This article presents a nuanced discussion of four episodes on the complexity of possible trajectories for sustainable futures through diverse but intersecting practices and discourses as heterogeneous but complementary articulations of 'adaptation and space'. As design and creative processes evolve, new tools and methods, often adopted from science and technology, are integrated into art, design, and architecture. However, knowledge flow in these developments tends to be unidirectional, with science and technology influencing these fields more than vice versa. The diverse developments relating to the concept of 'space' have profound impacts on industries, urban habitats, design approaches, and the arts within the expanded field. This article engages in a conversation from four different disciplinary perspectives, each articulating its own voice in relation to the broad notion of 'adaptation and space.' Through this multidisciplinary dialogue, presented in four episodes, it critically contributes to the ongoing discussion on sustainable futures, offering new trajectories for Problem-Based Learning (PBL) beyond disciplinary boundaries. In an era dominated by umbrella terminologies like sustainability, the field of higher education faces the challenge of integrating different expertise to foster new solutions for complex challenges. This article highlights the need for diverse fields such as architecture, art, and social science to engage in a dialogue about perception, interaction, and manipulation of space. Its purpose extends beyond the exploration of novel solutions, instead inviting multifarious perspectives that shape interconnected agencies for sustainable futures and their impact on education. Drought stress affects growth and productivity significantly in chickpea. An integrated multi-omics analysis can provide a better molecular-level understanding of drought stress tolerance. In the present study, comparative transcriptome, proteome and metabolome analyses of two chickpea genotypes with contrasting responses to drought stress, ICC 4958 (drought-tolerant, DT) and ICC 1882 (drought-sensitive, DS), was performed to gain insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying drought stress response/tolerance. Pathway enrichment analysis of differentially abundant transcripts and proteins suggested the involvement of glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, galactose metabolism, and starch and sucrose metabolism in the DT genotype. An integrated multi-omics analysis of transcriptome, proteome and metabolome data revealed coexpressed genes, proteins and metabolites involved in phosphatidylinositol signaling, glutathione metabolism and glycolysis/gluconeogenesis pathways, specifically in the DT genotype under drought. These stress-responsive pathways were coordinately regulated by the differentially abundant transcripts, proteins and metabolites to circumvent the drought stress response/tolerance in the DT genotype. The QTL-hotspot associated genes, proteins and transcription factors may further contribute to improved drought tolerance in the DT genotype. Altogether, the multi-omics approach provided an in-depth understanding of stress-responsive pathways and candidate genes involved in drought tolerance in chickpea. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The world witnessed and went through the COVID-19 pandemic for a major part of two years, the after effects of which still reverberate loudly worldwide. The psychological and emotional turmoil was felt by everyone but was accentuated many fold, especially for the COVID-19 survivors. Years of research have already established gratitude and hope to be the predictors of psychological well-being. The present research study made an attempt to explore gratitude and hope as the correlates of psychological well-being amongst COVID-19 survivors. The sample of this research study consisted of 76 survivors (N=76) from the state of Haryana, India. Gratitude Questionnaire-6 by McCullough et al. (2002); the Adult State Hope Scale by Snyder et al. (1996); and Ryff's Psychological Well-being Scale (RPWBS-18; Ryff et al., 2010) were used for the assessment of the variables. Descriptive statistics and Pearson's Product Moment Correlation was applied to explore the relationship among the variables. The findings of the study establish a significant positive correlation between both, gratitude and psychological well-being & hope and psychological well-being. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Itaconic acid (IA) is a well-known bio-based monounsaturated organic acid (C5H6O4), with a white color and crystalline structure. It is widely used in the agro-based, plastics, textile, paint and pharmaceutical sectors, owing to its flexible structure, due to the presence of functional groups with covalent double bonds. IA is an alternative to the petrochemicals acrylic and methacrylic acids. Commercial manufacturing of IA using Aspergillus terreus is more economically effective and feasible, and the Department of Energy (DOE) of the United States added IA under the "top 12" organic chemicals in 2004. This review provides an overview on the synthesis of IA and improvement of its yield by mutagenesis and metabolic engineering of Aspergillus and other fungal strains, along with its wide applications for food, pharmaceutical and textile purposes. Objective: While there is increasing