Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a major neurodegenerative disorder, including neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, synaptic dysfunction, metabolic changes, cognitive impairment, and misfolding of tau protein and amyloid beta peptide (Aß). Several genes associated with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) have been discovered recently through genome-wide association studies (GWAS). However, the relationship between many loci and the likelihood of the occurrence of AD remains unexplained. In this study, we sought to identify variants of this pathogen on different continents using genome-based methodologies and bioinformatics. We found that the variant rs138799625, rs7412, rs61762319, and rs75932628 most likely to damage Alzheimer’s. In addition, these four variants appear to affect the expression of the atp8b4, APOE, MME and TREM2 genes in whole blood tissue. Our findings suggest that these genomic variants require further research for validation in functional studies and clinical trials in Alzheimer’s patients. We conclude that the integration of genome-based databases and bioinformatics can improve our understanding of disease susceptibility, including Alzheimer’s.

This study investigates the automatic creation of column-oriented NoSQL databases in Big Data environments and their impact on energy consumption. Traditional row-oriented databases face limitations in handling large volumes of data, resulting in slower query response times and energy inefficiencies. In contrast, column-oriented NoSQL databases store data in columns, enabling efficient compression, retrieval, and query processing. Innovative techniques are employed to automatically create these databases, optimizing performance and minimizing manual intervention. Storing data in a columnar format reduces storage requirements and power consumption while improving data locality and reducing I/O operations. This study emphasizes the benefits of adopting column-oriented NoSQL databases, including improved performance, scalability, and energy efficiency in Big Data environments.

Both relational databases (RDBs) and XML have strengths and weaknesses as data storage and modeling systems. Most researchers working with historical and literary data in the humanities would argue for the superiority of XML, since it allows unlimited nesting, linking, and complexity. Relational database proponents claim superior querying and processing speed, although recent advances in XML languages and tools have eroded that advantage. Nevertheless, RDBs remain popular and are widely used, particularly in the early stages of projects where resources and metadata are being collected, and projects may end up with both an RDB and an XML document collection. Programmers must then integrate these distinct forms of data when building project outputs. This article discusses the Digital Victorian Periodical Poetry (DVPP) project, where metadata on about 15,000 poems from nineteenth-century periodicals is captured in a MySQL database, and periodically exported to create a TEI file for each poem. Many of the poems are then transcribed and encoded. The canonical source of metadata is the RDB, while the canonical source of textual data is the TEI file. Metadata in the TEI files must be periodically updated from the RDB, without disturbing the textual encoding. Changes to the RDB data may result in changes to the id and filename of the related TEI file, so any existing TEI data is migrated to a new file, and the Subversion repository must be appropriately updated. All of this is done with XSLT and Ant.

Computer Science - Cryptography and Security ,Computer Science - Databases - Abstract
Major transformations related to information technologies affect InformationSystems (IS) that support the business processes of organizations and their actors. Deployment in a complex environment involving sensitive, massive and heterogeneous data generates risks with legal, social and financial impacts. This context of transition and openness makes the security of these IS central to the concerns of organizations. The digitization of all processes and the opening to IoT devices (Internet of Things) has fostered the emergence of a new formof crime, i.e. cybercrime. This generic term covers a number of malicious acts, the majority of which are now perpetrated using social engineering strategies, a phenomenon enabling a combined exploitation of ``human'' vulnerabilities and digital tools. The maliciousness of such attacks lies in the fact that they turn users into facilitators of cyber-attacks, to the point of being perceived as the ``weak link'' of cybersecurity. As deployment policies prove insufficient, it is necessary to think about upstream steps: knowing how to anticipate, identifying weak signals and outliers, detect early and react quickly to computer crime are therefore priority issues requiring a prevention and cooperation approach. In this overview, we propose a synthesis of literature and professional practices on this subject., Comment: in French language, INFORSID 2024, May 2024, Nancy, France

In a randomized study in a teaching context at the university of Lyon, France, we sought to measure the impact of scientific data interpretation on prescription intentions. Two different methodological approaches were used to interpret identical the same scientific data in the context of neuropathic pain treatment and influenced the prescription intentions of general practice residents. This example illustrates the evidence-based medicine approach with prescription of drugs even if the low level of evidence in the two presented vignettes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Emotion recognition is a core element in the development of emotional intelligence in machines. Early models are designed to recognise full-blown emotions which are easily identifiable. However, we rarely experience these types of emotion in our daily lives. Identifying our own and others' emotions with confidence is often difficult: this is called emotional ambiguity. Databases are the building blocks of the development of emotion recognition systems, hence they should introduce ambiguity in emotional representation. This paper summarises the main emotional representations and proposes a literature review of the most used multimodal databases in emotion recognition, with a study of their position on the problem.

