Abstract The data scale keeps growing by leaps and the majority of it is high‐dimensional imbalanced data, which is hard to classify. Data missing often happens in software which further aggravates the difficulty of classifying the data. In order to resolve high‐dimensional imbalanced mixed‐variables missing data classification problem, a novel method based on particle swarm optimization is developed. It has three original components including multiple feature selection, mixed attribute imputation, and quantum oversampling. Multiple feature selection uses a two‐stage strategy to obtain stable relevant features. Mixed attribute imputation separates features into continuous and discrete features and fills missing values with different models. Quantum oversampling chooses instances to balance data based on the quantum operator. Furthermore, particle swarm optimization is employed to optimize the parameters of the components to obtain preferable classification results. Six representative classification datasets, six typical algorithms, and four measures are taken to conduct exhaust experiments, and results indicate that the proposed method is superior to the comparison algorithms.

Gait, fundamental to human movement, becomes compromised in cerebral palsy (CP), a childhood‐onset central nervous system motor disorder. Precise assessment of patients’ gait is crucial for tailored rehabilitation interventions. Currently, clinical scales assessing CP gait dysfunction mostly, while valuable, rely on subjective clinician observations. To enhance objectivity and efficiency in CP diagnosis and rehabilitation, there is a need for more objective assessment procedures. This study introduces a multi‐modal and multi‐scale feature fusion (MMFF) framework, a new framework for automating gait dysfunction assessment in children with CP. By utilizing surface electromyography and acceleration signals recorded during children's walking, MMFF generates a feature vector enriched with adaptively refined feature maps, cross‐mode correlations, and both local and global information. Validation of MMFF's effectiveness is evident through an accomplished classification accuracy of 99.13%. The mean values for precision, recall, and F1‐score in Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS)‐1, GMFCS‐2, and GMFCS‐3, reaching 99.00%, 99.00%, and 98.33%, respectively, further reflect the accuracy of functional assessments at each level. This study underscores MMFF's potential as an objective, streamlined tool for clinicians, promising improved gait assessment and well‐informed rehabilitation strategies for children with CP.

Data missing is a ubiquitous problem in real-world systems that adversely affects the performance of machine learning algorithms. Although many useful imputation methods are available to address this issue, they often fail to consider the information provided by both features and labels. As a result, the performance of these methods might be constrained. Furthermore, feature selection as a data quality improvement technique has been widely used and has demonstrated its efficiency. To overcome the limitation of imputation methods, we propose a novel algorithm that combines data imputation and feature selection to tackle classification problems for mixed data. Based on the mean and standard deviation of quantitative features and the selecting probabilities of unique values of categorical features, our algorithm constructs different imputation models for quantitative and categorical features. Particle swarm optimization is used to optimize the parameters of the imputation models and select feature subsets simultaneously. Additionally, we introduce a legacy learning mechanism to enhance the optimization capability of our method. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, seven algorithms and twelve datasets are used for comparison. The results show that our algorithm outperforms other algorithms in terms of accuracy and F1 score and has reasonable time overhead.

Abstract Data missing is a prevalent issue in various real‐world systems. It may deteriorate the performance of classification algorithms running on these platforms. Numerous effective imputation methods exist to address this problem. However, traditional data imputation approaches mainly focus on low‐dimensional missing data, and in addition, they do not make use of the randomness of the missing values and the information of labels simultaneously. To solve these problems, the authors propose a novel data imputation algorithm, named Particle Swarm Optimization for High‐dimensional mixed Missing variables data (PSOHM). PSOHM introduces a feature filtering algorithm for feature selection on missing data, followed by a feature discrimination method to categorize chosen features. PSOHM then employs particle swarm optimization to optimize imputation functions for both continuous and discrete features. Continuous features are modelled as Gaussian distributions, with the mean and standard deviation encoded into particles. Additionally, the probabilities of values for discrete features are also encoded. Moreover, accuracy serves as the optimization objective, utilizing both the randomness of missing values and the label information to improve the algorithm's performance. Six typical algorithms are employed to make a comparison. The results demonstrate that the authors’ method is superior to the compared approaches on the six different kinds of classical datasets.

Abstract High‐dimensional imbalanced multi‐classification problems (HDIMCPs) occur frequently in engineering applications such as medical detection, item classification, and email classification. However, there is a paucity of research in the academic community on this topic. This paper proposes an evolutionary algorithm‐based classification method for HDIMCPs, named HIMALO (high‐dimensional imbalanced multi‐classification method based on ant lion optimizer). HIMALO proposes a new individual initialization strategy that replaces the random initialization of the ant lion optimizer with Fuch chaos. Then, it encodes individuals using concatenated sample features and base classifier weights, optimizes these features and weights concurrently during the iteration process. Additionally, a multi‐classification strategy, union one versus many, that combines one versus all and one‐against‐higher‐order is proposed. Numerous experiments are conducted to prove the superior classification performance and stability of HIMALO when compared with other algorithms.

