Bu makalenin odak noktası, makro ekonomik bir bakışa açısıyla iktisadi düşünce tarihi boyunca geliştirilen iktisat teorilerini, bunları şekillendiren düşünürlerin toplumsal refahın ve barışın sağlanmasındaki rolünü ve bu süreçteki iktisadi gelişmeleri karşılaştırmalı bir analizle değerlendirmektir. Bu doğrultuda iktisadi düşünce ekollerinin ortaya çıkışı ve teorisyenlerin yaklaşımı değerlendirilmiştir. Böylece küreselleşen dünyada ve COVID 19 pandemisinin gölgesinde karşılaşılan ekonomik sorunlara çözüm bulunmasında bilim insanlarının ve araştırmacıların çalışmalarına katkı sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu bakımdan teorik düşünce ekollerinin nasıl ve hangi koşullar altında ortaya çıktığı bu çalışmada daha açık bir şekilde ortaya konmuştur. Bu bağlamda “klasik ekonomi”, “ulusal ekonomi” ve “küresel ekonomi” kavramları ve bu yaklaşımları geliştiren ve sınıflandıran iktisatçıların çıkış noktaları karşılaştırmalı bir analizle incelenmiştir. Adam Smith'ten sonra Ricardo, Marx ve Keynes gibi sosyal bilimciler bu alana önemli katkılarda bulunmuşlardır., The focus of this article is to evaluate the economic theories developed throughout the history of economic thought from a macroeconomic perspective, the role of the thinkers who shaped them in ensuring social welfare and peace, and the economic developments in this process with a comparative analysis. In this respect, the emergence of schools of economic thought and the approach of theorists have been evaluated. Thus, it aims to contribute to the work of scientists and researchers in finding solutions to the economic problems encountered in the globalizing world and in the shadow of the COVID 19 pandemic. In this respect, how and under which conditions the schools of theoretical thought emerged as a result of forcing it has been revealed more clearly in this study. In this context, the concepts of "classical economy", "national economy" and "global economy" and the starting points of the economists who developed and classified these approaches were examined with a comparative analysis. Classical economics is the beginning of the theoretical treatment of the nation and the interaction of different nations through economic interaction. Adam Smith's "The Wealth of Nations" is generally understood as the scientific discussion of the origins of economic theory and the understanding of economic action. After Adam Smith, social scientists such as Ricardo, Marx and Keynes made important contributions to this field.

In the neoliberal era, there has been a global trend towards increased labour market insecurity and inequality, even in countries traditionally emblematic of union strength and socio-economic security such as Sweden. In this study, I present the first ethnographic research conducted in anthropology of negotiations between the central Swedish union and employer peak bodies (known as the ‘labour market partners’). These negotiations were conducted in 2020 against the background of a political crisis and political pressure to modernise and liberalise longstanding and fundamental job security protec- tions in the Employment Protection Act (LAS). Through the lens of these negotiations, I investigate the role of the labour market partners in moderating neoliberal trends and how the partners see their relationship and role in society. I investigate, for example, why Swedish employers support unions and a system that ostensibly curbs their own power. I employ the notions of moral economy and em- bedding to look beyond economic self-interest, to the moral and institutional norms that help explain the partners’ co-operation over time and the role they see themselves as playing as guardians of the social peace. I also incorporate interview material describing diverse workers’ experiences of the current job security protections under LAS. I argue that workers’ voices and experiences reveal a parallel moral economy, where current job security protections are revealed to be important but inadequate, and that job security is a highly nebulous, ambivalent and contextual phenomenon. I argue the moral economy of job security is one of entangled reciprocity between employer, worker and the state, and I consider the proposed reforms in this context. The study shows that even in the context of increasing market- isation of labour and society, reciprocity and cooperation both at the workplace and during the LAS negotiations serve to de-commodify labour and embed the economy in various moral norms. In this way, the research contributes to the anthropological literature on embeddedness and moral economy. It also contributes to both an ethnographic and theoretical understanding of job security.

