Mangiferin is a xanthonoid found in Mango leaves in abundance with many effects as a hypoglycemic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory agent, plant metabolite, and so on. However, nowadays, mango leaves are merely a waste product in Vietnam. To take advantage of this valuable medicinal resource, extraction conditions of mangiferin using classical and ultrasound methods were researched, and mangiferin was purified from Cat Chu mango leaves (Mangifera indica L., Anacardiaceae) collected in Dong Thap. Ultrasound-assisted extraction method was conducted with the following conditions and mangiferin was extracted at a percentage of 6.728% with a purity of 91.11%. Purified mangiferin was evaluated using molecular absorption spectroscopy UV-Vis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectroscopy, simultaneous thermal analysis (STA: TGA/DSC), and dissolution measurement method. To optimize the solubility and permeability of mangiferin, the solid dispersion system (HPTR) was made by the combination of HPMC 6M:mangiferin at the ratio of 1:5. To investigate the acute, sub-chronic toxicity and hypolipidemia effect of HPTR as compared to purified mangiferin, we followed guidelines for preclinical and clinical trials of Traditional Medicine and Herbal Medicines by the Vietnam Ministry of Health and OECD, and used tyloxapol (Triton WR1339, 400 mg/kg, i.p.) to induce hyperlipidemia. Our results indicated that purified mangiferin and HPTR extract showed no acute toxicity and sub-chronic toxicity and has potential as an antihyperlipidemic agent. The HPTR brought about a significant decrease in total cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL-c when compared to mangiferin, however there was no significance between them.

Introduction: Endovascular aneurysm sealing (EVAS) appeared to be an innovative alternative to conventional endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. However, high rates of midterm failure of EVAS led to withdrawal of the device from the market. The study aim was to report midterm outcomes of patients treated with EVAS alone or associated with chimneys (Ch-EVAS) and the management of their complications. Methods: In this single centre study, all consecutive Nellix implants between 2013 and 2016 were included. The primary endpoint was device failure: (1) a triad of caudal migration of the Nellix stents >5 mm, separation of the endobags (>5 mm), and sac enlargement (>5 mm), with or without visible endoleak, (2) secondary aneurysm rupture, (3) surgical explant of the graft, or (4) any intervention for a type I endoleak. Overall mortality, aneurysm related mortality, and re-intervention rates were analysed. Results: Fifty patients (male n = 43, female n = 7) were included. Median follow-up was 3.05 years (interquartile range [IQR] 0.52, 4.63) and follow up index was 0.51 (IQR 0.10, 0.88). Device failures occurred in 17 patients (34%). Overall and aneurysm related mortality rates during the follow up period were 30% and 13%. Fourteen (28%) patients required re-interventions. Five EVAS patients (17%) presented with complications. Type Ia endoleaks were managed by device explantation for three patients, and endovascular aneurysm repair in Nellix for two patients. Type Ib endoleaks were managed with an iliac branched device and limb extension. Nine Ch-EVAS patients (42.9%) presented with complications. Type Ia endoleaks were was managed by Nellix stent prolongation and renal extension, two multibranched thoraco-abdominal devices, and two device explantations. Type Ib endoleaks were managed by limb extension and stent complications by stent angioplasty and iliorenal bypass. Conclusion: The midterm outcome of EVAS is poor. All patients who underwent EVAS implantation must be informed and should undergo frequent surveillance. Open repair and device explantation should be considered as the primary treatment.

As a developing countries, Vietnam has been facing a myriad of challenges in various aspects during the COVID-19 pandemic. Educational sector is not an exception as it is currently suffering the heavy consequences of the constant disruptions stemming from the switching to online learning. This study was conducted with the aim of surveying and evaluating the views of students of the Faculty of Medicine at Nguyen Tat Thanh University on the influence of online learning on learning quality. Using data from survey questionnaires, the results show that the online learning has impacted different learning aspects of students such as: time management, online satisfaction, training problems. At the same time, the study also recognizes the contributions of students in improving the quality of online teaching of Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

