Purpose: Literature suggest that physical education and health (PEH) may contribute to the sustainable development (SD) agenda, yet little is known how PEH teachers relate SD to their teaching practices. This paper explores Swedish upper secondary PEH teachers' experiences and perceived competence regarding teaching SD as part of PEH. Method: An online questionnaire was used to examine SD competence. Data from 702 PEH teachers were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. Results: PEH teachers perceive higher competence regarding the social dimension of SD compared to the economic and environmental dimensions. Female teachers and those with more than 15 years teaching experiences reported the highest perceived competence. Seventy percent of the respondents perceived that they lacked competence to teach SD. Discussion/Conclusion: PEH teachers struggle to relate SD to PEH practice and call for support to increase their competence in terms of how to conceptualize and transform SD into PEH teaching practice. Dementia-friendly communities (DFCs) are a policy-endorsed approach to community engagement in England that promotes social inclusion to enable people affected by dementia to live well. Research suggests that physical activity is beneficial in encouraging social connection and improving health. A mixed method sequential study design in England involving a national survey (n = 31) and semistructured interviews (n = 65) in three DFCs was carried out. The aim was to understand how DFCs enable people affected by dementia to participate in physical activities. An evaluation framework for DFCs was used to organize and interpret the data, and analysis was informed by the inclusive (social) citizen lens. Findings showed that DFCs offered a range of adapted dementia-inclusive and dementia-specific activities; however, people were not routinely offered information at time of diagnosis. Objective: This study aimed to assess the changes in the frequency of physical activity (PA) counseling and in the predictors of primary care PA promotion in Québec primary care physicians (PCPs) between 2010 and 2020. Methods: In 2010, we conducted a survey among Québec PCPs. Questions included: frequency of promoting PA to patients, perceived barriers, needs to improve PA promotion practice, frequency of PCPs' PA practice, and sociodemographic information. In 2020, we took over the 2010 questionnaire to document the evolution of the PA promotion practice. Results: The proportion of PCPs discussing PA with their patients significantly increased (P <.05) in 2020 for the following health conditions: depression, low back pain, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and cancer; it declined (P <.05) for overweight patients, those with metabolic syndrome, and in primary prevention. Collaboration with PA professionals was the major need identified, and it increased in 2020. PCPs' own practice of PA was a predictor of PA promotion in 2010 (odds ratio = 6.679; P <.001) and in 2020 (odds ratio = 6.679; P <.001). In both 2010 and in 2020, older or more experienced PCPs were more likely to discuss PA with their patients without diagnosed diseases than younger ones or those with less experience. Conclusions: Over the last 10 years, there has been a significant increase in PCPs promoting PA in Québec; however, it has been mainly oriented toward secondary prevention. It is concerning that PA counseling in primary prevention has declined, notably among younger PCPs. The stronger claim for closer collaboration with kinesiologists suggests that PCPs are in favor of an interprofessional strategy, namely collaboration with PA specialists. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study examines data from a survey conducted at a U.S. public research university, focusing on students' behaviors and attitudes toward the library, both physical and online. The analysis categorizes student users and nonusers based on demographics such as full-time enrollment, first-generation status, college, and grade point average (GPA). Results indicate that first-generation students were most likely to never use the online library. Low GPA respondents visited the physical library most frequently, whereas high GPA students were more inclined to use e-resources. In the initial stage of their federally funded research project, the authors detail how they developed and validated a set of assessment tools aimed at measuring undergraduate students' academic engagement and their own definition of academic success. To ensure the tools were measuring what they were intended to, and that they were reliable, the authors enlisted content experts, including a librarian with academic engagement expertise, three educational psychologists with specialization in college students' engagement, self-regulation, and related fields, and two psychometricians with knowledge of psychological measurement. This paper reports on a study on delinquent acts in three academic libraries in northern Ghana. A survey method was used for the study and a questionnaire was used to collect data. The study population consisted of staff in the Reader Service Sections of the three libraries. The study found that failure to observe library regulations, keeping overdue materials, eating in the library, littering, reserving seats unjustifiably, and hiding of books for the purpose of monopoly are examples of delinquent acts practiced by library users. According to the participants, the main reasons for delinquent acts are inadequate orientation to users, insufficient copies of books, and indiscipline among library users. The respondents further reported that these actions led to a reduction in library resources and low patronage. To curb deviant behaviors in libraries, the study recommends the adoption of pragmatic approaches including massive orientation for users, imbibing positive library culture that fosters respect, bolstering commitment and cooperation among library users and the staff, increasing library budgets as well as finding more creative ways of acquiring more copies of books, such as using Open Educational Resources (OERs), belonging to consortia and building and/or enhancing existing Institutional Repositories (IR). Purpose: Utilizing teacher socialization in physical education theory, the aim of this study was to develop a survey to measure physical education teachers' socialization experiences and comprehensive school physical activity program involvement. Method: Instrument development included a review of existing comprehensive school physical activity program and socialization instruments, Delphi method to evaluate face and content validity through expert feedback, and a pilot test to examine the instrument's psychometric properties. Results: Upon completion of expert feedback, three items were removed, four items were revised, and open-ended questions were added to each survey construct. The pilot test yielded 28 completed surveys (40% response rate). Bayesian exploratory factor analytic procedures showed that items had statistically significant loadings and were quality measures of the corresponding constructs. Survey subscales had acceptable and high internal consistency coefficients. Discussion/Conclusion: Results suggest that this instrument is a trustworthy tool for continued research examining physical education teachers' socialization and comprehensive school physical activity program involvement. This paper presents the results of an international survey of teachers’ perspectives on academic freedom. We surveyed 173 social studies and science teachers from the United States and Canada about the importance of academic freedom, their comfort level broaching controversial topics in four broad areas (politics, economics, health and safety, and science), and the factors that influence their decision-making around discussing controversial topics. The study found that