Abstract The typical clinical characteristic of patients with anti-IFN-γ autoantibodies (AIGAs) is primarily associated with infection caused by intracellular pathogens. With continued research, additional clinical characteristics have been gradually uncovered. Here, we present a case of multiple pathogen infections accompanied by ocular pathologies in a patient with high titers of AIGAs. The patient, a 53-year-old female patient, was admitted to our hospital after finding a mass in the right supraclavicular fossa. She was successively diagnosed with Talaromyces marneffei, Aspergillus flavus and Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infections. Then, she received a complete course of antifungal agents for nearly 3.5 years and anti-NTM treatment for nearly 3 years, with discontinuation upon symptom improvement. However, there was a rapid recurrence of the infection upon cessation of the drug despite improvement in the patient’s symptoms. Moreover, when the recurrent infection stabilized, the patient exhibited immune conjunctivitis and dry eye, which was successfully treated by tacrolimus eye drops and lubricant. Patients with high-titer AIGAs are more prone to experiencing recurrence and/or persistent infection, as well as immune disorders.

Abstract The preoperative diagnosis and management of Peutz–Jeghers syndrome (PJS) patients with cervical lesions remain problematic. This study analysed the associations between pathological types of cervical lesions in PJS patients and their MRI features. A total of 34 PJS patients were included and two experienced radiologists reviewed the MRIs independently. Based on the pathological diagnosis, the patients were categorized into four groups: normal (n = 4), lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia (LEGH, n = 11), atypical LEGH (aLEGH, n = 8), and gastric-type endocervical adenocarcinoma (G-EAC, n = 11). Background: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), a modifiable cause of infertility with substantial implications for women's well-being, prompts the exploration of efficacious adjunctive treatments. Acupuncture emerges as a promising therapeutic avenue; however, the nuanced effects of acupuncture in POI warrant more comprehensive investigation. The intricate mechanisms dictating individualized responses remain elusive. This trial seeks to assess the effectiveness of acupuncture as an adjunctive treatment for POI, concurrently delving into the impact of transcriptome analysis on peripheral blood to unravel the underpinnings of these individual variations. The overarching objective is to enrich our comprehension of acupuncture's therapeutic potential in the context of POI, with a view to advancing holistic patient care. Methods/design: Constituting an open-label, nested case-control study, this research endeavors to enroll 108 women diagnosed with POI. Participants will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to either the study group or the control group, each comprising 54 subjects. Ten patients from each group meeting specific criteria will partake in transcriptome analysis. An additional 10 subjects meeting the study criteria will form a healthy control group. The study group will exclusively undergo acupuncture treatment, while the control group will solely receive Fenmutong. Acupuncture sessions, administered thrice weekly across three menstrual cycles from the fifth day of menstruation, constitute the intervention. Primary outcome measurement rests on Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) levels, supplemented by secondary assessments encompassing biometric features, hormone biomarkers, anxiety and depression scores, and transcriptome analysis. Baseline measurements precede intervention, with post-intervention evaluations following. The study endeavors to discern specific genes linked to individualized responses to acupuncture. Data analysis, employing SPSS 25.0 software, incorporates a meticulous examination of peripheral blood samples for transcriptome analysis. The investigation aspires to shed light on genetic determinants influencing the effects of acupuncture on women with POI, thereby fostering elevated standards in patient care and management. Discussion: This study pivots on the principal objective of scrutinizing the efficacy of acupuncture as an adjunctive treatment for POI. Beyond effectiveness, it undertakes an exploration of the intricate mechanisms underlying the diverse responses exhibited by individuals in the context of acupuncture, augmenting the depth of understanding in this therapeutic domain.

Abstract Background Single umbilical artery (SUA) is strongly associated with foetal structural abnormalities; however, the exact pattern of this association has not been described. We aimed to investigate the occurrence of malformations in singleton pregnancies with SUA in China and to study the association between the absent side of the umbilical artery and foetal malformations. Methods This was a retrospective study of singleton pregnancies for which routine first-trimester anatomical screening was performed at 11+ 0-13+ 6 gestational weeks and, if the pregnancy continued, a second-trimester scan was performed at 20+ 0-24+ 0 weeks. Data were extracted from records at the referral centre, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University, between January 2011 and April 2019 (n = 47,894). Using logistic regression, the odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated for malformations associated with SUA. Results The incidence of SUA in our study was 2.0% (970/47,894). Of all foetuses with SUA, 387 (39.9%) had structural malformations. The malformation type varied, with cardiovascular complications being the most common. A robust association was observed between SUA and oesophageal stenosis or atresia (OR: 25.33), followed by cardiovascular (OR: 9.98–24.02), scoliosis (OR: 18.62), genitourinary (OR: 2.45–15.66), and brain malformations (OR: 4.73–9.12). Background: To make a group consensus about non-pharmacological interventions of traditional Chinese medicine in treating polycystic ovary syndrome based on the previous guidelines, literature, and expert viewpoints. Methods: Organized by Chinese Integrative Medicine & Traditional Chinese Medicine Academy, Chinese Maternal and Child Health Association, China, 29 experts from 18 Chinese provinces and 2 international experts, who specialize in gynecology, obstetrics, pediatrics, endocrinology, cardiovascular, psychology, reproductive genetics, nursing, acupuncture and tuina, traditional Chinese medicine, integrative medicine, and other disciplines, discussed and revised the recommendations one by one through in-person or online communication. Each recommendation was approved by ≥90% of the experts before it could be established. The main outcome measure is an optimal clinical regimen for addressing the requirements of women with PCOS and improving their quality of life. Result(s): The writing panel drafted the initial report, following a consensus process via adequate communication, which was then reviewed and revised by the consensus panel. This consensus provides 12 non-pharmacological interventions (including acupuncture, thumbtack needle, thread-embedding therapy, TEAS, AA, acupoint hot compress, cupping, acupressure, moxibustion, five elements music, aromatherapy, traditional Chinese exercises) for 8 phenotypes of PCOS, resulting in 34 items of clinical practice recommendations. Conclusion(s): The consensus provides 12 non-pharmacological interventions of traditional Chinese medicine for 8 phenotypes of PCOS, resulting in 34 items of clinical practice recommendations, which may be improved by more high-quality multicenter clinical trials.

