Background and aimsAllergic asthma has a considerable burden on the quality of life. A significant portion of moderate-to-severe allergic asthma patients need omalizumab, an anti-immunoglobulin-E monoclonal antibody, as an add-on therapy. In this phase III clinical trial P043 (Zerafil®, CinnaGen, Iran) efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity were compared with Xolair® (the originator omalizumab). The primary outcome was the rate of protocol-defined asthma exacerbations.MethodsExacerbation rates, Asthma Control Test (ACT) results, spirometry measurements, immunogenicity, and safety were evaluated. Each subject received either medication with a dose ranging from 150 to 375 mg based on pre-treatment serum total IgE level (IU/mL) and body weight (kg) every two or four weeks for a duration of 28 weeks.ResultsExacerbation rates were 0.150 (CI: 0.079-0.220) in the P043 group, and 0.190 (CI: 0.110-0.270) in the omalizumab group (per-protocol). The least squares mean differences of predicted Forced Expiratory Volume in the First second (FEV1) were -2.51% (CI: -7.17-2.15, P=0.29) and -3.87% (CI: -8.79-1.04, P=0.12), pre- and post-bronchodilator use. The mean ± SD of ACT scores at the screening and the last visit were 10.62 ± 2.93 and 20.93 ± 4.26 in P043 and 11.09 ± 2.75 and 20.46 ± 5.11 in the omalizumab group. A total of 288 adverse events were reported for the 256 enrolled participants. Among all, “dyspnea” and “headache” were the most reported ones. The overall incidence of adverse events (P=0.62) and serious adverse events (P=0.07) had no significant differences between the two groups. None of the samples were positive for anti-drug antibodies.ConclusionP043 was equivalent to omalizumab in the management of asthma in reduction of exacerbations. Abstract Background STAT3 hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome (STAT3-HIES) also referred to as autosomal dominant HIES (AD-HIES) is an inborn error of immunity characterized by the classic triad of eczema, frequent opportunistic infections, and elevated serum IgE levels. As a consequence of lung sequels due to repeated infections and impaired tissue healing, patients may require interventional pulmonary procedures. Method Four patients with dominant-negative STAT3 mutations who had received interventional pulmonary procedures were enrolled. The demographic, clinical, and molecular characteristics were gathered through a medical record search. All reported STAT3-HIES patients in the literature requiring pulmonary procedures as part of their treatment were reviewed. Result Recurrent episodes of pneumonia and lung abscess were the most prevalent symptoms. The most common non-immunological features were scoliosis, failure to thrive, and dental problems such as primary teeth retention and disseminated decays. Bronchiectasis, lung abscess, pneumatocele, and cavitary lesion were the most prevalent finding on high-resolution computed tomography at the earliest recording. All patients underwent pulmonary surgery and two of them experienced complications. Conclusion Patients with STAT3-HIES have marked pulmonary infection susceptibility which may necessitate thoracic surgeries. Since surgical procedures involve a high risk of complication, surgical options are recommended to be utilized only in cases of drug resistance or emergencies.

Abstract Background X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency is caused by IL2RG gene mutation. Several variations have been identified in the IL2RG gene, which potentially can prevent the production of nonfunctional proteins. Herein, a novel X-linked variant in the IL2RG gene is reported in twin brothers, associated with inflammatory bowel symptoms. Case presentation The patients were 26-month-old monozygotic twin middle-eastern males with failure to thrive and several inpatient admissions due to severe chronic nonbloody diarrhea that started at the age of 12 months. Pancolitis was revealed after performing upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopies on the twin with more severe gastrointestinal symptoms. Flow cytometric evaluation of the peripheral blood cells showed low levels of CD4+ cells in both patients. Next generation sequencing-based gene panel test results of the two patients proved a novel heterozygous missense X-linked IL2RG mutation (70330011 A > G, p.Trp197Arg) in one of the patients, which was predicted to be deleterious (CADD score of 28), which soon after was confirmed by Sanger segregation in his twin brother. Both parents were wild types and had never experienced similar symptoms. The patients received an human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-matched cord blood transplant. The twin with more severe gastrointestinal symptoms died 1 month after transplantation. In his brother, watery diarrhea eventually subsided after transplantation. Conclusion Intestinal involvement in X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency is a rare presentation that might be neglected. The increasing availability of genetic screening tests worldwide could be helpful for early detection of such lethal primary immunodeficiency diseases and in implementing effective interventions to handle the severe outcomes.