Abstract PandaX-4T is a ton-scale dark matter direct detection experiment using a dual-phase TPC technique at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory. Various ultra-low background technologies have been developed and applied to material screening for PandaX-4T, including HPGe gamma spectroscopy, ICP-MS, NAA, radon emanation measurement system, krypton assay station, and alpha detection system. Low background materials were selected to assemble the detector. Surface treatment procedures were investigated to further suppress radioactive background. Combining measured results and Monte Carlo simulation, the total material background rates of PandaX-4T in the energy region of 1–25 keVee are estimated to be (9.9 ± 1.9) × 10 −3 mDRU for electron recoil and (2.8 ± 0.6) × 10 −4 mDRU for nuclear recoil. In addition, natKr in the detector is estimated to be < 8 ppt.

Coronavirus causes significant damage to human health and the global economy. In this paper, we undertake patent analysis and data mining to systematically analyze the trend in patent applications for coronavirus detection, prevention, and treatment technologies. Our goals are to determine the correlation between typical coronavirus outbreaks and changes in patent technology applications, and to compare the research and development (R&D) progress, patent layout, and characteristics of major institutions in various countries experiencing coronavirus outbreaks. We find that the United States commenced coronavirus detection and vaccine technology R&D earlier than other countries, as it attached importance to the R&D for treatment technologies from the time of the SARS outbreak and initiated the trend of multi-party R&D, with full technology chain coverage by the government, enterprises, universities, and research institutions. China’s patent applications have grown rapidly in recent years, mainly based on the R&D of research institutions and universities, although it has formed full technology chain coverage. However, the patent quality and technology global layout still need to be improved. This paper reviews the patent development trends of important coronavirus technologies, and proposes that policymakers should establish a long-term mechanism for R&D, pay attention to intellectual property protection, and deepen international technical cooperation to provide a reference for the development and application of coronavirus detection technology, vaccine technology, and treatment technology.

The existing cyberspace attack and defense method can be regarded as game, but most of the game only involves network information, not include cyberspace's states, attacker's and defender's actions. To address this challenge, this paper proposed a cyberspace attack and defense game model based on reinforcement learning. By establishing two agents, representing the attacker and the defender respectively, defender will select the actions in the cyberspace to obtain defender's optimal reward by reinforcement learning. In order to improve the defense ability of defender, a game model based on reward randomization reinforcement learning is proposed. When the defender takes the defense action, the reward is randomly given and subject to linear distribution, so as to find the better defense policy and improve defense successfully rate. The experimental results show that the game model can effectively simulate the attack and defense state of cyberspace, and the reward randomization reinforcement learning method has a higher defense success rate than existing methods. © 2001 Elsevier Science. We present the constraints on the axial-vector and pseudo-scalar mediated WIMP-nucleus interactions from the PandaX-4T experiment, using the data set corresponding to a total exposure of 0.63 tonne⋅year. No significant signal excess is observed, and the most stringent constraints to date on the mediator mass are set for the axial-vector and pseudo-scalar simplified models. The maximum excluded mass of an axial-vector mediator is 825 GeV/c2 and that of a pseudo-scalar mediator is 106 GeV/c2. In addition, the upper limits on the spin-dependent WIMP-nucleon scattering cross-section for conventional neutron-only and proton-only interactions are derived.

Abstract The electromagnetic situation, which can promote the abilities of understanding and decision‐making for the battlefield, has attracted significant interest recently in information‐based warfare. This paper investigates the deep learning‐based electromagnetic situation analysis and judgment in a complicated battlefield environment. To comprehensively simulate the two‐sided battling process, a turn‐based confrontation strategy is proposed, and an electromagnetic situation analysis and judgment model are then designed based on the AlphaGo Zero algorithm to achieve efficient situation analysis and decision‐making. In addition, an electromagnetic situation‐based attack‐defense platform is developed to realize and evaluate this designed model. Simulation results demonstrate that this designed model achieves significant performance in electromagnetic situation analysis and judgment compared with the Monte Carlo Tree Search based baseline.