Risk management is becoming increasingly more complex. Risk assessment, approached quantitatively, requires a factual database to define the likelihood of adverse health effects of workplace-related injuries and exposures, and it attempts to balance scientific knowledge with concerns of staff, investigators and administration. Practical guidance should be provided for Romanian coal mining companies to make progress in risk assessment process. Guidance is given on how to effectively introduce quantitative risk assessment in mining industry, the main goal being to highlight that the most valuable resource remains experience gained by effectively performing the process. Analyzing how various parameters are described/used, the paper aims to establish the place and role of quantitative risk analysis mining. Possibilities of developing safety/reliability database in coal mining are investigated. The block diagram describing the conceptual structure of a database on failures, safety of equipment and workers in the mining industry was developed. Because mining relies heavily on complex technologies - permanent mining facilities and large mobile equipment and support services - often located in isolated and hostile environments, the implementation of quantitative risk analysis and the development of a realistic database could be considered as a resilience business strategy and conversion of available knowledge into management actions.

- Abstract
Introduction: In a context of intensive clinical development and innovation in oncology, the French National Cancer Institute has developed a horizon scanning focused on emerging anticancer drugs since 2019. This tool aims to provide further insight to national authorities responsible of the access to medicines and policymakers., Methods: EMERGINCaRE is based on an annual cycle initiated by the identification of clinical developments of interest from a database, one to three years prior European marketing authorization. Clinical developments are ranked and prioritized using a scoring approach. Scores are based on public information about developments collected by the Institute and on the evaluation carried out by clinicians who were asked to analyse and identify the most impacting drugs. A national steering committee prioritizes several high-score developments each year., Results: Seventy-five developments were analysed during the 2023 cycle. Among these developments, 50 are related to drugs for solid tumors and 25 for hematological malignancies. At the end of this cycle, six developments, including two concerning Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products, were prioritized. Half of these prioritized developments evaluate a drug for a poor prognosis cancer., Discussion: Among the developments evaluated with a high clinical impact score, some drugs were finally approved for the clinical situation concerned. As first public Horizon Scanning in France, the methodology of EMERGINCaRE has been refined and deadlines have been optimized to provide annually the information generated by this system to interested public institutions., (Copyright © 2024. - Abstract
Objectives: In order to share their knowledge, sterilization unit managers publish the results of their work in journals or at scientific conferences. The aim of Enthalpies is to list all such work in a single database. The work presented describes the construction of this database and the assessment of its feasibility for the washing step., Methods: The first step was to carry out a literature review. Only articles published over 10years (2013-2023) in connection with the ten-year washing stage were included. Then, each publication was categorized, coded, graded and summarized by a pharmacist-internal pair. All this data was collated in an Excel® spreadsheet, and from the data categorization a tree structure was created, enabling the interface between the user and the platform hosting Enthalpies to be understood., Results: Eighty-one publications were identified. These were categorized into 6 themes and 27 sub-themes. A reading grid was drawn up for each publication. Genially®, an online platform, was chosen to host our database., Conclusion: Enthalpies was not designed to issue recommendations for best practice. However, by collating published scientific data, this tool can be used to assist decision-making. It represents an innovative solution for providing a literature review in the field of hospital sterilization., (Copyright © 2024 Académie Nationale de Pharmacie. Published by Elsevier Masson SAS. This contribution falls within the framework of online discourse and contrastive translation with the specific purpose of comparing the ways former American president Donald Trump's threatening tweets have been translated and have circulated in the French online written press. Opening our reflection to the impact of social networks in modern journalism, we will specify the essential role played by translation in the production, transmission and spread of news by mobilizing some key concepts (e.g. transediting). Our article also aims to offer new insights into the complex speech act of threat and its digital use in political tweets. For this, we will draw a synthesis of the main characteristics of threat, supported by a brief description of what is called argumentum ad baculum. In the light of the above, through a sample of tweets derived from the Trump Twitter Archive, we will investigate threat from a perspective which also emphasizes technolinguistic features specific to Twitter and, subsequently, we will provide an overview of the different translation choices that were observed in the articles of the French online national newspapers, collected from Europresse database and Google. To do this, the analysis is characterized by a contrastive approach as it will be based on the different versions of the abovementioned messages inserted in the news electronic texts by the journalist-translator. - Abstract
Introduction: Indigenous people in Canada encounter negative treatment when accessing primary health care (PHC). Despite several qualitative accounts of these experiences, there still has not been a qualitative review conducted on this topic. In this qualitative systematic review, we aimed to explore Indigenous people's experiences in Canada with PHC services, determine urban versus rural or remote differences and identify recommendations for quality improvement., Methods: This review was guided by the Joanna Briggs Institute's methodology for systematic reviews of qualitative evidence. MEDLINE, CINAHL, PubMed, PsycInfo, Embase and Web of Science as well as grey literature and ancestry sources were used to identify relevant articles. Ancestry sources were obtained through reviewing the reference lists of all included articles and determining the ones that potentially met the eligibility criteria. Two independent reviewers conducted the initial and full text screening, data extraction and quality assessment. Once all data were gathered, they were synthesized following the meta-aggregation approach (PROSPERO CRD42020192353)., Results: The search yielded a total of 2503 articles from the academic databases and 12 articles from the grey literature and ancestry sources. Overall, 22 articles were included in this review. Three major synthesized findings were revealed-satisfactory experiences, discriminatory attitudes and systemic challenges faced by Indigenous patients-along with one synthesized finding on their specific recommendations., Conclusion: Indigenous people value safe, accessible and respectful care. The discrimination and racism they face negatively affect their overall health and well-being. Hence, it is crucial that changes in health care practice, structures and policy development as well as systemic transformation be implemented immediately., Competing Interests: The authors declare there are no conflicts of interest.