Abstract Background Mendelian susceptibility to mycobacterial disease (MSMD) is an uncommon disorder with increased susceptibility to less virulent mycobacteria including bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG). Fibrosing mediastinitis (FM) is also a rare condition defined by excessive fibrotic reactions in the mediastinum. So far, some infectious organisms and autoimmune diseases have been introduced as possible etiologies of FM. However, no study has ever discussed the possible association of BCG infection and FM. Case presentation In this study, we report a 3-year-old female presenting with persistent fever, weakness, and bloody diarrhea in addition to mediastinal lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, and pleural and pericardial effusion. Further examinations established a diagnosis of MSMD based on her clinical condition, immunologic data, positive tests for mycobacterial species, positive family history, and genetic study (IL12RB1 gene, c.G1193C, p.W398S). A year and a half later, she was referred with submandibular lymphadenitis and underwent immunologic work-up which revealed high inflammatory indices, a slight reduction in numbers of CD3 + and CD4 + cells as well as elevated CD16/56 + cell count and hyperimmunoglobulinemia. Purified protein derivative (PPD), QuantiFERON, and gastric washing test were all negative. Her chest computed tomography (CT) scan revealed suspicious para-aortic soft tissue and her echocardiography was indicative of strictures in superior vena cava and pulmonary veins. She further underwent chest CT angiography which confirmed FM development. Meanwhile, she has been treated with anti-mycobacterial agents and subcutaneous IFN-γ. Conclusion In summary, we described a novel case of MSMD in a child presenting with granulomatous FM possibly following BCG infection. This is the first report introducing aberrant BCG infection as the underlying cause of FM. This result could assist physicians in identifying early-onset FM in suspicious cases with MSMD. However, more studies are required to support this matter.

Abstract Background Post-vaccination BCG disease typically attests to underlying inborn errors of immunity (IEIs), with the highest rates of complications in patients with Mendelian susceptibility to mycobacterial disease (MSMD). However, therapeutic protocols for the management of BCG-osis (disseminated) and persistent BCG-itis (localized) are still controversial. Methods Twenty-four Iranian patients with MSMD (BCG-osis or BCG-itis), followed from 2009 to 2020 in Tehran, were included in the study. Their medical records were retrospectively reviewed for demographics, clinical features, laboratory findings, and molecular diagnosis. The therapeutic protocol sheets were prepared to contain the types and duration of anti-mycobacterial agents. Results BCG disease either as BCG-itis (33.3%) or BCG-osis (66.7%) was confirmed in all patients by positive gastric washing test (54.2%), microbial smear and culture (58.3%), or purified protein derivative (PPD) test (4.2%). The duration between BCG-osis onset and MSMD diagnosis was 21.6 months. All except three patients were initiated on second-line anti-mycobacterial agents with either a fluoroquinolone (levofloxacin: 15 mg/kg/day, ciprofloxacin: 20 mg/kg/day, ofloxacin: 15 mg/kg/day), aminoglycoside (amikacin: 10–15 mg/kg/day, streptomycin: 15 mg/kg/day), and/or macrolide (clarithromycin: 15 mg/kg/day) along with oral rifampin (10 mg/kg/day), isoniazid (15 mg/kg/day), and ethambutol (20 mg/kg/day). Three patients showed a clinical response to rifampin, despite in vitro resistance. Fourteen (58.3%) patients received also adjuvant subcutaneous IFN-γ therapy, 50 µ/m2 every other day. At the end of survey, most patients (n = 22, 91.7%) were alive and two patients died following BCG-osis and respiratory failure. Conclusions We recommend the early instigation of second-line anti-mycobacterial agents in MSMD patients with BCG disease.

