Epilepsy is a common chronic neurologic disorder, with about 30%‐40% of patients suffering from recurrent seizures despite receiving enough antiseizure medication. Growing evidence of extensive structural and functional research has revealed that epilepsy is a network disorder, and the network investigation is crucial in the presurgical evaluation. This narrative review is aimed at providing an overview of the conceptual development of epileptic surgery, the epileptic network formation, and the network‐oriented strategy in clinical practice. We searched the PubMed database before October 2022 with no language or regional restrictions for studies of network exploration in epilepsy patients. The study eligibility criteria were original connectivity or network research studies using neuroimaging or neurophysiological approaches, focusing on seizure localization, neuropsychological evaluation, neuromodulation, or surgical prognosis. The initial search revealed 2046 studies. The selection process presented 746 papers that meet the inclusion criteria. The results indicated that epilepsy was characterized by the alternation of brain networks, which account for the clinical, electrographic, and neurocognitive phenomena related to human seizures and changes across different disease stages. Hubs have garnered significant attention due to their extensive connections, which make them prone to facilitating the spread of seizures to various brain regions. Unlike the seizure onset zone, the removal of the majority of these ictogenic nodes demonstrated a significant correlation with positive outcomes. Therefore, performing a network analysis during the epilepsy presurgical evaluation seems essential and will influence surgical decisions. It is hoped that studying the network of epilepsy will enhance our ability to determine the most appropriate surgical strategy for patients with epilepsy, thus contributing to success in terms of effective seizure control with maximal sparing or even improvement of brain functioning. Due to the complexity of the underwater environment, existing methods for underwater target detection present low precision on small or dense targets. To address these issues, a novel method is proposed for underwater target detection based on YOLOv5s (You Only Look Once version 5 small), which aims to improve the precision and robustness. In this study, an efficient feature extraction network is introduced to extract significant features, and a novel attention mechanism with deformable convolution is designed to improve the feature representation. Subsequently, an adaptive spatial fusion operation is introduced at the neck of YOLOv5s to facilitate feature fusion from various layers. By integrating low-level features with high-level features, the adaptive fusion feature pyramid network effectively integrates global semantic information and decreases the semantic gap between features from various layers, contributing to the high detection precision. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method achieves an mAP50 of 86.97% on the Underwater Robot Professional Contest of China 2020 dataset, 3.07% higher than YOLOv5s. According to the Magnus principle, a rotating cylinder experiences a lateral force perpendicular to the incoming flow direction. This phenomenon can be harnessed to boost the lift of an airfoil by positioning a rotating cylinder at the leading edge. In this study, we simulate flapping-wing motion using the sliding mesh technique in a heaving coordinate system to investigate the energy harvesting capabilities of Magnus effect flapping wings (MEFWs) featuring a leading-edge rotating cylinder. Through analysis of the flow field vortex structure and pressure distribution, we explore how control parameters such as gap width, rotational speed ratio, and phase difference of the leading-edge rotating cylinder impact the energy harvesting characteristics of the flapping wing. The results demonstrate that MEFWs effectively mitigate the formation of leading-edge vortices during wing motion. Consequently, this enhances both lift generation and energy harvesting capability. MEFWs with smaller gap widths are less prone to induce the detachment of leading-edge vortices during motion, ensuring a higher peak lift force and an increase in the energy harvesting efficiency. Moreover, higher rotational speed ratios and phase differences, synchronized with wing motion, can prevent leading-edge vortex generation during wing motion. All three control parameters contribute to enhancing the energy harvesting capability of MEFWs within a certain range. To better harvest the kinetic energy of the human and broaden the energy harvest frequency band, a nonlinear piezo-electromagnetic composite human energy harvester (NPE-HEH) is proposed. A magnetic repulsion force between the two groups of magnets makes the energy harvester nonlinear. The excitation experiment and the actual experiment of the human are carried out for the harvester. The excitation experiment results show that there is an optimal resistance value of the harvester to maximize the output power value. When the excitation acceleration is 0.4 g and the excitation frequency is 9 Hz, the output voltage value and the output power of the electromagnetic part of the energy harvester are 0.86 V and 2.47 mW respectively, and the output performance is excellent. When the energy harvester is installed in a backpack with a moving speed of 9 km/h, it can generate 0.7 mW of power. When the energy harvester is placed on the leg, the output performance is good and the output power