MA (Ethics), North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is endowed with natural resources to the extent that it could be one of the richest countries in the world. Nonetheless, this country is one of the poorest (in the world) with more than 70% of its population living in abject poverty. Economists, political scientists and sociologists have all been puzzled by how a country that is so rich in resources can be so abysmally underdeveloped and conflict stricken. Is a scramble for the country’s resources to blame for the conflict; or are incipient inequalities and economic injustice the primary cause; or perhaps the two are related in some way? Slants such as “greed versus grievance” or “the paradox of plenty” have animated the literature and caught the public’s imagination. This study argues that the lack of ethics in this country is the reason why all attempts to stop the organized plunder of Congolese riches and to address the economic and political crises in order to alleviate the hopeless situation always fail. A thorough consideration of the country’s history reveals the depth of this problem. Christian ethics can lead to sustainable liberation of the entire Congolese society. As such, the Christian tradition and biblical revelation should be the primary source that is tapped during the process of building new Congolese citizenship and leadership. Christian principles aiming at peaceful living and working together remain the answer to sustainable salvation of people and the social transformation of this country. Masters

With the end of the Cold War, a dramatic increase in the number of conflicts that have erupted for various reasons has prompted both statesmen and academics to develop methods and approaches to prevent, control and eventually transform such conflicts into a lasting peace. These quests have helped to create a wider knowledge about the causes, dynamics and phases of the conflicts, as well as paved way for an understanding that appropriate methods must be applied for each phase of a conflict according to its dynamics. The development of effective conflict management and analysis mechanisms requires a deep understanding of the causes and characteristic of a conflict and the application of appropriate methods to those causes. Otherwise, misreading the conflict and linking it to the wrong causes can have a great influence on the transition of the conflict from a level of non-conformity to a level of violence. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to elaborate the various approaches to conflict transformation and examine that to what extent and in which conditions these methods are effective in transforming the conflicts. Bu çalışma, kadınların seçilen operasyonlardaki rolünün kadınların siyasi ve ekonomik katılımı üzerinde somut bir etkisi olmadığını, ancak toplumsal cinsiyete dayalı güvenlik sektörü reformları üzerinde önemli bir etkiye sahip olduğu sonucuna varmıştır. Formation of a peaceful order in a post-conflict environment requires not only an end to conflict and violence, but also the provision of equality within society. Hence, the integration of human society considers gender equality to be a crucial dimension of and its lack as a major obstacle against human development. The enlarged role of peacekeeping has given rise to the expanded role of women in these operations, which can also become a facilitator of the women's inclusion in the reconstruction process in a post-conflict country. In fact, many scholars posit that there are many benefits of women's presence in peacekeeping operations such as improving the reputation of peacekeepers among local populations, establishing better relationships with locals, and providing role models in the local community. But, the literature so far does not cover empirical studies that will test these arguments. This thesis aims to contribute to this discussion by focusing on the possible role that the presence of women in UN peacekeeping operations can play in the living conditions (economic, social and political) of women in post-conflict orders. In this study, Mozambique as a case from the period before the resolution 1325, when much less attention was given to gender sensitivity within peacekeeping operations; and Sierra Leone as a case from the period after the resolution 1325 are selected to compare and contrast the impact of gender focused approach on the peace process. This study concludes that the role of women in the selected missions did not have a solid effect on the political and economic participation of women, however it had a significant influence on the gender mainstreamed security sector reforms. With a clear focus on gender mainstreaming, this study can be able to improve the understandings of gender equality as a key factor in sustainable positive peace. 142

