IntroductionRhizosphere bacterial community as a valuable indicator of soil quality and function, has been widespread studied. However, little knowledge is about the response of bacterial communities to plant–plant interaction and different fertilizers during secondary forest succession.MethodsWe conducted a field pot experiment applying organic and inorganic fertilizers to monocultures and mixed cultures of dominant plant species from mid- to late-successional stages (Salix oritrepha, Betula albosinensis, and Picea asperata), and investigated the responses of plant growth and rhizosphere bacterial communities.Results and discussionResults indicated that growth rate of plant height varied among plant species, but no significant differences were observed in soil bacterial diversity and composition among plant species or inter-specific interactions under control. Compared to control, inorganic fertilizer resulted in increases in plant growth and the relative abundance of Proteobacteria, Patescibacteria, Bacteroidetes and Gemmatimonadetes, while simultaneously leading to decrease in the relative abundance of Acidobacteria, Actinobacteria, Chloroflexi, Rokubacteria and Planctomycetes. When grown with other species, the bacterial communities in the mixture resembled those of S. oritrepha in singular monoculture under inorganic fertilizer treatment, but plant growth was not affected by interspecific interaction. Unlike inorganic fertilizer, organic fertilizer significantly affected bacterial communities and increased bacterial diversity, but did not alter the effects of plant–plant interactions on bacterial communities. It was also observed that organic fertilizer facilitated later successional species’ growth (P. asperata and B. albosinensis) by the mid-successional species (S. oritrepha), ultimately facilitating secondary forest succession. In addition, plants at different successional stages harbor specific bacterial communities to affect their growth, and the bacterial communities contributed more than soil properties to the variations in the plant growth of S. oritrepha and P. asperata though the bacterial communities were regulated by soil factors. This finding highlights the significance of the rhizosphere bacteria on plant growth and plant community succession. It also emphasize the importance of considering both plant–plant interactions and diverse fertilizer types in forest restoration efforts and provide valuable insights into optimizing agronomic practices for secondary forest succession.

Root exudates play an important role in belowground ecological processes, by which plants can regulate the soil ecosystem. However, studies on the effects of root exudates on aboveground plant emergence and growth and thus vegetation regeneration are still lacking, particularly in subalpine forests. In this study, we collected the root exudates of dominant plants at different successional stages (early-stage herbs, mid-stage shrubs and late-stage broadleaf and coniferous trees) in a subalpine region of southwestern China, and used them to condition the soil collected in the field. Using the conditioned soil, a pot experiment on the seed germination and seedling growth of subalpine dominant trees (Betula albosinensis, Betula platyphylla and Picea asperata) was conducted in an artificial climate chamber. The seed germination rate and seedling biomass of the subalpine trees, as well as the soil properties and microbial community structure in the potting soils, were measured. Our results showed that root exudates of different successional stages had significant and distinct effects on the seed germination and seedling growth of the subalpine trees, and these effects differed among the tree species. Specifically, the seed germination rate and seedling biomass of P. asperata were promoted, while those of B. albosinensis and B. platyphylla were inhibited under the addition treatments of the herb root exudates. Furthermore, our study suggested that the soil bacterial community contributed more than soil properties and the fungal community to the variations in the seedling biomass of subalpine trees, and the effects of root exudates on seedling biomass were significantly mediated by the soil bacterial community. Overall, these results implied that root exudates of different successional stages could affect the seedling growth of subalpine trees by regulating soil microbial communities, highlighting the critical role of root exudates during forest succession and providing important insights into the potential rhizosphere mechanisms of forest succession.

Abstract Urban railways in coastal areas are exposed to the risk of extreme weather conditions. A cost-effective and robust wind monitoring system, as a vital part of the railway infrastructure, is essential for ensuring safety and efficiency. However, insufficient sensors along urban rail lines may result in failure to detect local strong winds, thus impacting urban rail safety and operational efficiency. This paper proposes a hybrid method based on historical wind speed data analysis to optimize wind monitoring system deployment. The proposed methodology integrates warning similarity and trend similarity with a linear combination and develops a constrained quadratic programming model to determine the combined weights. The methodology is demonstrated and verified based on a real-world case of an urban rail line. The results show that the proposed method outperforms the single similarity-based method and spatial interpolation approach in terms of both evaluation accuracy and robustness. This study provides a practical data-driven tool for urban rail operators to optimize their wind sensor networks with limited data and resources. It can contribute significantly to enhancing railway system operational efficiency and reducing the hazards on rail infrastructures and facilities under strong wind conditions. Additionally, the novel methodology and evaluation framework can be efficiently applied to the monitoring of other extreme weather conditions, further enhancing urban rail safety.