can reach 1.3 mW. The energy harvester can efficiently harvest energy at low frequencies. This harvester is efficient at low frequencies, compact in size, and easy to carry, making it highly suitable for human vibration energy harvesting applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Mastitis is usually caused by a variety of pathogenic bacteria that seriously impact the health and milk-production ability of dairy cows, with consequent, economically detrimental effects on the dairy industry. Forsythoside A (FTA), isolated from the fruit and leaves of Forsythia suspensa (Thunb.) Vahl (Oleaceae), has been reported to have significant antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial effects. However, it is not clear whether FTA exerts a protective effect against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced bovine mastitis and its potential gene signature. In this study, high-throughput sequencing technology was performed to analyze the differences between the mRNA and enrichment pathway of bovine mammary epithelial cells of the control, LPS, and LPS + FTA groups. The results showed that there were 139 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) (p-value < 0.05, |log2FoldChange| > 1, FPKM > 1) in the LPS group compared with the control group, including 121 up-regulated genes and 18 down-regulated genes, which were mainly enriched in the cellular response to lipopolysaccharide, cytokine activity, protein binding, and IL-17 signaling pathway based on Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis, respectively. Compared with the control group and LPS + FTA group, there were 349 DEGs, including 322 up-regulated genes and 27 down-regulated genes. They were mainly enriched in protein localization to organelles, centrosomes, binding, and the IL-17 signaling pathway, based on GO and KEGG analysis. Compared to the LPS group, the LPS + FTA group had 272 DEGs, including 259 up-regulated genes and 13 down-regulated genes, which were mainly enriched in RNA processing, IL-6 receptor binding, and the lysosome pathway, based on GO and KEGG analyses. It can be seen that LPS stimulation induced the expression of inflammation-related genes, IL-17 and IL-6, whereas FTA treatment promoted the expression of the spliceosome-, lysosome-, and oxidative stress-related genes HSP70, HSPA8, and PARP2. The study utilized RNA-sequencing analysis of FTA against LPS-challenged bovine mammary epithelial cells to explore key mRNA findings that may be strongly associated with inflammation and oxidative stress, and provides a theoretical reference for further elucidation of molecular mechanisms of bovine mastitis and therapeutic effects of FTA against bovine mastitis. A transverse flux linear motor is a special type of linear motor with a high thrust force density, and it has broad application prospects in the field of linear direct-drive systems. In the process of oil production, the vibration of the linear motor poses a significant amount of harm to the system due to its special slender structure. This paper focuses on the electromagnetic vibration of a transverse flux permanent magnet linear submersible motor (TFPMLSM). Firstly, the no-load air gap flux density is calculated based on the field modulation principle. Secondly, the radial electromagnetic force (REF) of the TFPMLSM is calculated, and the finite element method (FEM) is used to analyze the time-space and spectral characteristics of the REF. Then, the influence of secondary eccentricity on the frequency spectrum of the REF is further concluded. Finally, the natural frequencies of each vibration mode are calculated using the modal superposition method and the influence of the REF on the motor vibration is obtained through magnetic-structural coupling analysis. The research results found that the motor does not cause resonance at low speeds, and the fundamental frequency of REF has the greatest impact on electromagnetic vibration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A novel linear permanent magnet vernier generator (LPMVG) for small-power off-grid wave power generation systems is proposed in this paper. Firstly, in order to reduce the cogging force and the inherent edge effect of the linear generator, a staggered tooth modular structure is proposed. Secondly, in order to improve the output power and efficiency of the LPMVG and reduce the fluctuation coefficient of electromagnetic force, the relationship between the parameters of the generator is studied, and a method combining multi-objective optimization and single parameter scanning based on the response surface model and particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed to obtain the optimal structural parameters of the generator. Thirdly, the output power and efficiency of the optimized generator are calculated and analyzed based on the two-dimensional finite element method, and the effectiveness of the multi-objective optimization design method based on the response surface model and particle swarm optimization algorithm is verified. Evaluation of the heteroatom tolerance capability of neodymium‐based precatalysts and its accompanied catalytic influences is of great significance for industrial production of polybutadienes because the corresponding active species is highly sensitive to heteroatom‐based impurities that are usually inevitable in the polymerization system. Based this consideration, the present research disclosed a systematical study of the influence of N‐containing donors on a ternary Nd‐based system of Nd(vers)3/DIBAH/TEA/EASC. It was found that the