Anti-interferon-γ autoantibodies (AIGAs) syndrome is susceptible to disseminated opportunistic infections due to increased AIGAs, but its clinical immunological characteristics remain unrecognized. We conducted a prospective cohort study between January 2021 and December 2023, recruiting patients with opportunistic infections who were categorized into AIGAs-positive and AIGAs-negative groups. Clinical immunological data and outcomes were documented. A subset of AIGAs-positive patients received glucocorticoid treatment, and its effectiveness was evaluated. A total of 238 patients were enrolled, with 135 AIGAs-positive and 103 AIGAs-negative patients. AIGAs-positive patients showed higher rates of multiple pathogen dissemination, shorter progression-free survival (PFS), and increased exacerbation frequency. They also showed elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), globulin (GLB), immunoglobulin (Ig)G, IgE, and IgG4 levels. Among the 70 AIGAs-positive patients monitored for at least six months, three subtypes were identified: high AIGAs titer with immune damage, high AIGAs titer without immune damage, and low AIGAs titer without immune damage. Of the 55 patients followed for 1 year, decreasing AIGAs titer and immune indices (GLB, IgG, IgE, IgG4) were observed. Among the 31 patients with high AIGAs titer and immune damage treated with low-dose glucocorticoids at the stable phase, reductions were observed in immune indices and AIGAs titer in 67.74% of cases. In summary, AIGAs-positive patients exhibit infectious and immunological characteristics. Elevated AIGAs, IgG, IgG4, and IgE indicate abnormal immune damages. AIGAs titer generally decrease over time. Stable-phase AIGAs-positive patients can be categorized into three subtypes, with those having high AIGAs titer and increased immune indices potentially benefitting from glucocorticoid treatment.

Background and objectiveAllergic rhinitis (AR) is a common chronic inflammatory disease that significantly impacts the quality of life of patients. However, there is limited research on the relationship between the Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII) and the risk of AR. Our study aimed to assess the association between DII and AR in a sample of adults from North China.MethodsIn a case–control study, we selected 166 cases of AR and 166 age- and gender-matched controls. Dietary intake was assessed using a validated food frequency questionnaire. The energy-adjusted DII (E-DII) scores were calculated based on the quantity of diet components with inflammatory or anti-inflammatory potential. We used conditional logistic regression models to examine the association between E-DII and AR.ResultsOur findings indicate a positive correlation between E-DII and AR risk. After controlling for confounders, individuals in the highest E-DII tertile exhibited a 4.41-fold increased risk of AR compared to those in the lowest tertile (OR 4.41, 95% CI 2.31–8.41). Additionally, stratified analysis showed that E-DII was positively associated with AR subtype (seasonal vs. perennial), duration (≤6 years vs. >6 years), severity (mild vs. moderate–severe), and onset time (intermittent vs. persistent). Furthermore, individuals in the highest E-DII tertile had higher intake of total fat, SFA, PUFAs, and n-6 PUFAs.ConclusionIn conclusion, we realized that there is a positive association between the E-DII score and AR. The consumption of diets abundant in anti-inflammatory nutrients and low in pro-inflammatory nutrient contents is recommended as a preventative strategy against AR.

Abstract Background Autoantibodies against interferon-γ (IFN-γ) can inhibit IFN-γ-dependent signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 phosphorylation and thus increase the risk of infection with intracellular pathogens, such as Talaromyces marneffei (TM), nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTMs), and Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB). Here, we report a rare case of triple infection caused by TM, NTM, and TB in a human immunodeficiency virus–negative patient. Case presentation A middle-aged female was admitted to our hospital after experiencing recurrent rash, cough, and expectoration for 4 months. She was successively diagnosed with NTM, TM, and TB infections without conventional immunosuppression-associated factors. However, after effective anti-infective treatment, the patient was confirmed to have allergic conjunctivitis and was successfully treated with corticosteroids and immunosuppressants. The most conspicuous characteristics were recurrent infection and immune disorders. Conclusions High-titer anti-IFN-γ autoantibodies are strongly associated with severe and disseminated infections, such as NTM, TM, and TB. It is characterized by persistently high degree of inflammation and high immunoglobin levels.

Abstract There is growing demand for emergency-based eyecare services where the majority of those attending do not require urgent ophthalmic management. The Royal College of Ophthalmologists have recommended upskilling and supporting of allied health professionals to support eyecare delivery, where machine learning algorithms could help. A mixed methods study was conducted to evaluate the usability of an artificial intelligence (AI) powered online triage platform for ophthalmology. The interface, usability, safety and acceptability were investigated using a Think Aloud interview and usability questionnaires. Twenty participants who actively examine patients in ophthalmic triage within a tertiary eye centre or primary care setting completed the interview and questionnaires. 90% or more of participants found the platform easy to use, reflected their triage process and were able to interpret the triage outcome, 85% found it safe to use and 95% felt the processing time was fast. A quarter of clinicians reported that they have experienced some uncertainty when triaging in their career and were unsure of using AI, after this study 95% of clinicians were willing to use the platform in their clinical workflow. This study showed the platform interface was acceptable and usable for clinicians actively working in ophthalmic emergency triage.

Cornus officinalis, a medicinal and edible plant known for its liver-nourishing properties, has shown promise in inhibiting the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), crucial indicators of hepatic fibrosis, especially when processed by high pressure wine steaming (HPWS). Herein, this study aims to investigate the regulatory effects of cornus officinalis, both in its raw and HPWS forms, on inflammation and apoptosis in liver fibrosis and their underlying mechanisms. In vivo liver fibrosis models were established by subcutaneous injection of CCl4, while in vitro HSCs were exposed to transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β). These findings demonstrated that cornus officinalis with HPWS conspicuously ameliorated histopathological injury, reduced the release of proinflammatory factors, and decreased collagen deposition in CCl4-induced rats compared to its raw form. Utilizing ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer (UHPLC-QTOF-MS) combined with network analysis, we identified that the pharmacological effects of the changed components of cornus officinalis before and after HPWS, primarily centered on the adenosine phosphate (AMP)-activated protein kinase (AMPK) pathway. Of note, cornus officinalis activated AMPK and sirtuin 3 (SIRT3), promoting the apoptosis of activated HSCs through the caspase cascade by regulating caspase3, caspase6 and caspase9. small interfering RNA (siRNA) experiments showed that cornus officinalis could regulate AMPK activity and its mediated-apoptosis through SIRT3. In conclusion, cornus officinalis exhibited the ability to reduce inflammation and apoptosis, with the SIRT3-AMPK signaling pathway identified as a potential mechanism underlying the synergistic effect of cornus officinalis with HPWS on anti-liver fibrosis.

IntroductionThis study aimed to explore the transcriptomic profile of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) by investigating alterations in gene expression.MethodsA total of sixty-one women, comprising 31 individuals with POI in the POI group and 30 healthy women in the control group (HC group), aged between 24 and 40 years, were recruited for this study. The transcriptomic profiles of peripheral blood samples from all study subjects were analyzed using RNA-sequencing.ResultsThe results revealed 39 differentially expressed genes in individuals with POI compared to healthy controls, with 10 upregulated and 29 downregulated genes. Correlation analysis highlighted the relationship between the expression of SLC25A39, CNIH3, and PDZK1IP1 and hormone levels. Additionally, an effective classification model was developed using SLC25A39, CNIH3, PDZK1IP1, SHISA4, and LOC389834. Functional enrichment analysis demonstrated the involvement of these differentially expressed genes in the “haptoglobin-hemoglobin complex,” while KEGG pathway analysis indicated their participation in the “Proteoglycans in cancer” pathway.ConclusionThe identified genes could play a crucial role in characterizing the genetic foundation of POI, potentially serving as valuable biomarkers for enhancing disease classification accuracy.

