Prediction of fine particulate matter with particle size less than 2.5 µm (PM2.5) is an important component of atmospheric pollution warning and control management. In this study, we propose a deep learning model, namely, a spatiotemporal weighted neural network (STWNN), to address the challenge of poor long-term PM2.5 prediction in areas with sparse and uneven stations. The model, which is based on convolutional neural network–bidirectional long short-term memory (CNN–Bi-LSTM) and attention mechanisms and uses a geospatial data-driven approach, considers the spatiotemporal heterogeneity effec It is correct.ts of PM2.5. This approach effectively overcomes instability caused by sparse station data in forecasting daily average PM2.5 concentrations over the next week. The effectiveness of the STWNN model was evaluated using the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region as the study area. Experimental results demonstrate that the STWNN exhibits higher performance (RMSE = 10.29, MAE = 6.4, R2 = 0.96, and IA = 0.81) than other models in overall prediction and seasonal clustering. Furthermore, the SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) method was introduced to calculate the contribution and spatiotemporal variation of feature variables after the STWNN prediction model. The SHAP results indicate that the STWNN has significant potential in improving the performance of long-term PM2.5 prediction at the regional station level. Analyzing spatiotemporal differences in key feature variables that influence PM2.5 provides a scientific foundation for long-term pollution control and supports emergency response planning for heavy pollution events. A comprehensive, accurate, and timely expression of earth observation (EO) tasks is the primary prerequisite for the response to and the emergency monitoring of disasters, especially floods. However, the existing information model does not fully satisfy the demand for a fine-grain observation expression of EO task, which results in the absence of task process management. The current study proposed an EO task representation model based on meta-object facility to address this problem. The model not only describes the static information of a task, but it also defines the dynamics of an observation task by introducing a functional metamodel. This metamodel describes the full life cycle of a task; it comprises five process methods: birth, separation, combination, updating, and extinction. An earth observation task modeling and management prototype system (EO-TMMS) for conducting a remote sensing satellite sensor observation task representation experiment on flooding was developed. In accordance with the results, the proposed model can describe various EO tasks demands and the full life cycle process of an EO task. Compared with other typical observation task information models, the proposed model satisfies the dynamic and fine-grain process representation of EO tasks, which can improve the efficiency of EO sensor utilization. Interleukin-enhancer binding factor 3 (ILF3) is a double-stranded RNA-binding protein that has been reported to contribute to the occurrence and progression of various malignant tumors. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the prognostic value of ILF3 and to apply this knowledge to avoid excessive medical treatment in patients with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). ILF3 expression in a discovery set consisting of tumor and peri-tumor tissue microarrays was analyzed using immunohistochemical methods. The mRNA level of ILF3 was subsequently analyzed in a validation set downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas. The Kaplan-Meier method, univariate and multivariate Cox analyses, decision curve analysis and nomogram models were used to evaluate the prognostic value of ILF3. ILF3 expression was upregulated in tumor tissues compared with peri-tumor tissues and was negatively associated with the overall survival time of patients with LUAD in the discovery and validation sets. Moreover, ILF3 expression was used for risk stratification in patients with tumor-node-metastasis stages II–IV and poor-to-moderate tumor differentiation. ILF3 expression was identified as an independent predictor of adverse prognosis for patients with LUAD in the discovery and validation sets. Finally, nomogram models for the 3- and 5 year survival time of patients with LUAD revealed that ILF3 expression may be used to improve the predictive accuracy of the prognosis and to avoid excessive medical treatment for certain patients with the disease. Overall, the data obtained in the current study revealed that high ILF3 expression was associated with poor prognosis, and demonstrated that ILF3, as a potential independent risk factor, may improve the hierarchical postoperative management of patients with LUAD. The sheer size of all frequent itemsets is one challenging problem in data mining research. Based on both closed itemset and maximal itemset, meta itemset which is a new concise representation of frequent itemset is proposed. It is proved that both closed itemset and maximal itemset are special cases of meta itemset. The set of all closed itemsets