Underground space development is a crucial approach to addressing traffic congestion in China’s cities, especially through underground construction. However, the traditional pit internal support system, particularly the concrete internal support system, has significant drawbacks. These include high energy consumption and carbon emissions, which are increasingly prominent issues. In this paper, a hollow precast concrete-filled steel tube (H-CFST) internal support system is proposed and a node connection scheme is designed. Through numerical simulation, the load-bearing characteristics of H-CFST with different aspect ratios, hollow ratios, hoop thicknesses, and hoop lengths are investigated, and the optimal design parameters are obtained. Finally, following a field application, monitoring data reveal that the precast H-CFST internal support demonstrates superior load-bearing capacity compared to the concrete internal support, successfully meeting the criteria for replacement of the concrete support.

Thin-walled connection structures are commonly used in the hot-end components of aerospace vehicles. Large deflection nonlinear responses and fatigue failure occur due to their discontinuous mass distribution and prominent cross-sectional changes under the action of complex thermal, aerodynamic, and noise loads. A thermoacoustic fatigue test was carried out to obtain the acoustic and vibration responses and fatigue life changes of the connection structure under heat flow conditions in engineering applications. The high-temperature acoustic fatigue test system of aviation thin-walled structures was used, taking the high-temperature alloy thin-walled plate-load-bearing frame bolted connection structure as the research object. As a result, the vibration response and fatigue life under different thermoacoustic loads were obtained. The contact finite element method was used to simulate the connection pre-tightening force, and the coupled finite element/boundary element method was used to calculate the acoustic and vibration response of the heat flow conditions. The changing rules of the frequency response peak value at the critical point of the thin-walled connection structure under the effects of different temperature fields, fluid fields, and sound fields were obtained through the processing and analysis of the calculation results. Considering the structural vibration fatigue damage mechanism, this study employed an improved rainflow counting method to compute the rainflow circulation matrix (RFM) and rainflow damage matrix (RFD) of the vibration stress time history at critical points within the structure framework. Said method was combined with Miner’s linear cumulative damage theory to estimate the fatigue life under various thermal-fluid-acoustic coupled loads. A comprehensive analysis validates the accuracy of the established numerical simulation calculation model in identifying critical connection points within structures subjected to pre-tightening forces. This model effectively characterizes thermal, aerodynamic, and acoustic loads on high-temperature alloy thin-walled-load-bearing frame bolted connection structures. It delineates the relationship between vibration response and fatigue life while assessing the impact of three distinct load parameters.

The interlayer properties of the CRTS III slab track during construction directly affect its long-term service condition. This article introduces time-varying coefficients that characterize the early properties of the interface between track slab and SCC to improve the bilinear CZM. Based on this, an interlayer property evolution model of the CRTS III slab track during construction is established. The evolution mechanism of interlayer properties under complex loads and the influence mechanism of key parameters on them are revealed. The results show that after SCC pouring, the interlayer damage at the corner of the slab becomes a sensitive area due to the combined effects of SCC shrinkage and temperature gradients. Interlayer damage initially manifests at the corner of the slab before progressively spreading toward the center of the slab, influencing the composite performance and force transmission characteristics of the track structure. The interlayer bonding property, shrinkage performance of SCC, and construction temperature substantially affect interlayer damage evolution. To reduce the risk of damage, mineral admixtures and expansion agents can be added as additives to improve the bonding property and minimize shrinkage of SCC. Insulation measures should be taken for SCC during low-temperature construction, and SCC pouring construction below 0 °C and above 30 °C should be avoided.