teachers value academic freedom despite being aware of how limited their freedom is in practice. Particularly controversial topics included safe injection sites, abortion, prisons, medically assisted dying, and same-sex marriage. Analysis via Mann-Whitney U tests was conducted to analyse whether teachers’ individual differences (e.g., experience, gender, or job status) influenced their pedagogical approach. Gender and years of experience had little influence, but teachers’ cautiousness was significantly influenced by whether they have tenure and the political climate of the area where they work. Background: The quality of treatment is especially critical in the context of complex and chronic diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS). The Brain Health Initiative, an independent international consortium of neurologists, reached a consensus on time-based quality standards prioritizing brain health-focused care for people with MS. Objectives: To gain deeper insights into the transferability of these quality standards to a specific area, we conducted a survey among MS experts across various MS centers in Germany. Methods: Participants were asked about time frames considered high standards and those currently being implemented in daily routine based on their experience. Results: The results reveal a large gap between ideal conceptions and their adaptation in the real world, mostly due to a lack of resources. Conclusions: Nevertheless, these guidelines and recommendations can be aspired to as ideals. Consensual and inclusive clinical pathways complemented by measurable quality indicators are needed to improve care and approach these ideals. Neither exists in the current management of MS. Social media can facilitate self-disclosure of a stigmatized identity. This mixed-methods study explores self-disclosure by people with dementia on social media, comparing patterns and purpose of use by those aged 65 and above versus those aged under 65. Of 143 internet-using respondents of an online survey, 77 (aged between 44 and 88 years) were users of social media. Facebook was the most commonly used platform (95%), followed by Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok. People with dementia aged under 65 used more platforms and used social media more frequently than older counterparts [χ2 = 5.58, p =.031]. Content analysis of open-ended questions, validated and extended through qualitative interview data, showed younger users shared dementia-related information for purposes of advocacy and awareness whereas older users prioritized the dementia journey. Background Objectives Method Results Conclusion Persons with Parkinson's disease (PD) experience progressive motor and non‐motor symptoms which may influence their ability to drive a car. This is experienced as a massive challenge by many affected individuals, for whom being able to drive a car is vital to maintain functional independence.We assessed how the diagnosis of PD affected the possession of a driving license, how people with PD had adapted their driving style, and to what extent they had communicated about their driving ability with their healthcare professionals. We also evaluated their knowledge on insurance‐ and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA)‐related implications.A cross‐sectional 10‐item survey was completed by 540 participants of a population‐based cohort of persons with PD in the Netherlands (PRIME‐NL study).Participants had a mean age of 70 years and disease duration of 7.3 years. 84% possessed a valid driving license. Of those who gave up their license, this was done mostly (78%) on a voluntarily basis. Forty percent of those with a driving license adjusted their driving style. Over 50% of respondents had not discussed the impact of PD on their driving ability with their healthcare professionals. Although not compulsory by Dutch law, 52% of the respondents had informed the DVLA about their diagnosis.This study highlights the need for information and support from healthcare professionals to proactively address driving in their clinical practice. The historical development of manual therapy is an area of ongoing debate impacting clinical practice, education, and practice regulations. Primary professions utilizing manual therapy include chiropractic, manual medicine, osteopathy, and physiotherapy. A survey was developed to explore perceptions, experiences, and opinions across professions, and was disseminated globally. It was completed by 194 individuals. Results demonstrated this topic is of significance with over 80% reporting that knowledge of historical development informs professional identity. Of the respondents, 64% had over 20 years professional experience. Student participation was low (<1%). Over 95% acknowledged an ancient basis for manual therapy, with 67% emphasizing bonesetter contributions. North America was reported as the primary area for the development of modern manual therapies by all except physiotherapy, which identified Northern Europe. Osteopathy’s impact on current practice was recognized, though each profession ranked its own impact highest. Of respondents, 85% agreed there was conflict between professions over history. Thematic elements identified a shift for respondents from their initial education to a more nuanced understanding of the history over time, and an appreciation that there is not one profession that owns or developed manual therapy. Practice limitations were identified, as 19% of respondents reported limitations due to inaccurate historical understanding. The introduction of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has transformed the way university students learn. To understand the factors that affect the adoption of GenAI among university students, we proposed a comprehensive research model based on the Extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2), along with personal factors customized for GenAI. We conducted a cross-sectional survey to collect data from university students in Malaysia and China through an online questionnaire, yielding a total of 500 valid responses. The data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares method to assess the influence of various factors on GenAI adoption. Our findings reveal notable differences in the factors affecting GenAI adoption between the two countries, with the Malaysian group showing a more diverse range of influencing factors compared to the Chinese group. This study highlights the importance of considering country-specific differences when devising strategies for the adoption of GenAI. By integrating UTAUT2 with personal factors and conducting a cross-country comparative analysis, this study offers significant insights into how factors influencing GenAI adoption vary between countries. Background: Accurate variant classification and relaying reclassified results to patients is critical for hereditary cancer care delivery. Over a 5‐ to 10‐year period, 6%–15% of variants undergo reclassification. As the frequency of reclassifications increases, the issue of whether, how, when, and which providers should recontact patients becomes important but remains contentious. Methods: The authors used inductive thematic analysis to analyze open‐ended comments offered by oncologists and genetic counselors (GCs) from a large national survey. Results: Of the 634 oncologists and cancer GCs, 126 (20%) offered substantive free‐text comments. Four thematic areas emerged: 1) ambiguity over professional responsibility to recontact, 2) logistical challenges with recontact, 3) importance of inter‐institutional communication, and 4) suggested solutions. Some oncologists felt that laboratories, not them, are responsible for recontact; others believed that ordering providers/GCs were responsible; GCs readily acknowledged their own responsibility in recontact but added important caveats. Besides the lack of up‐to‐date patient contact