The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence and risk factors for metabolic syndrome and diabetes among young adult students.Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among students of age group (18 to 25 years) studying at Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences and Central Institute of Science and Technology. The diabetes risk score of each individual was calculated by the Finnish Diabetes Risk Score (FINDRISC tool). Independent risk factors for diabetes and metabolic syndrome were measured by multivariable logistic regression analysis. The p-value of < 0.05 was considered statistically significant in this study.Results: A total of 825 students were recruited and 739 (89.6%) students completed the study with all the fulfilled criteria. The metabolic syndrome (Harmonized Joint Scientific Statement (HJSS) criteria) was present in 7.1%, and the most prevalent defining component was low HDL-C (78%); 74.8% of students were under low risk, 22.18% were at slightly elevated risk, 2.02% were at moderate risk, and 1.01% were at high risk of diabetes. The cardiometabolic risk factors like BMI, TC, and LDL-C were higher at a significant level (p< 0.001) with an increased diabetes risk score. Independent lifestyle risk factor for metabolic syndrome was current smoking (AOR, 4.49, 95% CI 1.38– 14.62) whereas, an independent lifestyle risk factor for diabetes was low adherence to physical exercise (AOR, 4.81, 95% CI, 2.90– 7.99).Conclusion: Metabolic syndrome is present, although in low numbers in young adults putting them at risk to develop diabetes in the near future. Early assessment of metabolic syndrome and diabetes risk in young may provide insights for preventive and control plans for risk population.Keywords: metabolic syndrome, diabetes risk, young adults, Nepal

This study was carried out to establish the association of self-care adherence and their barriers in poor glycemic control in our diabetic population.Patients and methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 480 already diagnosed diabetes outpatients attended in our two hospitals. Glycaemic control was defined by levels of HbA1c. Socio-demographic data, lifestyle variables and anthropometric measurements were recorded using a standard questionnaire. Fasting blood glucose, HbA1c and lipid profiles were estimated using the manufacturer’s guideline. Student’s t-test and one-way ANOVA were used for comparison between different groups and the correlation was established by Spearman correlation. Risk factors associated with poor glycaemic control were verified by logistic regression analysis.Results: The mean HbA1c of the study population was 7.4±1.3% and 65.4% had poor glycaemic control with mean 8.0±1.1%. Higher HbA1c levels were significantly associated with duration of diabetes, a number of drugs used, patient–physician relationship and knowledge about diabetes. Ulcerative Colitis (UC) is a chronic Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) that affects the inner lining of the colon, imposing a significant burden on healthcare systems worldwide. Symptoms include bloody stools and abdominal pain. The prevalence of UC is increasing, particularly among young adults. The pathogenesis involves immune responses, genetics and environmental factors. Diagnostic delays are common, leading to complications and increased costs. Early diagnosis is crucial for preventing complications. Endoscopy is the primary diagnostic tool. Treatment aims to reduce inflammation and achieve remission. Delayed diagnosis can lead to long-term complications such as Colorectal Cancer (CRC) and bowel stenosis. Prompt recognition and management are essential for minimising the disease burden and optimising care. The present study delves into the complex nature of UC, a chronic IBD, revealing its epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnostic challenges, treatment strategies, prognosis, complications and the impact of delayed diagnosis on patients’ quality of life. The study highlights the evolving understanding of UC pathogenesis, incorporating immune responses, genetics, environmental factors and biomarkers. It also discusses diagnostic delays due to symptom similarities and the need for increased awareness among healthcare providers and the public. The study also discusses advanced diagnostic methods and therapeutic approaches, including novel drug targets and surgical interventions. It also highlights the negative consequences of delayed diagnosis, including increased morbidity, psychological distress and socioeconomic burden. The study emphasises the need for collaborative efforts to ensure timely and appropriate care for UC patients.

