Objective: The connection between adult separation anxiety disorder (ASAD) and nomophobia has been poorly investigated. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether there is a relationship between ASAD and nomophobia. Method: The sample consisted of 68 university students diagnosed with ASAD and 77 university students without ASAD. All participants were evaluated by a structured clinical interview, Adult Separation Anxiety Questionnaire (ASA), Separation Anxiety Symptom Inventory (SASI), Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q), and Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Version (SAS-SV). Results: Participants with ASAD had longer daily phone usage times and had a higher frequency of checking the phone during the day and the rates of carrying a charger than controls. Compared to the control group, participants with ASAD had significantly higher ASA, SASI, NMP-Q, and SAS-SV scores and more severe nomophobia levels. The ASA scores were significantly positively correlated with SASI, NMP-Q, and SASSV. Regarding predictors of nomophobia, ASA, SASI, and SAS-SV scores had a positive and significant effect on nomophobia, and predicted nomophobia. Conclusion: Our research adds to the body of knowledge on nomophobia by demonstrating that people with ASAD are susceptible to developing nomophobia. Clinicians should be aware of the association between ASAD and nomophobia, and nomophobia may be an important concept that should be considered in the therapy approach to patients with ASAD. Background: Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder, characterized byacute exacerbation and remission phases. Immune system has a role in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. High mobility group box-1 (HMGB-1) is a macrophage secreted protein activating immune cells to produce cytokines. The aim of this study was to evaluate HMGB-1 levels among patients with schizophrenia both in acute exacerbation and remission phases. Methods: Consecutive schizophrenia patients in acute exacerbation and remission phases were enrolled and compared with each other and with age-sex matched healthy subjects. Patients were assessed with the Scale for the Assessment of Positive Symptoms (SAPS), Scale for the Assessment of Negative Symptoms (SANS), Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS), Clinical Global Impression Scale (CGI). Results: Mean HMGB-1 levels were not significantly different in acute exacerbation phase versus remission phase schizophrenia patients (2.139±0.564 g/L vs. 2.326± 0.471 g/L, p=0.335) and both were individually higher than the control group (1.791±0.444 g/L, p=0.05 for acute exacerbation vs control, p=0.002 for remission vs control). In remission phase schizophrenic patients, HMGB-1 levels were positively correlated with Scale For The Assessment of Positive Symptoms (r=0.447, p=0.015) and BPRS (r=0.397, p=0.033) scores and HMGB-1 levels were independently associated with BPRS. Conclusions: Serum HMGB-1 levels were shown to be increased in patients with schizophrenia patients irrespective of phase, there were no differences between patients in acute exacerbation and remission phase in terms of biomarker and HMGB-1 levels were related to symptom severity according to psychiatric scales among patients in remission phase of schizophrenia.

Introduction: Seasonal influenza hadmany epidemics and pandemics throughout history and caused millions of peoplegetting sick with severer progress and even death in the risk group. Having theinfluenza vaccination is essential for healthcare staff to protect their healthas well as other individuals of the society. The present study aimed todetermine the approaches of all healthcare personnel and candidates in RizeTraining and Research Hospital providing tertiary healthcare services and toanalyze their causes for not having the vaccination. Methods: The present cross-sectionalresearch was carried out in Rize (Turkey). A questionnaire applied to 898volunteers among 2200 hospital staff. Results: It was detectedthat the median age of the participants is 25 years; 61.0% of the participantsare female; 59.8% of them are single; 69.8% do not have any children and 38.0%have a graduate degree. The rate of having vaccination once within lifetime wasdetected as 41.6% and the highest rate was observed in the physician groupwhereas the lowest rate was observed in the nursing student group. The causesfor avoiding to have the vaccination included the considerations about theineffectiveness of the vaccination, having influenza and the delay of arrivalof the vaccination to the hospital. However, the rate of having vaccination wasdetermined as 2.6% within all healthcare staff for this year. The majority ofthe participants who had the vaccination consisted of the nurses who considerthemselves within the risk group. Conclusions: A significantdecrease was detected in the vaccination rates of the healthcare staff whencompared with previous years. The awareness should be increased to increase thevaccination rates. For this purpose, training should be organized, and thesustainability of such training should be provided.