information, providers raised unique challenges with recontact: financial instability of laboratories, lack of clinical resources, contacting family members, and accumulating burden of reclassifications. There were numerous calls for developing practice guidelines on prioritizing variants for recontact and discussion on whether duty for recontact may be fulfilled via unidirectional, low touch modalities. Potential solutions to recontact including national databases and patient facing databases were discussed. Conclusions: The authors confirm previous themes of stakeholder opinions and add previously unreported contextual details to qualify those themes. Clarifying provider responsibilities through professional guidelines for reclassification and recontact addressing the subthemes identified here will better serve all constituencies. Depressive symptoms are prevalent in adolescents. We aimed to investigate the association between body image and depressive symptoms, and how Body Mass Index (BMI) affects this. Survey data from 2017 with 9963 9th-grade Danish adolescents. Information from the survey about the exposure, body image, was divided into 3 categories: too fat, too thin, and adequate. Depressive symptoms, was measured with Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale for Children (CES-DC4). BMI was categorized as underweight, normal weight and overweight. We used logistic regression and examined for effect modification by sex and BMI and adjusted for self-esteem and bullying. An association was found between body image and depressive symptoms, when adjusting for BMI, sex, self-esteem, and bullying. The association was strongest for adolescents feeling too fat compared with adolescents feeling adequate OR:1.61(1.45–1.78), for adolescents feeling to thin compared to adequate: OR:1.21 (1.06–1.37). No effect modification by either BMI or sex was found, but those who perceive their bodies in contrast to their reported BMI faced the highest odds of depressive symptoms, and the results were confounded by self-esteem and bullying, that reduced the estimates after adjusting. This is a cross-sectional study with limited information regarding drop-out, with risk of selection bias. We found an association between negative body image and depressive symptoms among Danish adolescents. This confirms previous studies and is a relevant aspect to adolescents' mental health, especially the contrast between BMI and perceived body image, and the confounding by self-esteem and bulling, with potential for prevention. • This study found an association between negative body image and depressive symptoms among Danish adolescents. • Both feeling too fat and too thin was associated with depressive symptoms, but the highest estimates were found by those who interpret themselves opposite of their BMI. • The association was confounded by bullying, self-esteem, sex, and BMI, but only for those who interpret themselves as too fat. • Whereas many initiatives in Danish school has been targeting bullying, it may also be relevant to think of methods to enhance the adolescent's self-esteem in order to prevent depressive symptoms related to body image. Background: Podoconiosis is an underreported lymphoedema whose distribution is uncertain at global level and within endemic countries. Previous work has identified countries with historical evidence of podoconiosis, but which do not currently report cases. Podoconiosis may persist in these countries or have been eliminated due to socioeconomic development. Here we describe two different approaches used to clarify podoconiosis endemicity status in Guatemala and in Idukki District (Kerala State, India). Methods: Two different epidemiological approaches were used by different research teams, determined by the available resources and contextual factors in the two settings. In Guatemala, where lymphoedema cases are routinely recorded in the health information system, 102 municipalities with suspected cases, historical evidence of podoconiosis, high poverty rates, or environmental suitability for the disease were visited. Active case searches were conducted from July 2016 to October 2018, and suspected cases were clinically examined to confirm or rule out podoconiosis. In Idukki, where lymphoedema cases were not routinely recorded, a population-based prevalence survey for lymphoedema was conducted from September to December 2022, covering 13,664 individuals aged 15 years and older. Results: Both approaches were effective at clarifying podoconiosis endemicity. In Guatemala, 20 cases with lower limb swelling were investigated. Podoconiosis was ruled out in all cases, and filarial lymphoedema was suspected in three. In Idukki District, 105 cases of lower limb swelling were identified. None was confirmed to have podoconiosis, with post-surgical lymphoedema and hypertension being the most common diagnoses. Active filarial infection was identified in two cases in Idukki District. Conclusions: These investigations provide evidence that podoconiosis is currently non-endemic in Guatemala and in Idukki District in India. They also demonstrate that population-based surveys and targeted case searches both provide effective ways to explore disease endemicity in areas where this is uncertain. The most appropriate approach depends on a combination of contextual and research-based factors, including evidence for endemicity, resources available, and geographical, population, and health system factors. Because of the lack of specific recommendations concerning cardiac risk stratification before vascular surgery, appropriate decisions remain individual. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the perioperative cardiac management in vascular surgery in Germany. Methods: This article is based on a survey from 2018 of heads of German vascular surgical departments or units regarding their experience with perioperative cardiac management. The questionnaire asked about the experience with preoperative cardiac evaluation and its extension, awareness of perioperative myocardial ischemia, the art of postoperative monitoring and the routine use of the best medical treatment. Results: In total, 62% of responders agreed that perioperative myocardial ischemia is a relevant postoperative problem in their clinic after open abdominal aortic surgery, while 47% stated the same after vascular surgery (VS) like carotid endarterectomy, peripheral arterial surgery or EVAR. Preoperative cardiological evaluations are performed routinely by 87% of responders before open abdominal aortic surgery and by 42% before VS. Preoperative cardiac evaluation included cardiac echography in 92% and stress diagnostics (stress echography, stress ECG) in 38%. Routine preoperative cardiac catheterisation is performed in 4% before OAS and only 0.5% before VS. In addition, 79% of participants initiate acetylsalicylic acid routinely and 68% use statins preoperatively. The serum troponin diagnostic test in asymptomatic patients was routinely applied by 19% of responders after OAS and by 6% after VS. Conclusion: Perioperative myocardial ischemia is considered a relevant problem, primarily after aortic surgery. The preoperative cardiac stress diagnostics among vascular surgeons does not seem to be sufficiently widespread. The study population consisted of 215 shift‐work nurses employed in tertiary or general hospitals in Korea. Data were collected in January 2024.Patient safety management activities had a positive effect on the pace and amount of work, emotional workload, and mental workload, and a negative effect on work organization (interruption). The perceived importance of patient safety management negatively moderated the effects of perceived patient safety management activities on emotional workload and work organization.This study clarifies the relationship between patient safety activities and each aspect of nurses’ workload. The additional