In this paper, we concern with the global well‐posedness for nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a Dirac delta potential (δ$$ \delta $$‐NLS): i∂tu+∂x2u+δu+|u|p−1u=0,(t,x)∈ℝ+×ℝ,p≥5.$$ i{\partial}_tu+{\partial}_x^2u+\updelta u+{\left|u\right|}^{p-1}u=0,\kern3.0235pt \left(t,x\right)\in {\mathbb{R}}^{+}\times \mathbb{R},\kern3.0235pt p\ge 5. $$Firstly, we give a new variational characterization of the solitary waves of (δ$$ \delta $$‐NLS) by making use of the symmetric decreasing rearrangement and constrained minimization argument. Secondly, we construct an invariant set Hα,β,ω+$$ {\mathcal{H}}_{\alpha, \beta, \omega}^{+} $$, via the variational characterization of the solitary waves. We obtain the global well-posedness and the scattering theory of the solution for the modified Davey–Stewartson system { i ∂ t u + Δ u = | u | 4 u + u v x 1 , (t , x) ∈ R × R 3 , − Δ v = (| u | 2) x 1 in the energy space H 1 ( R 3) in this paper. Since the interaction Morawetz estimate fails and the nonlinearity is non-local, we employ the concentration-compactness argument introduced by Kenig and Merle (Invent Math. 2006;166:645–675) to establish the scattering result. We prove that any positive solution for the critical nonlinear Hartree equation \begin{equation*} -\operatorname {\bigtriangleup }{u}\left (x\right) -\int _{\mathbb {R}^6} \frac {\left |{u}\left (y\right)\right |^2 }{ \left |x-y\right |^4 }\mathrm {d}y \,{u}\left (x\right)=0,\quad \quad x\in \mathbb {R}^6, \end{equation*} is nondegenerate. Firstly, in terms of spherical harmonics, we show that the corresponding linear operator can be decomposed into a series of one dimensional linear operators. Secondly, by making use of the Perron-Frobenius property, we show that the kernel of each one dimensional linear operator is finite. In this paper, we characterize a family of solitary waves for nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) with derivative (DNLS) by the structure analysis and the variational argument. Since DNLS does not enjoy the Galilean invariance any more, the structure analysis here is closely related with the nontrivial momentum and shows the equivalence of nontrivial solutions between the quasilinear and the semilinear equations. Firstly, for the subcritical parameters and the critical parameters , we show the existence and uniqueness of the solitary waves for DNLS, up to the phase rotation and spatial translation symmetries. Secondly, for the critical parameters , and the supercritical parameters , there is no nontrivial solitary wave for DNLS. At last, we make use of the invariant sets, which is related to the variational characterization of the solitary wave, to obtain the global existence of solution for DNLS with initial data in the invariant set , with , or . On the one hand, different with the scattering result for the -critical NLS in [B. Dodson, Global well-posedness and scattering for the mass critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation with mass below the mass of the ground state, Adv. Math. 285(5) (2015) 1589-1618], the scattering result of DNLS does not hold for initial data in because of the existence of infinity many small solitary/traveling waves in with , or . On the other hand, our global result improves the global result in [Y. Wu, Global well-posedness of the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations in energy space, Anal.