Regular assessment of disease activity in relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) is required to optimize clinical outcomes. Biomarkers can be a valuable tool for measuring disease activity in multiple sclerosis (MS) if they reflect the pathological processes underlying MS pathogenicity. In this pilot study, we combined multiple biomarkers previously analyzed in RRMS patients into an MS disease activity (MSDA) score to evaluate their ability to predict relapses and treatment response to glatiramer acetate (GA). Response Gene to Complement 32 (RGC-32), FasL, IL-21, SIRT1, phosphorylated SIRT1 (p-SIRT1), and JNK1 p54 levels were used to generate cut-off values for each biomarker. Any value below the cutoff for RGC-32, FasL SIRT1, or p-SIRT1 or above the cutoff for IL-21 or JNK1 p54 was given a +1 value, indicating relapse or lack of response to GA. Any value above the cutoff value for RGC-32, FasL, SIRT1, p-SIRT1 or below that for IL-21 or JNK1 p54 was given a -1 value, indicating clinical stability or response to GA. An MSDA score above +1 indicated a relapse or lack of response to treatment. An MSDA score below -1 indicated clinical stability or response to treatment. Our results showed that the MSDA scores generated using either four or six biomarkers had a higher sensitivity and specificity and significantly correlated with the expanded disability status scale. Although these results suggest that the MSDA test can be useful for monitoring therapeutic response to biologic agents and assessing clinically challenging situations, the present findings need to be confirmed in larger studies.

In the nature, Candida species are normal inhabitants and can be observed in a wide variety of vertebrates. In humans, especially for cancer patients who fall prey to opportunistic pathogens, this group of susceptible multi-drug resistant and biofilm-forming yeasts, are among the commonest ones. In this study, Candida species in 76 oral lesion samples from Vietnamese nasopharyngeal-cancer patients were isolated, morphologically identified using CHROMagar™, germ tube formation, and chlamydospore formation tests, and molecularly confirmed by PCR-RFLP. The drug susceptibility of these isolates was then tested, and the gene ERG11 was DNA sequenced to investigate the mechanism of resistance.The results showed that Candida albicans remained the most prevalent species (63.16% of the cases), followed by Candida glabrata, Candida tropicalis, and Candida krusei. The rates of resistance of non-albicans Candida for tested drugs were 85.71%, 53.57%, and 57.14% to fluconazole, clotrimazole, and miconazole, respectively. Although the drug-resistance rate of Candida albicans was lower than that of non-albicans Candida, it was higher than expected, suggesting an emerging drug-resistance phenomenon. Furthermore, ERG11 DNA sequencing revealed different mutations (especially K128T), implying the presence of multiple resistance mechanisms. Altogether, the results indicate an alarming drug-resistance situation in Candida species in Vietnamese cancer patients and emphasize the importance of species identification and their drug susceptibility prior to treatment.

Nomophobia, the fear of being without one's smartphone, is pervasive among students globally, yet its relationship with smartphone uses and academic achievement remains underexplored, particularly in countries like Vietnam. This cross-sectional study examined 950 students from six high schools in Central Vietnam. Results revealed that 60.1% of participants used smartphones for over three years, dedicating an average of 5.73 h daily. Nomophobia prevalence reached 99.9%, with 23.7% exhibiting severe levels. Females and older students displayed higher nomophobia levels than males and younger peers. A robust correlation emerged between nomophobia and daily phone-checking frequency. The study emphasizes the urgent need for further research to uncover contributing mechanisms to nomophobia and develop interventions promoting responsible smartphone use among students, providing valuable insights into an increasingly prevalent concern impacting the academic landscape.

Paenibacillus tyrfis YSS-72.2.G2 is a soil chitinolytic bacterium newly isolated from Yok Don National Park of Vietnam. Our previous results demonstrated that this bacterium was a strong chitinase producer, possessed plant growth promotion, and had high activity against phytopathogenic fungi. However, the genome sequence of this strain is unknown. This work aimed to establish data on the genome sequence of P. tyrfis YSS-72.2.G2 and its chitinase system for further assessments regarding biocontrol mechanisms and plant growth promotion. The P. tyrfis YSS-72.2.G2 genome is 7,756,121 bp in size and 53.4 % G+C. It harbors 6,948 protein-coding genes, 5 rRNA genes, 82 tRNA genes, 4 ncRNA genes, 99 pseudo genes, and 5 CRISPR arrays. Genes involved in heavy metal resistance (5 genes), iron acquisition (5 genes), and IAA biosynthesis (5 genes) were predicted in the genome. There were 234 carbohydrate-active enzymes found in this genome; among them, 13 enzymes possibly possess activity against phytopathogens. Chitin-degrading system of YSS-72.2.G2 contains 15 chitinolytic enzymes. In addition, 28 gene clusters coding for antimicrobial metabolites were identified, of these, 14 show no sequence similarities to the known clusters. The raw sequences were submitted to the Sequence Read Archive on the National Center for Biotechnology Information with accession number PRJNA946889. The genome sequence of P. tyrfis YSS-72.2.G2 has been deposited in the DDBJ/GenBank/EMBL database under accession number NZ_BSDJ00000000. Data provide insight into the genomic information of strain YSS-72.2.G2. This is the first work reporting data on the genome sequence of P. tyrfis isolated from Vietnam.