demands on nurses due to patient safety management activities should be considered when measuring their workloads and determining adequate nurse staffing levels.To manage the burden of nurses’ work demands effectively, it is essential to maintain adequate staffing levels and continuously monitor the patient safety climate. Purpose Materials and Methods Results Conclusion To investigate antibiotic usage practices in ophthalmic surgeries in Germany.An online questionnaire was sent to veterinary surgeons (general veterinarians and veterinarians with additional qualification in ophthalmology) inquiring about their antibiotic preferences, administration methods, and factors affecting antibiotic usage in ophthalmic surgical procedures.A total of 417 questionnaires were analyzed. Postoperative antibiotics (systemic/topical in percent when used) were used all or most of the time by 69% of veterinarians following enucleation (99/6), by 62% after eyelid surgery (54/69), by 68% after third eyelid (TEL) surgery (19/92) and by 80% after keratectomy (6/99). The most commonly used systemic antibiotic was amoxicillin with clavulanic acid and the most commonly used topical antibiotic was chloramphenicol.WHO “watch‐group” antibiotics were infrequently administered systemically but frequently utilized topically; including in 13% of eyelid surgery, 15% of TEL surgery, and 35% of keratectomies. Factors influencing antibiotic use included fear of complications (67%), personal experience (63%), diagnostic uncertainty (21%), and owner expectations (9%). Participants following institutional guidelines used fewer antibiotics in enucleations (p = .002) and were less likely to choose fluoroquinolones post‐eyelid surgery (p = .044).The potential for reducing antibiotic use following ophthalmic soft tissue surgery is significant. Addressing barriers such as concerns about postoperative complications and the reliance on individual clinical experience, the implementation of standardized guidelines could facilitate a shift toward more judicious antibiotic practices. Background and Aim Methods Results Conclusions Celiac disease (CeD) is increasingly diagnosed but significant disparities exist in awareness, practices, resources, and legislation worldwide. We conducted a global online survey with CeD experts to assess this disparity internationally.A 55 questions survey encompassing nine domains relevant to CeD care (awareness, gluten‐free [GF] foods availability/cost/quality, GF labeling, CeD dietician availability, insurance for CeD patients, medical training, research funding, patient support groups, and unmet needs) was generated and sent to CeD experts worldwide electronically. Countries were stratified based on per capita income as high‐income (HIC) and lower‐income countries (LIC) (including upper‐middle‐, lower‐middle‐, and low‐income countries). Survey responses were summarized as a single score using principal component analysis.Valid responses were obtained from 131(37.4%) [HIC: 71; LIC: 60] of contacted CeD experts from 63 countries. Compared with HIC, LIC experts perceived worse availability (HIC:80% vs LIC: 47%; P < 0.001), quality (52% vs 20%; P < 0.001), and legislation for labeling of GF foods (82% vs 37%; P < 0.001), with unfavorable reimbursement policies (27% vs 12%; P = 0.002), subsidies (32% vs 13%; P < 0.001), and insurance (76% vs 43%; P < 0.001) for CeD patients. LIC also lacked awareness about CeD among general physicians (69% vs 32%; P < 0.001), trained celiac dieticians (39% vs 12%; P = 0.002), and active CeD patient support groups (93% vs 50%; P < 0.001). All experts believed that GF foods were costly (94% vs 87%), frequently contaminated (27% vs 32%), and unfavorably taxed (97% and 93%). The experts agreed on key unmet needs and better research funding. Overall CeD preparedness score (median 58.3 vs 33.0; P < 0.001) was also associated with income.The present survey highlights the opinion of global experts on the challenges, opportunities, and preparedness related to CeD and differences worldwide by income. Introduction Methods Results Conclusion The purpose of this work was to determine the current publication output of Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists radiation oncologists (ROs) to serve as a baseline contributing to future assessment of the effectiveness of the College's Research Action Plan 2024–26.An online survey was sent to all ROs in the College's member database in March–April 2024 requesting a list of publications between 2022 and 2023. A PubMed search was performed to cross‐check the self‐reported publications. Given the low response rate (8%), an additional PubMed search was performed for the non‐responders. The primary outcomes were publication proportions and rates, and the secondary outcomes were demographic correlates (gender, country, seniority).There were 536 eligible ROs (56% males; 80% practicing in Australia; median 12.4 years post‐Fellowship) with 1,012 unique publications identified. The proportions of ROs with at least one publication in any‐, first‐ and last‐author positions averaged 45%, 15% and 17% per year, respectively. On multivariable analysis, there were statistically significant differences in publications by seniority (higher proportions of last‐authorships but lower proportions of first‐authorships, for those ≥5 years post‐Fellowship) and by country (lower any‐, and last‐authorships for New Zealand [NZ] than Australia or Singapore).The mean numbers of any‐, first‐ and last‐authorships were 1.6, 0.18 and 0.29 per RO per year, respectively. ABSTRACT Background Methods Results Conclusion Quality maternity care is known to improve a range of maternal and neonatal outcomes. The Lancet Series on Midwifery's Quality Maternal and Newborn Care (QMNC) Framework is a high‐level synthesis of the global evidence on quality maternity care. Initial qualitative work demonstrated the Framework's adaptability in evaluating service user and provider perceptions of the quality of maternity care. However, evaluating services at scale requires a survey instrument. This paper reports the validation of the QMNC Framework index (QMNCFi), a five‐part survey for the evaluation of maternity care across diverse settings.International online English language survey of women who had given birth in the previous year in Australia, Ghana, India and the United Kingdom (UK). It was distributed through service user networks (UK and Australia) and at postnatal clinics (Ghana and India). All forms were completed online. Test–retest was conducted to assess reliability.Five hundred and forty mothers completed the survey (Australia 136; Ghana 131; India 153; UK 120). Construct validity: Cronbach's α in 12 of the survey's 13 sections ranged from 0.795 to 0.986; for the remaining section the alpha was 0.594. Reliability: 55 participants completed the QMNCFi a second time. Intraclass correlation coefficient results ranged from 0.657 to 0.939 across the 13 sections. Field researchers in Ghana and India reported that the survey was easily understood and completed.This survey has shown that, across diverse contexts, the QMNCFi is a valid, reliable, and comprehensive tool for measuring service user perceptions of the quality of care over time. Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) is a crucial strategy that presents a range of benefits at both technical and organizational levels. It involves the integration of collaborative methods that facilitate the sharing, centralization, and harmonization of product information, while also streamlining the processes of information exchange. This study serves as an initial endeavor to introduce PLM within the cottage industry by examining the integration of PLM and the resulting organizational transformations. The research follows a structured three-step methodology. Initially, a comprehensive literature review was conducted to explore the concept under investigation. Subsequently, a survey is carried out within the Moroccan social economy sector to identify prevalent challenges. The survey sample comprises 500 workshops from diverse regions and sectors. An analysis of the results using SPSS and Excel software reveals that organizational and management issues constitute the primary obstacles faced by the sector, representing 40% of the total challenges. Notably, production-related challenges emerge as the most significant, accounting for 68.89% of the total challenges in the sector. In the final step, the ceramics sector is chosen as the focal industry, and a VBA Excel-based tool is developed to address the identified issues. This tool incorporates four essential functionalities -user management, order management, complaints management, and cost management- that are currently lacking in the sector, facilitating organizational change management. The proposed functionalities are subsequently implemented by two pilot ceramics companies. Purpose: County-level hospitals in China constitute a vital component of the healthcare system, delivering essential medical services, emergency care, and specialized treatments, particularly in oncology. This study aimed to comprehensively evaluate the current status of cancer diagnosis and treatment in county hospitals and assess their overall capacity. Methods: A nationwide cross-sectional survey by the China Anti-cancer Association (CACA) from February to May 2023 assessed cancer diagnosis and treatment in mainland China's county hospitals. Using a multi-center approach, a fifty-five-question questionnaire was administered to oncology professionals and management staffs, focusing on hospital facilities, oncology specialists, cancer cases, treatment capabilities, and healthcare collaboration. Questionnaire reliability and validity were established in a 2022 national survey. Participants, aged 18 or older, were recruited through purposive sampling, receiving self-administered questionnaires for confidentiality. SAS 9.4 software facilitated statistical analysis. Results: The study encompassed 76 county-level medical institutions, with 82.9% of them featuring established oncology departments providing comprehensive cancer care, including early screening, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term follow-up. Notably, a total of 56.6% of the institutions surveyed implemented programs for cancer screening and early diagnosis. A significant proportion of advanced cancer patients received treatment and follow-up at the county level. Persistent disparities in medical insurance policies at the county level were identified as a continuing challenge. Furthermore, 82.9% of hospitals had cultivated collaborative relationships with higher-level institutions to enhance patient care quality and treatment capacity. The study revealed a 56.6% shortage of remote collaboration platforms in these hospitals. The need for a patient-centered approach in county hospitals was underscored. Conclusion: While county-level hospitals face challenges, such as a shortage of specialized oncologists and advanced resources, they exhibit progress in standardizing cancer care to enhance diagnosis and treatment in rural areas. Introduction: Neurosonology is a vital paraclinical investigation in modern neurology. However, access to education and certification in neurosonology for neurology residents and young specialists in Europe is challenging, and comprehensive data regarding this topic are scarce. Information regarding difficulties in neurosonology training across Europe may help bring this topic under the spotlight and act as a call for the harmonization of curricula across the continent. Methods: We performed an online survey targeting European neurology residents and young specialists, focusing on neurosonology training and certification. The survey was conducted between May and September 2023 and received responses from 282 participants representing 37 European countries. Results: There were disparities in neurosonology training during residency, with 6 (16.2%) out of 37 countries reporting a dedicated curriculum. The respondents expressed an overall lack of satisfaction with theoretical knowledge (rating their experience as very poor 28.0%, poor 20.2%, neutral 25.9%, good 19.3%, and very good 6.6%) and practical skills gained during their training (rating their experience as very poor 30.9%, poor 18.9%, neutral 22.6%, good 18.1%, and very good 9.5%). A total of 282 respondents (5.7%), 16 held a national certification in neurosonology, claiming obstacles such as high costs of certification and a limited number of certifying centers. Discussion: This survey reveals significant variations in neurosonology training across Europe, indicating difficulties in obtaining certification. Despite the increasing importance of neurosonology, many neurologists feel inadequately prepared and lack practical training during residency, emphasizing the need for better and more standardized access. Conclusion: The survey underscores challenges and disparities in neurosonology training and certification in Europe. Standardization of curricula and increased awareness about available certifications are crucial to address these issues. Background: Organizational turnover exacerbates the shortage of nurses in the global workforce. However, no study has yet explored how deep structure usage—nurses' integration of electronic patient records into nursing practice delivery—reduces their turnover intention and moderates the impact of affective, continuance, and normative professional commitment on their turnover intention. Aims: To ascertain (1) the linkage between the deep structure usage of electronic patient records and nurses' organizational turnover intention and (2) the moderating role of deep structure usage on the associations between elements of commitment (affective, continuance, and normative) and turnover intention. Methods: Using a cross‐sectional survey and proportionate random sampling by ward unit, we collected data from 417 full‐time nurses via a self‐administered questionnaire. We performed hierarchical regression analyses to test the study hypotheses. Results: Deep structure usage was not directly related to organizational turnover intention (β = −0.07, p = 0.06). However, the results suggested that deep structure usage may enhance the effect of high affective commitment on nurses' organizational turnover intention (β = −0.09, p = 0.04), while potentially mitigating the effect of low continuance commitment on organizational turnover intention (β = 0.10, p = 0.01). Conclusions: Deep structure usage of electronic patient records helps to ease nurses' workload and facilitates their retention, which is particularly due to their affective commitment (attachment) but not their continuance commitment (switching costs). Implications for Nursing Management: Nursing management may advise hospital management that medical records systems need to be improved and fully embedded for nursing care delivery, as a more in‐depth use of these systems can help to retain nurses. Tele-support in breastfeeding can be defined as any support provided by a service that connects health workers and/or lactation consultants with breastfeeding parents through video visits, although a telephone contact with the breastfeeding mother remains the first method of remote breastfeeding support. The tele-support in breastfeeding has increased significantly during the SARS-CoV2 pandemic worldwide and, given its effectiveness, may be maintained also after the pandemic. The Italian Society of Neonatology on the basis of: 1) two focus group studies on the tele-support in breastfeeding conducted in Italy with 11 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurses and 10 neonatologists, respectively, 2) a national survey on tele-support in breastfeeding addressing the Italian Neonatal Intensive Care Units, and 