Traditionally, planting trees on agricultural land including livestock is a very common practice in the mid-hills of Nepal. Trees on farms fulfill the demand for fuel wood/timber including fodder used to feed the livestock. Animal urine/dung is used as a bio-fertilizer that increases soil fertility. However, very few studies have been conducted on assessing carbon (C) stock and soil quality in agroforestry systems. This study was carried out to estimate the C stock and soil quality in agroforestry and agricultural land in the Kaski district of Nepal. Silvo-horto-agro system and agricultural land were selected from Site 1 (900–1000 m and west) and Site 2 (700–800 m and west). Total C stock was higher in the agroforestry at Site 1 (98.57 t ha−1) than agroforestry at Site 2 (64.73 t ha−1). Soil organic C, pH, and available potassium were higher in agroforestry than agriculture sites. Total nitrogen was higher in agroforestry than agriculture at Site 1. Available phosphorus was higher in agriculture than agroforestry at Site 1. Soil quality index (SQI) was good (0.8) and fair (0.6) in agroforestry and agriculture at Site 1. SQI was fair (0.6) in agroforestry and poor (0.5) in agriculture at Site 2. Altogether, the application of farmyard manure and vermi-compost including the higher vegetation density contributes to enhancing the soil quality in agroforestry systems. Further research on C stock including various soil quality indices is necessary under various kinds of agroforestry systems for a better understanding of their contribution towards climate change mitigation.

Abstract Background Approximately one in five pregnant women experience antenatal depression globally. The purpose of the present study was to estimate the prevalence of antenatal depression and explore its relationship between various demographic variables, recent sexual engagement, and recent adverse life events among pregnant Afghan women. Methods A cross-sectional survey study was carried out between January, 2023 and April 2023 among 460 women aged 15–45 years who were recruited using convenience sampling from Herat province (Afghanistan). Logistic regression models were utilized to explore the relationship between antenatal depression and socio-demographic characteristics among the participants. Results The prevalence of antenatal depression symptoms was 78.5%. Multiple regression analysis indicated that antenatal depression was significantly associated with (i) being aged 30–45 years (AOR: 4.216, 95% CI: 1.868–9.515, p = .001), (ii) being of low economic status (AOR:2.102, 95% CI: 1.051–4.202, p = .036), (iii) not being employed (AOR: 2.445, 95% CI:1.189–5.025, p = .015), (iv) not having had sex during the past seven days (AOR: 2.335, 95% CI: 1.427–3.822, p = .001), and (v) not experiencing a traumatic event during the past month (AOR:0.263, 95% CI: 0.139–0.495, p