and the set of all maximal itemsets form the upper bound and the lower bound of the set of all meta itemsets. Then, property and pruning strategies of meta itemset are discussed. Finally, an efficient algorithm for mining meta itemset is proposed. Because of the inherent computational complexity, mining the complete frequent item-set in dense datasets remains to be a challenging task. Mining Maximal Frequent Item-set (MFI) is an alternative to address the problem. Set-Enumeration Tree (SET) is a common data structure used in several MFI mining algorithms. For this kind of algorithm, the process of mining MFI's can also be viewed as the process of searching in set-enumeration tree. To reduce the search space, in this paper, a new algorithm, Index-MaxMiner, for mining MFI is proposed by employing a hybrid search strategy blending breadth-first and depth-first. Firstly, the index array is proposed, and based on bitmap, an algorithm for computing index array is presented. By adding subsume index to frequent items, Index-MaxMiner discovers the candidate MFI's using breadth-first search at one time, which avoids first-level nodes that would not participate in the answer set and reduces drastically the number of candidate itemsets. Then, for candidate MFI's, depth-first search strategy is used to generate all MFI's. Thus, the jumping search in SET is implemented, and the search space is reduced greatly. Plants have evolved immune systems to fight against pathogens. However, it is still largely unknown how the plant immunity is finely regulated. Here we identified a BTB/POZ domain-containing protein, namely NbBTB, which is predicted to be a member of the ubiquitin E3 ligase complex. The NbBTB expression is downregulated upon the oomycete pathogen Phytophthora parasitica infection. Overexpression of NbBTB in Nicotiana benthamiana promoted plant susceptibility to P. parasitica infection, and silencing NbBTB increased plant resistance to P. parasitica , indicating that NbBTB negatively modulates plant basal defense. Interestingly, overexpressing or silencing NbBTB did not affect plant resistance to two bacterial pathogens Ralstonia solanacearum and Pseudomonas syringae , suggesting that NbBTB is specifically involved in basal defense against oomycete pathogen. Expression of NbBTB suppressed hypersensitive response (HR) triggered by avirulence proteins from both R. sonanacearum and P. infestans , and silencing NbBTB showed the opposite effect, indicating that NbBTB negatively regulates effector-triggered immunity (ETI). Protein accumulation of avirulence effectors in NbBTB -silenced plants was significantly enhanced, suggesting that NbBTB is likely to negatively modulate ETI by affecting effector protein accumulation. SPOCK1 encodes a Ca 2+ -binding matricellular glycoprotein which plays an oncogenic role in cancer cells. However, the role of SPOCK1 in the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer (CRC) has not been determined. Here, SPOCK1 was found higher expressed in CRC tissues than that of adjacent normal tissues. Furthermore, up-regulated expression of SPOCK1 in CRC patients was associated with tumor size and TNM stage. In addition, we observed that the depletion of SPOCK1 inhibited proliferation in vitro and tumorigenicity in vivo and promoted apoptosis in cell culture. Our data suggest that inactivation of PI3K/Akt signaling pathway was involved in down-regulation of SPOCK1-mediated suppression of tumor cell proliferation. These results suggest that SPOCK1 expression is correlated with malignant features of CRC and may serve as potential therapeutic and preventive strategies for CRC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Lumbosacral transitional vertebra (LSTV) is a common spinal variant, with the reported prevalence varying from 8.1% to 36%. LSTV has been shown to alter the lumbo-pelvic parameters and reduce the benefits of total hip arthroplasty, but the specific effects of LSTV on hip development remain unclear. The aim of this study was thus to investigate the impact of LSTV on developmental alterations of the hip., Methods: A total of 310 individuals were categorized into three groups according to whole-body computed tomography (CT) imaging: a group with sacralization of 23 presacral vertebrae (PSV) (n=102), a group with lumbarization of 25 PSV (n=108), and a normal control group with 24 PSV (n=100). Quantitative parameters of the lumbo-pelvic-hip complex (LPHC) including lumbar lordosis (LL), pelvic incidence (PI), pelvic tilt (PT), sacral slope (SS), axial and sagittal acetabular anteversion angle (AAA), center-edge (CE) angle, Sharp angle, and femoral neck-shaft angle (FNSA) were measured and analyzed. Statistical analyses were used to compare the differences of these quantitative parameters among the three groups and to assess the relationship between hip and lumbar-pelvic parameters., Results: Significant differences between each pair of three groups and the LSTV subgroups were only found in the sagittal AAA (left side: P=0.008; right side: P<0.001), with no differences found for the other parameters. Compared to the normal group (24 PSV), both the 23 PSV and 25 PSV groups exhibited increased values in the