Knowledge of variations in abundant and rare soil microbial communities and interactions during secondary forest succession is lacking. Soil samples were gathered from different secondary successional stages (grassland, shrubland, and secondary forest) to study the responses of abundant and rare bacterial and fungal communities, interactions and driving factors to secondary forest succession by Illumina sequencing of the 16S and ITS rRNA genes. The results showed that the α-diversities (Shannon index) of abundant bacteria and fungi revealed no significant changes during secondary forest succession, but increased significantly for rare bacteria. The abundant and rare bacterial and fungal β-diversities changed significantly during secondary forest succession. Network analysis showed no obvious changes in the topological properties (nodes, links, and average degree) of abundant microbial networks during secondary forest succession. In contrast, these properties of the rare microbial networks in the secondary forest were higher than those in the grassland and shrubland, indicating that rare microbial networks are more responsive to secondary forest succession than abundant microorganisms. Additionally, rare microbial networks revealed more microbial interactions and greater network complexity than abundant microbial networks due to their higher numbers of nodes and links. The keystone species differed between the abundant and rare microbial networks and consisted of 1 and 48 keystone taxa in the abundant and rare microbial networks, respectively. Soil TP was the most important influencing factor of abundant and rare bacterial communities. Successional stages and plant richness had the most important influences on abundant and rare fungal communities, respectively. C:P, SM and N:P were mainly related to abundant and rare microbial network topological properties. Our study indicates that abundant and rare microbial communities, interactions and driving factors respond differently to secondary forest succession.

For high-speed railway operations at the network level, unforeseen events that lead to operation interruptions are inevitable, which should be handled within a short period of time to reduce the influence of the events as much as possible. This paper introduces an integrated optimization method to deal with rescheduling problems at the railway network level under emergencies, rescheduling the train timetable, and utilizing the train sets. train set A three-objective optimization model is proposed with the aim of minimizing additional operation costs, total delay, and the number of transfer passengers. Then, an algorithm based on NSGA-III is proposed to solve the model. Computational experiments on real data are conducted to show the adaptability of the model and algorithm. The average optimization rate of the three objectives is 12.12%, 14.12%, and 10.57%, indicating the effectiveness of the method. Moreover, more experiments on a railway network in China are being conducted to analyze which section and which time have the greatest impact on the railway network when emergencies occur. According to the experiment, the bottleneck section is section 15, and the bottleneck time is 11:00 am. In addition, the importance of all the depots is discussed, and depot II is selected as the most important depot.

This research paper proposes a Lagrangian method to address the passing capacity of the calculation problem (PCCP) for a hub station in a high-speed railway (HSR) system. The passing capacity of a hub station is critical for determining the train timetable and maximizing the number of trains that can operate on different lines. The objective of this study is to determine the maximum number of trains that can pass through, start at, or end at a hub station. To achieve this objective, a mathematical model was introduced to solve the PCCP. The model was decomposed into two parts using a Lagrangian relaxation algorithm. The first part of the model was a simple train arrival problem (TAP) that reflected the timing of trains at the hub station with simultaneous arrival and departure time constraints. The second part of the model was a train spatio-temporal routing problem (TSRP) that aimed to solve the shortest spatio-temporal path of trains with free conflict with the train’s trajectory. A real instance was provided to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach and the effectiveness of the Lagrangian method. The results showed that the proposed method can efficiently solve the PCCP and maximize the passing capacity of a hub station in an HSR system.

Nematodes are among the most important faunal groups in soil food webs and serve as important bioindicators in evaluating subsurface ecological processes and ecosystem functioning. Although previous studies have reported the effects of vegetation types on soil nematode communities, the community patterns of soil nematodes at different soil depths during secondary forest succession remain unclear. Through a field survey, we investigated how soil nematode community characteristics changed at two soil depths (0–10 cm and 10–20 cm) across subalpine forest successional stages consisting of grasslands, shrublands and forests in Southwest China. We measured soil properties and microbial biomass to analyze significant environmental factors influencing variations in soil nematode communities. With forest succession, we observed increases in the total nematode abundance and maturity index and a decreased plant parasitic index, indicating more stable food webs and lower root herbivory hazards in forests than in grasslands and shrublands. Fungivore diversity was significantly increased and herbivore diversity was significantly decreased during forest succession, despite no significant difference existing in the total nematode diversity among the three successional stages. The abundances of the dominant nematode genera Helicotylenchus and Tylencholaimus were significantly correlated with forest succession. In addition, the variations in soil nematode communities differed between the two soil depths, presumably due to various soil variables. NO-3-N and pH were the dominant determinants of the variations in soil nematode communities at 0–10 cm soil depth, while SOC was the dominant determinant at 10–20 cm soil depth. Overall, our results suggested that forest succession exhibited layer-specific effects on soil nematode communities via different soil variables, and that specific nematode genera could serve as useful bioindicators during forest succession.

