Descripció del recurs: 21 juliol 2022 Future design is a pedagogical project to introduce the studies and methodologies of the future at university. It has been offered to students of the Master Barcelona Design (MBDesign) since 2017 and this book is nothing more than a compilation of notes, instructions, and exercises for the classes, developed and improved over 5 editions of the course. The compilation of the cases presented as well as the proposals and exercises to be worked on has been conceived as a tool to support the practice of the discipline known as futures intelligence, futures studies or simply futures. The content focuses on the field of design and aims to facilitate innovation. The proposed methodology tries to combine a certain academic approach with the application of techniques and methods for the study of a field of work in which each student’s design project is situated.

Tourism is not only a source of wealth, but also a positive way of knowing and mixing local and foreign cultures. However, overexploitation of natural resources and inadequate behaviours (among other factors) can lead to a conflict between tourists and locals that makes the tourist economy not sustainable. The modelling of tourist flows is a good tool to face and overcome this problem, looking for the balance between natural and socioeconomic re- sources, the interests and rights of tourists and locals. This paper proposes a mathematical model of nonlinear differential equations, which allows to study the dynamic interaction between the main factors that affect the tourist flows of Barcelona. We have used non-linear Ordinary Differential Equations to represent the interactions between residents, tourists and investors. Politi- cal/economic decisions and geopolitical factors have been added as external forces. Specific aspects of Barcelona have been taken into account, such as the impos- sibility of extending the city, the lack of regulation (and excessive regulation), the affluence of investors and the increase in prices (which pressures residents outside from the city) Our results show that sustainability, that is, the positive values of the popu- lation of tourists, locals and investors, in the long run is possible under the appropriate economic and social decisions.

El proyecto INMARSIS ha desarrollado y desplegado un equipo marino anclado que suministra datos sísmicos en tiempo real. El sistema se basa en un sismómetro submarino, una boya de superficie y un cable de amarre que los conecta. El despliegue del sistema en el entorno marino ha demosntrado que la comunicación inductiva a través del mismo cable de amarre es una solución económica, segura y flexible. Antes de testear el equipo en el mar, se ha simulado la dinámica del sistema numéricamente para encontrar los materiales, cables, boyas y conexiones óptimos en condiciones marinas críticas. El sismómetro del proyecto es un geófono de banda ancha triaxial de alta sensibilidad que adquiere señales de baja vibración para medir episodios sísmicos submarinos. La energía necesaria para alimentar la boya de superficie y el equipo subacuático se obtiene de paneles solares, así como baterías adicionales. Se presentan los resultados y la detección de un terremoto del prototipo que demuestra la viabilidad del proyecto. El sismómetro transmite datos continuos mediante un radioenlace en la boya de superficie.

In this paper we present the current status of a marine seismometer to be deployed in the Alboran Sea in September 2016. The design consists of a seafloor unit and a surface buoy connected by a cable. This design pretends to be an alternative to OBS (Ocean Bottom Seismometer) in shallow waters (depth < 500 m). In contrast to OBS, a physical connection between the seafloor unit and the surface buoy allows real time data processing and offshore communication. Even though an umbilical cable seems to be the more obvious alternative, the low energetic consumption of the seafloor unit and the recent improvements in inductive communications open a very interesting new possibility using steel cables.

The integration of marine sensors systems into marine observation platforms such as gliders, cabled observatories and smart buoys require a great deal of effort due to the lack of standardization and diversity of architectures used in marine technologies. The NeXOS project addresses this issue proposing the adoption of the SEISI architecture (Smart Electronic Interface for Sensor Interoperability). This paper presents a case of use of this architecture, integrating the A1 Hydrophone developed within the NeXOS into a Smart Buoy using the OGC Sensor Web Enablement framework.

A new Data Acquisition and Operation System for Oceanographic ships and Instrumentation Networks has been developed by the Marine Technology Unit of the Spanish Research Vessels for their networked remote acquisition platforms. The new system built over LABVIR project background follows a Service Oriented Architecture to allow expandable access to acquired data in real time and to archived data. Several Data layers are implemented to allow data access from the more common tools and formats used in marine sciences.