- Abstract
We are taking advantage of the launch of the latest version (v4.6) of our web-based data mining tool "breast cancer gene-expression miner" (bc-GenExMiner) to take stock of its position within the oncology research landscape and to present an activity report ten years after its establishment (http://bcgenex.ico.unicancer.fr). bc-GenExMiner is an open-access, user-friendly tool for statistical mining on breast tumor transcriptomes, annotated with more than 20 clinicopathologic and molecular characteristics. The database comprises more than 16,000 patients from 64 cohorts - including TCGA, METABRIC and SCAN-B - for whom several thousands of genes have been quantified by microarrays or RNA-seq. Correlation, expression and prognostic analyses are available for targeted, exhaustive or customized explorations of queried genes. bc-GenExMiner facilitates the validation, investigation, and prioritization of discoveries and hypotheses on genes of interest. It allows users to analyse large databases, create data visualizations, and obtain robust statistical analysis, thereby accelerating biomarker discovery. Ten years after its launch, judging by the number of visits, analyses, and scientific citations of bc-GenExMiner, we conclude that this web resource serves its purpose in the international scientific community working in breast cancer research, with a never-ending rise in its use., (Copyright © 2021 Société Française du Cancer. Objective: To synthesize empirical research results about effectuation responses to crises with the intention of offering results that are already potentially useful for new research and the practice of entrepreneurs. Methodology/approach: With a systematic literature review (SLR), publications on the subject were mapped, highlighting mainly their contributions, but also registering their research methods, their foundations and the types of crises studied. The treated articles come from the Scopus and Web of Science article databases. Originality/value: Applying a thematic focus that was not yet used before, but that is necessary, the study contributes for the understanding of the entrepreneurial behavior supported on effectuation in crisis contexts. Main results: The SLR identified 14 articles dealing with three types of crises (financial, regarding health and natural crises) responded using effectuation indicating a tendency to the growth of the number of publications about the focused subject. Research needs and paths were characterized to be exploited in new researches. Theoretical/methodological contributions: Central contributions are the description of relations between the effectual principals (bird in hand, affordable loss, crazy quilt, lemonade, and pilot in the plane) and effectuation use in response to three types of crises and the synthetic characterization of relevant publications about the focused subject, which constitutes a facilitator for more researchers interested in the same subject. Social/management contributions: Social actors and managers can use the contents of this article to better understand how the response to crises using effectuation is being carried out in real situations studied in the identified articles of the SLR. This way, their repertoire of useful knowledge to more successfully act in entrepreneurship in the face of crises will be broader. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Context: Standard methods for the detection and quantification of safety signals may be inefficient in the field of onco-pharmacology, especially in rare settings. Materials and methods: We developed four new methods based on pharmacovigilance databases and safety meta-analysis. Results: In an adjusted disproportionality analysis following missing data imputation, we highlighted an association between some disease modifying therapies prescribed to persons with multiple sclerosis. The model added meaningful clinical readability, thanks to the adjustment. Added value of having missing data imputed was poor on both magnitude and precision of the estimates. The rechallenge was described following immune-related adverse effects of immune checkpoint inhibitors, in a large cohort (452 cases). We described use of rechallenge in multiple settings, including by type of adverse effect, and we computed a recurrence rate. Factors associated with over-reporting of recurrence and, in a separate work, of mortality, were performed among immunotherapy-related cases. We identified drug-, concurrent conditions-related and administrative factors associated with these outcomes. The prioritization of data sources in the safety meta-analysis allowed for an almost two-fold higher detection of cardiovascular adverse events, in immune checkpoint inhibitors randomized clinical trials, as compared with standard methods, although the research setting was very close (number of patients, number of studies, dates). Conclusions: Drug rechallenge, factors associated with over-reporting of outcomes, and the prioritization of data sources in the meta-analysis appear very meaningful methods. Dedicated evaluation of these methods is warranted to determine how and when to use them, as compared with the standard ones. Further development could look for more clinically explaining models, as with mediation analyses, or move to automatized meta-analysis processes for large scale quantification of drug efficacy and safety.