EMPATHY , *SELF-expression , *EMOTIONAL intelligence , *ALEXITHYMIA , *STRUCTURAL equation modeling , *STUDENT teachers - Abstract
Although there are studies on the effect of alexithymia on expressed emotion, emotion expression in people with alexithymia was not specifically examined. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between alexithymia and emotional expression styles and whether emotional intelligence and empathy mediate this relationship. A total of 254 teacher candidates were evaluated using the Toronto Alexithymia Scale, Empathy Quotient Scale, Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, and Emotional Expression Styles Inventory. We performed the analyses using structural equation models. Our results revealed that alexithymia indirectly affected the expression style of happiness and sadness emotions negatively and emotional intelligence and empathy played a mediator role in this effect of alexithymia. Also, an indirect positive relationship was identified between alexithymia and anger expression style, and it was found that this relationship was mediated by emotional intelligence. Accordingly, emotional expression styles were also related to other variables. The present study also determined that alexithymia level was significantly and negatively correlated with emotional intelligence and empathy levels. This is the first study to reveal that alexithymia is related to emotional expression styles and that emotional intelligence and empathy also have mediator roles in emotional expression styles. expression styles were also related to other variables. JUVENILE delinquency ,CRIMINAL behavior ,CONTROL groups ,TEMPERAMENT ,CYCLOTHYMIA - Abstract
Criminal behavior in children emerges as a result of a complex process. If the criminal behavior is repetitive and preventive interventions are not applied, it can also lead to the emergence of criminal behavior in adulthood. In our study, we aimed to compare the parental temperament characteristics of juvenile delinquents with those of non-offending children of similar age and gender. The study group included parents of 69 juvenile delinquents aged between 12 and 15, while the control group consisted of parents of 73 non-offending children of the same age range. Data was collected using a demographic information form prepared by researchers and the TEMPS-A (Temperament Evaluation of Memphis, Pisa, Paris, San Diego Autoquestionnaire) Temperament Scale. The study group included 37 fathers and 32 mothers, while the control group included 40 fathers and 33 mothers. Parents in the study group had less education than those in the control group, and psychopathology was more common. The study group's parents experienced more legal issues on average. In comparison to the control group, fathers in the study group scored higher for cyclothymic temperament, hyperthymic temperament, and irritable temperament. Compared to the control group, mothers in the study group scored higher on all temperamental variables. The fathers' assessments of their depressive and anxious temperaments did not differ significantly. Fathers in the study group scored higher on the cyclothymic, hyperthymic, and irritable temperament scales. There was a considerable difference in the prevailing temperament type between the groups. Moms in the research group had significantly higher temperament scores than those in the control group. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The relationship between mean intelligence quotient (IQ), hand preferences and visual memory (VM) were investigated on (N = 612) males and females students trained in different educational programs in viewpoint of laterality. IQ was assessed by cattle's culture Fair intelligence test-A (CCFIT-A). The laterality of the one side of the body was assessed by a questionnaire with 20 items. For VM, word lists with 15 items derived from the root of the Turkish word "to run" were projected on a screen. Subjects were allowed to see the words for 30 sec., and write down the remembered-words in 40 sec. There was any relationship between the hand preferences and IQ levels in right-and left-hander for first ten items (Q1, p>0.05), and also there was no relationship between the hand preferences and remembered words (RW) in left-hander (p>0.05). There was, however, a negative relationship between the hand preferences and RW in right-handers (p<0.05). For second ten items (Q2), there was no relationship between the hand preferences and IQ of left-handed subjects (P<0.05), but there was a positive relationship between the hand preferences and IQ in right hander (p<0.05). However, there was no relationship between hand preferences and non remembered words (NRW) (p>0.05). It was concluded that there was a relationship between the laterality, NRW and IQ in right hander.