Background: For more than two decades abortion is legalized in Nepal, recognizing unsafe abortion as one of the leading but preventable cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. To safeguard safe abortion as women’s rights, several policies, guidelines, training manuals have been developed along with training human resources and increasing access to abortion services across Nepal. However, access to safe abortion services remains a challenge. Hence, to unravel the possible reasons behind these challenges, this study explored the knowledge, attitudes, practices and intentions of policymakers of Nepal towards abortion. Methods: Mixed methodology was used incorporating self-administered questionnaire for quantitative data collection and semi-structured interview guidelines to interview twenty local leaders from federal and provincial level, identified through purposive sampling. The ethical approval was taken from Nepal Health Research Council prior to data collection. After transcription and translation to English, Dedoose application was used for qualitative thematic analysis while the quantitative data was analysed using SPSS version. Results: 70% understand that international health and human rights frameworks support abortion. Also, a majority (85%) believe that policies limiting abortion access create negative attitudes toward abortion. All the participants mentioned that they possess a good knowledge of safe abortion services. Majority of the participants had good attitude, confident in advocating, and had positive intention towards safe abortion services. However, existing socio-cultural barriers, lack of awareness, legal barriers and maintaining privacy were identified challenges to seek safe abortion and related services. Conclusions: Despite strong positive intentions, policy implementation gaps and lack of accountability have resulted in poor awareness, access, and acceptability of abortion related services. Further budget allocation, safe abortion prioritization, continuous advocacy, integration of abortion in preservice curriculum and community engagement and awareness will bridge these gaps – to ensure equitable access to quality services including women and girls from marginalized community and adolescents. Background: Despite substantial improvements in the accessibility of safe abortion services nationwide, a noticeable underutilization of these services persists, primarily attributable to the presence of social stigma. This stigma leads to discrimination, abuse, and poor healthcare. This study aims to understand and address abortion stigma among Nepali women of reproductive age. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 2286 women of reproductive age across Nepal. SABAS was used to measure abortion stigma, which includes 18 questions. Quantitative data was collected through face-to-face interviews using structured questionnaires on kobo collect. Stata 15.0 software was used for data analysis. Results: The mean SABAS score was 46.5 out of 90, indicating moderate abortion stigma in Nepal. Negative stereotypes and beliefs about abortion were more prevalent, with over 80% believing a woman's health deteriorates after abortion. Discrimination tendencies were lower, with less than 10% endorsing teasing, pointing fingers, or disgrace. Fear of contagion was also relatively low, with less than 20% agreeing that women who had abortions made others ill. Factors such as age, caste/ethnicity, education, marital status, wealth, and provinces were associated with varying levels of stigma, and women of higher age group, Madhesh, Dalit, Muslim, lower education levels, widowed, poor, Madhes province were linked to higher stigma scores. The study found that stigma levels varied among different groups. Conclusions: The stigma level on abortion is higher in upper age group, Madheshi, Dalit, Muslim, lower education levels, widowed, poor, Madhesh province women in Nepal. Similarly, the negative stereotype and discrimination and exclusion is also high while the fear of contagion is low among Nepalese women and girls. Introduction: In the neonatal period, a variety of cutaneous symptoms are frequent. To minimize unneeded therapy and to reduce parents' stress, it's important to distinguish between transient and pathological newborn dermatoses. The purpose of this study is to describe the clinical pattern of cutaneous lesions in neonates. Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive(IRC/1885/020) study , we enrolled 512 neonates born and admitted in maternal child health care ward and Post Natal ward of a tertiary health care cener irrespective of cutaneous manifestations. Convenience sampling technique was used. They were examined till their stay in hospital and followed up weekly via telephone for development of dermatological manifestations. Results: Out of 512 neonates examined, 415 (81.05%) of neonate had at least one cutaneous manifestation.393 (94.69%) had physiological skin lesions, 22 (5.31%) had pathological skin lesions. The most common physiological skin manifestations were sebaceous gland hyperplasia, mongolian spot, ETN, milia and epstein pearl. The pathological cutaneous manifestations though least common comprised of cradle cap, napkin dermatitis and bacterial infections. Most of the lesions were present within 24 hours of birth and many of them were physiological transient lesion. Conclusions: In conclusion, our study highlights the high prevalence of cutaneous manifestations in neonates, with the majority being physiological in nature. Medical personnel must be well versed in the skin changes of neonates which will further help prevent unnecessary treatment and identify life threatening situations that require additional attention.

This paper discusses the growing influence of renewable energy and distributed generation, emphasizing the need for smart control systems to maximize benefits and optimize network performance. However, the absence of a standardized evaluation framework makes it challenging to compare different control systems effectively, especially in large-scale hybrid networks with both AC and DC components. While hybrid energy systems show promise for greener and more reliable power networks, they introduce complexity to control methods. Researchers are exploring innovative approaches, including linear and nonlinear techniques, to leverage renewable energy sources effectively in hybrid grids. The paper provides an overview of heuristic evolutionary optimization methods for microgrids (AC, DC, and hybrid AC-DC), highlighting promising techniques such as Crow Search Algorithm, Modified Crow Search Algorithm, Particle Swarm Optimization, and Genetic Algorithms. Comparative analysis suggests that the Modified Crow Search Algorithm performs best across various evaluation criteria, indicating its potential for optimizing microgrids effectively.

The study addresses customer churn, a major issue in service-oriented sectors like telecommunications, where it refers to the discontinuation of subscriptions. The research emphasizes the importance of recognizing customer satisfaction for retaining clients, focusing specifically on early churn prediction as a key strategy. Previous approaches mainly used generalized classification techniques for churn prediction but often neglected the aspect of interpretability, vital for decision-making. This study introduces explainer models to address this gap, providing both local and global explanations of churn predictions. Various classification models, including the standout Gradient Boosting Machine (GBM), were used alongside visualization techniques like Shapley Additive Explanations plots and scatter plots for enhanced interpretability. The GBM model demonstrated superior performance with an 81% accuracy rate. A Wilcoxon signed rank test confirmed GBM’s effectiveness over other models, with the p-value indicating significant performance differences. The study concludes that GBM is notably better for churn prediction, and the employed visualization techniques effectively elucidate key churn factors in the telecommunications sector.