Abstract Feature selection is a widely used data pre‐processing method. However, the research on feature selection stability is very rare. Although there are some related studies that mainly focus on filters rather than wrappers, especially wrappers based on evolutionary algorithms. In this paper, a stable feature selection method called stable brain storm optimisation (SBSO) is proposed. It puts forward a new population initialisation strategy, which treats stable feature selection results as guide information for initialisation and utilises such chaos to initialise population. SBSO also sets up an information archive to store the historical optimal individuals dynamically. A large number of experiments show that SBSO gives excellent classification performance when compared with other methods, and superior feature selection stability when compared with other wrappers.

In the two-component Majorana dark matter model, one dark matter particle can scatter off the target nuclei, and turn into a slightly heavier component. In the framework of a simplified model with a vector boson mediator, both the tree-level and loop-level processes contribute to the signal in direct detection experiment. In this paper, we report the search results for such dark matter from PandaX-II experiment, using total data of the full 100.7 tonne⋅day exposure. No significant excess is observed, so strong constraints on the combined parameter space of mediator mass and dark matter mass are derived. With the complementary search results from collider experiments, a large range of parameter space can be excluded.

Deaf and hearing-impaired people always face communication barriers. Non-invasive surface electromyography (sEMG) sensor-based sign language recognition (SLR) technology can help them to better integrate into social life. Since the traditional tandem convolutional neural network (CNN) structure used in most CNN-based studies inadequately captures the features of the input data, we propose a novel inception architecture with a residual module and dilated convolution (IRDC-net) to enlarge the receptive fields and enrich the feature maps, applying it to SLR tasks for the first time. This work first transformed the time domain signal into a time–frequency domain using discrete Fourier transformation. Second, an IRDC-net was constructed to recognize ten Chinese sign language signs. Third, the tandem CNN networks VGG-net and ResNet-18 were compared with our proposed parallel structure network, IRDC-net. Finally, the public dataset Ninapro DB1 was utilized to verify the generalization performance of the IRDC-net. The results showed that after transforming the time domain sEMG signal into the time–frequency domain, the classification accuracy (acc) increased from 84.29% to 91.70% when using the IRDC-net on our sign language dataset. Furthermore, for the time–frequency information of the public dataset Ninapro DB1, the classification accuracy reached 89.82%; this value is higher than that achieved in other recent studies. As such, our findings contribute to research into SLR tasks and to improving deaf and hearing-impaired people’s daily lives.

Terahertz video synthetic aperture radar (THz-ViSAR) has tremendous research and application value due to its high resolution and high frame rate imaging benefits. However, it requires more efficient imaging algorithms. Thus, a novel multistage back projection fast imaging algorithm for the THz-ViSAR system is proposed in this paper to enable continuous playback of images like video. The radar echo data of the entire aperture is first divided into multiple sub-apertures, as with the fast-factorized back projection algorithm (FFBP). However, there are two improvements in sub-aperture imaging. On the one hand, the back projection algorithm (BPA) is replaced by the polar format algorithm (PFA) to improve the sub-aperture imaging efficiency. The imaging process, on the other hand, uses the global Cartesian coordinate system rather than the local polar coordinate system, and the wavenumber domain data of the full aperture are obtained step by step through simple splicing and fusion, avoiding the amount of two-dimensional (2D) interpolation operations required for local polar coordinate system transformation in FFBP. Finally, 2D interpolation for full-resolution images is carried out to image the ground object targets in the same coordinate system due to the geometric distortion caused by linear phase error (LPE) and the mismatch of coordinate systems in different imaging frames. The simulation experiments of point targets and surface targets both verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm. Under the same conditions, the running time of the proposed algorithm is only about 6% of FFBP, while the imaging quality is guaranteed.

High-frequency vibration of motion platform leads to paired echo for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging, especially in terahertz band due to its shorter wave length. Different from most existing parameters estimation methods only considering single component high-frequency vibration, in this paper a novel method considering multi-components vibration model is proposed based on fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) with combination of quasi-maximum likelihood (QML) and random sample consensus (RANSAC). Based on the model establishment of high-frequency vibration error in the echo, its instantaneous chirp rate (ICR) is firstly estimated by FrFT in sliding sub-aperture, followed which the vibration parameters are coarsely obtained through spectrum analysis and least square (LS) regression. To further refine the parameters estimates, QML is developed for compensating the deviation both caused by the frequency spectrum leakage and the error propagation effects by one-dimensional search over the vibration frequency. Meanwhile, RANSAC is adopted for avoiding the outlier of the ICR estimates in LS regression, especially at low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Thus, the refinement strategy based on the combination of QML and RANSAC is developed, whose utilization improves the estimation accuracy of vibration parameters. Finally, the paired echo in terahertz SAR (THz-SAR) imaging is effectively suppressed by the proposed method, and the high-quality THz-SAR imaging results are achieved. Both simulations of single component and multi-components high-frequency vibration are used to verify the validity of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the proposed method has higher estimation accuracy even at low SNR.