sagittal AAA, especially in the right side of the 23 PSV group. Ralstonia solanacearum causes devastating diseases in a wide range of economically important crops. It secretes a large number of virulence factors, also known as effectors, to promote its infection, and some of them are recognized when the host plant contains corresponding resistance genes. In this study we showed that a type III effector RipTPS from the avirulent R. solanacearum strain GMI1000 (RipTPS G ) specifically induced cell death in Nicotiana tabacum , but not in Nicotiana benthamiana , whereas the RipTPS homolog in the virulent strain CQPS-1 (RipTPS C ) induced cell death in neither N. tabacum nor N. benthamiana . These results indicated that RipTPS G is recognized in N. tabacum . Expression of RipTPS G induced upregulation of hypersensitive response (HR) -related genes in N. tabacum . The virulence of CQPS-1 was reduced when RipTPS G was genetically introduced into CQPS-1, further confirming that RipTPS G functions as an avirulence determinant. Protein sequence alignment indicated that there are only three amino acid polymorphisms between RipTPS G and RipTPS C . Site-directed mutagenesis analyses confirmed that the three amino acid residues are jointly required for the recognition of RipTPS G in N. tabacum . Expression of either RipTPS G or RipTPS C suppressed flg22-triggered reactive oxygen species (ROS) burst in N. benthamiana , suggesting that RipTPS contributes to pathogen virulence. Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) can produce Cry proteins during the sporulation phase, and Cry protein is effective against lepidopteran, coleopteran, and dipteran insects and nematodes. However, Cry protein tends to be discharged into soil and nontarget plants through rainwater runoff, leading to reduced effective period toward target insects. In the present study, nano-Mg(OH) 2 (magnesium hydroxide nanoparticles, MHNPs) were synthesized to control the loss of Cry1Ac protein and deliver protein to Helicoverpa armigera (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). The results showed that Cry1Ac protein could be loaded onto MHNPs through electrostatic adsorption, and both MHNPs and Cry protein were stable during the adsorption process. Meanwhile, the Cry1Ac-loaded MHNPs could remain on the surface of cotton leaves, resulting in enhanced adhesion of Cry1Ac protein by 59.50% and increased pest mortality by 75.00%. Additionally, MHNPs could be slowly decomposed by acid medium and MHNPs showed no obvious influence on cotton, Bt, Escherichia coli, and H. armigera. Therefore, MHNPs could serve as an efficient nanocarrier for delivery of Cry1Ac protein and be used as a potential adjuvant for biopesticide in agricultural applications.

Nano-Mg(OH) 2 , with low biological toxicity, is an ideal nano-carrier for insecticidal protein to improve the bioactivity. In this work, the adsorption features of insecticidal protein by nano-Mg(OH) 2 have been studied. The adsorption capacity could reach as high as 136 mg g -1 , and the adsorption isotherm had been fitted with Langmuir and Freundlich models. Moreover, the adsorption kinetics followed a pseudo-first or -second order rate model, and the adsorption was spontaneous and an exothermic process. However, high temperatures are not suitable for adsorption, which implies that the temperature would be a critical factor during the adsorption process. In addition, FT-IR confirmed that the protein was adsorbed on the nano-Mg(OH) 2 , zeta potential analysis suggested that insecticidal protein was loaded onto the nano-Mg(OH) 2 not by electrostatic adsorption but maybe by intermolecular forces, and circular dichroism spectroscopy of Cry11Aa protein before and after loading with nano-Mg(OH) 2 was changed. The study applied the adsorption information between Cry11Aa and nano-Mg(OH) 2 , which would be useful in the practical application of nano-Mg(OH) 2 as a nano-carrier., Competing Interests: We declare we have no competing interests.

The traditional Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) formulations for field applications are not resistant to harsh environmental conditions. Hence, the active ingredients of the Bt bioinsecticides could degrade quickly and has low anti-ultraviolet ability in the field, which significantly limits its practical application. In the present study, we developed an efficient and stable delivery system for Bt Cry11Aa toxins. We coated Cry11Aa proteins with Mg(OH) 2 nanoparticles (MHNPs), and then assessed the effects of MHNPs on bioactivity and anti-ultraviolet ability of the Cry11Aa proteins. Our results indicated that MHNPs, like "coating clothes", could effectively protect the Cry protein and enhance the insecticidal bioactivity after UV radiation (the degradation rate was decreased from 64.29% to 16.67%). In addtion, MHNPs could improve the proteolysis of Cry11Aa in the midgut and aggravate the damage of the Cry protein to the gut epithelial cells, leading to increased insecticidal activity against Culex quinquefasciatus. Our results revealed that MHNPs, as an excellent nanocarrier, could substantially improve the insecticidal bioactivity and anti-ultraviolet ability of Cry11Aa.