The effective management of forests relies on the crucial role played bysilvicultural systems. However there exist a significant knowledge gap regarding impact of these systems in Nepalese forests. Therefore, this research was conducted to assess the effects of the forest management activities under irregular shelterwood system on soil organic carbon (SOC) stock and the overall soil quality of Sal (Shorea robusta Gaertn. f.) forests in Terai region of Nepal. Stratified random sampling method with 1.67 % sampling intensity was adopted in this study where management of stands was used as basis of strata. A total of 30 composite soil samples (15 each from managed and unmanaged forest stands) were collected from a depth of 0–30 cm, taken from the four corners and the center of each plot. Soil quality index (SQI) method was used for soil quality assessment using indicators on the basis of prior studies conducted in Nepal. Nepal, known for its challenging topography and fragile geology is confronted with the constant threat of floods leading to substantial socio-economic losses annually. However, the country's efforts in planning and managing flood risks remain insufficient, especially in the vulnerable Mohana-Khutiya River. Therefore, this study focused on the Mohana-Khutiya River and utilizes the Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) model to comprehensively map flood susceptibility and fill crucial gaps in flood risk assessments. This study employed a combination of 10 geospatial environmental layers and field-based past flood inventory to implement the MaxEnt machine learning model for flood susceptibility modeling. The available past flood data were divided into two sets, with 75% allocated for model construction and the remaining 25% for model validation. This study demonstrated that the proximity of the river had a significant impact (33.1%) on the occurrence of the flood. Surprisingly, the amount of annual precipitation throughout the year exhibited no detectable contribution to the flood event in the study site. About 4.9% area came under the high flood susceptible zone followed by 12.75 % in the moderate zone and 82.34% in the low-risk zone. The model exhibited excellent performance with an Area Under Curve (AUC) value of 0.935 and a low standard deviation of 0.018, indicating accurate predictions and consistent precision. These results highlight the model's reliability and its significance for developing disaster management policy by local government in the study site. Future research should refine the MaxEnt model by including more variables, validating against observed flood events, and exploring integration with other flood modeling approaches.

Rapidly evolving bacterial pathogens pose a unique challenge for long-term plant disease management. In this study, we investigated the types and rate of mutations in bacterial populations during seasonal disease epidemics. Two phylogenetically distinct strains of the bacterial spot pathogen, Xanthomonas perforans, were marked, released in tomato fields, and recaptured at several time points during the growing season. Genomic variations in recaptured isolates were identified by comparative analysis of their whole-genome sequences. In total, 180 unique variations (116 substitutions, 57 insertions/deletions, and 7 structural variations) were identified from 300 genomes, resulting in the overall host-associated mutation rate of ∼0.3 to 0.9/genome/week. Membrane-associated RING-CH (MARCH) 2 is a member of the MARCH protein family of RING-CH finger E3 ubiquitin ligases that play important roles in regulating the levels of proteins found on the cell surface. MARCH1, 2 and 8 inhibit HIV-1 infection by preventing the incorporation of the envelope glycoproteins into nascent virions. However, a better understanding of the mechanism utilized by MARCH proteins to restrict HIV-1 infection is needed. In this report, we identify an amino acid in human MARCH2, absent in mouse MARCH2, critical for its antiretroviral function. Moreover, we map the domains of human MARCH2 critical for restricting as well as binding to the HIV-1 envelope glycoproteins. In addition, we demonstrate that MARCH2 is present inside nascent virions and reduces particle infectivity by blocking virus entry in a RING-CH-independent manner. Finally, we show that MARCH2 acts as an HIV-1 restriction factor only in primary CD4+ T cells and can prevent cell-to-cell transmission of HIV-1. Our findings reveal important new aspects of the antiviral mechanism utilized by human MARCH2 to restrict HIV-1 that have potential implications to all MARCH proteins with antiviral functions and their viral targets.