Objective: The new type of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease has more serious consequences and risks by gender and plays a role in biological, socio-cultural and behavioral differences. This process is particularly severe in terms of the problems faced by women and some disadvantaged groups. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of changes in the daily lives of female academicians on life satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic process. Methods: The sample of this descriptive study consists of 178 female academicians who have been actively working at a public university in the northeast of Turkey between Oct 1, 2020 and Feb 1, 2021. The data of the research were collected by "Personal Information Form" and "Contentment with Life Scale". Descriptive statistics (percentage, frequency, average), Pearson product-moment correlation analysis, t-test, and ANOVA test were used to evaluate the data. Results: It was found that 83.1% of the female academicians preferred to stay at their own homes and 52.8% of them did not receive support while fulfilling their daily responsibilities during the pandemic process in which female academicians had to work and learn at home. The total score of the Contentment with Life Scale of female academicians was found to be 20.15 ± 6.95. Female academicians who participated in the study had moderate level of contentment with life. It was determined in the study that the increase in the time spent on academic development, academic studies, and themselves increased female academicians’ life contentment and was statistically significant (p˂0.05). It was found that increased time spent for housework decreased life satisfaction. Conclusions: It was determined that professional and individual development is quite significant in increasing life satisfaction in female academicians. That strategies that can increase female academicians life contentment should be developed and women who are sensitive and need to be protected should be supported more in this situation.

Academics are an occupational group that works at an intense pace. The number of studies on chronotype and night eating behavior in academics is limited, and there is insufficient data on whether fear of COVID-19 is also a risk for developing eating disorders. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between chronotype and night eating syndrome (NES) and examine the influence of fear of COVID-19 on night eating behavior in academics. The study data were collected using the personal information form, "Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire, The Night Eating Questionnaire (NEQ), and the Fear of COVID-19 Scale." According to the chronotypes of the academicians, it was determined that the score compatible with NES and the scores of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale differed statistically significantly, and the score compatible with NES and Fear of COVID-19 Scale scores were also higher in the evening type at a rate of 29.2% compared to other chronotypes (p <.05). The Fear of COVID-19 scale and Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire scores were significantly correlated with the Night Eating Questionnaire (R =.391 R2 =.153 p <.05). The variables of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale and the Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire explained 15% of the total variance of the Night Eating Questionnaire scores. Considering that academics are a group that works without the concept of overtime and whose work intensity is high, it is clear that studies should be conducted to raise awareness to protect the physical health of academics and prevent the development of eating disorders. There is a need for studies that question the relationship between chronotype, diet, and health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For this purpose, training should be organized, and thesustainability of such training should be provided., Giriş: Mevsimsel grip tarihboyunca birçok epidemi ve pandemiler yapmış olup milyonlarca insanın hastalanmasına;risk grubu olanlarda ise hastalığın daha ağır geçmesine hatta ölümlere yolaçmıştır. Sağlık çalışanlarının hem kendi sağlıkları hem toplumun diğerbireylerinin sağlığının korunması açısından grip aşısını yaptırmaları sonderece önemlidir. Bu çalışmada üçüncü basamak sağlık bakım hizmeti veren RizeEğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesinde hastanemizde sağlık hizmeti veren tüm personelve adaylarının mevsimsel grip aşısına yönelik yaklaşımlarının belirlenmesi veaşı yaptırmama nedenlerinin irdelenmesi amaçlanmıştır.Yöntem: Kesitsel nitelikteki buaraştırma, Rize ilinde (Türkiye) yürütüldü. Aim: The aim of this study is to compare high sensitive Troponin T (hs-TnT), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), total oxidant capacity (TOC), oxidative stress index (OSI), ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) levels and IMA/albumin ratios (IMAR) with the results of coronary angiography (CAG) in patients diagnosed with ACS at the emergency department. Materials and Methods: Over a period of nine months, patients that were diagnosed with ACS at the emergency department, admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit, subjected to percutaneous CAG and over the age of 18 were included in the study. Results: One hundred twenty five patients with suspected ACS and 52 healthy volunteers were included in the study. When the patients were evaluated with regards to the length of time between symptoms and arrival, TAC levels were found to decrease especially after the 6