3) a review of the available experiences and literature, has provided a Position Statement, limitedly to the individual tele-support in breastfeeding. The Italian Society of Neonatology states that: 1) the tele-support in breastfeeding can be used when a consultation in person is not shortly available and may allow to select those situations that require an in-person visit; 2) the organization of a tele-support in breastfeeding session requires the use of a competent, dedicated healthcare staff (specifically trained and/or with adequate experience) and an appropriate methodology while preparing, running and concluding the support session. According to Italian Society of Neonatology the tele-support in breastfeeding may be an effective intervention to promote breastfeeding as a complementary method to the in-person assistance and should be possibly provided in an integrated manner by the Community Health Services and the Maternity Hospital. AbstractVirtual reality (VR) and three-dimensional (3D) digital technologies have significantly influenced various fields in recent years, including medicine and dentistry, as they retain depth and spatial information. This pilot study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of dental professionals in Gujarat regarding the effectiveness of VR and 3D digital tools in forensic dental education and research. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted through an online self-administered questionnaire consisting of 20 questions circulated among dental practitioners in Gujarat, India. Out of total 161 responses, 124 were from dental professionals and 37 were received from dental postgraduate students. The findings indicated limited knowledge of these technologies among both dental professionals and postgraduate students. The VR and 3D technologies were practiced by limited specialists, such as orthodontists, prosthodontists, forensic odontologist, oral-maxillofacial radiologist, whereas other specialists were not sensitized and trained in these technologies. With the ongoing development of technologies, there is no doubt that VR and 3D technologies can greatly aid in education and research, especially in this new era; encouraging new researchers to incorporate this high-potential modality and transform current practices in India and globally. Despite psychedelic microdosing being a growing practice, the research on the topic is still in its infancy. While several studies have described the characteristics, motivations and practices of microdosers, the differences between individuals that only microdose and those that use both micro and macrodoses of psychedelics remain unexplored. In an online survey, we collected data of 6193 psychedelic consumers of which 2488 were microdosers of up to 11 different classical and atypical psychedelics. In comparison to respondents that use both microdoses and macrodoses, exclusive microdosers were older in age (46.4 vs. 42.0 years), had a larger proportion of females (68.4% vs. 44.7%), were non-Caucasian (25.4% vs. 14.7%), urban residents (43.9% vs. 38.5%), and had a lower average lifetime use of non-psychedelic substances (3.8 vs. 4.7 substances). Most consumers (52.5%) microdosed psychedelics multiple times a month, commonly using psilocybin (74.5%), LSD (34.4%), and ketamine (15.8%), with most users (64.6%) not testing their substances. The most common reason for microdosing was improving general wellbeing (73.0%), and psychedelics were used for treating several physical and mental health conditions. Understanding these risks requires valid assessment of the daily quantity of delta‐9‐tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) consumed and its relation to consequences. This study characterized daily cannabis consumption using a new method for estimating milligrams of THC (mgTHC), and examined the relationship between daily mgTHC and CUD severity in a large national sample of daily consumers.US adult (aged 18+ years) daily cannabis consumers (n = 4134) completed a comprehensive online survey of cannabis consumption patterns (e.g. frequency, quantity, product types, potencies, administration methods) and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th edition (DSM‐5) CUD criteria.The primary exposure was past‐week daily mgTHC consumption, calculated from survey responses to queries about product type, amount and potency consumed and including adjustments for puff size and loss of THC from specific methods of administration. The primary outcomes were (1) number of CUD criteria (range = 0–11) and (2) CUD severity categories: none, mild, moderate, severe.Median daily consumption was ~130 mgTHC, with substantial variability (25% ≤ 50 mg and 25% ≥ 290 mg). On average, participants endorsed 2.5 CUD criteria, and 65% met criteria for CUD (39% mild, 18% moderate, 8% severe). Greater daily mgTHC predicted higher CUD criteria count [betalog(mgTHC) = 0.50, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.267–0.734] and higher odds of mild [log odds ratio (logOR) = 0.238, 95% CI = 0.184–0.292], moderate (logOR = 0.303, 95% CI = 0.232–0.374) or severe (logOR = 0.335, 95% CI = 0.236–0.435) CUD.Among daily consumers of cannabis, there appears to be a positive relationship between the daily quantity of cannabis consumed (measured in milligrams of delta‐9‐tetrahydrocannabinol) and both the risk and severity of cannabis use disorder. ABSTRACT Aim Materials and Methods Results Conclusion The aim of this study was to systematically review the relevant literature on teaching professionalism in dental curricula and report the relevant data from a survey of members of the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) on the topic.We conducted a systematic review of the literature and a cross‐sectional study using an online questionnaire regarding teaching and assessment of professionalism in dental schools, members of the ADEE. The literature review identified 33 articles related to professionalism in dental curricula. The survey sent to the membership of the Association for Dental Education in Europe yielded responses from 27 European dental schools and four schools outside Europe.Various study designs were identified in the review, and the main themes discussed included teaching/pedagogy, ethics/humanities, core domains and assessment of professionalism. Twenty schools reported having specific courses dedicated to professionalism, while the format varied, including entire modules, separate learning outcomes or unit structures. Ethics, communication, law/legal framework/deontology, teamworking and management/leadership were among the common topics taught under the banner of professionalism. Many schools reported increases or no changes in hours, staffing, themes/topics covered and weight in the curriculum for professionalism over the last decade.The paper provides valuable insights into the current state of professionalism education in dental curricula and offers directions for enhancing its effectiveness and relevance in preparing future dental professionals. Introduction Methods Results Conclusion The techniques employed in palliative radiation therapy are highly variable, ranging from basic (2D/3D‐conformal) to more advanced (beam modulation and stereotactic techniques), and their relative use has not previously been formally investigated at a national level. The purpose of this work was to assess the current utilisation of palliative techniques and technologies in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).A voluntary, anonymous, internet‐based, RANZCR approved survey was offered to all practising radiation oncology (RO) Fellows in ANZ. Participants selected their preferred methods of managing patients in five case studies involving bone, brain, lung metastases and locally advanced lung cancer.From October 2022 to February 2023, 146 of 485 eligible participants (30%) responded. In all, 61% and 81% would