Background: Nepal is one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change. The drivers of climate risk include its topography, ecological diversity, climatic variability, natural resource dependency, under-development, and socioeconomic vulnerabilities. Climate change affects women and girls in unique ways. Research conducted in Asia Pacific region highlight negative sexual and reproductive health outcomes from climate change-related stressors such as droughts, floods, and air pollution, factors also linked to decreased SRH services utilization, increased maternal mortality rates, and repercussions on women’s mental health. Methods: This is a mixed methods study conducted in two river basins including household surveys with 384 females ages 18-49, 12 focus group discussions, and 22 key informant interviews. We conducted descriptive and thematic analysis. Results: More than half relied on agriculture for income (66%). Despite one-third being heads of households, land ownership was low (13%). Climate change perceptions included rising temperatures (88%), increased heat wave (70%), drying water source (99%), and delayed monsoons (83%), impacting agriculture and increasing women's workload (61%) due to displacement and male migration. 64% reported disturbances in antenatal and postnatal care visits . Inaccessible healthcare facilities during the rainy season increased maternal mortality risks. Heavy river flooding hindered female community health volunteers access leading to childbirth complications. 82% of women feared being unable to protect their children post-climate events. Moreover, 21% of women faced gender-based violence during or after climate disasters. Conclusions: Our findings suggest clear impacts of climate change on women and the communities. Thus, climate adaptation efforts must be designed to address the unique impacts of the crisis on women and girls, making space for their increased participation and leadership. Objectives: Antibodies to gp210 and sp100 are specific and unique anti-nuclear autoantibodies (ANAs) associated with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). Importantly the presence of anti-gp210 and anti-sp100 responses is indicative of poor clinical outcomes. However, the utility of measuring titers of these antibodies remains unclear. Materials and methods: Using the in-house purified gp210 (HSA108-C18) and sp100 (amino acid position 296–386), we quantitatively measured serum autoantibodies to gp210 and sp100 using chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) in a very large cohort of 390 patients with PBC, including 259 cases with no prior ursodesoxycholic acid (UDCA) treatment and 131 cases with UDCA treatment. We also analyzed serial changes in anti-gp210 and anti-sp100 levels in 245 sequential samples from 88 patients. Results: In our cross-sectional analysis, we detected anti-gp210 immunoglobulin G (IgG) and anti-sp100 IgG autoantibodies in 129 out of 390 (33.1%) and 80 out of 390 (20.5%) PBC patients, respectively. Multivariate analysis revealed that serum IgG (st.β = 0.35, P = 0.003) and gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT) (st.β = 0.23, P = 0.042) levels at baseline were independently associated with anti-gp210 concentrations. In serial testing, we observed significant fluctuations in anti-gp210 antibody levels. These fluctuations reflected responsiveness to UDCA therapy, particularly in anti-gp210-positive patients with initially lower concentrations in the stages of disease. Conclusions: Our study reflects that quantitative changes of anti-gp210 antibody are indicative of UDCA responses. There is a great need for newer metrics in PBC and we suggest that a more detailed and longer study of these unique ANAs is warranted.

Introduction: Despite global progress in gender equality, still not every woman has access to safe and the highest quality health care. Visually impaired young adult women represent one of the most vulnerable groups with a poorer ability to access necessary healthcare services. This study aims to explore and comprehend the experiences of visually impaired young adult women in accessing healthcare services in Nepal. Methods: A descriptive phenomenological study was conducted among 16 visually impaired women aged 20 to 35 years who had utilized healthcare services within the past 12 months. Face-to-face, in-depth interviews were conducted for data collection, and thematic analysis was conducted for data analysis. Results: Our study revealed a range of challenges faced by visually impaired young women that impeded their healthcare-seeking. These challenges included sexual harassment by male healthcare providers, disability-related stigma, financial difficulties, limited autonomy in decision-making, and a lack of disability-friendly healthcare facilities and services. Particularly, experiencing sexual harassment from male healthcare providers, coupled with underlying disability-related stigma, profoundly influenced the avoidance of healthcare. To navigate these challenges, some women sought support by having family members or friends accompany them or by requesting to be seen by a female healthcare provider. Nevertheless, financial dependence on families and women lacking employment and income led to a feeling of burden on the family, contributing to a reluctance among women to seek expensive healthcare. Social organization-based, collaborative efforts and peer support networks played a significant role in breaking down barriers and improving overall healthcare experiences. Conclusions: While integrating disability-friendly healthcare services and infrastructure is essential, fostering attitudinal and behavioral change—particularly among male healthcare providers—is more important to ensure safety for young women in healthcare settings. The implementation of anti-sexual harassment policies is imperative to ensure a safe and respectful environment. Community mobilizing and peer group-based programs can be tested for increasing visually impaired women’s utilization of relevant healthcare services.