Osteoporosis characterized by decreased bone density and mass, is a systemic bone disease with the destruction of microstructure and increase in fragility. Osteoporosis is attributed to multiple causes, including aging, inflammation, diabetes mellitus, and other factors induced by the adverse effects of medications. Without treatment, osteoporosis will further progress and bring great trouble to human life. Due to the various causes, the treatment of osteoporosis is mainly aimed at improving bone metabolism, inhibiting bone resorption, and promoting bone formation. Although the currently approved drugs can reduce the risk of fragility fractures in individuals, a single drug has limitations in terms of safety and effectiveness. By contrast, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), a characteristic discipline in China, including syndrome differentiation, Chinese medicine prescription, and active ingredients, shows unique advantages in the treatment of osteoporosis and has received attention all over the world. Therefore, this review summarized the pathogenic factors, pathogenesis, therapy limitations, and advantages of TCM, aiming at providing new ideas for the prevention and treatment of OP.

While the project planning-performance relationship received much attention, the effects of project planning on megaproject performance have not been investigated empirically and little is known about the conditional mediating process between them. This study builds a moderated mediation model to examine the indirect effects of project planning on megaproject performance via process integration and information integration under the contingency of project complexity. 214-megaproject data through a questionnaire survey in China was used to test hypotheses with hierarchical multiple regression and moderated mediation model. Results show that process integration and information integration mediate the positive relationship between project planning and megaproject performance and the mediating effect of process integration is weaker under a higher level of project complexity. This study advances the understanding of project planning-performance relationships considering integration and project complexity. It also offers practical guidance for managers on improving megaproject integration and performance through appropriate planning skills.

Abstract An accurate short-term load forecasting plays an important role in modern power system’s operation and economic development. However, short-term load forecasting is affected by multiple factors, and due to the complexity of the relationships between factors, the graph structure in this task is unknown. On the other hand, existing methods do not fully aggregating data information through the inherent relationships between various factors. In this paper, we propose a short-term load forecasting framework based on graph neural networks and dilated 1D-CNN, called GLFN-TC. GLFN-TC uses the graph learning module to automatically learn the relationships between variables to solve problem with unknown graph structure. GLFN-TC effectively handles temporal and spatial dependencies through two modules. In temporal convolution module, GLFN-TC uses dilated 1D-CNN to extract temporal dependencies from historical data of each node. In densely connected residual convolution module, in order to ensure that data information is not lost, GLFN-TC uses the graph convolution of densely connected residual to make full use of the data information of each graph convolution layer. Finally, the predicted values are obtained through the load forecasting module. We conducted five studies to verify the outperformance of GLFN-TC. In short-term load forecasting, using MSE as an example, the experimental results of GLFN-TC decreased by 0.0396, 0.0137, 0.0358, 0.0213 and 0.0337 compared to the optimal baseline method on ISO-NE, AT, AP, SH and NCENT datasets, respectively. Results show that GLFN-TC can achieve higher prediction accuracy than the existing common methods.

Abstract Purpose To establish an early clinical diagnosis model based on the retinal vascular features associated with POI, supplying a non-invasive way for accurately and early predicted the risk of POI. Methods A total of 78 women with spontaneous POI and 48 healthy women were recruited from the Affiliated Shenzhen Maternity & Child Healthcare Hospital in the study. Retinal characteristics were analyzed using an automated retinal image analysis system. Binary logistic regression was used to identify POI cases and develop predictive models. Results Compared to the normal group, the POI group had larger central retinal artery equivalent (CRAE) (P = 0.006), central retinal vein equivalent (CRVE) (P = 0.001), index of venules asymmetry (Vasym) (P = 0.000); larger bifurcation angles of arterioles (Aangle) (P = 0.001), bifurcation coefficient of venule (BCV) (P = 0.001) and more obvious arteriovenous nipping (Nipping) (P = 0.005), but lower arteriole-to-venule ratio (AVR) (P = 0.012). In the POI group, the odds ratio (OR) of Vasym was 6.72e-32 (95% C.I. 4.62e-49–9.79e-15, P = 0.000), the OR of BCV was 5.66e-20 (95% C.I. 1.93e-34–.0000, P = 5.66e-20) and the OR of Nipping was 6.65e-06 (95% C.I. 6.33e-10–.0698, P = 0.012). Moreover, the area under the ROC curve for the binary logistic regression with retinal characteristics was 0.8582, and the fitting degree of regression models was 60.48% (Prob > chi-square = 0.6048). Conclusion This study demonstrated that retinal image analysis can provide useful information for POI identification and certain characteristics may help with early clinical diagnosis of POI.

Objective: This study aimed to confirm the efficacy of an intervention based on the information-motivation-behavior skills (IMB) model in improving the sublingual immunotherapy adherence score, medication beliefs score, self-efficacy score, and medication knowledge score of patients with allergic rhinitis. Methods: A total of 120 patients with allergic rhinitis from an otorhinolaryngology clinic were divided into the control group (n = 60) and experimental group (n = 60); the study was conducted from August 2021 to March 2022. The control group received routine intervention, whereas the experimental group received intervention based on the IMB model. The medication adherence, medication beliefs, self-efficacy, and medication knowledge levels of the two groups were evaluated at baseline, post-intervention, at 1-month follow-up, and at 3-month follow-up. Results: After intervention, a total of 116 patients completed the trial in the experimental and control groups (58 cases each). Abstract Introduction Talaromyces marneffei (T. marneffei), a dimorphic fungus, causes local or disseminated infection in humans. We aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics, prognostic factors, and survival outcomes of patients with T. marneffei infection and compare the differences between human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive and HIV-negative subgroups. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 241 patients with T. marneffei infection at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University between January 2012 and January 2022. The overall population was stratified into HIV-positive (n = 98) and HIV-negative (n = 143) groups according to HIV status. Kaplan–Meier analysis and multivariate Cox regression models were used to determine the prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). Results With a median follow-up time of 58.9 months, 120 patients (49.8%) experienced disease progression and 85 patients (70.8%) died. The 5-year rates of OS and PFS were 61.4% (95% CI 55.0–68.6%) and 47.8% (95% CI 41.5–55.1%), respectively. BackgroundDespite the well-grounded benefits of physical activity (PA), poor compliance with the PA guidelines has been reported among head and neck cancer (HNC) patients. Mobile health (mHealth)-based interventions can help cancer survivors increase their PA levels and increase the reach or efficiency of rehabilitation services. However, there is limited knowledge about the needs and perceptions of HNC patients regarding these interventions. This study explored the perceptions and needs of HNC patients regarding mHealth-based PA programs before developing such interventions to ensure their improved effectiveness.Study designA constructivist qualitative study.MethodsWe purposively selected 17 adult HNC patients aged 40–80 years to determine their needs and perceptions of future mHealth-based PA programs. Semi-structured face-to-face interviews were conducted, and the data were analyzed via thematic analysis. The report followed the Consolidated Criteria for Qualitative Research Reports guidelines.ResultsFour themes were analyzed from the interview transcripts regarding the needs and perceptions of mHealth-based PA programs: (1) functionality needs; (2) system usage requirements; (3) social support; and (4) perceived barriers and facilitators. HNC patients expect highly customized and specialized mHealth interventions that consider individual factors, address their concerns about security, network, and cost, and prefer improved comfort. Moreover, they expect to receive support from their healthcare providers, families, and peers.ConclusionThe study provides pragmatic ready-to-use recommendations to design interventions for inactive HNC patients to achieve the recommended PA levels. Future mHealth interventions should be tailored according to the needs of the HNC patients by utilizing perceived facilitators and removing perceived barriers to help them engage in PA actively.