Introduction: Olfactory dysfunction is one of the most common non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease (PD). The association between smell identification ability and motor subtypes of PD is not uniform in previous studies. This study aimed to compare the odor identification ability among different motor subtypes of PD in Vietnamese participants. Methods: Patients who were diagnosed with PD according to the International Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Society 2015 Diagnostic Criteria and had normal cognitive function were recruited. Participants were divided into akinetic-rigid (AR), tremor-dominant (TD), and mixed (MX) motor subgroups using the Movement Disorder Society-Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) score. Olfactory identification ability was evaluated using the Vietnamese Smell Identification Test (VSIT) and the Brief Smell Identification Test (BSIT). Cognitive status was assessed using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Age, age at PD onset, disease duration, smell identification ability, and cognitive function were compared among the three PD motor subtypes. Results: The AR subgroup was the most common motor subtype (n = 164, 75.2 %), followed by TD (n = 39, 17.9 %), and MX (n = 15, 6.9 %) subtypes. Age, age at PD onset, sex, disease duration, and MMSE score were not significantly different between the three motor subgroups (all p > 0.05). The median (IQR) VSIT scores of AR, TD, and MX subgroups were 5.00 [4.00;7.00], 5.00 [3.50;7.00], and 5.00 [3.00;6.00], respectively. The median (IQR) BSIT scores of AR, TD, and MX subgroups were 6.00 [4.00;7.00], 5.00 [4.00;7.00], and 5.00 [4.50;7.00], respectively. The VSIT and the BSIT scores were not significantly different among the three motor subtypes (all p > 0.05). Conclusion: Smell identification ability assessed in both the VSIT and BSIT did not differ across the three motor subtypes of PD.

This paper surveys the Linear Quadratic Estimation (LQE) and Model Predictive Control (MPC) discrete control methods applied to the Acrobot system. Both techniques aim to achieve and maintain a balanced position for the Acrobot. Through evaluation and comparison, we highlight their strengths, limitations, and potential applications, offering insights for future robotic control research.

Abstract Background Visualising patient genomic data in a cohort with embedding data analytics models can provide relevant and sensible patient comparisons to assist a clinician with treatment decisions. As immersive technology is actively used around the medical world, there is a rising demand for an efficient environment that can effectively display genomic data visualisations on immersive devices such as a Virtual Reality (VR) environment. The VR technology will allow clinicians, biologists, and computer scientists to explore a cohort of individual patients within the 3D environment. However, demonstrating the feasibility of the VR prototype needs domain users’ feedback for future user-centred design and a better cognitive model of human–computer interactions. There is limited research work for collecting and integrating domain knowledge into the prototype design. Objective A usability study for the VR prototype–-Virtual Reality to Observe Oncology data Models (VROOM) was implemented. VROOM was designed based on a preliminary study among medical users. The goals of this usability study included establishing a baseline of user experience, validating user performance measures, and identifying potential design improvements that are to be addressed to improve efficiency, functionality, and end-user satisfaction. Methods The study was conducted with a group of domain users (10 males, 10 females) with portable VR devices and camera equipment. These domain users included medical users such as clinicians and genetic scientists and computing domain users such as bioinformatics and data analysts. Users were asked to complete routine tasks based on a clinical scenario. Sessions were recorded and analysed to identify potential areas for improvement to the data visual analytics projects in the VR environment. The one-hour usability study included learning VR interaction gestures, running visual analytics tool, and collecting before and after feedback. The feedback was analysed with different methods to measure effectiveness. The statistical method Mann–Whitney U test was used to analyse various task performances among the different participant groups, and multiple data visualisations were created to find insights from questionnaire answers. Results The usability study investigated the feasibility of using VR for genomic data analysis in domain users’ daily work. From the feedback, 65% of the participants, especially clinicians (75% of them), indicated that the VR prototype is potentially helpful for domain users’ daily work but needed more flexibility, such as allowing them to define their features for machine learning part, adding new patient data, and importing their datasets in a better way. We calculated the engaged time for each task and compared them among different user groups. Computing domain users spent 50% more time exploring the algorithms and datasets than medical domain users. Additionally, the medical domain users engaged in the data visual analytics parts (approximately 20%) longer than the computing domain users.