Background: Intestinal infections with Helicobacter pylori mainly occur during childhood. If contracted, these infections may cause chronic gastritis, frequently leading to peptic ulcer disease in later life. This study aims to detect the prevalence of H. pylori infections in patients with active gastritis. Methods: The study included 150 participants who were consuming daily anti-gastritis drugs to reduce the gas and were considered active gastritis patients and were recruited from Lekhnath 12, now known as Pokhara metropolitan-30, from May 2018 to March 2019. They were screened for H. pylori antibodies for detection of infection by the immunochromatographic rapid detection kit, and the data were analyzed using SPSS 2016. Results: Serum anti-Helicobacter pylori antibodies were used to detect the presence of Helicobacter pylori in these participants. Among the 150 participants, 54 were males (36%) and 96 were females (64%). The results showed that 47 (31.3%) of the patients were positive for anti-Helicobacter pylori test. The age group 30 to 40 had the highest prevalence of 21 (14.0%). Using public water showed the highest prevalence with a P value of 0.04. Conclusion: There should be an additional aspect required for the diagnosis and treatment of gastritis, which is the healthcare providers' and patients' awareness of the cause and most efficient treatments for this medical condition. Using only anti-gastritis drugs is not sufficient; treatment against Helicobacter pylori requires the right pathway of treatment by the use of several antibiotics.

Autonomous electric vehicles provide benefits to both drivers and the environment compared to conventional vehicles; however, they are burdened with an increase in potential pathways for cyber-attacks. Therefore, reliable cyber-security strategies for these vehicles must be pursued. This paper addresses this concern by implementing a threat detection strategy that utilizes an observer and a neural network. These tools monitor discrepancies between the vehicle’s lateral metrics, which are produced via sensor data, neural network output, and an observer. Previous literature focuses on physics-based analytics to create the threat decision, but here, a data based approach is utilized. The vehicle used in this study is a four-motor-drive autonomous electric vehicle that is propelled with brushless DC motors. The motors are controlled by direct torque control. In this study, three forms of cyber-attacks are implemented. These include data integrity attacks, replay attacks, and denial-of-service attacks. A performance metric is also created, which indicates the data-driven approach outperforms the physics-based approaches. All modeling and simulation were conducted in the MATLAB/Simulink environment.

Recently, there has been more interest in Decentralized Data-Sharing (DDS) because of the introduction of Dataspace 4.0. DDS is becoming increasingly popular as a safe, open, and effective way for many parties to data-sharing. Unlike conventional, centralized methods, DDS has several benefits, such as better knowledge exchange, higher accessibility and interoperability, and data privacy and security. The paper covers DDS’s advantages, including improved resilience, higher security, increased privacy, and improved interoperability. DDS gives people and organizations more control and ownership over their data while reducing the dangers of centralized data management. In this survey, we highlight promising technologies for DDS in Dataspace 4.0, including Federated Learning (FL), blockchain, decentralized file systems, semantic web and knowledge representation, and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks. We highlight the challenges, opportunities, and future directions of technology enabling further DDS advancement in Industry 4.0.

Recently, the thermal management of power electronic converters has gained significant attention due to the continuous trend of developing very compact power electronic converters with high power density. With the evolution of power semiconductor devices, high operating temperatures and large thermal cycles have become possible, necessitating a significant improvement in thermal system designs. Researchers have made significant efforts to develop effective thermal management systems to improve the reliability and lifetime of power electronic converters. This article intends to present a thorough review of thermal management systems employed in power electronics cooling. The applied thermal management techniques have been reviewed from the perspective of electrical parameter regulation and heat dissipation control. Regulation of electrical parameters involves active thermal control, which is a method for controlling junction temperature and thermal cycling of power semiconductor devices. The active thermal control implementation processes reviewed in this article consist of increasing overload capacity, manipulating switching and conduction losses, employing modified modulation processes, balancing thermal stress at the converter level, and controlling thermal stress at the system level. Control of heat dissipation can be achieved through direct and indirect cooling of power electronic converters with air or liquid as the coolant. The effectiveness and implementation methods of these cooling techniques, such as channel cooling, phase change material-based cooling, immersion cooling, jet impingement and spray cooling, are reviewed in this paper. Moreover, performance-enhancing ideas and challenges for these techniques are discussed. The primary objective of this review paper is to bridge the existing gap in the literature by offering a comprehensive comparison of commonly employed thermal management techniques.