This work describes the development of a monitoring system for vessels from the Marine Technology Unit (UTM) of the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) and draws on the graph capabilities and the potential access to remote data that is offered by Google Earth and the new satellite data transmission capabilities installed on-board. Performance analysis is carried out at several critical points of the system, in terms of data processing and networking. This development is a product of a more ambitious acquisition project that deals with the modeling and acquisition of oceanographic data led by a working group at the UTM and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. This system, with minor variations in implementation, can be adopted to monitor a greater number of mobile units while at the same time remain sufficiently flexible to be used as a didactic teaching tool for schools and universities

Esta investigación se centra en Colombia y en cómo el éxodo a las principales ciudades ha desencadenado consecuencias en los territorios urbanos y rurales. La migración de jóvenes a la ciudad incrementa el crecimiento urbano acelerado y vacía el campo. Para frenar este constante movimiento migratorio, es necesario pensar en nuevas oportunidades para los territorios rurales. Hoy en día, el nivel de desarrollo digital en las zonas rurales es insuficiente,es por esto que esta propuesta busca proveer al campo de herramientas para minimizar el impacto de la migración voluntaria e incentivar el retorno al campo. Útica es un territorio ubicado en el municipio de Cundinamarca Colombia, donde se evidencian señales de falta de oportunidades debido a la presencia de escuelas abandonadas, pirámides poblacionales regresivas, falta de relevo generacional, entre otras. Uno de los problemas encontrados en la zona rural de Útica es la conectividad en el territorio. El acceso a internet en los hogares está poco extendido debido a la falta de infraestructura, lo que genera un vacío de conocimiento sobre herramientas digitales y vuelve inviable oportunidades globales como estudiar o trabajar a larga distancia. Ilika Rural Network es un proyecto de nodos distribuidos en el territorio que conforman una red descentralizada que lleva el servicio de internet a la zona rural de Útica. Para acceder a esta red es necesario instalar un nodo y querer ser parte de una red colaborativa. El nodo es un espacio de trabajo equipado con la tecnología necesaria para estar conectado al sistema que provee el servicio de internet. Cada nodo tiene la capacidad de conectarse a internet y de compartir el servicio con sus vecinos inmediatos. The research focuses on the case of migration in Colombian and how the rural exodus to main cities has caused consequences in both territories. The migration of young people increases the attraction factors of the urbanisation process in the cities. To stop the volunteer migration of the young, it is necessary to think about new opportunities for them in rural areas. Nowadays, rural populations do not have access to the new digital developments that could directly increase their economic growth. That is why the main objective of this proposal is to provide tools to develop communications and technology in the rural areas to minimise the impact of the city’s voluntary migration and increase the return to the countryside. Utica is a territory located in the Cundinamarca’s department in Colombia and it's a place where the abandonment of the countryside is evident because of the low opportunities for their habitants. As a consequence, there are empty rural schools, a regressive population pyramid, lack of children, and so on. The deficiency of the connectivity field was also one of the main problems to the rural population in Utica. The at-home Internet in the rural areas is unusual because of the underdevelopment of the infrastructures. Consequently, the lack of knowledge about ITCs is clearly visible, the access to educational tools is impossible and online work can not even be considered. Ilika rural network is a project of distributing nodes in the territory that create a network to bring the internet service to Utica´s rural area. To access it is necessary to install a node and be part of the collaborative network. The node is a working space that is equipped with the technology devices needed to be connected with the WIMAX technology system that provides the internet in the territory. The personal node offers a working space that you can customise using the kit elements. Each node has the capacity to be connected to the internet service and to share the service.

Under the trend of intensive and refined land use and with the popularity of graffiti culture, this paper attempts to find strategies for using graffiti culture as a medium for renewing negative urban spaces. In my final work of master, I have produced the following main outputs. 1Collated and analyzed the development of graffiti culture 2Organized and analyzed the relevant points of negative public space in the city 3Conducted interviews with graffiti artists and curators 4Conducted a questionnaire survey on public participation in graffiti exhibitions 5Conducted an interactive graffiti exhibition design. In my design, I not only curated the exhibition, but also made micro-renewals to the urban space, such as adding a sunken plaza and a skate park. 6Graffiti exhibitions are representative and adaptable, and can be widely used in various regions and countries. The exhibition frame can be 3D printed and made of light concrete, a cheap material, to achieve good results and can be recycled repeatedly. The public participation perspective of various civic cultural activities is a good medium to activate I believe that in the near future, more and more regions will start graffiti exhibitions outdoors to drive urban vitality.