presence of 1% of such donors, regardless of their types that bears different electronic/steric properties, brought little influence on the catalytic activities as well as the cis‐1,4‐stereoselectivities of the catalytic system, giving cis‐1,4‐enriched polybutadienes with comparable yields. Furthermore, the presence of such a concentration of N‐donor also brought little influence on the coordinative chain transfer polymerization behaviors of the system, giving narrowly distributed polybutadiene products in a well‐controlled manner. Nevertheless, further increasing the concentration of N‐donors to >1% eventually led to a gradually decreased polymer yields due to the poison of the corresponding active species, and the obtained catalytic efficiencies were highly dependent on the types of N‐donors. The influence of the N‐donor on other parameters of the products, that is, molecular weights, polydispersities, and so forth, were also investigated, and the specific reasons were proposed. A q-degenerate k-partition of a graph G is a collection (V 1 , V 2 , ... , V k) of k pairwise disjoint subsets of V (G) such that V (G) = ⋃ i = 1 k V i and each V i induces a q -degenerate subgraph. Such a partition is called equitable if | | V i | − | V j | | ≤ 1 for every 1 ≤ i < j ≤ k. Equitable partition of graphs can model the problem of partitioning a large network into smaller sub-modules based on some cardinal principles, and has many other applications in network science and information science. In this work, we establish theoretical and algorithmic results on equitably partitioning degenerate graphs into graphs with lower degeneracy. Specifically, we show that every n -vertex d -degenerate graph with maximum degree at most n / β has a q -degenerate k -partition (V 1 , V 2 , ... , V k) for every k ≥ α d so that each V i has size at most ⌈ n / k ⌉ whenever q , α , and β satisfy a well-defined inequality, and such a partition can be computed in cubic time. The efficiency of warehouses is vital to e-commerce. Fast order processing at the warehouses ensures timely deliveries and improves customer satisfaction. However, monitoring, analyzing, and manipulating order processing in the warehouses in real time are challenging for traditional methods due to the sheer volume of incoming orders, the fuzzy definition of delayed order patterns, and the complex decision-making of order handling priorities. In this paper, we adopt a data-driven approach and propose OrderMonitor, a visual analytics system that assists warehouse managers in analyzing and improving order processing efficiency in real time based on streaming warehouse event data. Specifically, the order processing pipeline is visualized with a novel pipeline design based on the sedimentation metaphor to facilitate real-time order monitoring and suggest potentially abnormal orders. We also design a novel visualization that depicts order timelines based on the Gantt charts and Marey's graphs. Such a visualization helps the managers gain insights into the performance of order processing and find major blockers for delayed orders. Furthermore, an evaluating view is provided to assist users in inspecting order details and assigning priorities to improve the processing performance. The problem of partitioning a large complex network equitably into sparse modules with given rules can be modeled by the equitable list d -degenerate coloring of graphs. This paper establishes theoretical results on such a coloring based on a newly proposed conjecture which states that every graph G is equitably d -degenerate k -colorable and equitably d -degenerate k -choosable for every integer k ≥ (Δ (G) + 1) / (d + 1). This conjecture is strong as it implies the Hajnal-Szemerédi theorem on equitable coloring, the equitable list coloring conjecture (Kostochka, Pelsmajer, and West, 2003), the equitable vertex arboricity conjecture (Wu, Zhang, and Li, 2013), and the equitable list vertex arboricity conjecture (Zhang, 2016). In this paper, we confirm this unified conjecture for globally coupled networks, (d + 1) -degenerate graphs, graphs with bounded maximum average degree, and planar graphs with large maximum degree. A 30-pulse rectifier using passive voltage harmonic injection method at dc link is proposed in this article. The passive voltage harmonic injection circuit has a function to reduce the characteristic harmonics of the input voltage. Through injecting square wave voltage whose frequency is six times of the supply frequency into the dc link of the rectifier, some existing harmonic at the input voltage of the rectifier is reduced, so that the steps number of the rectifier increases from 18 to 30. The equivalent model of the rectifier bridges is established. The switching functions of the harmonic injection circuit and the rectifier bridges are analyzed, the operation modes of the rectifier are obtained, then the formation processes of the input voltage are analyzed, the quantitative relationship between the input voltage of the rectifier and the turn ratio of the injection transformer is obtained. The simulation and experimental results show that the total-harmonic distortion values of the input voltage and input current are reduced after using the harmonic injection circuit. Objective: Little is known about the intrinsic electrophysiological properties of hypothalamic hamartoma (HH) in vivo and seizure network since only few cases using stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) electrodes exploring both cortex and HH have been published. To elucidate these issues, we analyzed simultaneous