- Abstract
Introduction: Due to the risk of overdoses increase especially with methadone, a reinforced monitoring has been set up by the French Addictovigilance Network following the first lockdown related to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In this context, we managed a specific study to analyze overdoses related to methadone in 2020 compared to 2019., Material and Methods: We analyzed methadone-related overdoses which occurred in 2019 and 2020 from two sources: DRAMES program (deaths with toxicological analysis) and the French pharmacovigilance database (BNPV) (overdoses that did not lead to death)., Results: Data from DRAMES program in 2020 show methadone as the first drug involved in deaths as well as an increase in deaths: in number (n=230 versus n=178), in proportion (41% versus 35%) and number of deaths per 1000 exposed subjects (3.4 versus 2.8). According to BNPV, the number of overdose increased in 2020 compared to 2019 (98 versus 79; i.e., 1.2-fold increase) particularly during several target periods: first lockdown, end of lockdown/summer period and second lockdown. In 2020, a higher number of cases were observed in April (n=15) and May (n=15). Overdoses and deaths occurred in subjects enrolled in treatment programs or not (naïve subjects/occasional users who obtained methadone from street market or family/friends). Overdoses resulted from different factors: overconsumption, multiple drug use with depressants drugs or cocaine, injection, consumption for sedative, recreational purposes or voluntary drug poisoning., Discussion/conclusion: All these data show an increase of morbidity and mortality related to methadone during COVID-19 epidemic. This trend has been observed in other countries., (Copyright © 2023 Société française de pharmacologie et de thérapeutique. Published by Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.)