Context. En l'època actual, és de vital importància transitar cap a futurs afirmatius i de vida. Hi ha amplis esforços per actualitzar el sistema actual tal que sigui menys perjudicial per al planeta i nosaltres mateixos. Tot i això, les disciplines emergents en transicions de sistemes reconeixen que no n'hi ha prou, i que, de fet, necessitem nous models integrals de pensament i comportament. L'especulació i les arts en són els més grans contribuents, però encara en calen molts més: les transicions s'han de fer al món real, amb diversos agents i en espais on es pugui experimentar, com els living labs. Objectiu de la recerca. Sent conscient que els living labs sovint fallen en comportar-se segons la seva definició i limiten la innovació, la finalitat d'aquest treball és proposar un marc per introduir la necessitat d'innovar a diferents nivells (tecnològicament, socialment, i en mentalitats), amb especial atenció a les visions del món. Això ho presento com a essencial per la confiança entre diversos agents, que és un dels problemes més presents i reconeguts en els living labs. Metodologia. Aquest treball utilitza diversos mètodes: des de síntesi teòrica a pràctiques de recerca auto-etnogràfiques en disciplines com la sociologia, el disseny i la filosofia (occidental i indígena). A través re raonament abductiu i validacions a través de converses, es desenvolupa un model per incentivar diàlegs autoreflexius cap a maneres de ser postantropocèntriques i posthumanes. Proposta clau. Es mostra un joc iteratiu per iniciar converses individuals i col·lectives que permetin guanyar consciència de la visió del món d'un mateix. El joc de reflexió inclou una col·lecció de contes amb diverses visions del món i 16 cartes que animen a la reflexió i a emmirallar-se en les teves pròpies ontologies. A més, també inclou la plantilla d'una cartografia per guiar discussions col·lectives sobre les reflexions personals. Background. In current times, it is of vital importance to transition into new futures of affirmation and life. Broad efforts are in place to come up with upgrades in the current system to become less harmful to the planet and ourselves. But the emerging disciplines of system transitions acknowledge it is not enough and we, in fact, are in need of integral new models of doing and thinking. Speculation and arts are the main contributors, yet more contributions are needed: transitions must be set up in the playing field, in multi-stakeholder and experimental spaces such as living labs (LLs). Research aims. Aware living labs often fail to act by their definition and limit their innovations, the aim is to propose a framework to introduce the need for multilevel innovation (technology, society, and mindsets) with a special focus on worldviews. This is presented and argued as a keystone for trust, which is a broad and acknowledged issue within LLs. Methodology. This work has employed mixed methods, from theoretical synthesis to autoethnography research practices in disciplines such as sociology, design and (western and indigenous) philosophy. Through abductive reasoning and conversation-based validations, a model to arise self-reflection dialogues towards postanthropocentric and posthuman ways of being in living labs is developed. Key proposal. An iterative conversation-starter game for individual and collective worldview awareness is proposed. This reflection game includes a collection of multi-worldview short stories and 16 call-to-reflection question cards that call to mirror to participants' ontologies. Also, a cartography template is included to guide collective discussions about people’s own reflections.

China is a country with a long history, and the traditional Chinese art of papercutting was born out of the accumulation of history. It carries people's hope for a better life and is a way to spread Chinese culture. Because of this, if Chinese paper-cutting can be reasonably used in graphic design, it will provide designers with new ideas. In today's diversified world, it is obvious that modern Chinese graphic design is influenced by various countries, leading to the proliferation of international visual symbols and the gradual loss of the traditional Chinese visual language. How to design works with traditional humanistic flavor and contemporary characteristics has become a new thinking for designers. What is traditional paper-cutting? What is the significance of Chinese folk paper-cutting for graphic design? How can the colors of Chinese folk paper-cutting be applied in modern graphic design?

Tomando en cuenta los beneficios que trae el cobre como metal y sus vastas aleaciones registradas en la EPA, mi proyecto propone revivir la materialidad poética del cobre y dentro de este gesto como concepto lineal de base, desarrollar una colección de herrajes para puertas, específicamente manijas customizadas que contribuyan a satisfacer las necesidades sanitarias y sociales de los consumidores. Esta se instalaría en todos los accesos de un edificio cultural de Barcelona, tanto en sus accesos exteriores como interiores. Las manijas son un elemento decorativo que a menudo se pasa por alto, por lo que la intención paralela de este proyecto, es realizar una conexión entre el atractivo natural del cobre, revivirlo como material y a su vez, presentar un concepto de diseño de manijas poco tradicional que permita atribuirle la importancia que se merece.