Abstract The current study aimed to identify the chemical constituents and bioactivities of the crude ethanolic extract (CEE) and its fractions (ethyl acetate (EAF), hexane (HEF), and aqueous (AEF)) from leaves of cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) grown in Vietnam. A total of 31 compounds which belong to alkanes, hydrocarbons, iodine, terpenoids, phenolics, and flavonoids were determined by a gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) analysis, with bis(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate being the most prevailing compound. The highest total phenolic and flavonoid contents were obtained in the EAF, followed by HEF, CEE, and AQF. All samples showed promising in vitro antibacterial activity, enzyme inhibition, and anticancer activity. Among the samples tested, the EAF exhibited the highest enzyme inhibition activity against α‐amylase and α‐glucosidase (IC50 values of 51.24 μg/mL and 99.29 μg/mL, respectively), cytotoxicity activity against HeLa cells (IC50 value of 79.49 μg/mL), and antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli with MIC values of 5 mg/mL and 2.5 mg/mL, respectively. These findings suggest that the leaves of A. occidentale cultivated in Vietnam are a promising source of bioactive components and that EAF is a promising bioactive material warranting further pharmaceutical investigation.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) has a poor survival rate for both pediatric and adult patients due to its frequent relapse. To elucidate the bioenergetic principle underlying AML relapse, we investigated the transcriptional regulation of mitochondrial–nuclear dual genomes responsible for metabolic plasticity in treatment-resistant blasts. Both the gain and loss of function results demonstrated that NFκB2, a noncanonical transcription factor (TF) of the NFκB (nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells) family, can control the expression of TFAM (mitochondrial transcription factor A), which is known to be essential for metabolic biogenesis. Furthermore, genetic tracking and promoter assays revealed that NFκB2 is in the mitochondria and can bind the specific “TTGGGGGGTG” region of the regulatory D-loop domain to activate the light-strand promoter (LSP) and heavy-strand promoter 1 (HSP1), promoters of the mitochondrial genome. Based on our discovery of NFκB2′s novel function of regulating mitochondrial–nuclear dual genomes, we explored a novel triplet therapy including inhibitors of NFκB2, tyrosine kinase, and mitochondrial ATP synthase that effectively eliminated primary AML blasts with mutations of the FMS-related receptor tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) and displayed minimum toxicity to control cells ex vivo. As such, effective treatments for AML must include strong inhibitory actions on the dual genomes mediating metabolic plasticity to improve leukemia prognosis.

Candida nivariensis is emerging as a highly resistant species of the Candida glabrata complex causing invasive and mucocutaneous infections. In this study, three cases of vulvovaginal candidiasis caused by C. nivariensis are described and identified by Internal Transcribed Spacer 1–2 sequencing. All isolates were susceptible in vitro to anidulafungin, micafungin, caspofungin, 5-flucytosine, posaconazole, voriconazole, itraconazole, amphotericin B, and showed dose-dependent susceptibility to fluconazole. In two patients, three doses of oral fluconazole were effective, while one patient developed clinical fluconazole resistance with a new relapse after 6 months. Increasing the weekly dose of fluconazole showed to be effective in this patient.

Prior to the next generation sequencing and characterization of the tumor genome landscape, mutations in the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex and the KEAP1-NRF2 signaling pathway were underappreciated. While these two classes of mutations appeared to independently contribute to tumor development, recent reports have demonstrated a mechanistic link between these two regulatory mechanisms in specific cancer types and cell models. In this work, we expand upon these data by exploring the relationship between mutations in BAF and PBAF subunits of the SWI/SNF complex and activation of NRF2 signal transduction across many cancer types. ARID1A/B mutations were strongly associated with NRF2 transcriptional activity in head and neck squamous carcinomas (HNSC). Many additional tumor types showed significant association between NRF2 signaling and mutation of specific components of the SWI/SNF complex. Different effects of BAF and PBAF mutations on the polarity of NRF2 signaling were observed. Overall, our results support a context-dependent functional link between SWI/SNF and NRF2 mutations across human cancers and implicate ARID1A inactivation in HPV-negative HNSC in promoting tumor progression and survival through activation of the KEAP1-NRF2 signaling pathway. The tumor-specific effects of these mutations open a new area of study for how mutations in the KEAP1-NRF2 pathway and the SWI/SNF complex contribute to cancer.