Abstract Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is a rare autosomal recessive condition often presenting with chronic respiratory infections in early life. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is used to detect ciliary ultrastructural defects. In this study, we aimed to assess ciliary ultrastructural defects using quantitative methods on TEM to identify its diagnostic role in confirming PCD. Nasal samples of 67 patients, including 37 females and 30 males (20.3 ± 10.7 years old), with suspected PCD symptoms were examined by TEM. The most common presentations were bronchiectasis: 26 (38.8%), chronic sinusitis: 23 (34.3%), and recurrent lower respiratory infections: 21 (31.3%). Secondary ciliary dyskinesia, including compound cilia (41.4%) and extra-tubules (44.3%), were the most prevalent TEM finding. Twelve patients (17.9%) had hallmark diagnostic criteria for PCD (class 1) consisting of 11 (16.4%) outer and inner dynein arm (ODA and IDA) defects and only one concurrent IDA defect and microtubular disorganization. Also, 11 patients (16.4%) had probable criteria for PCD (class 2), 26 (38.8%) had other defects, and 18 (26.9%) had normal ciliary ultrastructure. Among our suspected PCD patients, the most common ultrastructural ciliary defects were extra-tubules and compound cilia. However, the most prevalent hallmark diagnostic defect confirming PCD was simultaneous defects of IDA and ODA.

BackgroundCombined immune deficiencies (CIDs) with associated or syndromic features are a highly heterogeneous subgroup of inherited immune disorders. These patients represent specific clinical complications with an increased risk of autoimmune conditions.MethodsWe analyzed data of monogenic patients with syndromic CIDs adopted from the Iranian inborn errors of immunity registry up to January 2022. A comprehensive comparison in terms of demographic, clinical, and immunological features was performed between patients with and without autoimmunity and also among four mutation groups with the most registered cases including ATM, STAT3 (AD-LOF), DNMT3B/ZBTB24, and WAS mutations.ResultsA total of 137 patients with monogenic syndromic CIDs were included. Most commonly mutated genes were the ATM [80 (58.4%)] and STAT3 (AD-LOF) [19 (13.9%)], followed by DNMT3B [11 (8%)], and WAS [11 (8%)]. More than 18% of all patients with syndromic CIDs, including most DNMT3B/ZBTB24 mutations patients, were clinically diagnosed with antibody deficiencies before genetic evaluation. Patients with ATM and WAS mutations had the latest age of onset and the lowest age of diagnosis, respectively. Autoimmune disorders were diagnosed in 24 patients at a median age of 3.5 (2.6-6.0) years, 70.6% of which were diagnosed prior to the diagnosis of immunodeficiency. Lymphoproliferation, particularly hepatosplenomegaly, was significantly higher in patients with autoimmunity (p=0.004). Syndromic CID patients with autoimmunity had significantly lower IgG levels. Hematologic autoimmunity mainly immune thrombocytopenic purpura was the most frequent autoimmunity among major groups of ATM, STAT3 (AD-LOF), DNMT3B/ZBTB24, and WAS mutations, however ATM-mutated patients present more diversified involved organs including rheumatologic, gastrointestinal and dermatologic autoimmunity.ConclusionAbout 18% of patients with monogenic syndromic CIDs developed autoimmunity, mainly in the form of hematological immune diseases. Autoimmunity could be an early-onset involvement with a potential diagnostic impact on suspicious cases of syndromic CIDs.