This paper is an exploration of meditation and architectural design methodology, based on the author's critique of the crisis of materialism and pragmatism in contemporary Chinese architecture. Starting from the theories of art, aesthetics, psychology, philosophy and other related "architecture and spatial context" and combining with data analysis, this paper designs a meditative space to guide people's thinking and summarizes a theory of architectural design. First of all, the author argues the current state of the material crisis in contemporary Chinese architecture and draws out the problem to start thinking about solutions. Then by vertically comparing ancient China and showing case studies, it is argued that light plays an important role in the creation of spatial moods. Preliminary design are proposed through field research combined with the influence of light on people, architectural space and context in the previous paper. Then the author argues that color diversity plays an important role in the creation of spatial mood by comparing European countries (Spain) with case studies, and then the author makes a questionnaire survey and analyzes data in order to find the effect of different colors on human emotions. Finally, through the field research on the color of light inside the space, combined with the influence of light and color on people, architectural space and mood in the previous article, the author proposes the final design.

The master thesis contains a view on the future of commerce. Emergence of mixed reality technology seems to be potential in many sectors, therefore this thesis analyzes its implication in retail. The thesis entails various topics regarding current situation of shopping and development of mixed reality technology. Afterwards a design for a mixed reality system is proposed to test out the technology's feasibility in the retail industry.

A través de referencias artísticas y tecnológicas, se analiza el concepto de inmersión y su relación con el lenguaje presente en los nuevos medios: Realidad Virtual, Aumentada o el concepto de Metaverso. Estos, se relacionan en el documento, buscando el hacer conscientes a diseñadores y tecnólogos de la necesidad de desarrollar un lenguaje propio para estos nuevos medios, de cara a evitar la Infoxicación y la Hiporealidad. Para ello, como concusión final, se propone una narrativa, y un producto en el marco del diseño especulativo y ficticio. Through artistic and technological references, the concept of immersion is analysed, as well as its relationship with the language present in New Media: Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, the Metaverse... The document seek to bring awareness to designers and technologists of the need to develop the own language for these new media, in order to avoid Infoxication and Hypo-reality. To this end, as a final conclusion, a narrative and a product are proposed within the framework of Speculative and Design Fiction. Award-winning

The master thesis mainly researched three topics: digital creative workshop, role-driven creativity, and gamification. After extensive research, the graduate found that all these three elements can be integrated together in a way that benefits each other. Ostory is the digital creative workshop where creative team members (internal or external) can complete individual and group tasks while being immersed with the game experience with increasing fun and engagement. The end result is a valuable creative outcome that provides insights for the actual creative challenge the team is working on.

Given the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic and the ensuing obligatory usage of face masks, the number of used face masks being dumped in the environment, landfills and incineration sites has become a significant issue. In this project, a service-product has been proposed to enable efficient handling of used face masks with respect to the environment but also in such a way that benefits disfavored people. Therefore, the two primary objectives of this project are the reduction of environmental pollution and improvement of the living conditions of underprivileged individuals who have no place to stay. The methodology proposed to achieve these objectives consists of three main stages; the first step is mask collection, followed by recycling the masks and finally the reproduction of new product from the recycled raw materials. In the first stage, used face masks are gathered from by pharmacies through providing citizens with financial incentives. Consequently, the collected face masks are sent to recycling centers to first apply disinfection method and second extract the raw materials i.e. polypropylene, and afterwards these raw materials are sent to production centers for the production phases of proposed design. Finally, after achieving the objectives of this project, BioBuild tent has been designed and will be distributed through the use of intermediaries such as NGOs, charities and volunteers to disfavored individuals in Barcelona.

Production, usage, and disposal of plastic is one of the fundamental and global concerns and has been known as an environmental and human health issue. This research is going to disclose the possibility of using suitable waste plastic in order to improve ecosystem services. This research proposal primarily will be based on considering new innovative modules of taking advantage of discarded plastics in the scope of impact and the possibility of improving ecosystem services and increasing biodiversity. The information-gathering will refer to the literature reviews and case studies analysis and considering qualitative research in the research method. Regarding the study of the recycling process, ecological and economic loops, the circular economy will be recognized as the best approach for reusing, redesigning, and remanufacturing architectural structures that are made of waste plastics in order to improve the ecological potential of the environment via designing constructed wetlands by designers at the lowest possible cost, energy, and environmental pollution. Furthermore, the efficiency of plastic recycling processes is extremely significant in developed countries. As a result, this study attempts by increasing efficiency and eliminating the processes that will consume valuable resources, to provide an innovative method of design by taking advantage of discarded plastics through additive manufacturing, as a using material for constructing floating artificial wetlands.

