Regarding productivity as a scientific item, a mathematic or an economic value to be measured and analysed, almost nothing has been done in the field of Building and Construction the last ten years. I might have happened that some scientific method has been used inside a single company, but nothing have been observed published since the University of Luleå Thesis in 1996 (Johsson 1996). - Caused by the concern of seemingly strong growing prices in housing, both governments and industry in each country has during the last few years paid more attention to this matter. As a consequence the word productivity is more and more been take into use by the different parties, and some studies have been carried out.

Publikationen er på engelsk. Den omfatter alle indlæg på det fjerde internationale symposium om byggeøkonomi, der blev arrangeret af SBI for det internationale byggeforskningsråd CIB. De fem bind omhandler: Methods of Economic Evaluation, Design Optimization, Ressource Utilization, The Building Market og Economics and Technological Forecasting in Construction. Et indledende bind bringer statusrapporter for de fem forskningsområder, og det sidste bind sammenfatter debatten på symposiet.

Meddelelsen præsenterer en generel økonomisk model for vurdering af bygningsbestemmelser. Der er lagt vægt på at belyse konsekvenser af samfundsmæssig natur og konsekvenser for private byggeprojekter, og på at modellen skulle åbne mulighed for sammenlignende analyser, der kan forbedre beslutningsgrundlaget når ændringer af bygningsbestemmelser overvejes. Meddelelsen er på engelsk. It is the purpose of this bulletin to present an economic model for estimating the consequence of new or changed building codes. The object is to allow comparative analysis in order to improve the basis for decisions in this field. The model is applied in a case study.