Syzygium zeylanicum (L.) DC. (SZL) has long been used as a traditional remedy for diabetes, but its underlying mechanisms of action remain unknown. This study aimed to investigate the antidiabetic activity of SZL polyphenols (SZL_EAF) via anti-hyperglycemic effect, regulation of gene expression related to lipid metabolism, glucose uptake and glucose utilization, and the gut microbiome modulation in diabetic zebrafish models. The results revealed that SZL_EAF exhibited a significant anti-hyperglycemic effect after five days of treatment. It also effectively regulated the expression of genes such as Acetyl-CoA carboxylase 1 (ACC1), Sodium–glucose cotransporters (SGLT1), and Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) in diabetic zebrafish models. Additionally, SZL_EAF exhibited anti-pathogenic properties, promoted probiotics under hyperglycemic conditions, and restored the gut microbiome of diabetic zebrafish to normal levels. Overall, our finding indicated that SZL_EAF alleviates diabetes by reducing the blood glucose level, regulating the expression of diabetes-related genes, and restoring the gut microbiota.

Abstract Background Point-of-care testing (POCT) using rapid diagnostic tests for infectious disease can potentially guide appropriate use of antimicrobials, reduce antimicrobial resistance, and economise use of healthcare resources. POCT implementation in private retail settings such as pharmacies and drug shops could lessen the burden on public healthcare. We performed a narrative review on studies of POCTs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), and explored uptake, impact on treatment, and feasibility of implementation. Methods We searched MEDLINE/PubMed for interventional studies on the implementation of POCT for infectious diseases performed by personnel in private retail settings. Data were extracted and analysed by two independent reviewers. Results Of the 848 studies retrieved, 23 were included in the review. Studies were on malaria (19/23), malaria and pneumonia (3/23) or respiratory tract infection (1/23). Nine randomised controlled studies, four controlled, non-randomised studies, five uncontrolled interventions, one interventional pre-post study, one cross-over interventional study and three retrospective analyses of RCTs were included. Study quality was poor. Overall, studies showed that POCT can be implemented successfully, leading to improvements in appropriate treatment as measured by outcomes like adherence to treatment guidelines. Despite some concerns by health workers, customers and shop providers were welcoming of POCT implementation in private retail settings. Main themes that arose from the review included the need for well-structured training with post-training certification covering guidelines for test-negative patients, integrated waste management, community sensitization and demand generation activities, financial remuneration and pricing schemes for providers, and formal linkage to healthcare and support. Conclusion Our review found evidence that POCT can be implemented successfully in private retail settings in LMICs, but comprehensive protocols are needed. High-quality randomised studies are needed to understand POCTs for infectious diseases other than malaria.