InnAcrobatics és el resultat d'una recerca sobre el desenvolupament de la innovació dins la indústria del circ actual. Aquest resultat conforma una companyia que facilita el desenvolupament professional d'artistes emergents, reunint per a això els diversos experts necessaris per a dur a terme qualsevol tipus de producció circense. InnAcrobatics no només reuneix les labors d'una productora o una gestoria, sinó que també combina serveis propis d'un estudi de disseny especialitzat en el desenvolupament d'aquesta mena de produccions. Oferim eines innovadores que ens diferencien de qualsevol altre mena de companyia, com poden ser el desenvolupament de nous aparells acrobàtics i aparells vestibles o la inducció d'emocions predefinides a través de l'espai escènic. Per a mostrar el funcionament de InnAcrobatics i les seves possibilitats, prenem com a exemple el treball d'un artista de circ emergent. Ens encarreguem de treure tot el potencial dels artistes per a ajudar-los a créixer i fer-se lloc en la indústria circense. InnAcrobatics no sólo reúne las labores de una productora o una gestoría, sino que también combina servicios propios de un estudio de diseño especializado en el desarrollo de este tipo de producciones. Ofrecemos herramientas innovadoras que nos diferencian de cualquier otro tipo de compañía, como pueden ser el desarrollo de nuevos aparatos acrobáticos y aparatos vestibles o la inducción de emociones predefinidas a través del espacio escénico. Para mostrar el funcionamiento de InnAcrobatics y sus posibilidades, tomamos como ejemplo el trabajo de un artista de circo emergente. Nos encargamos de sacar todo el potencial de los artistas para ayudarles a crecer y hacerse hueco en la industria circense. Gracias a esta colaboración, los artistas podrán dedicar su labor al desarrollo de sus ideas y la búsqueda de la innovación a la vez que es asistido en todo lo necesario por un equipo de especialistas, como es InnAcrobatics. El resultado de este ejemplo de funcionamiento da lugar a la creación de un parque de atracciones acrobáticas, donde el público general podrá acceder y probar diversos aparatos vestibles de diseño propio a la vez que recibe experiencias altamente emocionales y únicas a través del mundo del circo, siendo parte del espectáculo. InnAcrobatics is the result of a research on innovation development in the present circus industry. The aforesaid result will define a company that eases the professional development of emerging artists, therefore we gather the diverse experts required to carry out any type of circus production. InnAcrobatics puts together not only the labor of a production company or a business consultancy, but also combines the services offered by a design studio specialized in the development of circus productions. In addition, we also provide innovative tools such as the invention of new acrobatic apparatuses and wearable apparatuses or the emotional management of the spectator through the stage space. In order to show how InnAcrobatics works and its possibilities, we will illustrate it with an example of an emerging circus artist’s work. We take charge of making the potential of their ideas grow as well as we help them out to find their spotlight in the circus industry. Thanks to this collaboration, these circus artists will be able to spend their labor completely in developing their ideas and looking for circus innovation while they are assisted by our specialists about anything they need, just like InnAcrobatics does. The result of this operational exemplification gives room to the creation of an acrobatic fairground where the general public can access to try wearable apparatuses by themselves at the same time they receive highly emotional and unique experiences through the circus world, being part of the spectacle.

Collecting, sorting, recycling, and selling materials that someone else no longer wants help millions of people living around the world. We could consider that they're helping to extract recyclable materials and re-usable objects from among the urban solid waste, reduce huge amounts of wasted resources go to landfill center which reduce the pollution as well. In Barcelona, thousands of informal trash pickers work in the streets, scavenging for materials and objects in the trash container without any proper personal protection, they are working under an unstable and unhealthy environment where full of fungus, bacteria, parasites, and viruses that could cause a large number of diseases and pollution. In addition, under the covid pandemic, the working environment is no longer safe, not only for waste pickers but also for all of the citizens. On the other hand, " consume-use-abandon" linear economy mindset for the citizens make huge pollution and greenhouse gas, the resources and the materials have been left without reaching end of the life cycle, " produce-sell-landfill " process causes energy waste and material waste. The project aims to facilitate the recycling process of household waste under a sanitary environment and improve informal trash pickers working environment, as well as help them blend into society. Complete the shortcomings of the existing linear economy process, provide a service to achieve a circular economy and sustainable future.