Kolombiya Hükümeti, Kasım 2016'da solcu gerilla grubu FARC (Kolombiya Devrimci Silahlı Kuvvetleri) ile bir barış anlaşmasını resmen onayladığı zaman, 220.000 kişinin hayatını kaybetmesine ve yaklaşık 8 milyon insanın yerinden olmasına yol açan 50 yıldan fazla süren bir anlaşmazlığın sona ermesine söz verdi (Guardian, 2016). Kolombiya'daki barış umutları, Ulusal Kurtuluş Ordusu (ELN) Ekim 2017'de 102 gün süren bir ateşkes olarak adlandırılan benzer bir anlaşmanın erken belirtilerini umut ederek daha da güçlendi (Al Jazeera, 2017a). Kolombiya barışının istikrarlı ve uyumlu bir toplumun yeniden inşasında başarılı olması için hem iç hem de uluslararası düzeyde barış inşası ve yönetimine yönelik ortak politik çabalar olması gerekiyordu. Uzun süredir devam eden bir sivil çatışmada bu önemli barış komisyonculuğu ışığında, bu yazının amacı, 20. yıl dönümünde Kuzey İrlanda barış sürecinin yanı sıra ortaya çıkan Kolombiya barış anlaşmasının karşılaştırmalı bir analizini sağlamaktır. When the Government of Colombia formally ratified a peace accord in November 2016 with the left-wing guerrilla group FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia)it promised an end to more than 50 years of conflictwhich claimed the lives of 220,000 and displaced nearly 8 million people (Guardian, 2016). The hope for peace in Colombiawas further strengthened by promising early signs of a similar agreement forming as the National Liberation Army (ELN) called a 102 day truce in October 2017 (Al Jazeera, 2017a). If Colombian peace is to be successful in the rebuilding of a stable and cohesive society, it will take concerted political efforts towards peacebuilding and governance on both the domestic and international levels. In light of this significant peace brokerage in a protracted civil conflict, the aim of this paper is to provide a comparative analysis of the nascent Colombian peace agreement alongside the Northern Irish peace process on its 20th year anniversary, in order to identifysome of the key challenges faced and methods of peacebuilding which have proven successful in increasing social capital and structural stability. Over the last twenty years, Northern Ireland has been the focus of many international peacebuilding strategies and conflict research programmes, and as such offers opportunity for detailed comparative analysis against the conflict transformation journey which has only just started in Colombia. Protracted conflicts have a lasting impact on civil society creating division along ethnic or political lines, and this translates into low levels of support for state governance structures. Indeed, there is significant evidence to suggest that without government social integration interventions these divisions can become trans-generational conflicts. By using World Bank governance indicators to measure the changes in civil society after peace, acknowledging that positive performance against governance indicators correlates with a reduced capacity for conflict (Fearon, 2010), this paper identifiesthe challenges faced by post-conflict societies and proposes several effective frameworks for long-term development and peacebuilding. Several common themes emerge, including: the necessity of international stewardship during peace negotiation to lend legitimacy to the process, the need for development models focusing on conflict transformation, and lastly the use of spatial planning to combat development duality and as a long-term strategy towards social cohesion 60

Labour relations are characterized by strong (existential) conflict of interest between the employee and the employer. Therefore, labour relations must represent a legal term of the balance of interest of its entities, in order to be stable and have perspective. In other words, there is reciprocity of rights and obligations of the entities in labour relations. However, the employer is a stronger party, both legally and factually. The traditional task of labour law is to mitigate that legal and factual inequality of the employee and the employer to the extent necessary to ensure social security of employees and the employer himself, and social milieu and stability of the society as a whole. To this effect, appropriate limitations of the employer's authority are incorporated into the labour relations and appropriate principles for the operation of the system of labour relations are determined.

The modern European concept of collective labour relations is based on the social dialogue, which represents an opportunity for ensuring permanent social peace. The social dialogue is regulated by the provisions of the primary European law, conducted at the supranational level by the social partners functioning in the European social area. It is also an important model for conducting dialogue by the social partners in the EU Member States and for establishment by the authorities of particular EU Member States of the principles and procedures for the social dialogue in the labour law systems. The freedom of association, collective bargaining, social dialogue and quality of collective labour relations are the fundamental elements of the European social model. The collective bargaining as being a part of this model should promote workplace democracy, redistribution of resources, and efficiency of employment relations. However, collective agreements that may be concluded at the European level are still a novelty in the legislative system of European labour law and they do not play a role as the alternative sources of European labour law., Moderni Europos darbo santykių koncepcija grindžiama socialiniu dialogu, kuris sudaro prielaidas socialinės taikos užtikrinimui. Socialinį dialogą reglamentuojama Europos teisė, virš-valstybiniu lygiu įgyvendinama socialinių partnerių, veikiančių Europos socialinėje erdvėje. Šia koncepcija grindžiamas ir ES šalių narių socialinis dialogas bei nacionaliniai teisės principai, reglamentuojantys nacionalinio socialinio dialogo principus ir procedūras. Asociacijų laisvė, kolektyvinės derybos, socialinis dialogas ir kolektyvinių darbo santykių kokybė yra pamatiniai Europos socialinio modelio elementai. Kolektyvinės derybos, kaip vienas iš svarbiausių modelio elementų, turi skatinti darbo vietos demokratiją, išteklių perskirstymą bei efektyvius darbo santykius. Deja, kolektyvinės sutartys, kurios gali būti sudaromos Europiniu lygiu, vis dar netampa įprastine Europos darbo teisės sudėtine dalimi ir neatlieka alternatyvaus Europos darbo teisės šaltinio funkcijos.