th hour. There was no significant difference between TOC, OSI, IMA and IMAR values in this regard. Conclusion: In early-phase ACS, levels of TOC, OSI, IMA and IMAR rise from the 0th hour onwards. TAC levels gradually decrease after the early phase of ischemia. Therefore, oxidants and antioxidants can be used for early diagnosis of ischemia in ACS, as well as for estimating time of ischemia onset. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published

Summary: Question answering is a fundamental problem for artificial intelligence research. State‐of‐the‐art question answering systems, such as search engines, can answer well‐formed factual questions. However, they fail on nonfactual and natural language queries. On the other hand, crowdsourcing leverages human intelligence to present solutions for problems, which are hard for computers. In the process of crowdsourcing, aggregating the responses from the crowd is a big challenge of itself. This work presents a model that integrates artificial intelligence with crowdsourcing to answer difficult natural language multiple choice questions. We build a crowdsourced mobile gaming experience for "Who wants to be a millionaire?" TV quiz show to test our methods. We use lightweight artificial intelligence models in aggregating the crowd responses. Our methods are able to answer even the hardest questions with very high accuracy. The experiment results suggest that building a super player for "Who wants to be a millionaire?" is feasible using our models. This study shows that facilitating crowdsourcing with artificial intelligence is an important tool for answering questions, which trouble state‐of‐the‐art question answering systems. Introduction: Noise exposure, the main cause of hearing loss in countries with lot of industries, may result both in temporary or permanent hearing loss. The goal of this study was to investigate the effects of parenteral papaverine and piracetam administration following an acoustic trauma on hearing function with histopathologic correlation.Materials and Methods: Eighteen Wistar albino rats exposed to noise for 8 h in a free environment were included. We divided the study population into three groups, and performed daily intraperitoneal injections of papaverine, piracetam, and saline, respectively, throughout the study. We investigated the histopathologic effects of cellular apoptosis on inner hair cells (IHCs) and outer hair cells (OHCs) and compared the distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEs) thresholds among the groups. Results and Discussion: On the 3rd and 7th days, DPOAE thresholds at 8 kHz were significantly higher both in papaverine and piracetam groups compared with the control group (P = 0.004 for 3rd day, P = 0.016 and P = 0.028 for 7th day, respectively). On the 14th day, piracetam group had significantly higher mean thresholds at 8 kHz (P = 0.029); however, papaverine group had similar mean thresholds compared to the control group (P = 0.200). On the 3rd and 7th days following acoustic trauma, both IHC and OHC loss were significantly lower in both papaverine and piracetam groups. On the 7th day, the mean amount of apoptotic IHCs and OHCs identified using Caspase-3 method were significantly lower in both groups, but the mean amount identified using terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling method were similar in both groups compared to the control group. Conclusion: We demonstrated the effects of papaverine and piracetam on the recovery of cochlear damage due to acoustic trauma on experimental animals using histopathologic and electrophysiologic examinations. Energy efficient construction and operation of modern energy transmission and distri- bution systems is one of the major challenging problems in engineering area. Prior to every kind of natural gas related study, regardless of their financial or engineer- ing features, demand forecast figures should be seen. Decision making of natural gas investment planning and operation in a city, region or country are highly important engineering problems that have very important economic effects. Determination of the total gas supply import expenditures, the tariffs, additional costs for the extra invest- ments in order to provide safe and continuous gas supply to additional consumers are some of the other confronted problems. Additionally, predicting residential purpose users gas