Abstract Background Mendelian susceptibility to mycobacterial disease (MSMD) is an inborn error of immunity, resulting in susceptibility to weakly virulent mycobacteria and other intramacrophagic pathogens. Rheumatologic manifestations and vasculitis are considered rare manifestations in MSMD patients. Case presentation In this study, we reported a 20-year-old female who was presented with recurrent lymphadenitis following bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccination and a history of recurrent disseminated rash diagnosed as leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LCV). A slight reduction in lymphocyte subsets including CD4+, CD19+, and CD 16 + 56 T-cell count, as well as an elevation in immunoglobulins level (IgG, IgA, IgM, IgE), were observed in the patient. Whole exome sequencing revealed a homozygous Indel-frameshift mutation, c.527_528delCT (p. S176Cfs*12), at the exon 5 of the IL12B gene. She experienced symptom resolution after treatment with anti-mycobacterial agents and subcutaneous IFN-γ. We conducted a manual literature search for MSMD patients reported with vasculitis in PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus databases. A total of 18 MSMD patients were found to be affected by a variety of vasculitis phenotypes mainly including LCV and Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) with often skin involvement. Patients were all involved with vasculitis at the median age of 6.8 (2.6–7.7) years, nearly 6.1 years after the initial presentations. Sixteen patients (88.9%) had IL12RB1 defects and concurrent Salmonella infection was reported in 15 (88.2%) patients. Conclusion The lack of IL-12 and IL-23 signaling/activity/function and salmonella infection may be triggering factors for the development of leukocytoclastic vasculitis. IL12B or IL12RB1 deficiency and salmonellosis should be considered in MSMD patients with vasculitis.

Abstract Background Identification of molecular markers, such as miRNAs is promising for the diagnosis of asthma and its clinical phenotypes. The aim of this study was to examine the changes in the expression of selected microRNAs in plasma exosomal fractions of severe asthma patients. The expression of miRNAs was determined in relation to the changes in inflammatory markers. Method Severe asthma patients (n = 30) and healthy subjects (n = 30) were selected among the individuals referred to asthma and allergy clinic. Blood was collected from each participant to determine the serum high-sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and total IgE. The exosomal fraction of plasma was isolated and processed for quantitation of miR-124, miR-125b, miR-133b, miR-130a and miR-125b-1-3p expression using quantitative real time-PCR (qRT-PCR). Results Serum hs-CRP and total IgE were significantly higher in asthma patients compared to controls. Cutaneous manifestations are one of the most common presentations among patients with inborn errors of immunity (IEI). These skin manifestations are often among the first presenting features in the majority of patients preceding the IEI diagnosis. We studied 521 available monogenic patients with IEI listed in the Iranian IEI registry up to November 2022. We extracted each patient’s demographic information, detailed clinical history of cutaneous manifestations, and immunologic evaluations. The patients were then categorized and compared based on their phenotypical classifications provided by the International Union of Immunological Societies. Most patients were categorized into syndromic combined immunodeficiency (25.1%), non-syndromic combined immunodeficiency (24.4%), predominantly antibody deficiency (20.7%), and diseases of immune dysregulation (20.5%). In total, 227 patients developed skin manifestations at a median (IQR) age of 2.0 (0.5–5.2) years; a total of 66 (40.7%) of these patients initially presented with these manifestations. Patients with cutaneous involvement were generally older at the time of diagnosis [5.0 (1.6–8.0) vs. 3.0 (1.0–7.0) years; p = 0.022]. Consanguinity was more common among patients who developed skin disorders (81.4% vs. 65.2%, p < 0.001). The overall skin infection rate and the type of dominant pathogens were significantly different among the IEI patients in different phenotypical classifications (p < 0.001). Atopic presentation, including urticaria, was highly prevalent among patients with congenital defects of phagocytes (p = 0.020). The frequency of eczema was also significantly higher among cases with both syndromic and non-syndromic combined immunodeficiency (p = 0.009). In contrast, autoimmune cutaneous manifestations, including alopecia and psoriasis, were most common in patients with immune dysregulation (p = 0.001) and defects in intrinsic or innate immunity (p = 0.031), respectively. The presence of autoimmune cutaneous complications significantly improved the survival rate of IEI patients (p = 0.21). In conclusion, cutaneous manifestations were observed in nearly 44% of Iranian patients with monogenic IEI. A considerable number of patients with cutaneous involvements developed these disorders as their first manifestation of the disease, which was particularly noticeable in patients with non-syndromic combined immunodeficiency and phagocytic defects. The neglected skin disorders in IEI patients might delay diagnosis, which is generally established within a 3-year interval from the development of skin-related problems. Cutaneous disorders, especially autoimmune features, might indicate a mild prognosis in IEI patients.

