BACKGROUND: Extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL) is a subtype of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that accounts for approximately 3-8% of all malignant lymphomas. So far, ENKTL has no standard treatment guidelines, and the current treatment methods pose adverse effects. The combination of programmed death receptors (PD-1) and programmed death receptors' ligands (PD-L1) downregulates effector T cells; hence, it may be an effective treatment for NK/T-cell lymphoma. Here, we report a patient diagnosed with ENKTL whose health was significantly improved after PD-1 immunotherapy. At the same time, the patient suffered from related renal toxic side effects. Immunotherapy is an emerging treatment method for tumors, and the early diagnosis and identification of its side effects are vital for the diagnosis and treatment of tumors. CASE REPORT: Laboratory tests, pathological examinations, and the patient's history were performed to estimate the severity and the cause of renal insufficiency. The patient with ENKTL developed transient renal damage during immunotherapy. During the next treatment and examination, renal insufficiency was irrelevant to PD-1 inhibitors and avoided unnecessary drug withdrawal. CONCLUSIONS: In the present case report, we discuss a patient who developed a severe transient renal impairment during immunotherapy and review published studies regarding immunotherapy and its renal-related side effects. We also outline how to critically distinguish whether a patient's kidney injury is anti-PD-1 treatment. We also provide insights to oncologists to develop an effective follow-up treatment plan for early detection and management of any anti-PD-1 treatment side effects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Translating the Neck Disability Index (NDI) into the Malay language (NDI-M); evaluation of psychometric properties in patients with neck pain. The NDI-M was translated according to established guidelines. In the first visit, 120 participants completed the NDI-M, visual analogue scale (VAS) for pain and demographic details. 98 participants returned to complete similar questionnaires and the Global Rating of Change (GRoC) scale. The NDI-M was evaluated for internal consistency, test-retest reliability, content validity, construct validity and responsiveness. The NDI-M demonstrated excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.84) and good test-retest reliability (ICC2,1 = 0.79). Content validity was confirmed with no floor or ceiling effects. Construct validity was established revealing three-factor subscales explaining 68% of the total variance. The NDI-M showed a moderate correlation with VAS (Rp = 0.49, p < 0.001). Regarding responsiveness, a moderate correlation between NDI-M change scores and VAS change scores was found (Rp = 0.40, p < 0.001). However, there was no significant correlation between NDI-M with GRoC (Rs = 0.11, p = 0.27). The NDI-M is a reliable and valid tool to measure functional outcomes in patients with neck pain. It is responsive in detecting changes in pain intensity during a patient's rehabilitation journey. The NDI was translated into the Malay language and culturally adapted for Malay-speaking patients with neck pain. The NDI-M demonstrated an excellent level of internal consistency and good test-retest reliability. It demonstrated content and construct validity, with three-factor subscales, and moderate responsiveness for pain intensity. Purpose: The Outcome measures for vascular malformation (OVAMA) group reached consensus on the core outcome domains for the core outcome set (COS) for peripheral vascular malformations (venous, lymphatic and arteriovenous malformations). However, it is unclear which instruments should be used to measure these domains. Therefore, our aims were to identify all outcome measurement instruments available for vascular malformations, and to evaluate their measurement properties.Methods: With the first literature search, we identified outcomes and instruments previously used in prospective studies on vascular malformations. A second search yielded studies on measurement properties of patient- and physician-reported instruments that were either developed for vascular malformations, or used in prospective studies. If the latter instruments were not specifically validated for vascular malformations, we performed a third search for studies on measurement properties in clinically similar diseases (vascular or lymphatic diseases and benign tumors). We assessed the methodological quality of these studies following the Consensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments methodology, and evaluated the quality of the measurement properties.Results: The first search yielded 27 studies, none using disease-specific instruments. The second and third search included 22 development and/or validation studies, concerning six instruments. Only the Lymphatic Malformation Function Instrument was developed specifically for vascular malformations. Other instruments were generic QoL instruments developed and/or partly validated for clinically similar diseases.Conclusions: Additional research on measurement properties is needed to assess which instruments may be included in the COS. Using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy, we measured the frequency dependent complex dielectric response and conductivity of n-type single-crystal ZnO epilayers with different carrier concentrations over the frequency range from 0.1 to 3.0 THz. ZnO nanotubes were fabricated by vapor-phase transport using the mixture of ZnO and graphite powders in air. A self-catalyzed growth mechanism was proposed based on microstructure analysis by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and x-ray diffraction. Raman scattering, integrated photoluminescence, and time-resolved photoluminescence were employed to explore the optical properties and the dynamic process. Postgrowth annealing was carried out on ZnO thin films grown by metal-organic chemical-vapor deposition. It was found from the scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy measurements that the morphology of the thin films changed drastically after annealing. The as-grown thin films consist of fine nanoscale-sized sheets with random orientation. Upon annealing at 800 °C, the ZnO nanosheets changed to three-dimensional nanoneedles. The different types of the mass transport mechanisms are discussed and correlated with the experimental results. A coarsening kinetics developed by Lifshitz and Slyozov [J. Phys. Chem. Solids 19, 35 (1961)] and Wagner [Z. Elektrochem. 