In the digital age and technological advancements, short video platforms have become essential tools for online sales and marketing. In addition, shopping through short video marketing has gained significant attention, especially among Generation Z, as it brings unique and novel shopping experiences. The primary goal of this study is to explore the factors of short video marketing that influence the purchase intentions of Generation Z consumers in Vietnam. To conduct this study, a quantitative approach was employed, utilizing a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire administered online through a non-probability sampling method. The sample comprised 350 respondents aged between 16 and 26 from Vietnam, representing Generation Z, who made purchases through short video marketing. The relationships among various variables were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The study’s results demonstrated a positive, significant, and direct relationship between all factors of short video marketing, including interesting content, perceived usefulness, scenario-based experience, user interaction, perceived enjoyment, and involvement of celebrities and consumer brand attitude. Among these factors, perceived usefulness is the most influential factor on customer brand attitude. In addition, the study revealed that consumer brand attitude, acting as a mediating variable, had a positive and significant impact on consumers’ purchase intentions. Based on the findings, the study suggested strategies for businesses to enhance the quality and content on short video platforms, thereby improving the effectiveness of their marketing strategies. Abstract Introduction The fourth outbreak of COVID-19 with the delta variant in Vietnam was very fierce due to the limited availability of vaccines and the lack of healthcare resources. During that period, the high mortality of patients with severe and critical COVID-19 caused many concerns for the health system, especially the intensive care units. This study aimed to analyze the predictive factors of death and survival in patients with severe and critical COVID-19. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional and descriptive study on 151 patients with severe and critical COVID-19 hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of Binh Duong General Hospital. Results Common clinical symptoms of severe and critical COVID-19 included shortness of breath (97.4%), fatigue (89.4%), cough (76.8%), chest pain (47.7%), loss of smell (48.3%), loss of taste (39.1%), and headache (21.2%). The abnormal biochemical features were leukopenia (2.1%), anemia, thrombocytopenia (18%), hypoxia with low PaO2 (34.6%), hypocapnia with reduced PaCO2 (29.6%), and blood acidosis (18.4%). Common complications during hospitalization were septic shock (15.2%), cardiogenic shock (5.3%), and embolism (2.6%). Abstract Syzygium zeylanicum L. (DC) (SZL) has been used in antidiabetes treatment for ages. However, the scientific evidence of active agents that have antidiabetic activity and response against biological activities is limited. In this study, the active components of SZL trunk‐bark extract (SZL extract) were identified using principal component analysis (PCA), and their antidiabetic activities were assessed. The results indicated that the ethyl acetate fraction (EAF) had the highest concentration of phenolic compounds, antioxidants, and antihyperglycemic activities in the postprandial zebrafish model. The major antioxidant contributors were gallic acid, catechin, epicatechin, ellagic acid, quercetin, caffeine, and apigenin, and their concentrated levels reduced α‐amylase inhibitory activity, whereas rutin and ethyl gallate influenced the α‐glucosidase inhibitory activity. This study showed the bio‐functional properties of active phenolic compounds present in the SZL extract, potentially serving as a functional food to control hyperglycemia.

Abstract Patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) usually suffer from post-acute sequelae of coronavirus disease 2019 (PASC). Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) has the most significant long-term impact on patients’ respiratory health, called post-COVID-19 pulmonary fibrosis (PC19-PF). PC19- PF can be caused by acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) or pneumonia due to COVID-19. The risk factors of PC19-PF, such as older age, chronic comorbidities, the use of mechanical ventilation during the acute phase, and female sex, should be considered. Individuals with COVID-19 pneumonia symptoms lasting at least 12 weeks following diagnosis, including cough, dyspnea, exertional dyspnea, and poor saturation, accounted for nearly all disease occurrences. PC19-PF is characterized by persistent fibrotic tomographic sequelae associated with functional impairment throughout follow-up. Thus, clinical examination, radiology, pulmonary function tests, and pathological findings should be done to diagnose PC19-PF patients. PFT indicated persistent limitations in diffusion capacity and restrictive physiology, despite the absence of previous testing and inconsistency in the timeliness of assessments following acute illness. It has been hypothesized that PC19-PF patients may benefit from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis treatment to prevent continued infection-related disorders, enhance the healing phase, and manage fibroproliferative processes. Immunomodulatory agents might reduce inflammation and the length of mechanical ventilation during the acute phase of COVID-19 infection, and the risk of the PC19-PF stage. Pulmonary rehabilitation, incorporating exercise training, physical education, and behavioral modifications, can improve the physical and psychological conditions of patients with PC19-PF.

Abstract This study investigates a cantilever-based pressure sensor that can achieve a resolution of approximately 0.2 mPa, over the frequency range of 0.1–250 Hz. A piezoresistive cantilever with ultra-high acoustic compliance is used as the sensing element in the proposed pressure sensor. We achieved a cantilever with a sensitivity of approximately 40 times higher than that of the previous cantilever device by realizing an ultrathin (340 nm thick) structure with large pads and narrow hinges. Based on the measurement results, the proposed pressure sensor can measure acoustic signals with frequencies as low as 0.1 Hz. The proposed pressure sensor can be used to measure low-frequency pressure and sound, which is crucial for various applications, including photoacoustic-based gas/chemical sensing and monitoring of physiological parameters and natural disasters. We demonstrate the measurement of heart sounds with a high SNR of 58 dB. We believe the proposed microphone will be used in various applications, such as wearable health monitoring, monitoring of natural disasters, and realization of high-resolution photoacoustic-based gas sensors. We successfully measured the first (S1) and second (S2) cardiac sounds with frequencies of 7–100 Hz and 20–45 Hz, respectively.