In this research, the importance of having quality public spaces in urban architecture and their significant impact on social capital has been discussed. Tehran city has been studied with an analytical approach and the reasons for the lack of good quality social places in Tehran have been stated. The cultural and historical potential of Iranian architecture and the existence of such spaces in Tehran have also been discussed. In the following, the promenade elements are explained and the method of urban acupuncture is studied and considered as a solution to solve the problem of urban architecture in Tehran and ''Niavaran'', one of the neighbourhoods of ​​Tehran is considered as a context for designing these social places of Promenade. This neighbourhood has been investigated in terms of urban architecture and the socio-cultural relations of its citizens. Using the architectural and cultural potential of Iran and considering the social needs of the city, a design including a promenade element for creation in the ''Niavaran'' neighbourhood of ​​Tehran has been presented. Efforts have been made to make this project a suitable example for use in urban acupuncture to create places of this type in Tehran.

It's not easy to define "air pollution." It may be argued that air pollution originated when humanity began to burn fossil fuels. If the natural environment is regarded as "clean," it means that clean air is hard to come by in today's environment. In other terms, air pollution refers to all man-made (anthropogenic) emissions into tatmosphere climateate change and air pollution are two sides of the same coin. Several lines of scientific evidence show that the climate is changing as a result of human activity. Significant advancements in our understanding of historical, current, and potential future developments should lead to robust, well-informed responsibility. A modular system to improve the city's air quality is being built using a systemic design and a point solution meant for a single purpose. To change the way architecture is used, this methodology is essential. I feel the concept of pixelating design boundaries is gaining acceptance, but it still has a long way to go before it fullyly adopted in a developing country. The ability of Urban Air Filteration to provide residents with recognition by interacting with them throughout the da, and a repeating pattern based on the accumulation of pollution would create awareness and connect different levels of people with various jobs to recognize that they can no longer be passive about this issue.

Buying digital products through online media is getting more popular every day and, many services are expanding to digital media. The learning curve and adaptation for customers used to traditional channels (face-to-face) is evolving and improving, creating an opportunity to adapt it to new technologies, as virtual and augmented reality. Nowadays, generating virtual spaces is almost exclusive to designers and architects, being a more specialized field. If we simplified this process, users could be part of this process, regarding their expertise. With a prospective view, the new generations will become the real-estate market potential customers, with more affinity and knowledge about 3D simulations and virtual reality. If we searched the news about VR 10 years ago, we barely find information about the topic. Nowadays, extended reality is a thing. We can find a vast number of services and products, with the technology being more accessible every day, where even smartphones can process this kind of features. After the pandemics, XR has seen a considerable increase in its popularity. More business has been expanding their services into digital and online alternatives, like museums or concerts. Some authors, like Robert Scoble in his book "The Fourth Transformation: How Augmented Reality & Artificial Intelligence Will Change Everything." set the idea that soon smartphones would become obsolete, being XR devices our principal connectivity device.

Constant efforts have been made to improve access, and quality of healthcare in the United States, still the nation's health system has been distinguished by increasing costs, and the prevalence, and rise in the number of chronic disease cases. In comparison to the general public, medically underserved populations (MUPs) such as the homeless, the uninsured, undocumented immigrants, ethnic minorities, and those living in rural settings, often have poorer health outcomes, and face more barriers when accessing medical services. This work proposes a self-service integrated delivery system (IDS), comprised of hardware, and software components, that aim to increase access for all through the provision, and integration of primary, secondary, and tertiary medical services, providers, and other stakeholders. Durant la darrera dècada s'ha començat un procés de revaluació de les qüestions plantejades pels artistes i dissenyadors alemanys de la postguerra que intentaven crear un nou paradigma per construir monuments amb una perspectiva postmoderna. Amb un especial interès en els monuments LGBTQ+ a Europa, aquest projecte busca definir els principis d’un “disseny queer” i com es podrien implementar en projectes amb la intenció de revitalitzar el ‘Gaixample’ – un barri històricament ocupat per la comunitat gai a l'Eixample de Barcelona. Treballant a partir de l'arquitectura visionària i l’antidisseny, s’intenta crear una sèrie de “monuments moderns a la diversitat”. Tres possibles visions del disseny (Dissenyador com a Creador, Dissenyador com a Provocador, Dissenyador com a Catalitzador) donen origen a sis intervencions de disseny urbà que interactuen amb la història i l’experiència LGBTQ+. Es diu que el monument modern és una paradoxa i les tendències del pensament contemporani disminueixen la necessitat d’aquestes estructures, però l’objectiu de Queer Erections és posar de manifest la importància d’aquests monuments per a la societat contemporània. In the last decade, we have started to re-examine the questions posed by Post-War German artists and designers as they looked toward a new standard of building monuments with a post-modern perspective. With a special look at LGBTQ+ Monuments in Europe, this project looks to define principles of “queer design” and how to apply them to projects meant to reinvigorate Gaixample – an historically gay neighborhood in Barcelona’s Eixample district. Using Visionary Architecture and Anti-Design as starting points, the aim is to create a series of “modern monuments to diversity”. Three possible approaches to design (Designer as Creator, Designer as Provocateur, Designer as Catalyst) lead to six urban design interventions which engage with LGBTQ+ history and experiences. It is said that a modern monument is a paradox, and the prevailing winds are pushing back on the need for such structures, but the aim of Queer Erections to showcase how valuable monuments can be in contemporary society.

