Objective: Pregnancy can be a joyful and enjoyable process as well as a severe fearful experience. It is known that pregnant women experience high rates of fear of delivery, which should be taken into consideration, and there is an increase in the possibility of birth preferences and congenital complications due to this fear. Prenatal pregnancy training can reduce fear and enable a healthier birth process. Methods: The study was carried out in Samsun Training and Research Hospital Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic. The Wijma-A prenatal birth expectancy scale (W-DEQ) was applied to pregnant women in our pregnancy school who accepted to participate in the study using face-to-face interview method. Results: The study was conducted with 124 pregnant women. Average age was 27,13±5,07. The pre-education birth expectancy W-DEQ score was 76,88 and the post-education W-DEQ score was 48,78. The difference was found to be statistically significant (p<0,001). Only the history of previous cesarean delivery showed a significant difference in Wijma score as a result of the educational intervention (p=0,048). Age, first gestational age, abortus history, planned pregnancy, previous education about pregnancy and education level did not cause a significant difference on the change in W-DEQ score. Conclusion: Our results have shown that most of the prenatal pregnant women experienced severe fear of birth. Education intervention reduced perceived fear of childbirth. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The COVID‐19 pandemic has adversely affected the physical and mental health of individuals. The elderly are a special group that is affected by this condition. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of the COVID‐19 pandemic on older adults in terms of disability, state–trait anxiety and life satisfaction. Methods: The population of this cross‐sectional study consisted of individuals aged 65 and over who presented to a family health centre in Samsun a province of Turkey on the Black Sea coast (N = 3950). The study data were collected with the following five forms: Personal Information Form, Quality of Life Questionnaire, State–Trait Anxiety Inventory, Brief Disability Questionnaire and Life Satisfaction Scale. In the analysis of the study data, descriptive statistics, Student's t‐test, paired t‐test, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis were used. Results: The mean age of the participants was 70.88 ± 4.818 years. There was a significant difference between the participants' pre‐ and post‐pandemic health status and quality of life levels. In the study, a significant relationship was determined between the scores obtained from the State–Trait Anxiety Inventory, and the Brief Disability Questionnaire and between the scores obtained from the State–Trait Anxiety Inventory and the variables such as income and marital status (P < 0.05). Conclusion: A significant result of the study is that the older adults' perceptions of health status and quality of life were adversely affected by the pandemic. Another significant result is that disability increased the level of anxiety. The other significant result of the study is that socioeconomic status was an important determinant of anxiety. Purpose: The aim of this study was to assessplatelet count, MPV and PDW as metabolic indicator in obese children with or without insuline resistances. Materials and Methods: Two hundered sixtyseven obese patients (160 female) and 50 (25 female) controls were enrolled. Anthropometric measurements, triglyceride, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), uric acid, hemoglobin, platelet count, MPV, PDW and insulin resistance by using homeostasis model of assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) a nd o ral glucose tolerance test were investigated. Results: Uric acid level were significantly higher in the obese group while there was no statistically significantly differences in platelet indices between in the two groups. Platelet counts, MPV and PDW levels were not significantly different between in three groups. However MPV inversely correlated with HOMA-IR, platelet counts, ALT and LDL levels and positively correlated with PDW. Conclusion: The relationship between platelets, MPV, PDW has previously been demonstrated. However platelet indices may not to be related to degree of obesity as currently thought. Objective: The aim of this research was to determine the effect of music on nonstress testing and pregnant women's satisfaction., Methods: The research, which was designed as a randomized controlled experimental study, was conducted between September 2021 and September 2022 at a training and research university hospital in the north of Turkey. The population of the research consisted of pregnant women who were requested to take a nonstress test, and the sample consisted of 111 pregnant women (music group: 56 and control group: 55). The pregnant women in the music group listened to classical music during the nonstress test, while no intervention was applied to those in the control group. Data were collected with a Descriptive Information Form, a Nonstress Test Form, and the Visual Analog Scale to evaluate satisfaction. Mann-Whitney U and chi-square test statistics were used for the statistical analysis of the data., Results: The mean basal fetal heart rate and count of fetal movements, the presence of acceleration, and the nonstress test results of the pregnant women in the music group were statistically significantly higher than those of the control group (p<0.05). Besides, a statistically significant difference was found between the groups in terms of mean satisfaction scores (p<0.05)., Conclusion: Listening to music during nonstress tests increases pregnant women's reactive nonstress test rates and satisfaction.

Introduction: Health care workers (HCWs) are disproportionately exposed to infectious diseases and play a role in nosocomial transmission, making them a key demographic for vaccination. HCW vaccination rates are not optimal in many countries; hence, compulsory vaccination policies have been implemented in some countries. Although these policies are effective and necessary under certain conditions, resolving HCWs' hesitancies and misconceptions about vaccines is crucial. HCWs have the advantage of direct contact with patients; hence, they can respond to safety concerns, explain the benefits of vaccination, and counter antivaccine campaigns that escalate during pandemics, as has been observed with COVID-19., Method: A short survey was carried out in May-June 2020 on the vaccination status of HCWs working with pediatric patients with COVID-19. The survey inquired about their vaccination status (mumps/measles/rubella [MMR], varicella, influenza, and diphtheria/tetanus [dT]) and willingness to receive hypothetical future COVID-19 vaccines. The respondents were grouped according to gender, age, occupation, and region., Results: In total, 4927 HCWs responded to the survey. Most were young, healthy adults. The overall vaccination rates were 57.8% for dT in the past 10 years, 44.5% for MMR, 33.2% for varicella, and 13.5% for influenza. Vaccination rates were the highest among physicians. The majority of HCWs (81%) stated that they would be willing to receive COVID-19 vaccines., Conclusion: Although vaccination rates for well-established vaccines were low, a majority of HCWs were willing to receive COVID-19 vaccines when available. Education and administrative trust should be enhanced to increase vaccination rates among HCWs.