Abstract Background This study used the revised nursing outcomes classification (NOC) outlined in our previous study, “Core nursing outcomes for otorhinolaryngology head-neck,” for telephone follow-up of patients who had laryngeal carcinoma surgery in China. This randomized controlled trial aimed to compare nurse-led telephone follow-up according to the revised NOC with traditional telephone follow-up. Methods A total of 100 postoperative patients were recruited from March 2018‒March 2020. Patients were randomly assigned to nurse-led telephone follow-up groups as either revised NOC follow-up (n = 51) or traditional follow-up (n = 49). The investigated outcomes included nursing outcomes, quality of life, and self-care abilities. Results The baseline characteristics of patients were well balanced. Small cell carcinoma of the ovary (SCCO) is a rare type of ovarian cancer with high aggressiveness. The optimal treatment modality remains elusive. This study aims to comprehensively investigate the survival impact of clinical characteristics and treatments including lymphadenectomy in SCCO. A retrospective cohort study was performed and included patients from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Data collected included demographics, therapeutic details, and pathologic characteristics. Propensity-score matching analysis (PSM) was carried out to balance baseline variables between SCCO and non-SCCO. Cox regression, Kaplan–Meier, and stratified analyses were conducted before and after PSM. After filtering, 80 records on SCCO and 39,662 records on non-SSCO were obtained. Patients with SCCO were more prone to present unilateral tumor (57.6% and 85.0%, p < 0.001), larger tumor size (>15 cm: 9.5% and 32.5%; 10–15 cm: 13.2% vs. 22.5%, p < 0.001), younger age (59.1 ± 14.91 vs. 37.2 ± 19.05; p < 0.001), single status (17.0% vs. 45.0%; p < 0.001), single malignant tumor in a lifetime (76.1% vs. 87.5%; p = 0.0244), and pathologic grade IV diseases (14.5% vs. 40.0%; p < 0.001) compared with non-SCCO. After balancing the baseline clinical characteristics with a 1:4 ratio PSM, a total of matched 72 patients with SCCO and 254 patients with non-SCCO were identified. The survival rate of SCCO was distinctly inferior to non-SCCO, particularly in FIGO I, II, and III stages. Lymphadenectomy was performed in 37 (51.39%) SCCO patients, of whom 12 (32.43%) were found to have pathologically positive lymph nodes. Lymphadenectomy was linked to favorable overall survival in SCCO, particularly in the advanced stage, and was also an independent prognostic factor, whereas lymphadenectomy did not reveal an edge in matched non-SCCO. There was a pronounced survival benefit for SCCO when at least 10 or more nodes were resected. Lymphadenectomy in a non-stage-dependent way should be considered and deserves further clinical validation to promote the overall survival in SCCO.

BackgroundHealth science popularization short video disseminates health information to the public in an understandable way about health information.ObjectiveTo investigate the preferences of Chinese residents for health science popularization short videos and provide suggestions for optimizing the production of short videos.MethodsAn online survey of Chinese people was conducted using a self-administered questionnaire, and a discrete choice experiment (DCE) was used to explore the public’s preferences for health science popularization short videos.ResultsA total of 618 respondents were included, of which 306 (45.51%) were male and 312 (50.49%) were female, 271 (43.85%) were aged 18–25, 239 (38.67%) were aged 26–60, and 108 (17.48%) were aged 60 and above. Whether the video is charged or not (46.891%) and the account subject (28.806%) were both considered important. The results of the DCE revealed that the participants considered video free of charge as the most significant attribute of health science popularization short videos (OR 3.433, 95% CI 3.243–3.633). Overall, participants preferred and were more willing to pay for health science popularization short videos with a hospital account subject (OR 1.192, 95% CI 1.116–1.274), with the form of graphic narration (OR 1.062, 95% CI 1.003–1.126), free of charge (OR 3.433, 95% CI 3.243–3.633), with the content that satisfies their needs (very much needed: OR 1.253, 95% CI 95% CI 1.197–1.311; generally needed: OR 1.078, 95% CI 1.029–1.129), with platform certification (OR 1.041, 95% CI 1.011–1.073), without commercial advertisements (OR 1.048, 95% CI 1.018–1.080), with simple-to-understand content (OR 1.071, 95% CI 1.040–1.104), and with video content that evokes fear or dread of illness in the viewer (OR 1.046, 95% CI 1.015–1.078).ConclusionParticipants favor free health popularization short videos, which are hospital accounts, with content that is illustrated, understandable, meets their needs, and can serve as a warning. In the future, the production of health popularization short videos should focus on improving the diversity and relevance of video content, making it as easy to understand to achieve good science popularization effects.

Abstract Background N-acetyltransferase 10 (NAT10), an abundant nucleolar protein with both lysine and RNA cytidine acetyltransferase activities, has been implicated in Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome and human cancer. We and others recently demonstrated that NAT10 is translocated from the nucleolus to the nucleoplasm after DNA damage, but the underlying mechanism remains unexplored. Methods The NAT10 and PARP1 knockout (KO) cell lines were generated using CRISPR-Cas9 technology. Knockdown of PARP1 was performed using specific small interfering RNAs targeting PARP1. Cells were irradiated with γ-rays using a 137Cs Gammacell-40 irradiator and subjected to clonogenic survival assays. Co-localization and interaction between NAT10 and MORC2 were examined by immunofluorescent staining and immunoprecipitation assays, respectively. PARylation of NAT10 and translocation of NAT10 were determined by in vitro PARylation assays and immunofluorescent staining, respectively. Results Here, we provide the first evidence that NAT10 underwent covalent PARylation modification following DNA damage, and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP1) catalyzed PARylation of NAT10 on three conserved lysine (K) residues (K1016, K1017, and K1020) within its C-terminal nucleolar localization signal motif (residues 983–1025). Notably, mutation of those three PARylation residues on NAT10, pharmacological inhibition of PARP1 activity, or depletion of PARP1 impaired NAT10 nucleoplasmic translocation after DNA damage. Knockdown or inhibition of PARP1 or expression of a PARylation-deficient mutant NAT10 (K3A) attenuated the co-localization and interaction of NAT10 with MORC family CW-type zinc finger 2 (MORC2), a newly identified chromatin-remodeling enzyme involved in DNA damage response, resulting in a decrease in DNA damage-induced MORC2 acetylation at lysine 767. Consequently, expression of a PARylation-defective mutant NAT10 resulted in enhanced cellular sensitivity to DNA damage agents. Conclusion Collectively, these findings indicate that PARP1-mediated PARylation of NAT10 is key for controlling its nucleoplasmic translocation and function in response to DNA damage. Moreover, our findings provide novel mechanistic insights into the sophisticated paradigm of the posttranslational modification-driven cellular response to DNA damage. Video Abstract