The objective of this thesis was to improve the user experience when working collaboratively by understanding the best approaches in three main areas: Innovation Through Collaborative Work (ITCW), User Experience Design (UXD) and Gamification Elements (GE). The study was developed based on academic research, a questionnaire, and market analysis. The main hypothesis was that a gamified perspective would enhance the users’ engagement with their projects and with the platform itself. The research considered gamification as a possible additional element as long as preserved an effective approach to the user experience design and to innovation methodologies. Literature has pointed out how collaboration is highly efficient to optimize the efforts and the resources in order to achieve innovative results. Efficient User Experience Design applied in online platforms allows people to work together and more effectively from anywhere in the world. Additionally, the authors validated that applying Gamification Elements presents good results when engaging users and teams. A questionnaire was sent to users that represented a specific target audience. Answers were collected from 68 people from 12 countries. Among the results, users pointed problems commonly found when using collaborative platforms, such as fragmented tools spread through different websites, difficulties when finding relevant coworkers and lack of engagement. In the market analysis, 50 collaborative platforms were evaluated. There were considered and graded elements from each main area, ITCW, UXD and GE. The results show an unbalanced relation of the three areas and a very weak gamified approach in most part of the platforms, which can be considered as an opportunity to be explored in the market. As a conclusion, the concept of a gamified Collaborative Innovation Network named COLINN was developed considering all highlights and analyses. This design aims to offer a diverse environment to users to collaborate and thrive at the same it has a visually appealing interface that both engage and entertain users. The next step would be the construction.

Museum architecture has always been recieving considerable attention from art and architecture commnunities due to its exclusive culture, history, and artistry. The circulation design discussed in this paper and is an exploration of architectural design methodology, based on the author's criticism of contemporary museum architecture's spatial order chaos, illogical spatial organization, and excessive attention on form. This paper intends to intergate circulation, space togather with Classical Chinese Garden art under the same stopic. The relevant theories of art, philosophy, aesthetics, and psychology are applied as well, with a large number of design cases from various countries being cited in hope to summarize the designoriented architectural design theory. Space is both the main body of the architecture,and the carrier for people to live in while nourishing the people. Therefore, the architectural space should not be talked alone without caring the nature. In conclusion, this paper aims to provide a new mindset for future museum design, hoping to achieve rational design arrangement, considering the relationship between space, circulation and people.

With the development of Internet technology, digital health has been actively developed. It is particularly prominent in young people's mental health because the digital natives are a generation that grows up with the Internet. Online psychotherapy is still in the development stage, where is no clear standard and age limit in the market, but there are also plenty of opportunities. This project looks at the future and believes the digital health APP will focus more on specific ages and mental illnesses. In this context, First, we choose 15-19 years old people as the potential user group of this project because they are in a particular period of cognitive plasticity and deserve more attention. Then we chose online cooperation games as a way to design because gamification design is compatible with CBT(Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and online cooperation can give users a sense of electronic intimacy. Based on these two points, we have designed a supplementary APP for young people aged 15-19, so that they can use it when they deal with mental health problems. This APP is not to replace the role of psychotherapy doctors but as an auxiliary service to help them reduce their loneliness during therapy, increase their sense of normality, and provide more positive information exchanges. We call it LIGHT UP.

Of all the domestic spaces, the kitchen has become the most aggregating and inclusive, passing from mere cooking space to family roundups spot. So, also the way people uses it changed and from this change results a modification in layout, features and technologies. In order to keep the pace of this changes, designers should upgrade and implement the way they actually design kitchens, taking advantage of new available techniques and means. This research means to explore the new methodologies and tools that insiders are going to use in the next ten years, how these will influence their work flow. The first part will be conducted as a research about how the kitchen has changed and how it will depending on social values and popular culture, state of the art domestic appliances, cooking techniques and globalization. In the second part will explore deeply the parametric design topic, taking as study case the developing a functioning space optimizer using Rhino, Grasshopper and Galapagos.