Ataxia-telangiectasia (AT) is a rare autosomal recessive neurodegenerative multisystem disorder. A minority of AT patients can present late-onset atypical presentations due to unknown mechanisms. The demographic, clinical, immunological and genetic data were collected by direct interview and examining the Iranian AT patients with late-onset manifestations. We also conducted a systematic literature review for reported atypical AT patients. We identified three Iranian AT patients (3/249, 1.2% of total registry) with later age at ataxia onset and slower neurologic progression despite elevated alpha-fetoprotein levels, history of respiratory infections, and immunological features of the syndrome. Of note, all patients developed autoimmunity in which a decrease of naïve T cells and regulatory T cells were observed. The literature searches also summarized data from 73 variant AT patients with atypical presentation indicating biallelic mild mutations mainly lead to an atypical phenotype with an increased risk of cancer. Variant AT patients present with milder phenotype or atypical form of classical symptoms causing under- or mis- diagnosis. Although missense mutations are more frequent, an atypical presentation can be associated with deleterious mutations due to unknown modifying factors.

Mendelian susceptibility to mycobacterial disease (MSMD) is a rare group of genetic disorders characterized by infections with weakly virulent environmental mycobacteria (EM) or Mycobacterium bovis bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG). Herein, we described the case of a 4.5-year-old boy with protein-losing enteropathy, lymphoproliferation, and candidiasis, who was found to have disseminated Mycobacterium simiae infection. A homozygous mutation in the IL12B gene, c.527_528delCT (p.S176Cfs*12) was identified, responsible for the complete IL-12p40 deficiency. He was resistant to anti-mycobacterial treatment and finally died due to sepsis-related complications.

There is strong evidence on the interaction of several genetic variations and environmental conditions in the etiology of asthma. Association of a disintegrin and metalloproteinase 33 (ADAM33) with asthma risk is not clear and shows diversity between nations and ethnicities. Several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) of the ADAM33 gene are introduced and studied according to the disease onset and characteristics. The aim of our study is to determine the association of ADAM33 rs2280091 polymorphism and pediatric asthma in the Iranian population. A total of 63 asthma patients (aged 6-18) and 86 healthy controls were enrolled in our study. Asthma type, classification, and severity were defined. SNPs of the ADAM33 gene at rs2280091 (T1) were analyzed. Pulmonary function tests, total blood eosinophil count, and IgE count were also assessed. T1 genotype and allele frequencies were not associated with asthma risk in Iranian pediatric asthma. Atopic asthma subgroup and patients with normal eosinophil count showed association with ADAM33 rs2280091. Moreover, asthma patients with AG genotype showed lower pulmonary functions.