SEEG recordings in HH and cortex systematically. Methods: We retrospectively investigated data from 15 consecutive patients with SEEG electrodes into the HH for the treatment purpose of radiofrequency thermocoagulation treatment. Additional SEEG electrodes were placed into the cortex in 11 patients to assess extra‐HH involvement. Interictal discharges within the HH and anatomo‐electroclinical correlations during seizures of each patient were qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed. Results: Overall, 77 electrodes with 719 contacts were implanted, and 33 spontaneous seizures were recorded during long‐term SEEG monitoring. Interictally, distinct electrophysiological patterns, including isolated intermittent spikes/sharp waves, burst spike and wave trains, paroxysmal fast discharges, periodic discharges, and high‐frequency oscillations, were identified within the HH. Notably, synchronized or independent interictal discharges in the cortex were observed. Regarding the ictal discharges, the electrical onset pattern within the HH always started with abrupt giant shifts superimposed on low‐voltage fast activity across patients. The gelastic seizure network mainly involved the HH, orbitofrontal areas, and cingulate gyrus. Seizures with automatisms and impaired awareness primarily propagated to mesial temporal lobes. Moreover, independent ictal discharges arising from the mesial temporal lobe were detected in three out of nine patients. Interpretation: This study comprehensively reveals intrinsic electrophysiological patterns and epileptogenic networks in vivo, providing new insights into the mechanisms underlying cortical and subcortical epileptogenesis. Early diagnosis is essential for the control and prevention of tuberculosis (TB). The objective of this study was to investigate the feasibility and performance of loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) in the diagnosis of pulmonary TB in county-level microscopy centers in Qingdao, Eastern China. A total of 523 presumptive TB patients were consecutively recruited between July 2017 and April 2018, and 22 patients were excluded from the analysis. Of 102 culture-positive cases, TB-LAMP identified 91 cases, demonstrating a sensitivity of 89.2%. In comparison, the sensitivity of routine smear microscopy was 69.6% (71/102), which was significantly lower than that of TB-LAMP (P=0.001). In addition, TB-LAMP sensitivities in smear-positive and smear-negative samples were 98.6% and 67.7%, respectively. In conclusion, our data demonstrate that TB-LAMP outperforms conventional smear microscopy in TB diagnosis, which could be used as an alternative method for smear microscopy in resource-limited settings in China. As a small‐scale power system, microgrid (MG) will lose support from the main grid if it switches to islanded mode because of the pre‐planned scheduling or unplanned disturbances. To synchronise the frequency and voltage to their reference values, a secondary frequency and voltage cooperative control is proposed in this study. The proposed secondary control can synchronise the frequency and voltage to their reference values in finite time and achieve the active power sharing simultaneously. Moreover, it is suitable for switching communication architecture. The MG is considered as multi‐agent systems and the system stability is proved by multi‐agent theory and finite‐time stability theory. Objectives: To document if manganese from welding causes health effects including neurological symptoms associated with manganese exposure.Material and Methods: An anonymous questionnaire survey for a total of 505 welders at 3 welding facilities in Qingdao City, China was administered and analyzed.Results: Numerous symptoms were reported by the welders including difficulty with eyes for 43% of them, sore throat for 30% of them, and tremors were reported by over 18% of them. Tremors were associated with longer periods of work as a welder and correlated with the relative cleanliness at the 3 different facilities. Tremors did not correlate with smoking.Conclusions: Manganese-exposed welders reported a variety of symptoms related to work and showed neurological disturbances that correlated with amount of exposure. The presence of tick-borne pathogens and their possible coinfections were evaluated among host-seeking ticks in seven cities from Jiaodong peninsula, Shandong Province, with specific PCR or reverse transcription-PCR tests. Among 2107 ticks collected, four species of three genera were identified with Haemaphysalis longicornis as predominant species, and total of 63 H. longicornis and 10 Rhicephalus microplus were confirmed infected with tick-borne pathogens. These pathogens were consequently identified as severe febrile and thrombocytopenic syndrome virus (SFTSV), Anaplasma capra, Anaplasma phygocytophilum, and Babesia microti, respectively, with high phylogenetic scores on some fragments of species-specific genes. The infection rates of the pathogens in H. longicornis were presented as 1.03%, 0.84%, 0.58%, and 1.66%, respectively, close related to its field density and clump distribution pattern. Furthermore, coinfection of A. capra and SFTSV was also discovered from two female H. longicornis in Pingdu city. These results indicated that the potential human pathogens other than severe febrile and thrombocytopenic syndrome might be transmitted by hard ticks separately or in combination, and more reliable differential diagnosis, proper administrations, rational prevention, and control measures should be developed with the support of precision laboratory tests.