Almost every community Question-Answering (cQA) platform has the pressing need of enhancing user experience by presenting dedicated displays, connecting potential answerers with open questions and revitalizing the material in their archives. In doing so, it is crucial to understand the profile of their community members, especially as it relates to their demographics. In this realm, variables such as age and gender have shown to be particularly promising for managing content. For instance, they make it easier to connect questions posted by one generation that are more likely to be answered by individuals from the previous generation. This paper advances the current body of knowledge in this area by exploring the performance of nineteen frontier transformer-based models (e.g., BERT and ELECTRA) on age recognition across a large-scale collection of cQA members. In effect, the best encoder (LongFormer) finished with an accuracy of 78.61% (F1-Score of 0.7424) by taking full-questions and answers into account. Unlike gender recognition, our outcomes do not show a noticeable difference between cased and uncased models. But on the other hand, they confirm that the transition from one age group to the other is smooth, and thus boundary individuals pose a tough challenge to discriminant models built on top of frontier machine learning approaches.

In the current practice for the design of the building structure is done by considering the footing as fixed based. The mid-rise buildings having variation in storey height from 3- to 10-storey were selected for the research. In this research, analysis was done to study into the interaction between the seismic response of RC-framed buildings and the soil-structure for various soil types. To study the linear responses of the structures, the model was developed in FEM software SAP2000. The underneath soil was modelled by using direct method, where the soil is considered as solid element. The considered depth of soil was considered 30 m and the viscous spring dashpot were applied to avoid the reflection of seismic waves in soil medium along the effective horizontal soil boundaries. The seismic response variables such as maximum lateral deflection, inter-storey drift and fundamental time periods have been studied. SSI amplified the lateral deflection, inter-storey drift and time period of structure shifting the performance level from life safety to near collapse level. Fundamental time period of the first mode was increased by 23 % for very soft soil. The maximum lateral deflection of 10-storey building for very soft soil was amplified up to 282 % for Kobe and the performance level was shifted from life safety (1.5 %) to collapse level for all the considered model for soil type D . The performance level of structure was checked against the different soil types on varying storey height and finally a simplified method has been proposed to incorporate the effects of SSI in fixed base structures.

While monoclonal antibodies have shown success in cancer immunotherapy, their limitations prompt exploration of alternative approaches such as aptamers and peptides targeting programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1). Despite the significance of these biotechnological tools, a comprehensive review encompassing both aptamers and peptides for PD-L1 targeting is lacking. Addressing this gap is crucial for consolidating recent advancements and insights in this field. Biotechnological advances leveraging aptamers and peptides represent a cutting-edge approach in refining the targeting proteins. Our review aims to provide valuable guidance for researchers and clinicians, highlighting the biotechnological advances utilizing aptamers and peptides refining PD-L1 targeting.

The increase in usage of Online Learning systems has provided a challenge to deliver e-contents based on user needs. This study uses learning style data to determine the learning profile and provide the content based on the user's needs, whereas gamified elements are used to increase user engagement. The combination of these two approaches would eventually increase the overall user motivation and interest in the platform. The model developed is used to predict the Learning Style (LS) preference by analyzing the activity data obtained from the student interaction in the course. Further, clustering is done to determine the LS preference of the user in the system. Content is designed based on user's learning styles and preferences and uploaded to the platform. Data were collected through surveys after the end of the course to measure students' perception of the three variables: "motivation, learning satisfaction," and "learning outcomes." The findings from the study suggest that the students showed high motivation, positive learning outcomes, and satisfaction with the developed contents.
