The home food environment (HFE), the availability and accessibility of foods and food products within the home, has a strong influence on healthy eating behaviors. Studies assessing the HFE commonly utilize a home food inventory (HFI) for data collection. However, this approach tends to be burdensome for participants. This study validated a low-burden digital photo method for assessing the home food environment and confirmed that this method is preferred by participants. Study participants completed an HFI, submitted photos of household foods, then identified preference for the HFI or photo reporting method. Researchers completed an HFI based on each participant’s photo submissions. Researcher-to-participant and researcher-to-researcher comparisons were made through ANOVA and randomized block analyses to determine concurrent validity and inter-rater reliability. Method preference was assessed using the Z-test. The participant group (N = 53) was predominantly female (68%), young adult (90.5%), and Hispanic or Latino (71.7%). Concurrent validity was initially moderate (ĸ = 0.54); adjustments yielded substantial agreement (ĸ = 0.61). The inter-rater reliability (p = 0.98) demonstrated significant consistency among reviewers. The photo-documentation method was found to be valid and preferred (p = 0.01) for reporting on the HFE. The photo method can be used advantageously to collect quality data.

This study explores the meanings currently ascribed to family photographs and albums and aspects of photograph collecting and album making behaviour. Current ways of storing photographs are presented as well as highlighting perceptions of the durability over time of these new forms of storage. The study is exploratory in nature, based on empirical research through the conduct of ten (structured) interviews conducted between August and September 2021. The results of the study show the multitude of meanings attributed to family photo albums, namely: reminiscence of moments in family life, reconstruction of family biography, communication between generations, knowledge of ancestors (great-grandparents, grandparents, parents) in different stages of their lives, establishing a link with the past and building family identity, family history and, last but not least, emotional, nostalgic or joyful meanings, aspects that strengthen the family. At the same time, the study highlights new forms of photo preservation - the shift from print to digital photography, including digital albums. The research also reveals perceptions of the durability of digital albums over time by recognising both positive and negative aspects. The article contributes to the development of research on family photographs and albums in Romanian society, highlighting the importance of the family album and considering it as an object of sociological research.

La fotogrammetria intesa come disciplina scientifica attraverso cui rilevare le proprietà spaziali e formali di un oggetto da una o più immagini fotografiche, ha subìto negli anni molte trasformazioni.L’uso nel titolo della notazione puntata, coniata da Tim O’Reilly nel 2004 riferita all’evoluzione del web, vuole rimarcare la portata di questatrasformazione. Si è sviluppato un nuovo concetto di metricità attraverso cui è possibile ricavare informazioni tridimensionali di un determinatooggetto utilizzando qualsiasi fotocamera. Le immaginifotografiche possono essere inoltre facilmente manipolate così da creare le più disparate condizioni proiettive, inimmaginabili sino a qualchedecennio fa. Il contributo vuole rimarcare le modificazioni indotte nel passaggio dall’analiticoal digitale e il ruolo della fotogrammetria nel rilievo digitale integrato valutando alcuni aspetti diintegrazione e interrelazione con altre tecniche innovative di rilevamento strumentale.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi modelar a área foliar de mucuna cinza determinada por fotos digitais em função das dimensões do limbo do folíolo central da folha. Foi conduzido um experimento de 256m² com a cultura de mucuna cinza em área experimental da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. Em seis períodos de desenvolvimento da cultura (29, 43, 57, 73, 87 e 101 dias após a emergência), foram coletadas, aleatoriamente, o total de 790 folhas. Cada folha é composta pelos folíolos esquerdo, central e direito. Nessas 790 folhas, foi mensurado o comprimento (CFC) e a largura (LFC) e calculado o produto do comprimento vezes a largura (CFC×LFC) do limbo do folíolo central. A seguir, determinou-se a área foliar (soma da área foliar dos folíolos esquerdo, central e direito) por meio do método de fotos digitais (Y). Posteriormente, separou-se, aleatoriamente, 650 folhas para a construção de modelos do tipo quadrático, potência e linear, de Y em função do CFC, da LFC, e/ou do CFC×LFC, e 140 folhas para a validação dos modelos. Em mucuna cinza, o modelo potência (Ŷ=3,6450x1,9479, R²=0,9886) com base na largura do limbo do folíolo central é adequado para estimar a área foliar obtida por fotos digitais.The objective of this research was to model the leaf area of velvet bean determined by digital photos with the dimensions of the central leaflet limb of the leaf. A experiment of 256m² was conducted with the culture of velvet bean in the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. In six periods of culture development (29, 43, 57, 73, 87 and 101 days after emergence) were collected, randomly, 790 leaves. Each leaf is composed of the left, center and right leaflets. In these 790 leaves were measured the length (CFC) and width (LFC) and calculated the product length width (CFC×LFC) of the central leaflet. It was determined the leaf area (the leaf area sum of the left, center and right leaflets) by the method of digital photos (Y). Later, 650 leaves were randomly separated, to build the quadratic model, potency and linear of Y in function of the CFC, LFC and/or CFC×LFC. It was used 140 leaves for validation. The potency model of leaf area obtained by method of digital photos (Ŷ=3.6450 x1.9479, R²=0.9886) based on the width central leaflet, is adequate to estimate leaf area in velvet bean.