Precise measurement of two-neutrino double beta decay (DBD) half-life is an important step for the searches of Majorana neutrinos with neutrinoless double beta decay. We report the measurement of DBD half-life of 136Xe using the PandaX-4T dual-phase Time Projection Chamber (TPC) with 3.7-tonne natural xenon and the first 94.9-day physics data release. The background model in the fiducial volume is well constrained in situ by events in the outer active region. With a 136Xe exposure of 15.5 kg-year, we establish the half-life as 2.27±0.03stat.±0.10syst.×1021 years. This is the first DBD half-life measurement with natural xenon and demonstrates the physics capability of a large-scale liquid xenon TPC in the field of rare event searches.

Abstract High‐dimensional data exists widely in the real world, such as gene, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), text, web data and so on. Feature selection is an effective and powerful method that is often adopted to reduce dimensions of high‐dimensional data for promoting learning algorithm's ability to obtain useful information from them. However, feature selection stability lacks attention for a long time, which plays an important role in getting compelling results. This study proposes a stable feature selection approach called stable ant‐antlion optimiser (SALO) that is a modified hybrid evolutionary method combining ant colony optimisation and antlion optimiser. Several relative stable filter methods are employed to rank features as guide information, fisher discriminant rate is used to evaluate features as heuristic information, and F1 indicator and the similarity between feature subset and stable ranked feature list are taken as optimisation objects. Comprehensive experiments show the fantasy stability and excellent classification performance of our proposed sophisticated method.

We present PandaX-II constraints on candidate WIMP-nucleon effective interactions involving the nucleon or WIMP spin, including, in addition to standard axial spin-dependent (SD) scattering, various couplings among vector and axial currents, magnetic and electric dipole moments, and tensor interactions. The data set corresponding to a total exposure of 54-ton-days is reanalyzed to determine constraints as a function of the WIMP mass and isospin coupling. We obtain WIMP-nucleon cross section bounds of 1.6×10−41 cm2 and 9.0×10−42 cm2 (90% c.l.) for neutron-only SD and tensor coupling, respectively, for a mass MWIMP∼40GeV/c2. The SD limits are the best currently available for MWIMP>40GeV/c2. We show that PandaX-II has reached a sensitivity sufficient to probe a variety of other candidate spin-dependent interactions at the weak scale. Truth discovery methods aim to identify which piece of information is trustworthy from multi-sourced data. Most existing truth discovery methods, however, are designed for structured data and fail to meet the strong need to extract trustworthy information from raw text data. More specifically, existing methods ignore the semantic information of text answers, i.e., answers may contain multiple factors, the word usages may be diverse, and the answers may be partially correct. In addition, ubiquitous long-tail phenomenon exists in the tasks, i.e., most users provide only a few answers and only a few users provide plenty of answers, which causes the user reliability estimation for small users to be unreasonable. To tackle these challenges, we propose a Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) based truth discovery model to automatically discover trustworthy information from text data. Firstly, Smooth Inverse Frequency (SIF) is utilized to learn real-valued vector representations for answers. Then, we construct undirected graph with these vectors to capture the structural information of answers. Finally, the GCN is utilized to store and update the reliability of these answers, and sums up all the feature vectors of all neighboring answers to improve the accuracy and efficiency of truth discovery. Different from traditional methods, we use vectors to store the reliability of answers which have higher representation capability compared with real numbers, and network is utilized to capture complex relationships among answers rather than simplified functions. The experiment results on real datasets show that though text data structures are complex, our model can still find reliable answers compared with retrieval-based and state-of-the-art truth discovery methods.

Collaborative filtering recommendation with implicit feedbacks (e.g., clicks, views, and plays) is regarded as one of the most challenging issues in both academia and industry. From implicit feedbacks, we can only get a small fraction of observed data (positive examples), and the massive unobserved data are the mixture of negative examples and unlabeled positive examples. However, most of the existing efforts either treat unobserved data equally by assigning a uniform weight or uniformly weight observed data while ignoring the hidden information (i.e., visit frequency) in implicit feedbacks. This assumption may not hold in real-life scenarios since they cannot distinguish the contributions of the whole data and it easily leads to prediction bias. Besides, those approaches still suffer from low-efficiency issue. To this end, we propose an all-weighted matrix factorization and fast optimization strategy for effective and efficient recommendation. We first design a frequency-aware weighting scheme for observed data and a useroriented weighting scheme for unobserved data nonuniformly. Then, the weighting schemes of both observed and unobserved data are combined in a unified way to form an all-weighted matrix factorization model. Afterwards, we present a surrogate objective function and develop a fast optimization strategy to enhance the efficiency. Extensive experimental results on real-world datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms the competitive baselines on several evaluation metrics.