65, 581 (1961)] was used to estimate the activation energy of the coarsening process. The activation energy of the Ostwald ripening in ZnO films was estimated in the first attempt, and the value is at around 1.33 eV. Hall effect and photoluminescence measurements were carried out to investigate the effect of coarsening on electrical and optical properties of the ZnO thin films. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The band structures of wurtzite ZnO are calculated by the empirical pseudopotential method (EPM). The eight parameters of the Zn and O atomic pseudopotential form factors are obtained with the formula of Schluter et al.[Phys. Rev. B 12, 4200 (1975)]. The band parameters are extracted by using a k·p Hamiltonian to fit the EPM results. The calculated band-edge energies (Eg, EA, EB, and EC) at the Γ point are in good agreement with the experimental results. Based on the band parameters obtained, valence subbands of wurtzite ZnO/MgxZn1-xO tensile-strained quantum wells with different well widths and Mg compositions are calculated by the six-band k·p method. Based on vapor-phase transport method, manganese-doped zinc oxide (ZnO:Mn) tetropod whiskers were fabricated. The pods of the ZnO:Mn whiskers show hexagonal hollow shape with multitips at the front. X-ray diffraction and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy demonstrate that the tube pods and the tips are composed of wurtzite ZnO growing along [0001] direction. The generation of the luminescent center in ZnO whiskers and electron transport between the ground state and the excitation states of Mn2+ are analyzed by Raman-scattering, photoluminescence, and photoluminescent excitation measurements. The optical band gap of ZnO thin films deposited on fused quartz by metal-organic chemical-vapor deposition was studied. The optical band gap of as-grown ZnO blueshifted from 3.13 to 4.06 eV as the growth temperature decreased from 500 to 200 °C. After annealing, the optical band gap shifted back to the single-crystal value. All the ZnO thin films studied show strong band-edge photoluminescence. X-ray diffraction measurements showed that samples deposited at low temperatures (<450 °C) consisted of amorphous and crystalline phases. The redshift of the optical band gap back to the original position after annealing was strong evidence that the blueshift was due to an amorphous phase. The unshifted photoluminescence spectra indicated that the luminescence was due to the crystalline phase of ZnO, which was in the form of nanocrystals embedded in the amorphous phase. Summary: Background: An important limitation in vascular malformation research is the heterogeneity in outcome measures used for the evaluation of treatment outcome. Objectives: To reach international consensus on a core outcome set (COS) for clinical research on peripheral vascular malformations: lymphatic (LM), venous (VM) and arteriovenous malformations (AVM). In this consensus study, we determined what domains should constitute the COS. Methods: Thirty‐six possibly relevant outcome domains were proposed to an international group of physicians, patients and the parents of patients. In a three‐round e‐Delphi process using online surveys, participants repeatedly rated the importance of these domains on a five‐point Likert scale. Participants could also propose other relevant domains. This process was performed for LM, VM and AVM separately. Consensus was predefined as 80% agreement on the importance of a domain among both the physician group and the patient/parent group. Outcomes were then re‐evaluated in an online consensus meeting. Results: 167 physicians and 134 patients and parents of patients with LM (n = 50), VM (n = 71) and AVM (n = 29) participated in the study. After three rounds and a consensus meeting, consensus was reached for all three types of vascular malformations on the core domains of radiological assessment, physician‐reported location‐specific signs, patient‐reported severity of symptoms, pain, quality of life, satisfaction and adverse events. Vascular malformation type‐specific signs and symptoms were included for LM, VM and AVM, separately. The unidirectional bipolar resistance switching in GaN/InGaN-based light-emitting diode (LED) was discovered to explore optically readable resistive random access memory (RRAM) device. The device displays stable resistance window in both endurance and retention tests, showing good nonvolatility for memory application. The light-emitting state of this device can also be tuned by the resistance switching. Such phenomenon is illustrated as the switching between conventional light-emitting rectifying behavior and nonlight-emitting metal-like ohmic behavior. Large amount of structural and point defects in the epitaxial wafer were considered as the main contributor to the resistance switching in LED device. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