The problem of excessive wear of pantograph strips frequently occurs on China’s Z City Metro Line 1. After on-site investigation and analysis by the metro operating company, it was speculated that the problem was related to abnormal track irregularities. Therefore, taking Z City Metro Line 1 as the main research object, the measured track irregularity of the whole line was analyzed and compared with other typical track spectra, and a track-vehicle-pantograph-catenary coupling dynamics model was established to analyze the relationship between the pantograph-catenary dynamic characteristics and the track irregularity. The two frequency ranges of the track irregularity that have a significant impact on the pantograph-catenary contact were found. Finally, after numerical calculation and analysis, it is recommended to focus on the irregularities with the two wavelength ranges of 9~16 m and 3~4 m in the maintenance.

Nowadays, high-speed railway (HSR) has become one of the main choices for passengers. As the number of passengers increases, their travel demands become diverse and the fluctuation range of passenger travel demands will also increase. In order to adapt to the change of passenger travel demands, the switching frequency of timetables needs to be increased. When switching the timetable, the train-set circulation plan also needs to be considered. In this paper, a scheduling approach for quickly solving the timetable and the train-set circulation plan in the transition time is proposed. A section sequence is constructed in the integer programming model, and the primary train-set circulation plan is obtained. Then a stop plan is obtained on the basis of passenger travel demands. To obtain the final train-set circulation plan and the timetable, a genetic algorithm (GA) is designed, and a method that can ensure that the timetable meets the safety operation requirements is proposed. The scheduling approach is tested on the Beijing-Shanghai HSR. The results show that by extending the transition time, the scheduling approach can switch the train-set position from the old state to new state, without additional consumption of resources, on the premise of meeting the travel demands of passengers.

Abstract Background Since the high-rise buildings and deep underground structures dramatically increases in urban area, the decent design and construction of deep excavations is essential before these structures are actually built up. The building area is very susceptible to the changes of their geo-environment, and even minor insecurity of a deep excavation may lead to a catastrophic failure of structures and deformation of the ground. Therefore, the adverse influence of deep excavation on the surrounding environment should be monitored and controlled stringently. Results Based on the real case of deep excavation in Xuzhou, China, a FDM numerical model, which was accomplished by FLAC-3D, was developed to evaluate the deformation of retaining piles and ground surface under various excavation support systems. The original pile-anchor support system was simulated as well as the proposed quincunx double-row piles support system. For the original support system, the deformations were discussed by comparing the numerical results with monitoring data. For the proposed support system, orthogonal tests were designed to evaluate the influence of multiple factors on the effectiveness of excavation support. The optimum solution for the proposed support system was obtained through orthogonal tests. Conclusion Results show that the pile space is the primary factor for the excavation-induced deformations, which can be reflected by the lateral displacement of retaining piles and the settlement around the excavation, while the row space has insignificant influence on the deformations. The conclusions of this paper can contribute to the design of similar projects and avoid excessive deformation of the ground during excavation in the future.

In this article, we establish sufficient conditions on the existence and upper semi-continuity of pullback attractors in some non-initial spaces for non-autonomous random dynamical systems. As an application, we prove the existence and upper semi-continuity of pullback attractors in $H^1(\mathbb{R}^N)$ are proved for stochastic non-autonomous reaction-diffusion equation driven by a Wiener type multiplicative noise as well as a non-autonomous forcing. The asymptotic compactness of solutions in $H^1(\mathbb{R}^N)$ is proved by the well-known tail estimate technique and the estimate of the integral of $L^{2p-2}$-norm of truncation of solutions over a compact interval.

Uneven subgrade frost heave has been a severe problem for the operation of high-speed railways in cold regions. In order to reveal the influencing mechanism of frost heave on the vehicle-track system, a novel FEM (finite element method) model based on an explicit algorithm was proposed. In the novel model, the existence of the leverage effect in slab track, which was caused by frost heave, was realistically reproduced at first, and then the vehicle model started running for evaluating the influence of the frost heave on the whole dynamic system. Results show that the leverage effect plays a key role in analyzing the influence of frost heave on the vehicle-track system, besides for track irregularity and contact loss. Specifically, the leverage effect decreases the stability of the slab track and causes an increase in dynamic irregularity. The roles of the track irregularity and the contact loss in the influencing mechanism were also revealed. With the ratio of wavelength to amplitude increasing, the track irregularity is gradually dominant in the influence mechanism of frost heave on the vehicle-track system. The research could provide a reference for the management and maintenance of the slab track in cold regions.