Objective: This study explored the correlation between a Th1/Th2 cytokines imbalance and 25-hydroxy-vitamin D (vit D) level in early chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), provided experimental rationales for the role of vit D in the prevention and control of COPD, and elucidated the potential anti-inflammatory mechanism involved.Methods: This study was based on the results of the “Screening and Early Diagnosis of COPD” public health project conducted through Shenzhen Municipal Qianhai Shekou Free Trade Zone Hospital. Patients with early COPD were selected as study participants. A prospective, randomized, and controlled method was employed for assigning eligible participants into three groups, i.e., a COPD lung function (LF) I, COPD LF II, and a healthy group, respectively (n = 40 each). The serum content of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin 4 (IL-4), and IL-6 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and the ratio of IFN-γ/IL-4 treated as a marker for Th1/Th2. The serum concentration of 25-hydroxyl-vit D (25 [OH]D) was quantified by a chemiluminescence assay. Statistical processing was performed, and the correlations between changes in the above parameters with vit D level and LF parameters were examined.Results: There were differences in FEV1pred%, FEV1/FVC, IFN-γ, IL-4, IL-6 and IFN-γ/IL-4 between the healthy group, the COPD LF I group and the COPD LF II group (p < 0.05). In early COPD, Th1/Th2 cytokines was positively correlated with forced expiratory volume/expected value (FEV1pred%) (r = 0.485, p < 0.001) and forced expiratory volume/forced vital capacity (FEV1/FVC) (r = 0.273, p = 0.018); Th1/Th2 cytokines levels positively correlated with vit D level (r = 0.27, p = 0.02), and 25(OH)D level positively correlated with FEV1pred% (r = 0.695, p < 0.001).Conclusion: Vitamin D deficiency was ubiquitous in patients with early COPD. It was positively correlated with the FEV1pred% and FEV1/FVC LF parameters. Accordingly, this study provides experimental rationales for the role of vit D in the prevention and control of COPD and the potential anti-inflammatory mechanisms involved.

COL1A1–PDGFB gene fusion uterine sarcoma is an especially rare malignant mesenchymal tumor that was previously classified as an undifferentiated uterine sarcoma due to the lack of specific features of differentiation. Till now, only five cases have been reported, and here we presented another case recently diagnosed in a Chinese woman who had vaginal bleeding. She presented with a cervical mass at the anterior lip of the cervix invading the vagina and was treated with laparoscopic total hysterectomy plus bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (TH+BSO) and partial vaginal wall resection with the final pathology of COL1A1–PDGFB fusion uterine sarcoma. Our aim is to emphasize the importance of differential diagnosis of this rare tumor, as early precise diagnosis may allow patients to benefit from the targeted therapy imatinib. This article also serves as further clinical evidence of this disease, serving to increase clinical awareness of this rare sarcoma to avoid misdiagnosis.

Abstract Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a highly lethal disease due to aggressive clinical phenotype and the lack of validated therapeutic targets. Our recent quantitative proteomic analysis of 90 cases of TNBC tissues and 72 cases of matched adjacent normal tissues revealed that the expression levels of BPTF-associated protein of 18 KDa (BAP18), a component of the MLL1 and NURF chromatin complexes, were upregulated in TNBC tissues relative to normal tissues. However, the biological function and the underlying mechanism of BAP18 in TNBC progression remain unexplored. Here, we report that BAP18 promoted TNBC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro and xenograft tumor growth and lung colonization in vivo. Mechanistic investigations revealed that S100 calcium-binding protein A9 (S100A9), a member of the S100 protein family that is frequently upregulated in breast tumors and acts as an oncogenic driver in breast cancer progression, was a downstream target gene of BAP18. BAP18 was recruited to histone H3 trimethylation at lysine 4 (H3K4me3)-marked promoter of S100A9 and enhanced its promoter activities. Notably, knockdown of BAP18 by short hairpin RNA in TNBC cells suppressed xenograft tumor growth in mice, the noted effect was partially reverted by re-expression of S100A9 in BAP18-depleted cells. Taken together, these results suggest that BAP18 promotes TNBC progression through, at least in part, transcriptional activation of oncogene S100A9, and represents a potential therapeutic target for TNBC.

Benefits realization at the operation stage is a widely neglected aspect of sustainable development of construction projects. While it is one of the ultimate purposes of initiating projects, public projects often perform poorly in realizing benefits after being delivered. The purpose of this study is to investigate why public institutional building projects could not realize benefits as expected. Four barriers to benefits realization are identified, which mainly stem from the formalization of public institutional building project management. These are rigid administrative systems, non-autonomous decision-making, strong accountability, and lack of benefits evaluation scheme. This study presents a paradoxical understanding of the role of formalization in ensuring project production and benefits realization of public institutional building projects. While formalization ensures accountability and transparency in the project delivery and production, it undermines the long-run benefits realization after being delivered.

Atomic dispersion of Rh on phosphotungstic acid (PTA) salts was achieved by a self-assembled precipitation method using alkali metal ions as coprecipitation reagents. During styrene hydroformylation, the supported Rh single-atom catalyst (Rh1/M-PTA, M refers to an alkali metal ion) demonstrated an optimum turnover frequency (TOF) of 1076 h−1. With increasing ionic radius, the pore size of the catalysts increased in the following order: Rh1/K-PTA1/Rb-PTA1/Cs-PTA. The catalytic activity showed the same trend, suggesting a positive correlation between pore size and hydroformylation performance. Further experimental data suggested that temperature is an important factor affecting not only the activity but also the selectivity. This study enriches the understanding of the structure and catalytic properties of PTA-supported single-atom materials. The cation-controlled synthesis of catalysts may also be applied to prepare other single-atom catalysts with tunable pore size distributions.