Ġç savaĢlar ve siyasi Ģiddet anlaĢma veya ateĢkes ile sonlandırılabilir, halbuki sürdürülebilir barıĢ, savaĢtan barıĢa geçiĢ süresince çok daha fazla adım gerektirebilir. Böyle geçiĢin baĢarısı büyük ölçüde uyuĢmazlık sonrası ülkedeki ekonomik düzelmenin baĢarısına bağlıdır. Böyle bir düzenlemeyi kolaylaĢtırabilen önemli faktörlerden biri de doğrudan yabancı yatırımdır; fakat bu tür yatırımların uyuĢmazlık sonrası barıĢa olan etkisi net değildir. Bu tez, doğrudan yabancı yatırımın uyuĢmazlık sonrası barıĢ inĢaasına olan etkisini anlamak için devlet, isyancı ve yatırımcı arasındaki stratejik etkileĢimin rasyonel seçim modelini sunmaktadır. Bu modelin önermeleri Nijer, Nijerya ve Türkiye vakalarından çıkarılan gerçek hayat örnekleri ile örneklendirilmiĢtir. Son olarak, bu makale, yerel halk tarafından devletin gerçekleĢtiği yeniden bölüĢümden daha önemli olarak görülen pozitif ekonomik dıĢsallıklara sahip olan doğrudan yabancı yatırımın barıĢ için en olumlu etkiyi sağladığını ileri sürmektedir. Oysa diğer olası denge durumları, devletin bölüĢüm faaliyetleri isyancıların meĢruiyetini tehdit ediyorsa uyuĢmazlığın kısa vadede yenilenmesine yol açabileceği gibi, kısa vadede ateĢkes sürdürülüyor olsa da gizli uyuĢmazlığın Ģiddetlenmesine neden olabilir. In a large extent the success of such transition depends on the success of economic recovery of a post-conflict country. Foreign direct investment is one of the main factors that can facilitate such recovery; however, the effects of such investment on the post-conflict peace are not clear. In order to understand the effects of the foreign direct investment on post-conflict peacebuilding, this thesis presents a rational choice model of strategic interactions between the state, the rebels and a foreign investor. The propositions of the model are illustrated with real life examples derived from Niger, Nigeria and Turkey. Finally, this paper argues that the most positive impact on peace is likely to be produced by FDI with high and positive economic externalities valued by the local population even higher than the redistribution policies of the state. Other possible equilibriums, however, lead either to recurrence of conflict in the short run, in case if revenue distribution activities of the government will threat the legitimacy of rebels, or to sustenance of the truce in the short run but exacerbation of the latent conflict. Based on these finding this paper provides several policy recommendations which according to this thesis can be potentially interesting and beneficial for both investors and policy makers.Key Words: Post-Conflict, Peacebuilding, Foreign Direct Investment 91