consumption is indispensable for efficient system operation and required for planning decisions at natural gas Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) and Transmis- sion System Operator companies (TSOs). Residential users are major consumers that usually demand significant amount of total gas supplied in distribution systems espe- cially in winter season. Due to the fact that all residential users should be satisfied and the distribution systems have limited capacity for the gas supply, proper planning and forecasting in high seasons and whole year have become critical and essential. This study is conducted for the responsibility area of Bas¸kentgaz which is the local gas company of Ankara. As of gas year of 2014, Bas¸kentgaz owns approximately 90% of overall maximum permissible residential consumption capacity of Ankara with its dis- tricts residential user gas distribution network. Within the scope of this work, MARS (Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines) and CMARS (Conic Multivariate Adap- tive Regression Splines) predictive models for one-day ahead natural gas consumption of residential users are formed. The models not only compare both methods, but they also analyze the effect of actual daily minimum and maximum temperatures versus the Heating Degree Day (HDD) equivalent of their average. Using the obtained one-day ahead models with daily data on 2009-2012, the daily consumption of each day in 2013 has been predicted and the results have been compared with the actual data obtained from Bas¸kentgaz. The outcomes of the study present MARS and CMARS methods to the natural gas industry as two new competitive approaches. The thesis is ended with a conclusion and an outlook to the future studies. 99

Aim: The aim of this study was to compare computed tomography (CT) and radiography (XR) images of patients presented to the emergency department with ankle trauma and undergone CT imaging, and to describe the fractures for which XR is insufficient and the characteristics of these fractures. Material and Methods: This retrospectively designed study included patients presented to the emergency department with ankle trauma between January 2016 and December 2017. Patients who had ankle trauma, who performed XR and CT imaging were included in the study. The XR and CT images were reinterpreted by a radiologist. Results: Three hundred and sixteen patients were enrolled in the study. Of the patients, 137 (43.4%) had fracture on XR and 168 (53.2%) had fracture on CT. The most common bone fractures were detected lateral malleolus and distal tibia fractures. The sensitivity and specificity of XR in detecting fracture compared to CT were 75% and 93%, respectively. Sixty-three (20%) of the patients had two simultaneous fractures. The sensitivity and specificity of XR in detecting two simultaneous fractures were 56% and 94%, respectively. Twelve (3.8%) of the patients had distal tibial, medial malleolus and lateral malleolus fractures (trimalleolar fracture). The sensitivity and specificity of XR in detecting trimalleolar fracture were 17% and 100%, respectively. Conclusion: XR has a low sensitivity in identifying ankle fractures. The sensitivity is much lower in cases of two simultaneous fractures and trimalleolar fractures. Therefore, CT imaging should be preferred in patients with complex ankle injuries. - Abstract
Objective/Hypothesis This study aimed to compare application of the Müller maneuver (MM) and application of drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE) prior to surgery, in addition to MM, to further ascertain the location of an obstruction in the upper airway and whether the location would change the surgical treatment plan in patients with retropalatal obstruction. Study Design Prospective, clinical trial at a tertiary referral hospital. Methods This study included 39 obstructive sleep apnea patients who were recommended for surgical treatment. Patients were randomly divided into two groups: The first group (DISE plus MM) underwent a DISE (19 patients), in addition to the planned procedure according to MM. Meanwhile, the second group (MM only) underwent surgery based only on their MM evaluation (20 patients). Patients with retrolingual-localized obstructions were excluded, whereas patients with ≥ third-degree obstructions at the retropalatal level, according to DISE and/or MM, were included in the study. Results There was a significant improvement between pre- and postoperative polysomnography findings in both groups. However, the postoperative improvements between the groups were not statistically different. Because there was a significant change in the planned surgical procedures in the first group, there were significantly more combined surgeries followed by the DISE procedure. Conclusions Although the DISE resulted in more changes in the surgical treatment plan and higher rate of combined treatment compared to MM, we determined that this difference did not result in a significant difference in treatment success.