Abstract Purpose To investigate the relationship between vaginal microbial community structure and premature ovarian insufficiency (POI). Methods Twenty-eight women with POI and 12 healthy women were recruited at Shenzhen Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital between August and September 2020. Blood samples were collected for glucose tests and detection of sex hormone levels and vaginal secretions were collected for microbial group determination. Vaginal microbial community profiles were analysed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing using the Illumina MiSeq system (Illumina Inc., San Diego, CA, USA). Results Compared to the controls, the serum levels of follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, testosterone, and the follicle-stimulating hormone/luteinizing hormone ratio, significantly increased, and oestradiol and anti-Müllerian hormone levels significantly decreased in women with POI. Higher weighted UniFrac values were observed in women with POI than in healthy women. Bacteria in the genera Lactobacillus, Brevundimonas, and Odoribacter were more abundant in the microbiomes of healthy women, while the quantity of bacteria in the genus Streptococcus was significantly increased in the microbiomes of women with POI. Moreover, these differences in microbes in women with POI were closely related to follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, oestradiol, and anti-Müllerian hormone levels and to the follicle-stimulating hormone/luteinizing hormone ratio. Conclusions Women with POI had altered vaginal microbial profiles compared to healthy controls. The alterations in their microbiomes were associated with serum hormone levels. These results will improve our understanding of the vaginal microbial community structure in women with POI. Trial registration CHICTR, ChiCTR2000029576 . Abstract Background Pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction (PPID) is a common endocrinopathy of horses diagnosed with a thyrotropin‐releasing hormone (TRH) stimulation test. Hypothesis/Objectives Describe the repeatability of TRH stimulation in horses with and without PPID in winter and autumn. Animals Twenty adult horses; 6 controls and 6 with PPID tested in autumn, 8 controls and 6 with PPID tested in winter with 3 controls and 3 with PPID tested in both seasons. Methods Thyrotropin‐releasing hormone stimulation was performed on 2 consecutive occasions, 1 week before and 1 week after the winter solstice and the autumn equinox. Blood was collected before and 30 minutes after IV injection of 1 mg of TRH. ACTH concentration was determined by a chemiluminescent assay. Repeatability and test‐retest reliability were assessed by repeated measures analysis of variance, intraclass correlation coefficient and within‐horse coefficients of variation (CV). Bland‐Altman plots were generated to visualize agreement between repetitions. Results In winter, no week effect was detected on the results of the TRH simulation and the test had an excellent test‐retest reliability. In autumn, after‐TRH ACTH concentrations were significantly lower on week 2 (P = .02) and the test only had a good test‐retest reliability. There were significantly larger within‐horse CV during autumn (P = .04) and after TRH stimulation (P = .04). There were 2 misclassifications in winter and 4 in autumn. Conclusions and Clinical Importance The TRH stimulation test was repeatable when performed 2 weeks apart in winter; however, in autumn, more variability in after‐TRH ACTH concentrations resulted in decreased repeatability.

Abstract Protein phosphatase 6 (PP6) is a member of the PP2A-like subfamily, which plays significant roles in numerous fundamental biological activities. We found that PPP6C plays important roles in male germ cells recently. Spermatogenesis is supported by the Sertoli cells in the seminiferous epithelium. In this study, we crossed Ppp6c F/F mice with AMH-Cre mice to gain mutant mice with specific depletion of the Ppp6c gene in the Sertoli cells. We discovered that the PPP6C cKO male mice were absolutely infertile and germ cells were largely lost during spermatogenesis. By combing phosphoproteome with bioinformatics analysis, we showed that the phosphorylation status of β-catenin at S552 (a marker of adherens junctions) was significantly upregulated in mutant mice. Abnormal β-catenin accumulation resulted in impaired testicular junction integrity, thus led to abnormal structure and functions of BTB. Taken together, our study reveals a novel function for PPP6C in male germ cell survival and differentiation by regulating the cell-cell communication through dephosphorylating β-catenin at S552.

In this paper we study nonlinear periodic systems driven by the vectorial p-Laplacian with a nonsmooth locally Lipschitz potential function. Using variational methods based on nonsmooth critical point theory, some existence of periodic and subharmonic results are obtained, which improve and extend related works.

Eosinophil (Eo) degranulation plays a central role in the initiations of allergic attacks. Flagellin (FGN), the major component of bacterial flagella, has immune regulatory functions. This study aims to investigate the role of FGN in alleviating the allergic reaction by stabilizing Eos. A toll-like receptor 5-knockout mouse strain was employed to test the role of FGN in stabilizing Eos. An airway allergy mouse model was developed to test the administration of FGN in alleviating the airway allergy by stabilizing Eos. The results showed that FGN was required in stabilizing Eos in the airway tissues. FGN prevented specific antigen-induced Eo activation. Oxidative stress was associated with the antigen-induced Eo activation that could be counteracted by the presence of FGN. The FGN levels were lower and chymase levels were higher in the airway tissues of mice with allergic inflammation. Negative correlation was detected between the data of FGN and chymase in the lung tissues. Chymase physically contacted FGN to speed up its degradation. The administration of FGN alleviated experimental allergic inflammation in the mouse airways by stabilized Eos in the lung tissues. In conclusion, FGN contributes to Eo stabilization. The administration of FGN alleviates the experimental airway allergy. The data suggest that FGN can be a candidate to be employed in the treatment of allergic disorders.

Abstract Background Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is characterized by impairment of ovarian function on a continuum before the age of 40 years. POI is affected by multiple factors. Considering new insights from recent gut microbiome studies, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between gut microbial community structure and POI. Methods Subjects were recruited at the Shenzhen Maternity & Child Healthcare Hospital. Fecal microbial community profiles of healthy women (n = 18), women with POI (n = 35) were analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing based on Illumina NovaSeq platform. Results Compared to the controls, the serum levels of FSH, LH, T and FSH/LH ratio significantly increased in women with POI, whereas E2 and AMH decreased significantly. Higher weighted UniFrac value was observed in POI women compared with healthy women. Phylum Firmicutes, genera Bulleidia and Faecalibacterium were more abundant in healthy women, while phylum Bacteroidetes, genera Butyricimonas, Dorea, Lachnobacterium and Sutterella enriched significantly in women with POI. Moreover, these alterations of the gut microbiome in women with POI were closely related to FSH, LH, E2, AMH level and FSH/LH ratio. Conclusions Women with POI had altered microbial profiles in their gut microbiome, which were associated with serum hormones levels. These results will shed a new light on the pathogenesis and treatment for POI.