In order to innovation to occur, a collective creative process need to be successful. More than ever, with the exponential increase of knowledge is very hard to solve complex problems individually, so finding ways to enhance collaboration is crucial to create a innovative community. This project focused on how technology can help solve the main challenges of collaboration: trust and connection. To deal with this problem we chose Blockchain, that is a relative new Technology that been transforming P2P transactions in the last 10 years, and have as pillars decentralization and immutability. Based in this two characteristics we propose a transparent and trusty platform for sharing ideas and connecting people, called Idea Flow. A user friendly interface to storage the creative process in progress on an immutable decentralized ledger. This solution achieve the objective of building a network of creative professionals, organize the participation of individuals and guarantee the ownership of the data generated in the process. Mais do que nunca, com o aumento exponencial do conhecimento é muito difícil resolver problemes complexos individualmente, então encontrar maneiras de melhorar a colaboração é crucial para criar uma comunidade inovadora. Este projeto se concentrou em como a tecnologia pode ajudar a resolver os principais desafios da colaboração: confiança e conexão. Para lidar com esse problema escolhemos o Blockchain, que é uma tecnologia relativamente nova que vem transformando transações P2P nos últimos 10 anos, e tem como pilares a descentralização e a imutabilidade. Com base nessas duas características, propomos uma plataforma transparente e confiável para compartilhar idéias e conectar pessoas, chamada Idea Flow. Uma interface amigável para armazenar o processo criativo em andamento em um ledger descentralizado imutável. Esta solução atinge o objetivo de construir uma rede de profissionais criativos, organizar a participação dos indivíduos e garantir a propriedade dos dados gerados no processo.

Treball desenvolupat en el marc del programa "European Project Semester". Developments of laser products require deep analysis and proper measurements especially on the properties of the material used to ensure the best outcome of the products. The European Project Semester (EPS) this year involved the Handling System for Laser Components Project. This project was introduced by a laser diode company named Monocrom which is situated in Vilanova I La Geltru. The task given to the team is to design a handling system for the laser components between phases 030 to 050 and 050 to 060, improvements in the traceability, ease of handling the component, optimizing the handling components in the manufacturing flow by keeping its main features of flexibility and safety. In this report, all the details about the company, the manufacturing flow, the issues and the proposed solutions are explained. It was completed by four international students from Escola Politecnica Superior d’Enginyeria Vilanova I La Geltru (EPSEVG). Thorough research was carried out about the laser diode components for the design concept of the system and the suitable materials used for implementation of various systems. In this report is detailed problems encountered by Monocrom which include the mixing of electrodes in parts of the manufacturing process, an inefficient handling system of laser components, no first in first out system (FIFO), and the inability to gold plate no more than 1 full laser stack at a time. It then goes on to explain the proposed concepts that the team created to prevent mixing up of the electrodes which was a colour coding system. It describes the frame which was invented along with a new brush with hooks that goes into the gold coating machine. The concept was to synchronise colours between the frame and the hook to improve the time efficiency in handling the components. It then details a FIFO system which was proposed to Monocrom. A letter tray was suggested to be used to organise boxes of electrodes which would improve the quality of the components. Further research was done for the colouring of the hooks. As the hooks would go into a chemical gold coating machine, a transparent coating was needed for the process since the paint could have contaminated the process Real implementation for this project is still under consideration since there are more improvements needed for the continuation of the project. Treball desenvolupat dins el marc del programa 'European Project Semester' i l'"International Design Project Semester". SARTI (Sistemas de Adquisición Remota y Tratamiento de la Información) are a research group based in Vilanova i la Geltru who are collaborating with an international team of four students for the European Project Semester 2016. The brief that has been assigned to the team is to redesign a seismic buoy, making it smaller, more compact, lightweight in order to allow for easy deployment. Seismic buoys are currently very large and consist of several different individual, but connected parts. Ocean Bottom Seismometers (OBS) are much smaller however, they do not allow for the real-time transmission of data. This was done by researching different buoys and they way that they are currently deployed. The team’s first design was evaluated and all of the advantages and disadvantages of the design was taken into account. This along with taking into account the drag coefficient enabled the team to create a design that was much improved and had more advantages. The team produced a compact design which solved many of the stated problems. However, more work by future teams will have to take place in order to finalise the finer details of this project.