Information on how soil microbial communities respond to warming is still scarce for alpine scrub ecosystems. We conducted a field experiment with two plant treatments (plant removal or undisturbed) subjected to warmed or unwarmed conditions to examine the effects of warming and plant removal on soil microbial community structures during the growing season in a Sibiraea angustata scrubland of the eastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. The results indicate that experimental warming significantly influenced soil microbial biomass carbon (MBC) and microbial biomass nitrogen (MBN), but the warming effects were dependent on the plant treatments and sampling seasons. In the plant-removal plots, warming did not affect most of the microbial variables, while in the undisturbed plots, warming significantly increased the abundances of actinomycete and Gram-positive bacterial groups during the mid-growing season (July), but it did not affect the fungi groups. Plant removal significantly reduced fungal abundance throughout the growing season and significantly altered the soil microbial community structure in July. The interaction between warming and plant removal significantly influenced the soil MBC and MBN and the abundances of total microbes, bacteria and actinomycete throughout the growing season. Experimental warming significantly reduced the abundance of rare taxa, while the interaction between warming and plant removal tended to have strong effects on the abundant taxa. These findings suggest that the responses of soil microbial communities to warming are regulated by plant communities. These results provide new insights into how soil microbial community structure responds to climatic warming in alpine scrub ecosystems.

This article concerns the dynamics of stochastic nonclassical diffusion equation on $\mathbb{R}^N$ perturbed by a $\epsilon$-random term, where $\epsilon\in(0,1]$ is the intension of noise. By using an energy approach, we prove the asymptotic compactness of the associated random dynamical system, and then the existence of random attractors in $H^1(\mathbb{R}^N)$. Finally, we show the upper semi-continuity of random attractors at $\epsilon=0$ in the sense of Hausdorff semi-metric in $H^1(\mathbb{R}^N)$, which implies that the obtained family of random attractors indexed by $\epsilon$ converge to a deterministic attractor as $\epsilon$ vanishes.

This work studies the long-time behavior of two-dimensional micropolar fluid flows perturbed by the generalized time derivative of the infinite dimensional Wiener processes. Based on the omega-limit compactness argument as well as some new estimates of solutions, it is proved that the generated random dynamical system admits an H^1-random attractor which is compact in H^1 space and attracts all tempered random subsets of L^2 space in H^1 topology. We also give a general abstract result which shows that the continuity condition and absorption of the associated random dynamical system in H^1 space is not necessary for the existence of random attractor in H^1 space.

Crack propagation produced by frost heave affects the durability of slab-track structures in high-humidity and cold regions in China. This work is intended to reveal the evolution laws of frost-heave crack propagation, establish evaluation criteria for crack propagation, and investigate factors involved in frost-heave crack propagation. Firstly, by preparing slab-track specimens with initial cracks, an experiment of frost-heave crack propagation was designed. The process of frost-heave crack propagation was carried out by means of digital image correlation (DIC) technology and acoustic emission (AE) technology, respectively. These experiments revealed the evolution laws of generalized strain and AE events’ location during crack initiation and propagation, respectively, and the key parameters of micro-crack initiation strain and unstable propagation strain were obtained. By using theoretical and experimental analysis, a double-strain criterion for frost-heave crack propagation was proposed. Finally, factors involved in frost-heave crack propagation were investigated. The results show that crack initiation can be reflected by the crack-tip strain. The average micro-crack initiation strain and unstable propagation strain were found to be 224 με and 243 με, respectively. Moreover, it was found that the frost-heave crack propagation was caused by an ice plug which formed at the crack opening. When the crack width is larger than 2.7 mm and the external temperature is lower than −6.6 °C, cracks propagate easily under the frost-heave force.

We first establish the existence and uniqueness of a solution for a stochastic p-Laplacian-type equation with additive white noise and show that the unique solution generates a stochastic dynamical system. By using the Dirichlet forms of Laplacian and an approximation procedure, the nonlinear obstacle, arising from the additive noise is overcome when we make energy estimate. Then, we obtain a random attractor for this stochastic dynamical system. Finally, under a restrictive assumption on the monotonicity coefficient, we find that the random attractor consists of a single point, and therefore the system possesses a unique stationary solution.