The article analyses the determination of accuracy of code levelling staff edges by using their digital photos. The accuracy of the position of graduated lines of levelling staffs is established by comparing reference and test digital photos of levelling staff stored in digital photo camera or in a computer memory. In this case, the position of lines of a calibrated levelling staff is compared to the position of lines of a photogrametric image of a reference levelling staff. Firstly, the digital camera calibration is performed. The aim of the research is to perform the analysis of accuracy of levelling staffs marking's edges by applying lenses of different focal length and to determine which of them provide the most accurate results of calibration. Digital photo camera Canon-EOS-7D, with which digital pictures of levelling staffs scales marking were taken, was chosen for the research and calibrated. The pictures of levelling staffs scales marking were taken with different camera lenses (20, 50 mm) and with different camera modes (auto, macro). Having analysed the obtained results, it was assumed that the focal length of lenses of a photo camera and partially the choice of a camera mode have an influence on final results of calibration. The most accurate results were obtained by taking pictures and calibrating the levelling staffs scales with a 50 mm fixed-focus camera lens. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Study Objectives: This study aimed to examine the craniofacial phenotype of Chinese prepubertal children with and without obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) using a quantitative photographic analysis technique and to develop a prediction model for OSA diagnosis based on the photogrammetric data. Potential ethnic differences in the association between OSA and photogrammetric data between Chinese and Caucasian children were also examined., Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. Chinese children aged 5-12 years old, suspected to have OSA were recruited from our sleep clinic. Frontal and side photos were taken for craniofacial phenotyping by photogrammetry. Polysomnography was performed and participants were divided into three groups: non-OSA (obstructive apnea hypopnea index (OAHI) < 1/h), mild OSA (OAHI between 1/h and 5/h), and moderate-to-severe (MS) OSA (OAHI ≥ 5/h). Prediction models were built from 70% of training data using logistic regression and evaluated on the remaining 30% of test data for receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve construction., Results: This study included 90 participants (mean age: 8.2 ± 1.6 years, 67 males). Non-OSA, mild OSA, and MS OSA groups included 32, 31, and 27 participants, respectively. There were significant trends for an increasing maxillary-mandibular relationship angle (p = .002) and a decreasing anterior mandibular height to whole face length ratio (p < .001) with increasing OSA severity. A prediction model built with clinical measurements and the two photogrammetric features yielded an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.81 (95% C.I.: 0.64-0.96)., Conclusions: Craniofacial features obtained by photogrammetry are significantly different between OSA groups in prepubertal children. Digital cameras have become an essential product when traveling or attending events. Because of its popularity and low cost, it is increasingly likely that more than one camera will be used at an event. The total number of photos captured is also increasing. Although the cost of digital photographs is low, managing numerous digital photos is burdensome to most users. Thus, an intelligent management tool for digital photos is required. In this paper, we propose novel clustering algorithms for concurrent digital photos obtained from multiple cameras. Since previous studies only considered a single user’s photo collection, they are not applicable to concurrent photos obtained from a group of photographers. To handle this situation, we define temporal/spatial combined clustering for the set of group photos taken from different cameras. If photos are submitted from a camera whose user has shown a preference between spatial and temporal clustering, we can obtain customized clustering output from other photo sets according to the reference clustering characteristics. We also propose unsupervised methods for general clustering output. Input concurrent photos are processed without a user’s true clusters, which can be a burden when the number of photos in the true clusters is huge. We tested our methods via more than one thousand photos taken by tourist groups. The final result was satisfactory compared to previous methods based on temporal (spatial) criteria only.