High-frequency vibration error of a moving radar platform easily introduces a non-negligible phase of periodic modulation in radar echoes and greatly degrades terahertz synthetic aperture radar (THz-SAR) image quality. For solving the problem of THz-SAR image-quality degradation, the paper proposes a multi-component high-frequency vibration error estimation and compensation approach based on the short-time Fourier transform (STFT). To improve the robustness of the method against noise effects, STFT is used to extract the instantaneous frequency (IF) of a high-frequency vibration error signal, and the vibration parameters are coarsely obtained by the least square (LS) method. To reduce the influence of the STFT window widths, a method based on the maximum likelihood function (MLF) is developed for determining the optimal window width by a one-dimensional search of the window widths. In the case of high noise, many IF estimation values seriously deviate from the true ones. To avoid the singular values of IF estimation in the LS regression, the random sample consensus (RANSAC) is introduced to improve estimation accuracy. Then, performing the STFT with the optimal window width, the accurate vibration parameters are estimated by LS regression, where the singular values of IF estimation are excluded. Finally, the vibration error is reconstructed to compensate for the non-negligible phase of the platform-induced periodic modulation. The simulation results prove that the error compensation method can meet THz-SAR imaging requirements, even at a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

Compared with microwave synthetic aperture radar (SAR), terahertz SAR (THz-SAR) is easier to achieve ultrahigh-resolution image due to its higher frequency and shorter wavelength. However, higher carrier frequency makes THz-SAR image quality very sensitive to high-frequency vibration error of motion platform. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel high-frequency vibration error estimation and compensation algorithm for THz-SAR imaging based on local fractional Fourier transform (LFrFT). Firstly, the high-frequency vibration error of the motion platform is modeled as a simple harmonic motion and THz-SAR echo signal received in each range pixel can be considered as a sinusoidal frequency modulation (SFM) signal. A novel algorithm for the parameter estimation of the SFM signal based on LFrFT is proposed. The instantaneous chirp rate of the SFM signal is estimated by determining the matched order of LFrFT in a sliding small-time window and the vibration acceleration is obtained. Hence, the vibration frequency can be estimated by the spectrum analysis of estimated vibration acceleration. With the estimated vibration acceleration and vibration frequency, the SFM signal is reconstructed. Then, the corresponding THz-SAR imaging algorithm is proposed to estimate and compensate the phase error caused by the high-frequency vibration error of the motion platform and realize high-frequency vibration error estimation and compensation for THz-SAR imaging. Finally, the effectiveness of the novel algorithm proposed in this paper is demonstrated by simulation results.

Because multiple domain cyberspace joint attacks are becoming more widespread, establishing a multiple domain cyberspace defensive paradigm is becoming more vital. However, although some physical domain and social domain information is incorporated in present approaches, total modeling of cyberspace is absent, therefore thorough modeling of cyberspace is becoming increasingly necessary. This paper proposed a knowledge graph based multiple domain cyberspace modeling approach. A knowledge graph of multiple domain cyberspace is produced by extracting multiple domain entity information and entity relations such as physical domain, social domain, network domain, and information domain, so that semantic information of multiple domain cyberspace may be described consistently. At the same time, this paper proposed a user's permissions reasoning method based on multiple domain cyberspace knowledge graph to address the user's permissions reasoning that relies on artificial reasoning principles. Through the model learning knowledge graph triples characteristics and rules, and implementing automatic reasoning of user's permissions, this proposed method can abandon the artificial model of writing reasoning rules, allowing the machine to learn the reasoning rules using machine learning and other methods. Experimental results showed that the proposed method can learn relevant reasoning rules and accomplish automated reasoning of user's permissions, and that the method's accuracy and recall rates are higher than those of path ranking and translating embeddings. Attacks detection is an important issue in collaborative spectrum sensing (CSS) system of cognitive radio networks. Many approaches are proposed to cope with the malicious behaviour of attackers. In existing works, spectrum sensing data (SSD) received by the fusion centre is generally assumed to be integrated. However, in practical scenarios, the received SSD may be incomplete due to the imperfect reporting channel or specific CSS schemes. The performance of existing attacks detection approaches may degrade especially when the probability of missing data is large. To alleviate this challenge, the authors focus on pre-processing of incomplete SSD and propose a practical imputation algorithm, which is derived from the maximum a posteriori probability criterion, to fill in the missing values. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm restores the characteristics of the SSD, and mitigate the impacts of missing value on existing attacks detection algorithm effectively.