information regarding the occupational risks to pregnant physicians, there is inconsistent and limited subspecialty data. Physicians may be at increased risk for pregnancy complications due to occupational exposure, long work hours, nightshifts, and physical/mental demands. Additionally, little is known regarding the education physicians receive pertaining to pregnancy risks respective to their specialties as well as departmental/institutional support for pregnancy loss or complication. Therefore, a survey was developed and distributed across multiple academic sites to ascertain if there is an inherent occupation-associated risk of pregnancy complication(s) and/or pregnancy loss for anesthesiologists (ANES) when compared to obstetrician/gynecologists (OB/GYN)., Methods: A specialty-specific survey was distributed electronically to attending ANES and OB/GYN, via departmental listservs at six participating academic medical centers. Responses were collected from March to October 2022 and included demographic information, practice characteristics, education about pregnancy risks and details of pregnancy complications and loss. The primary comparison between specialty groups was the occurrence of at least one pregnancy complication and/or loss. Logistic regression was used to evaluate specialty outcome associations. Additionally, complication rates and types between specialties were compared using univariate and multivariable models., Results: The survey was distributed to 556 anesthesiology and 662 obstetrics-gynecology faculty members with 224 ANES and 168 OB/GYN respondents, yielding an overall 32.2% response rate. Of the survey respondents, 103 ANES and 116 OB/GYN reported at least one pregnancy. Demographics were similar between the two cohorts. ANES had higher gravidity and parity relative to OB/GYN and tended to be earlier in their career at first pregnancy ( p  = .008, <.001, and .043, respectively). The rate of any pregnancy complication, including loss, was similar between specialties (65.1% (67/103) vs. 65.5% (76/116), p  = .942). Of the respondents reporting at least one pregnancy, 56.7% of ANES and 53.9% of OB/GYN experienced a complication while at work. Obstetrician-gynecologists had higher use of reproductive assistance (28% (47/116) vs. 11% (20/103), p  < .001). There were no notable differences between cohorts for complications, prematurity, and neonatal intensive care admission. Forty-one percent (161/392) of total respondents recalled learning about occupational risks to pregnancy, and ANES were more likely than OB/GYN to have recalled learning about these risks (121/224 (54%) and 40/168 (23.8%), respectively, p  < .001)., Conclusions: ANES and OB/GYN had similar risks for pregnancy complications and loss. Anesthesiologists were more likely to recall receiving education regarding occupational risk to pregnancy, though fewer than half of all survey respondents recalled learning about these risks. Our survey results are similar to the previously identified higher rate of pregnancy complications and loss in female physicians while uncovering areas of potential knowledge gaps for which institutions and practices could strive to improve upon. More research is needed to examine the relationship between occupation and pregnancy risk pertaining to female physicians with the goal being to identify modifiable risk factors.

Autoimmune gastritis is characterized by inflammation of the gastric mucosa due to autoimmune dysregulation. Upper gastrointestinal symptoms associated with autoimmune gastritis can significantly impact an individual's quality of life and require effective management strategies. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of the current understanding of upper gastrointestinal symptom management in autoimmune gastritis, aiming to consolidate existing knowledge, identify gaps, and offer insights for future research and clinical practice. The review begins by discussing the background and significance of autoimmune gastritis, highlighting its prevalence and the impact of upper gastrointestinal symptoms on affected individuals. The pathophysiology and clinical presentation of autoimmune gastritis-related upper gastrointestinal symptoms are explored, emphasizing the need for accurate diagnosis and targeted management approaches. Diagnostic approaches, including diagnostic criteria, endoscopy, histology, and biomarkers, are critically examined, along with the challenges and limitations associated with diagnosing autoimmune gastritis. The review then delves into the pharmacological approaches for symptom relief, such as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and H2 receptor antagonists. It explores the role of dietary modifications and lifestyle changes in symptom control. The article further discusses recent advancements in pharmacological interventions, novel therapeutic approaches, and the potential benefits of complementary and alternative medicine in symptom management. The concept of patient-centered approaches and personalized management strategies is emphasized, highlighting the importance of considering individual patient characteristics, treatment goals, and preferences. Recommendations for future research and clinical management are provided, including exploring emerging therapeutic targets, precision medicine approaches, and collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and patient advocacy groups.