BackgroundPD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors have significantly improved the outcomes of those patients with various malignancies. However, the incidence of adverse events also increased. This meta-analysis aims to systematically evaluate the risk of cardiovascular toxicity in patients treated with PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors.Materials and methodsWe searched PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library databases for all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing all-grade and grade 3-5 cardiovascular toxicity of single-agent PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors to placebo/chemotherapy, PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors combined with chemotherapy to chemotherapy, or PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors combined with CTLA-4 inhibitors to single-agent immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and pooled our data in a meta-analysis stratified by tumor types and PD-1 or PD-L1 inhibitors. The Mantel-Haenszel method calculated the odds ratio (OR) and its corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs).ResultsA total of 50 trials were included in the analysis. Single-agent PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors increased the risk of all-grade cardiotoxicity compared with placebo (OR=2.11, 95%CI 1.02-4.36, P=0.04). Compared with chemotherapy, patients receiving PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors combined with chemotherapy had a significant higher risk of all-grade (OR=1.53, 95%CI 1.18-1.99, P=0.001) and grade 3-5 cardiotoxicity (OR=1.63, 95%CI 1.11-2.39, P=0.01) cardiotoxicity, especially patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) [all-grade cardiotoxicity (OR=1.97, 95%CI 1.14-3.41, P=0.02) and grade 3-5 cardiotoxicity (OR=2.15, 95%CI 1.08-4.27, P=0.03)]. Subgroup analysis showed that PD-1 inhibitors combined with chemotherapy were associated with a higher risk of grade 3-5 cardiotoxicity (OR=2.08, 95%CI 1.18-3.66, P=0.01). Compared with placebo or chemotherapy, single-agent PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors did not increase the risk of all-grade of myocarditis, arrhythmia and hypertension. However, PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors combined with chemotherapy increased the risk of all-grade arrhythmia (OR=1.63, 95%CI 1.07-2.46, P=0.02) [PD-L1 inhibitor-containing treatment (OR=1.75, 95%CI 1.09-2.80, P=0.02)], and the risk of all-grade hypertension (OR=1.34, 95%CI 1.02-1.77, P=0.04) and grade 3-5 hypertension (OR=1.54, 95%CI 1.10-2.15, P=0.01).ConclusionsOur results suggest that single-agent PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors increase the risk of all-grade cardiotoxicity, PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors combined with chemotherapy increase the risk of all-grade and grade 3-5 cardiotoxicity, especially in those patients treated with PD-1 inhibitor-containing treatment and those with NSCLC. In addition, PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors combined with chemotherapy increase the risk of arrhythmia and hypertension. Abstract Background The core nursing outcomes for laryngeal carcinoma in China needed further screening and revision. This study aimed to evaluate and revise a questionnaire according to the “Core Nursing Outcomes for Otorhinolaryngology Head-Neck” of the Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC, 5th Edition), and determine suitable postoperative nursing outcomes for patients with laryngeal carcinoma in China. Methods The commonly used postoperative nursing outcomes for laryngeal carcinoma were screened using a questionnaire given to 93 nurses. An initial expert consultation questionnaire was constructed to discuss the indicators for each nursing outcome. A total of 20 experts were identified using the Delphi method, and their recommendations and revisions on the selected nursing outcomes were collected. Results A total of 14 postoperative core nursing outcomes and 69 indicators were identified for postoperative patients with laryngeal carcinoma, which are subordinate to 4 domains of the NOC: “Physiologic Health”, “Psychosocial Health”, “Health Knowledge & Behavior”, and “Perceived Health”. Conclusions The screening and revision of the NOC outcomes and indicators of the Delphi method could be applied to assess the effect of nursing intervention and the quality of the nursing service in China.

Cornus officinalis, a kind of edible herbal medicine, has been widely used in the protection of liver and kidney due to its medicinal and nutritional effect. Its anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and anti-oxidant activities can be enhanced by wine-steamed (WS) processing. Based on the activations of hepatic stellate cells-T6 (HSC-T6) and HK-2, our study used single-factor plus orthogonal design to investigate the anti-fibrosis of C. officinalis processed with steamed (S), high-pressure steamed (HPS), WS, high-pressure wine-steamed (HPWS), wine-dipped (WD), and wine-fried (WF). The chemical constituents in processed C. officinalis with higher anti-fibrotic activities were detected by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with hybrid triple quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS). Results showed that C. officinalis with HPWS significantly inhibited the activations of HSC-T6 and HK-2. Moreover, compounds in C. officinalis with HPWS were obtained via UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS, indicating that 27 components were changed compared with raw C. officinalis. These results demonstrated that HPWS is the optimal processing technology for anti-fibrosis of C. officinalis.

Abstract The outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is of global health concern. It is a serious public health emergency for the entire world, threatening human life and public health security. To address the epidemic, it is necessary not only to take good prevention and treatment measures, but also to have effective and targeted public health emergency governance. That said, reports focusing on governance are scant. In this commentary, we summarize China’s model to combat the COVID-19 epidemic from a public health emergency governance approach. Stemmed from goals and values, a number of mechanisms are put forward, which include: a whole-of-government response and accountability, setting up a multi-sectoral cooperation platform, swiftly scaling up epidemic emergency capacity, whole-of-society actions with engagement of social organizations, and engaging citizens in the epidemic prevention and control. As the epidemic continues to evolve, other countries might learn from China to build their own, context-specific models for better outcomes.

This paper presents a multiplicity theorem for a kind of non-smooth functionals. The proof of this theorem relies on a suitable deformation lemma and the perturbation methods. We also apply this result to prove a multiplicity theorem for elliptic variational-hemivariational inequality problems.

Integrated zoom and image stabilization system based on deformable mirrors (DMs) has advantages of miniaturization, rapid response and low energy consumption. Integrating the two capabilities on one DM-based imaging system poses considerable challenges. First, limited DM stroke will result in limited changeable aberration correction value for zoom and image stabilization. Second, the DM-based off-axis imaging system suffers a simple relative movement between optical axis and objects caused by carrier vibration may result in complicated optical system aberrations. To address these challenges, a reasonable assignment of the changeable aberration correction value for zoom and image stabilization is needed. Image stabilization and aberration correction in DM-based off-axis imaging system, should be considered when translation or rotation occurs. To troubleshoot the assignment issues of the correcting aberrations, we propose a graded optimization method which comprises two steps. To troubleshoot the image stabilization and aberration correction issues, we introduce vectorial ray tracing method and image point freezing principle to transform the aberration correction problem into an optimization problem of image coordinates. With the proposed method, we construct practical integrated freeform surfaces of DMs for a space camera with three mirrors. The sagittal heights of designed DM surface profiles are limited within their available stroke.

BackgroundExclusive breastfeeding rate in Malaysia is low despite its known health benefits. This study aims to determine the prevalence of intention to breastfeed among pregnant mothers, the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding practice after delivery, and factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding practice.MethodsThis was a prospective cohort study. All pregnant women at 36 weeks gestation or above from 17 antenatal health clinics in an urban district were invited to participate in the study. A self-administered questionnaire was used, encompassing sociodemographic, breastfeeding knowledge, attitude, and intention towards the practice of breastfeeding. The participants were followed up one month post-natal for their practice of breastfeeding via telephone or during their post-natal follow-up appointment.Results483 pregnant mothers participated in the study initially. 462 (95.7%) were contactable after one month. 99.4% (459/462) of participants intended to breastfeed. 65.4% (302/462) of participants practiced exclusive breastfeeding. There was no significant association between intention and practice of exclusive breastfeeding. Multiple logistic regression analysis shows, pregnant mothers with high breastfeeding knowledge (AOR = 1.138; 95% CI 1.008-1.284) and Malay ethnicity (AOR = 2.031; 95% CI 1.066-3.868) were more likely to breastfeed their infant exclusively.ConclusionsPrevalence of exclusive breastfeeding practice at one month in the studied district was 65.4%. Malay mothers and mothers with high breastfeeding knowledge were more likely to breastfeed exclusively. Thus, we recommend targeted intervention towards non-Malay mothers and increasing breastfeeding knowledge to all pregnant mothers.