Siyasi özerkliğe dair tartışmalar iki temel gruba odaklanmış durumda. Bir grup özellikle toplumsal, siyasi ve ekonomik çatışmaların yoğun ve özerklik talep edenlerin siyasi ve idari bir çözüm arayışında olduğu durumlarda siyasi özerkliğin etkili bir çatışma çözümü mekanizması olduğunu düşünmektedirler. Yurttaşların bulundukları yerelde kendilerini kendi kaynaklarıyla ve devletin sınırlarını değiştirmeden yönetme hakkını elde ettiği siyasi özerkliğin iki temel ayağı adem-i merkezileştirme ve güç paylaşımıdır. Diğer grup ise, özellikle bir etnik grubun bağımsızlık ve devlet kurmaya dair güçlü bir motivasyonu olduğu durumlarda, siyasi özerkliğin çatışmayı tırmandırma aracı olduğunu düşünmektedir. Özerklik literatürü ışığında, bu tez Suriye iç savaşının ortasında Ocak 2014'te ilan edilen Rojava Demokratik Özerk Yönetimi'nin doğasını incelemektedir. Suriye'de geçmişte ve şimdi yaşanan sosyo-politik ve etnik-dini çatışmaları nasıl algıladıkları ve bu çatışmaları çözmek için ne tür strateji ve politika uyguladıklarını incelemek için Cezîre Kantonu bakanları, bakan yardımcıları ve sivil toplum örgütü temsilcileriyle derinlemesine görüşmeler yapıldı. Bu çalışma, çözüm pratiklerini Rojava Demokratik Özerk Yönetimi'nin Suriye hükümetiyle (ulusal), bölgesel ve uluslararası güçlerle (uluslararası) ve sivil toplum örgütleriyle (dâhili) ilişkisi temelinde değerlendirmektedir. Bu çalışma aynı zamanda Rojava Demokratik Özerk Yönetimi'nin sosyo-politik ve etnik-dini sorunların çözümü için Toplumsal Sözleşme esasına göre özerklik içinde güç dağılımı ve Rojava'daki bütün etnik ve dini gruplara tanıdığı grup özerkliği çerçevesinde geliştirdiği politikaları ve stratejileri tartışmaktadır. Some argue that political autonomy is an effective conflict resolution mechanism especially in the settings where social, political, and economic conflicts are common and the autonomy seekers want a political and administrative resolution. Decentralization and power-sharing are two main pillars of political autonomies in which local citizens get the right to rule themselves with their own local resources without changing national borders of a state. Some others, however, discuss political autonomy as a conflict escalating tool, particularly, if an ethnic group has a strong motivation for independence and state-building. To this end, in the light of the existing literature on autonomy, this thesis investigates the nature of the Rojava Democratic Autonomy (RDA) declared in January 2014 in the midst of a civil war in Syria. In-depth interviews were conducted with the heads and deputies of official bodies and civil society organizations in Cezîre (Jazeera) Canton of RDA to investigate how they perceive both the past and ongoing socio-political and ethnoreligious conflicts in Syria, and what strategies and policies they implement to resolve them. The thesis evaluates the resolution practices based on RDA's relation with the Syrian government (national), regional and international powers (international) and with its civil society organizations (domestic). The thesis also discusses the RDA policies and strategies for solving the socio-political and ethnoreligious conflicts through power-sharing and by providing group autonomies to all ethnic and religious groups based on the Social Contract drafted by members of all ethnic and religious groups in Rojava. The paper presents case studies which are the basis for analysis of the state of two aspects of industrial relations in Serbia - industrial and social peace on one side and industrial and social conflicts on another. This analysis points out that social peace has innumerable comparative advantages over industrial and social conflicts, that social peace is incomparably politically, economically, socially and morally cheaper than industrial and social conflicts, and the creation of social peace is key issue of strategy and future of the world we live in. Social peace is of particular importance for transition economies including Serbia. There is direct proportion between the success of transition, i.e. social reforms it assumes and social peace, i.e. how conflicting the society is. .

In Latin America, environmental conflicts have their very own nature, characteristics and dynamics, hence the reason why we need to develop management processes and resolutions that are set within a framework of peace, i.e., a 'social peace' (Gaia). This, in turn, enables the right elements of justice to be put into place. The peace process is, as a result of this action, both solid and long-lasting. Conversely, we have seen how many environmental conflict resolutions have failed in their final objective in the past, i.e., in not achieving peace. A peacebuilding model for the environment (Gaia) should therefore contain elements of foundational support and action in environmental conflict resolution processes, so that they become sustainable over time, benefit all the parties involved, and provide access to natural resources in a sustainable manner. En América Latina, los conflictos ambientales tienen su propia naturaleza, características y dinámicas, las cuales nos deben llevar a plantear procesos de manejo y resolución enmarcados en un concepto definido de paz: una paz social (Gaia) que, a su vez, brinde los suficientes elementos de juicio para que esa construcción sea sólida y perdurable. Debemos reconocer que muchos procesos de resolución de conflictos ambientales han fracasado en su objetivo final: la paz. Un modelo de construcción de paz ambiental (Gaia) debe brindar elementos de fundamentación y actuación en procesos de resolución de conflictos ambientales, de forma que esos procesos sean sostenibles en el tiempo, beneficien a los actores involucrados y garanticen el acceso a los recursos naturales de forma sostenible. A Amèrica Llatina, els conflictes ambientals tenen la seva pròpia naturalesa, característiques i dinàmiques, les quals ens han de portar a plantejar processos de maneig i resolució emmarcats en un concepte definit de pau: una pau social (Gaia) que, a la vegada brindi els suficients elements de judici perquè aquesta construcció sigui sòlida i perdurable. Hem de reconèixer que molts processos de resolució de conflictes ambientals han fracassat en el seu objectiu final: la pau. Un model de construcció de pau ambiental (Gaia) ha d'oferir elements de fonamentació i actuació en processos de resolució de conflictes ambientals, de manera que aquests processos siguin sostenibles en el temps, beneficiïn els actors involucrats i garanteixin l'accés als recursos naturals de forma sostenible.