- Abstract
Since the birth of the general theory of terminology, there is an obvious need to coordinate and harmonize terminologies of various fields. In order to meet the needs of contemporary specialized communication, it is necessary to develop terminologies in a systematic way and ensure their stability. Terminological standardization is closely linked to the language policy of the respective country. Some of them have authorities responsible for their language policy. Nevertheless, the extent of their intervention in the evolution of the language can considerably differ. Terminological databases rank among the tools used by standardization authorities for harmonization and standardization of terminologies. The article presents the main francophone terminological databases, their main objectives, features, and contents, namely FranceTerm, managed by the Commission d'enrichissement de la langue française falling under the jurisdiction of the French Ministry of Culture, BelTerme, managed by the Direction de la Langue française of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, TERMDAT, managed by the Federal Chancellery of the Swiss federal administration, TermiumPlus of the Canadian government, and Grand Dictionnaire terminologique of the Office québécois de la langue française. The densification of urban basements into distribution networks leads to interventions involving different actors. These interventions generally impact the roadway, that is to say the entire road infrastructure, both structurally (vertical component) and superficially (horizontal component). In addition to the financial costs, each intervention can weaken the structure and disturb the various users. Our work aims at optimizing interventions by improving the coordinated management of data related to the road and its environment in a spatial reference frame. For that, we aim at a modeling adapted to the management of the infrastructure integrating the roadway and its constituent elements with the materials and their thicknesses. Our approach is organized in four axes: 1/ A description of the roadway's constituent elements, to propose a coherent vision to the actors. 2/ A study of the existing data for the management of the infrastructure, in order to identify the knowledge and the needs. 3/ A GIS modeling of the infrastructure to help communities to produce their data. 4/ An analysis of spatial interactions between roads and networks, to open discussions on construction choices. This article retraces all the work carried out for the four axes and proposes to open the debate on the design of a spatial reference system for roads adapted to their management., Comment: in French language

Today with Big Data and data lakes, we are faced of a mass of data that is very difficult to manage it manually. The protection of personal data in this context requires an automatic analysis for data discovery. Storing the names of attributes already analyzed in a knowledge base could optimize this automatic discovery. To have a better knowledge base, we should not store any attributes whose name does not make sense. In this article, to check if the name of an attribute has a meaning, we propose a solution that calculate the distances between this name and the words in a dictionary. Our studies on the distance functions like N-Gram, Jaro-Winkler and Levenshtein show limits to set an acceptance threshold for an attribute in the knowledge base. In order to overcome these limitations, our solution aims to strengthen the score calculation by using an exponential function based on the longest sequence. In addition, a double scan in dictionary is also proposed in order to process the attributes which have a compound name., Comment: in French language