treat an uncomplicated breast cancer solitary spinal metastasis with stereotactic body radiation therapy routinely and ideally, respectively; 11% and 32% would treat a solitary lung cancer brain metastasis with dedicated stereotactic radiosurgery routinely and ideally; 36% and 56% would treat multiple low‐volume brain metastases with a stereotactic technique routinely and ideally. There was negligible difference in the routine and preferred use of advanced technologies for a solitary bowel cancer lung metastasis; 69% and 77% would treat a locally advanced primary lung cancer with an advanced technique routinely and ideally. Relative to Australia, NZ ROs routinely treat uncomplicated solitary spinal metastases (P < 0.001), solitary brain metastases (P < 0.001), multiple low‐volume brain metastases (P < 0.02), and locally advanced primary lung cancer (P < 0.001) more commonly with basic technologies, mainly due to limited local availability of advanced technology and departmental waiting lists.Participants generally favoured treating with advanced techniques and technologies in palliative settings, if available, but there were notable disparities between the two countries. The aim of this registered report is to investigate how the core components of subjective wellbeing, Life Satisfaction (LS) and Emotional Wellbeing (EWB), differ with respect to their relationship to antecedent factors. Seven factors are proposed that have been found in previous research to antecede LS and EWB. Social Comparisons, Meaningfulness, Economic/Social Resources, and Opportunities are hypothesized to correlate more closely with LS than EWB, while Time Use, Hassles/Uplifts, and Neuroticism are hypothesized to correlate more strongly with EWB than LS. A combined online and paper-and-pencil survey was administered to a representative sample of 974 Swedish citizens aged 15 years or older. LS and EWB were measured by self-report methods that have been developed and used in previous research. Index measures were constructed from self-reports of each antecedent factor by means of ratings on two scales developed in this study. Multivariate regression and relative weight analyses confirmed two of the hypotheses in showing that Economic/Social Resources and Opportunities were significantly more strongly related with LS than EWB. Of those hypothesized to correlate more strongly with EWB than LS, support was obtained for Neuroticism. Social Comparisons, Meaningfulness, Time Use, and Hassles/Uplifts did not have different relationships with LS and EWB. The results confirm that to some extent antecedent factors are differentially associated with LS and EWB, thus contributing to a better understanding of the antecedents of the cognitive and affective components of subjective wellbeing. Introduction: This study investigated the quality of sleep in a sample of individuals from Southern Italy after the major waves of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of evaluating how sleep patterns changed. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between March 2022 and January 2023 and involved adults who had a COVID-19 infection, who were invited to complete a self-administered online questionnaire. Results: A total of 408 individuals participated in the survey. Overall, 66.4% had a reduction in social relations; 72.1% had an increase in the use of social media; and 86%, 77.2%, and 71.1% reported an extremely severe level of anxiety, stress, and depression, respectively. Almost all of the respondents had a Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index score (PSQI) ≥5, indicating poor sleep quality. Subjects with a severe or extremely severe depression score, a severe or extremely severe stress score, who had a job, and who had someone close who died because of a COVID-19 infection were more likely to have a high PSQI global score. The use of sleep medication in the past months was significantly higher in those who were older, who had a job, who had a COVID-19 infection in the first and second waves, who had someone close who died from COVID-19, and who did not have changes in social relationships during the pandemic. Moreover, participants with severe or extremely severe depression scores, with severe or extremely severe stress scores, who were women, and who were older had troubles staying awake while engaging in social activities during the past month. Conclusion: The results bring to light the high prevalence of poor sleep quality among individuals who were infected with SARS-CoV-2. Future research is needed to understand whether these disturbances are still present in the endemic period and whether it is necessary to investigate further determinants that have affected and/or are affecting sleep quality. Introduction: Genetic counseling and testing in psychiatry warrant attention, but research results on attitude, knowledge, personal experience and interest are limited. There are only a few studies that have compared the opinions of the general population and experts regarding genetic counseling and genetic testing in mental illness. Methods: This study aimed to investigate these gaps through a cross-sectional survey conducted in Austria, involving a sample of the web-active population, representative according to gender, age and geographical location (n=1,000, 24.5% of them had a psychiatric diagnosis), and experts (n=145, 83.4% of them psychiatrists). Two questionnaires were developed. Pearson chi-square statistics were used to compare responses, and regression analyses were employed to measure the strength of psycho-sociodemographic influences on answers. Results: The findings revealed that public considered genetic counseling to be more important than experts did (68.8% versus 54.2%; Pearson chi-square 12.183; df=1; p<0.001). The general population believed that genetic testing is useful for diagnosing mental disorders, which contrasted with experts' opinions (67.9% versus 17.2%; Pearson chi-square 137.236; df=1; p<0.001). Both groups agreed on the potential benefits of pharmacogenetic testing (79% versus 80%). A small number of individuals from the public had sought genetic counseling (8%), and only a minority of experts had specific training and experience in this field (28%). Discussion: This is the first survey study on the topic conducted in Austria, with limited international studies available. Austrian experts place less value on genetic counseling compared to their counterparts in other countries. Despite recognized importance placed on genetic counseling and testing, utilization rates remain low. The value of pharmacogenetics is predicted to increase in the future. Consequently, it is crucial for medical training programs to emphasize the significance of genetic counseling and enhance the understanding of genetic aspects related to mental illnesses to enable experts to provide adequate psychoeducation and personalized care to the extent possible to patients and their families. Background: Elite athletes are exposed to many different sport-specific stressors that may put them at particular risk for mental health symptoms and disorders. E-mental health interventions could be a feasible option to support elite athletes in need. The aim of the present study was to assess the acceptance of e-mental health interventions among elite athletes and explore its underlying drivers and barriers. