated, the main simulations were carried out with variations in the immersion depth and impeller rotation speed. Variations in impeller immersion depth were 700 mm and 900 mm, while variations in impeller rotational speed were 30 rpm, 40 rpm, 50 rpm, and 60 rpm. The simulation began with creating a 3D design of an impeller and 2236 mm high ladle furnace using Ansys SpaceClaim. Then, the meshing and setup process was carried out using Ansys Fluent. The simulation was set by activating the Volume of the Fluid model, the Multiple Reference Frame model, the energy model, and the Renormalization Group (RNG) k-ɛ turbulent model. Based on the simulation results, the impeller immersion depth affects the size of the recirculation flow pattern and the characteristics of the molten ferronickel temperature profile. The impeller rotational speed affects molten ferronickel's vortex depth, velocity, and temperature drop. If the impeller is immersed deeper, the upper recirculation zone will be larger than the lower recirculation zone and the molten ferronickel temperature in the upper area will be hotter, while the bottom area will be colder. The faster the rotation of the impeller is the deeper the vortex, the higher the velocity of molten ferronickel, and the greater the temperature drop of molten ferronickel. The desulfurization process is influenced by a combination of mechanical operating parameters, such as the depth of immersion and impeller rotational speed, which result in ideal mixing characteristics. Impeller immersion depth of 900 mm and impeller rotational speed of 50 rpm are the ideal operational parameters for the desulfurization process in this study. A more uniform distribution of temperature profiles in the ladle's top and lower zones is produced by this parameter. There is slight difference in the size of the upper and lower recirculation flow zones when the impeller immersion depth is 900 mm. With an impeller rotating at 50 rpm, there is a temperature decrease of roughly 24 °C and a vortex depth that is almost at the top of the impeller.

The article presents a study on the intensification of gas purification from solid particles using the hydrodynamic effect of centrifugal forces. An effective vortex dust collector design has been developed and is being implemented in production for cleaning from harmful impurities. The results of tests conducted at the facility to determine the efficiency of dust collection in a vortex apparatus with a tangential inlet of gas and liquid flow at various operating parameters are presented. The study found that the efficiency of the device increases with an increase in dust concentration. In the vortex apparatus, the efficiency of dust collection increases significantly with an increase in the axial flow velocity, which is characterized by an increase in centrifugal force and separation factor. The optimal operating modes of the developed vortex apparatus have been established in terms of the efficiency of dust collection.

The fluid-structure interaction problem of cylindrical flow around the cylinder is a classic problem, especially in many fields such as energy engineering, fluid dynamics, engineering structure, energy utilization and development, and environmental protection. In this article, we have heard about the simplified model and analyzed it with the help of the classical cylindrical flow model. In this paper, the flow field was pre-processed on the Workbench software platform, and the pressure distribution and eddy current phenomenon were observed by post-processing given the velocity of the flow field of 1m/s. There is a large number of thunder (2.799552×106) and the Carmen Vortex appears around the cylinder. The vortex falls off periodically, and the wake structure is relatively irregular. The maximum pressure appears at the bottom of the cylinder and the maximum deformation at the top. Then, the pressure term of the simulation results was transferred to the Ansys solver for finite element structural analysis to observe the stresses and strains of the structure under the action of fluids. Finally, the response signal is based on Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD). Its periodic signal corresponded to the flow field, and its components were analyzed in detail. The application of VMD in this area provides innovative inspiration for related fields.

An examination of various approaches, methods, and technologies recommended as optimal for safeguarding atmospheric air against dust pollution has led to the identification of the distinct advantages associated with vortex inertial dust collectors utilizing swirling currents. These collectors, referred to as Cyclone Separation Fans (CSF), have been determined to serve as primary and auxiliary equipment in dust removal systems within the production of building materials and other industries. Traditionally employed circuit designs for dust collection systems were also subject to analysis, revealing two prevalent types: open and partially closed air circulation systems. In the latter, a portion of the cleaned airflow is reintroduced into the system, representing a key feature of the design. This assessment underscores the significance of vortex inertial dust collectors, specifically CSFs, as instrumental components in dust removal systems across various industrial sectors. Their effectiveness in mitigating dust pollution, coupled with their versatility as both primary and supplementary equipment, positions them as recommended technologies for atmospheric air protection in the production of building materials and other related industries. The recognition of open and partially closed air circulation systems in traditional dust collection circuit designs further contributes to refining and optimizing dust removal processes for enhanced environmental protection.

In order to clarify the dust production law of railway tunnel drilling and blasting construction, the flow field structure characteristics and the distribution and migration law of drilling dust production in the tunnel under the condition of press-in ventilation were studied by indoor model test and CFD numerical simulation method. The results show that: 1) The dust concentration on the M axis and R axis gradually decreases with the increase of distance from the face of the face. The dust concentration on the L axis showed a small-large-small trend from the palm surface to the outlet of the hair dryer, and the maximum dust concentration appeared at 1m away from the face of the face. 2) Under the condition of press-in ventilation, the flow field structure can be divided into three parts: jet area, vortex area and reflux area, and the proportion of reflux gradually increases from 54% to 100% after three stages. 3) Large particles of dust mainly settle in the area of 1m from the end of the working face on the return air side, and the particle size of the dust settled on the tunnel floor gradually decreases with the increase of the distance from the face face; Most dust particles can settle or discharge the tunnel within 30s, and the vortex area has an adverse effect on the tunnel dust exhaust and dust reduction.

This article is part of a greater adventure in exploring and, especially, designing alternative ecologies of funding and other decentralized autonomous organizations (or DAOs). This speculative design work has led to the creation of The Sphere (www.thesphere.as), a regenerative commons for the live arts. Incidentally, when trying to visually represent some of the Sphere’s choreographies of value, the diagrams tend to take the shape of generative vortex, or, as we like to call them, synthetic swirls. In the context of this article, I propose to take this visual logic of the swirl a little further, and, keeping up with its economic incidences, spiral off on a tangent that eventually leads me into the idiotextual surrounds of Bernard Stiegler’s late work (and hopefully back).