The NLP tools for the automatic recognition and annotation of titles of figurative artworks from The Classical World, developed by the MonumenTAL project, have evolved through the digital modeling of linguistic patterns. These have helped to broaden the focus from the titles of specific artworks to the naming of generic iconographic types, and to add old and recent expressions specific to art historians and archaeologists. Thanks to this work based on a diachronic approach, a thesaurus of artwork titles (OEUVRE) gathering reference terms, variants and cacographies has been created and is now linked to the online LIMCFrance database (corpus of Ancient artworks). The text corpus (Gold standard), from the 18th to the 21st century, and its annotations can now be exploited for statistical analysis or deep learning experimentation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ROMAN antiquities ,SCIENTIFIC community ,DATABASES ,INFORMATION sharing ,WORK design - Abstract
The Diphuès database is an open access research, exchange and dialogue tool devoted to the half-human half-vegetal figures in Roman Antiquity. It is the result of two research projects that have been carried out since 2012 under the aegis of the F.R.S.-FNRS (Fonds de la recherche scientifique de Belgique). From 2024, it will be made available in open access to the international scientific community by the 'Service d'Histoire de l'art et Archéologie de l'Antiquité gréco-romaine' (SHAArAGR) and the 'Centre Informatique de Philosophie & Lettres' (CIPL) of the University of Liège. Diphuès is based on a corpus originally designed as a personal work tool to serve specific research objectives. This tool has undergone several major modifications, in its structure and purpose, so that it can be used to produce new knowledge. Its network application is seen as the final stage in the research communication process and is part of a wider effort to share knowledge and resources. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The reconstruction of geographical data over a century, allows to figuring out the evolution of the French railway landscape, and how it has been impacted by major events (eg.: WWII), or longer time span processes : industry outsourcing, metropolization, public transport policies or absence of them. This work is resulting from the fusion of several public geographical data (SNCF, IGN), enriched with the computer-assisted addition of multiple data gathered on the Internet (Wikipedia, volunteer geographic information). The dataset compounds almost every rail stations (even simple stops) and railway branch nodes, whose link to their respective rail lines allows to build the underlying consistent graph of the network. Every rail line has a "valid to" date (or approx) so that time evolution can be displayed. The present progress of that reconstruction sums up to roughly 90% of what is expected (exact total unknown). This allows to consider temporal demographic analysis (how many cities and towns served by the railway since 1925 up on today), and environmental simulations as well (CO2 cost by given destination )., Comment: in French. - Abstract
The French health insurance data warehouse named SNDS is one of the largest medico-administrative in the world allowing for powerful pharmacoepidemiological studies, based on real-life data collected prospectively. In addition to the absolute necessity of a strong pharmacological rationale, recommendations have been thought to improve the quality of pharmacoepidemiological studies. These guidelines emphasize the importance of an accurate definition of the study population, outcome and exposure, especially for studies performed on medico-administrative databases. Compliance with certain guidelines, particularly those concerning the identification of a specific population or an outcome and the definition of risk periods or exposure periods, may be difficult when performing studies on the SNDS because of its structure and the nature of the data recorded. The objective of this article is to provide advice for the conduct of pharmacoepidemiological studies according to the recommendationswhen using the SNDS, given its specificities. The performing of reliable studies from this rich but complex data warehouse requires the expertise of researchers with deep knowledge both in the SNDS and in pharmacological reasoning., (Copyright © 2023 Société française de pharmacologie et de thérapeutique. The article is devoted to the development of databases of the factographic reference system. The method of formalization of normative information is proposed. The classification of tables into “descriptive” and “prescriptive” has been introduced. The article describes an approach to the formalization of “prescriptive” tables, all the parameters of which are divided into two groups – quantitative and qualitative. SR 30.13330.2020 Internal water supply and sewerage of buildings Chapter 7 “Fire-fighting water supply” and Appendix J “Water consumption for firefighting” were chosen as the object of formalization. The data structure required to determine the internal fire extinguishing device, the number of fire cranes and water consumption is presented. A fragment of the database “Water consumption” and screen forms of the developed application “Water consumption for firefighting” are presented. The input data for the application is the type of building and the parameters depending on the type of building, the result is information about the need for fire-fighting plumbing and a link to the document. The presented example of expanding the database with information from SR 486.1311500.2020 indicates the flexibility of the proposed approach.

- Abstract
Purpose: During prostatic radiotherapy, damage to several anatomical structures could be the cause of erectile dysfunction: corpora cavernosa, internal pudendal arteries, penile bulb, and neurovascular bundles. Numerous studies have analysed the correlations between the dose received by these structures and erectile function. The objective of this article is to make a systematic review on current knowledge., Materials and Methods: A systematic review was performed in the Medline database using the search engine PubMed. Keywords for the search included: erectile dysfunction, penile bulb, corpora cavernosa, cavernosum, neurovascular bundles, radiation therapy, cancer, prostate cancer. The selected articles must study a correlation between erectile dysfunction and the dose received by anatomical structures. A total of 152 articles were identified. Of these 152 articles, 45 fulfilled the defined selection criteria., Results: For corpora cavernosa, seven studies were identified, only two studies demonstrated a significant correlation between the dose received by corpora cavernosa and the occurrence of erectile dysfunction. For penile bulb, only 15 of 23 studies showed a correlation. A mean dose on the penile bulb greater than 20Gy was found to be predictive of erectile dysfunction. None of the eight trials concerning neurovascular bundles succeeded to show a correlation between dose and erectile dysfunction. Only one study evaluated the relationship between the dose received by internal pudendal arteries and erectile dysfunction but was found to be negative. However, vessels-sparing studies showed good results on erectile function preservation without compromising the target volume., Conclusion: We currently have little data to show a correlation between erectile dysfunction and sexual structures. It would be necessary to have additional prospective studies evaluating the impact of an optimization on these sexual structures on erectile dysfunction., (Copyright © 2023. Introduction: Pulmonary embolism (PE) is the major complication of thromboembolic disease. While a few qualitative studies have explored patient experience after PE, to our knowledge no literature review is available to date. The aim of this work was to explore patient experience after a PE episode through a systematic review of the literature comprising: patient experience, clinicians' perception of the patients' attitude and knowledge, and the patients' perception of VTE prevention strategies., Methods: A search of PubMed, Web of science, Cochrane and EMBASE databases. The search was conducted without filters. Search results were combined and duplicates were removed. The selection was blinded by two independent researchers using the Rayyan application., Results: Fifty studies were assessed for quality and 23 were included. Individual semi-structured interviews and focus groups were widely used to explore patient experience after a PE episode. Patients described deterioration in their quality of life, their psychological state and an initial feeling of carer abandonment. The trends observed appear to be more pronounced in patients with an episode characterized as unprovoked., Conclusion: These preliminary results call for further longitudinal studies, the objective being to better understand the evolution of these factors in the short and long terms., (Copyright © 2023 SPLF. - Abstract
Aim: To identify the predictive factors for the publication of theses defended at the Faculty of Medicine of Sousse (FMSO) in Tunisia., Methods: The development of the dissertation was studied following the interrogation of three databases "Medline", "Scopus" and "article @INIST" as well as "Scholar Google". The drafting quality of the thesis summary was assessed using a grid of 20 iso-weighted items. The predictors of publication were studied by binary logistic regression, with a significance level of 10%., Results: Out of the 670 theses defended at the FMSO, the mention "proposal for the thesis prize" was awarded for 22% of the thesis students. These theses were of the "clinical" type in 68% of cases, 80% of which were in "case study" format. The writing quality was deemed satisfactory in 47% of the theses. The publication rate was only 10.3%. The univariate analysis found three factors determining the publication of theses: the field of non-clinical research: epidemiological or fundamental, good editorial quality and the mention "proposal for the thesis prize". After adjustment, the latter was the only independent predictor of the publication of the thesis (ORa=1.60[1.007-2.559])., Conclusion: This low rate of publication of theses at the FMSO illustrates the difficulties of thesis students and their directors in research methodology and scientific writing. Theses accepted with distinction must be better accompanied to facilitate their publication.