According to the ancient documents and Chinese herbal medicine processing experience, Chuanxiong Rhizoma was usually processed with yellow rice wine to improve efficacy. However, the relevant mechanisms are still unclear so far. In this study, a validated ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method was used to compare the pharmacokinetics of four representative components in middle cerebral artery occlusion rats after oral administration of raw and wine-processed Chuanxiong Rhizoma. The neurobehavioral scores and 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining were employed to evaluate the model. Biological samples were prepared by protein precipitation with methanol. All analytes were separated on an ACQUITY BEH C18 column through gradient elution using acetonitrile and 0.01% of formic acid as mobile phase, and the flow rate was 0.3 mL/min. The results showed that the maximum plasma concentrations, the area values under the concentration-time curves of senkyunolide A, and ferulic acid in wine-processed Chuanxiong Rhizoma were all higher than in raw Chuanxiong Rhizoma, which were completely opposite to our previous studies in normal rats. Compared with normal rats, the theory that wine processing could enhance the efficacy of Chuanxiong Rhizoma may be better reflected in model rats.

Hopf algebras, as a crucial generalization of groups, have a very symmetric structure and have been playing a prominent role in mathematical physics. In this paper, let H be a dual quasi-Hopf algebra which is a more general Hopf algebra structure. A. Balan firstly introduced the notion of right-right Yetter-Drinfeld modules over H and studied its Galois extension. As a continuation, the aim of this paper is to introduce more properties of Yetter-Drinfeld modules. First, we will describe all the other three kinds of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over H, and the monoidal and braided structure of the categories of Yetter-Drinfeld modules explicitly. Furthermore, we will prove that the category HHYDfd of finite dimensional left-left Yetter-Drinfeld modules is rigid. Then we will compute explicitly the canonical isomorphisms in HHYDfd. Finally, as an application, we will rewrite the isomorphisms in the case of coquasitriangular dual quasi-Hopf algebra.

The objective of this work was to explore the ability of lactic acid bacteria strains to bind benzo(a)pyrene (B(a)P) existing in PM2.5. In this study, we examined the ability of Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM to bind B(a)P in the simulated PM2.5 environment. Among the tested 5 strains, Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM exhibited the best capacity to bind B(a)P, and its B(a)P binding percentage was 60.00%. Simulations of organic and inorganic systems which represent PM2.5 indicated that B(a)P could be absorbed by strain L. acidophilus NCFM. For the inorganic system of pH 5, L. acidophilus NCFM bound 92.74% B(a)P with a cell concentration of 1 × 1010 cfu/mL at 37°C for 8 hr. Regarding the organic system with pH 6, 73.00% B(a)P was bound by strain L. acidophilus NCFM after this bacterium was incubated at 37°C for 10 min. A quick B(a)P binding by this probiotic bacterium took place in the organic system. The removal of B(a)P from PM2.5 was significantly related to incubation time, cultivation temperature, pH, and cell concentration. Thus, our finding shows that long-term consumption of L. acidophilus NCFM is beneficial for the reduction of B(a)P towards the population who are exposed to PM2.5, although the ability of this bacterium to adsorb B(a)P is partly affected by the differences in the origin of PM2.5.

A value-added-oriented (VAO) BIM climate is the organizational climate of BIM value-added. However, a lack of research on VAO BIM climate has thwarted progress on BIM knowledge systems. By using the socio-technical systems approach and the competing value approach, 12 dimensions and 39 indicators of a VAO BIM climate are proposed and tested using 306 questionnaires collected from workers engaged in BIM construction projects across China. Data was analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis. The results show that the proposed dimensions and indicators are highly reliable and valid. The VAO BIM climate is heavily influenced by autonomy, career development, and task orientation. The top 10 indicators were mainly related to participation, task orientation, and goal effectiveness. And the MWD-BIM, RCS-BIM, CDMT-BIM, and SMD-BIM were mistaken as key indicators of participation, autonomy, peer relations, and organizational adaptability, respectively. The proposed dimensions and indicators can be used to advance scholarly understanding and theory on BIM climate in construction projects through directing resource allocation, enhancing the understanding of human–BIM interactions, improving the BIM knowledge system and facilitating decision framework of BIM adoption. Practical implications for managers in construction projects are provided in the end.

Activin/myostatin signaling has a critical role not only in cachexia but also in tumor angiogenesis. Cachexia is a frequent complication among patients with advanced cancer and heavily pretreated patients. We aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of cachexia-associated genetic variants in refractory metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients treated with regorafenib. Associations between twelve single nucleotide polymorphisms in 8 genes (INHBA, MSTN, ALK4, TGFBR1, ALK7, ACVR2B, SMAD2, FOXO3) and clinical outcome were evaluated in mCRC patients of three cohorts: a discovery cohort of 150 patients receiving regorafenib, a validation cohort of 80 patients receiving regorafenib and a control cohort of 128 receiving TAS-102. In the discovery cohort, patients with any G variant in FOXO3 rs12212067 had a significantly lower response rate (P = 0.031) and overall survival (OS) than those with a T/T in univariate analysis (4.5 vs. 7.6 months, hazard ratio [HR] = 1.63, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.09-2.46, P = 0.012). Among female patients, those with any G variant in INHBA rs2237432 had a significantly longer OS than those with an A/A in both univariate (7.6 vs. 4.3 months, HR = 0.57, 95%CI = 0.34-0.95, P = 0.021) and multivariable (HR = 0.53, 95%CI = 0.29-0.94, adjusted P = 0.031) analysis. This association was confirmed in female patients of the validation cohort, though without statistical significance (P = 0.059). Conversely, female patients with any G allele in the control group receiving TAS-102 did not show a longer OS. This was the first study evaluating the associations between polymorphisms in cachexia-associated genes and outcomes in refractory mCRC patients treated with regorafenib. Further studies should be conducted to confirm these associations.

Contractors’ consummate performance behavior (CPB) refers to that contractors perform within the spirit of the contract. This is important to improve project performance. However, few studies have investigated why contractors would undertake CPB. Drawing on the theory of planned behavior (TPB), this study aims to examine which factors influence the intention of CPB. To achieve this, a questionnaire survey was undertaken in China, with 195 valid questionnaires from project managers and contract managers being received. Data were analyzed through structural equation modeling and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis. The results show that the intention of CPB is mainly influenced by attitude toward benefit/cooperation/social value, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control. Attitude toward social value has the greatest impact on the intention of CPB, whereas the subjective norm is least effective on the intention of CPB. In addition, three equifinal combinations result in the intention of CPB. Attitude toward cooperation and subjective norm are the core of the contractors’ intention of CPB. These two factors cannot be replaced by other factors.