NOx emission reduction from gas boilers has become a key issue in improving air quality. Combustion air humidification technology is gradually being used to reduce NOx emissions. However, the NOx emission reduction effect of gas boilers at a higher combustion air humidity has been studied less. A flue gas with low NOx emissions and a waste heat recovery system using combustion air humidification technology are proposed in this study. In the ultra-low NOx mode, the effect of high combustion air humidity on NOx emission reduction and efficiency of the gas boiler were studied experimentally. In the waste heat recovery mode, the effects of the heat network backwater temperature on the NOx emission reduction and system efficiency were studied experimentally. Results showed that an increase in air humidity can significantly reduce the NOx concentration formed by combustion. The ultra-low NOx mode reduces NOx emissions from 130mg/m3 to 23.3 mg/m3 and affects the boiler efficiency slightly. In the waste heat recovery mode, NOx emissions can be reduced to 39.9mg/m3 when the backwater temperature of the heat network is 55 °C. This condition improves the efficiency to 93.8%. Understanding the leaf stoichiometric patterns is crucial for improving predictions on plant responses to environmental changes. Leaf stoichiometry of terrestrial ecosystems has been widely investigated along latitudinal and longitudinal gradients. Still, very little is known on the vertical distribution of leaf C:N:P and the relative effects of environmental parameters, especially for shrubs. Here, we analyzed the shrub leaf C, N and P patterns in 125 mountainous sites over an extensive altitudinal gradient (523-4685m) on the Tibetan Plateau. Results showed that the shrub leaf C and C:N were 7.3%-47.5% higher than those of other regional and global flora, whereas the leaf N and N:P were 10.2%-75.8% lower. Leaf C increased with rising altitude and decreasing temperature, supporting the physiological acclimation mechanism that high leaf C (e.g., alpine or evergreen shrub) could balance the cell osmotic pressure and resist freezing. The largest leaf N and high leaf P occurred in valley region (altitude 1500m), likely due to the large nutrient leaching from higher elevations, faster litter decomposition and nutrient resorption ability of deciduous broadleaf shrub. Leaf N:P ratio further indicated increasing N limitation at higher altitudes. Interestingly, the drought severity was the only climatic factor positively correlated with leaf N and P, which was more appropriate for evaluating the impact of water status than precipitation. Among the shrub ecosystem and functional types (alpine, subalpine, montane, valley, evergreen, deciduous, broadleaf, and conifer), their leaf element contents and responses to environments were remarkably different. Shrub type was the largest contributor to the total variations in leaf stoichiometry, while climate indirectly affected the leaf C:N:P via its interactive effects on shrub type or soil. Collectively, the large heterogeneity in shrub type was the most important factor explaining the overall leaf C:N:P variations, despite the broad climate gradient on the plateau. This work reported a novel magnetorheological plastomer doped with hard magnetic NdFeB particles (named as H-MRP). The dynamic properties of the H-MRP were systematically tested, and the mechanism of its unusual response to magnetic field was discussed. Unlike the MRP filled with soft magnetic particles (S-MRP), the storage modulus (G') of H-MRPs kept growing by 20% when the magnetic field decreased, while that of S-MRPs decreased with decreasing of the magnetic field immediately without an obvious change. Under the magnetic field ranging from 0 to 1 T, there was a peak value in the rising stage of G' at about 400 mT magnetic field, while that of S-MRPs changed monotonically. After an off-on progress of the magnetic field, the final G' of H-MRPs increased by over 10%. A possible mechanism was proposed to study the microstructure dependent mechanical properties. It was found that the complex viscoelastic behavior originated from the large hysteresis characteristics of the H-MRPs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As a kind of novel magneto-sensitive smart soft material, magnetorheological plastomers (MPPs) have great application potential in the areas of absorber, damper and sensor. In this work, the mechanical behaviors of MRPs under several different varying magnetic fields were studied. The viscoelastic characteristic of the MRPs was seriously depended on the type of external magnetic field. A linearly changed magnetic field would cause the increase of zero field storage modulus ΔG0′ of MPRs for about 1 MPa, which would severely reduce the magnetorheological effect of MRPs (from 500% to 50%). The direction of the external magnetic field had no influence on the variation of G0′. While under the square wave magnetic field, no variation of the magnetic storage modulus was found when the external magnetic field was removed. A particle-level dynamics simulation was performed to observe the microstructure evolution of the MRP sample under different magnetic loading model. And a possible mechanism was proposed to explain the different residual storage modulus of the MRPs sample under different magnetic loading mode. The discovery would contribute to enhance the regulatory capacity of the MRP material in the application of the smart device. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