Although epidemiology is part of a strong tradition of data quantification and standardization, it mobilizes various sources, in particular archives. This article therefore looks at this little-known reuse, focusing especially on cohort studies and morbidity registers. It examines the changes in data value and status when processing archival documents into databases through four research stages: source data analysis, coding, data quality evaluation and, eventually, the reconstitution of missing data.

Many museums have undertaken to dispose of their collections. They are forced to do so by the overcrowding of their storerooms and the real estate pressure in the centers of the large cities where they are located. Should all or part of the collections be discarded, donated, or digitized? Because of the detailed inventory, the ten-yearly recoiling, and the creation of the French Joconde database, supposed to gather all the descriptions and photographic reproductions of all the works and items of the 1,100 museums in France, the management of the collections has become a colossal task that may never be completed. There is a high risk that the disappearance of the collections will be accompanied by the de-semiotization of the museological masterpieces created and set up in the different types of exhibition discourse in the course of the history of museums and their exhibitions. Throughout the 17
th and 18th centuries, French monarchs offered important privileges to citizens of German Imperial Cities and to Swiss merchants. Enjoying fiscal advantages necessitated a special registration of their commercial marks after having proved the origin of their users. 208 Swiss and 33 German registration acts scattered among the records of the town council of Lyon were used to build a database. A systematic analysis of this database shows, firstly, how and why Swiss merchants registered their marks, their geographical origins, and how the rhythms of this practice were connected to the French political context. Secondly, the graphical aspect of the mark was considered. A comparison of the symbolic material with the data available about medieval uses reveals significant evolutions. Five illustration boards are presented, in the hope of a European synthesis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

Improvement of life expectancy in people with Down syndrome (DS) is associated with new problems such as cognitive decline associated with aging and screening/diagnosis for Alzheimer's disease (AD) in this population. The aim of this review is to identify the main tools used in the literature for the cognitive evaluation in this population. Research was conducted on PsycINFO, PubMed, Web of Science and Wiley databases and Google Scholar from July to November 2020, concerning persons with DS, aged of 18 years or more, and evaluated with cognitive assessment scales.196 assessment tools were identified among the 85 articles included. However, most tools had not been validated in French, and only one third were specifically designed for a diagnosis of AD in people with DS. These results underline the need to develop specific tools for the diagnosis of AD in people with DS and validated in French. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