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with N = 382 elite athletes. Of these, N = 275 (71.99%, 167 females) were included in the statistical analyses. The impact of various sociodemographic, sport-related and medical characteristics on acceptance was assessed. EHealth-related data and acceptance of e-mental health interventions were examined using a modified assessment based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). Results: Overall, the acceptance of e-mental health interventions in elite athletes can be classified as high (M = 3.69 SD = 0.97). In the UTAUT regression model sex, financial situation, depression symptoms, digital confidence, digital overload as well as the UTAUT predictors performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence predicted acceptance significantly. Conclusions: The UTAUT model has proven to be a valuable instrument in predicting of acceptance of e-mental health interventions in elite athletes. Given the strong association between acceptance and future use, new interventions should focus on the explored factors to establish effective e-mental health interventions for elite athletes. Introduction: The Implementation Research Logic Model (IRLM) aids users in combining, organizing, and specifying the relationships between important constructs in implementation research. The goal of the IRLM is to improve the rigor, reproducibility, and transparency of implementation research projects. The article describing the IRLM was published September 25, 2020 (Implement Sci , Vol 15); it has since been highly cited and included as a required element in multiple funding opportunity announcements from federal agencies. The proliferation of IRLM use across dissemination and implementation research projects and practice provides an excellent opportunity to examine applications across a variety of different contexts. This protocol will result in a description of the impact of the IRLM on the field of dissemination and implementation science and guidance on refinements to the IRLM to increase its utility and impact through (1) a citation analysis, (2) a scoping review, and (3) user surveys and interviews. Methods and analysis: This protocol follows the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for scoping review reporting guidelines (PRISMA-ScR). We plan to conduct a citation search and analysis of the Smith et al. 2020 article and a scoping review. The review search will be conducted in Medline, Embase, CINAHL Complete, Cochrane Library, APA PsycINFO4, ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global, Scopus and Web of Science Core Collection., and grey literature will be searched to identify studies that use alternative logic models for implementation research. A survey will be developed from the findings of the scoping review and administered to individuals who used the IRLM. Semi-structured interviews will then be conducted with a sample of survey respondents to provide an opportunity for sequential mixed-methods analysis to achieve a deeper understanding of needed IRLM refinements and recommendations. Ethics and dissemination: Ethics approval for the scoping review and citation analysis is not applicable as only data from published literature will be used and no original data will be collected. For the survey, IRB will be completed once items are developed from the results of the scoping review and citation analysis. Knowledge and awareness of dry mouth management varied significantly between countries (p < 0.05). Overall, 34.3% of participants demonstrated good knowledge, while 53.7% had moderate knowledge. Regarding management awareness, 55.4% had good awareness and 35.5% had moderate awareness. A majority (69.2%) showed good knowledge of common signs, symptoms, and consequences of dry mouth. Significant predictors of better knowledge and awareness included the country of practice and attendance at continuing education courses on dry mouth.The findings suggest that dentists in the surveyed countries require improved education on dry mouth and its management. Introduction: Surface electromyography (sEMG) is a non-invasive technique that records muscle electrical activity using skin-surface electrodes, aiding physiotherapists in assessing and treating muscular and neuromuscular conditions. Despite its potential, sEMG remains underutilized in Italy. This study aims to evaluate Italian physiotherapists' knowledge and use of sEMG, specifically among those who completed the Master's Degree in Rehabilitation of Musculoskeletal and Rheumatological Disorders at the University of Genoa. Methods: This cross-sectional study, approved by the University of Genoa's Ethical Committee, utilized an anonymous web survey to gather data from physiotherapy students in the master's program. The survey, developed based on the International Handbook of Survey Methodology, consisted of 12 questions covering demographics, previous sEMG experience, the importance of sEMG in practice and research, and educational satisfaction. Data collection spanned from January to May 2024, with a response rate of 72.7% (93 participants). Descriptive analysis was used to summarize the data. Results: The average age of respondents was 26.5 years, with 55.9% being male. Only 3.2% reported using sEMG in their practice. While 46.2% considered sEMG moderately important for practice, 40.9% deemed it extremely important for research. Most participants felt their undergraduate education inadequately prepared them for using sEMG, with 81.7% rating their preparation as insufficient. Although the master's program improved sEMG knowledge, 66.7% indicated no significant proficiency gain. Conclusion: Italian physiotherapists view sEMG mainly as a research tool rather than a clinical one. The findings highlight the need for curriculum reforms to enhance both theoretical and practical sEMG education. Simplifying and standardizing sEMG protocols and integrating sEMG training into physiotherapy curricula are essential steps to better prepare clinicians for its clinical application. Background: Dysphagia services have only recently been formalised within Chinese health services. There has been no comprehensive evaluation of all aspects of dysphagia services practice in China. Aims: To provide a profile for the dysphagia practice in China by assessing various facets of dysphagia services. Methods and Procedures: This is a survey study carried out from December 2022 to May 2023 online in China. One hundred fifty‐nine respondents comprising doctors, nurses or therapists involved in the field of dysphagia rehabilitation completed a questionnaire via Sojump. The questionnaire included dichotomous (e.g., yes/no) and multiple‐choice questions related to participants' general information and their provision of dysphagia management services. Results were analysed descriptively and the differences among different levels of hospitals were analysed. Outcomes and Results: Approximately two‐thirds of hospitals (67.9%) started dysphagia services within the last 5 years. A significant difference in the initiation of dysphagia rehabilitation was observed across different hospital levels (χ2 = 32.70;p < 0.001). Routine dysphagia screening was a standard practice in most hospitals (71.7%), with the most frequently employed screening method being the water swallow test (95.6%). Clinical swallowing evaluation emerged as the preferred initial assessment method (80.5%) and the most utilised assessment method (91.8%). Video fluoroscopic swallow study and flexible endoscopic evaluation swallowing were used by 22.7% and 12.6% of respondents. A significant difference was observed in the choice of assessment methods across hospitals of different levels (χ2 = 43.397; p < 0.001). The majority of respondents (53.5%) primarily employed rehabilitation as the main intervention method (76%–100%). Most respondents indicated that they would reevaluate patients after treatment (74.8%) and reported routine follow‐up with patients (60.4%). Conclusions and Implications: Despite the relatively recent development of dysphagia management in China, the practice patterns uncovered in this study are broadly consistent with Chinese guidelines and consensus. However, the use of instrumental assessments remains low, resulting in a lack of objective evaluation of patient conditions and outcomes. There is a need for policy and resource support in the field of dysphagia rehabilitation in China.