Background and Purpose: Aspergillus fumigatus as a ubiquitous fungus can be found in the respiratory tract of the asthmatic and healthy people. The inhalation of Aspergillus spores leads to an immune response in individuals with asthma and results in the aggravation of the clinical symptoms. The present study aimed to investigate the prevalence of specific immunoglobulin E and G (IgE and IgG) against A.fumigatus in asthmatic patients. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted on 200 consecutive patients with moderate to severe asthma referring to Masih Daneshvari hospital Tehran, Iran, from January 2016 to February 2018. Skin prick test (SPT) was performed in all subjects with Aspergillus allergens. Moreover, all patients underwent specific IgE testing for Aspergillus using Hycor method. Enzyme immune assay was applied to measure total IgE and Aspergillus-specific IgG. Results: According to the results, the mean age of the patients was 45.8 years (age range: 18-78 years). The mean levels of total IgE and Aspergillus specific IgE in asthmatic patients were obtained as 316.3 (range: 6-1300 IU/ml) and 1.5 (range: 0.1- 61.3 IU/ml), respectively. Out of 200 patients, 27 (13.5%), 65 (32.5%), 22 (11.0%), and 86 (43.0%) cases had positive Aspergillus SPT, total IgE of > 417 IU/ml, Aspergillus-specific IgE, and IgG, respectively. The level of these variables in patients with severe asthma were 16 (16.5%), 36 (37.1%), 15 (15.5%), and 46 (47.4%), respectively. Conclusion: As the findings indicated, reactivity to Aspergillus is a remarkable phenomenon in asthmatic patients. It is also emphasised that the climatic condition may affect the positive rate of hypersensitivity to Aspergillus.

Good’s syndrome, the adult onset hypogammaglobulinemia associated with thymoma has been explained about six decades ago. It generally presents with recurrent infections and several paraneoplastic syndromes including myasthenia gravis, pure red cell aplasia, connective tissue disorders, superior vena cava, Horner’s syndrome, lichen planus and inflammatory bowel disease. Lack of B cell, dysfunction of T cell, CD4+ T cell lymphopenia, reversed CD4/CD8+ T cell ratio, autoantibodies against Th17 related cytokines have been respected as the pathogenesis of the immune dysregulation this syndrome. A 57-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with a history of thymectomy due to thymoma (Type A) 6 years ago. He developed weight loss and recurrent persistent diarrhea caused by isospora belli. His chest CT scan revealed bilateral bronchiectasis. His laboratory data showed hypogammaglobulinemia and he was treated by monthly IVIG with the diagnosis of good’s syndrome. Nevertheless he referred again with left sided loss of vision because of CMV retinitis and he also developed nail candidiasis. Good’s syndrome should be considered in every patient with a history of thymoma and recurrent infection. Immunologic evaluation of these patients including measurement of the serum level of immunoglobulin as well as B cell and T cell subgroups should be performed. Physicians must be aware and think about this entity in patients with adult onset immunodeficiency.

Aeroallergens play an important role in developing allergic diseases. The aim of this study was to determine the outdoor and indoor sensitization using a specific regional panel of aeroallergens in allergic patients. All patients with allergic symptoms referred to Immunology, Asthma and Allergy Research Institute (IAARI) in Tehran, Iran from December 2010 to July 2013 entered this cross sectional study. We evaluated serum samples for specific IgE against 20 selected aeroallergens provided by a specific panel (RIDA Allergy Screen test, IAARI panel). A p value less than 0.05 was considered as significant. The patients (n=602) were 49.8 % male and 50.2% female. The median age was 9 years. Positive specific IgE at least to one allergen was 53.2%. The percentages of patients with only outdoor or indoor sensitization were 37.5 and 19.7%, respectively. Moreover, 42.8% showed sensitization to both indoor and outdoor aeroallergens. The most common outdoor aeroallergens in decreasing order were plane tree (32.8%), Bermuda grass (32.2%), timothy grass (30.6%), saltwort (28.4%). The percentage of specific IgE to indoor allergens including mold and mite were 23.8 % and 22.2%, respectively. There was a statistically significant relationship between specific IgE to timothy grass and mold allergens between two genders (p=0.04 and p=0.02, respectively).The results of this study shows that outdoor aeroallergens can be considered as the most common causes of allergic symptoms in our allergic patients.

Normal human breathing exhibits complex variability in both respiratory rhythm and volume. Analyzing such nonlinear fluctuations may provide clinically relevant information in patients with complex illnesses such as asthma. We compared the cycle-by-cycle fluctuations of inter-breath interval (IBI) and lung volume (LV) among healthy volunteers and patients with various types of asthma. Continuous respiratory datasets were collected from forty age-matched men including 10 healthy volunteers, 10 patients with controlled atopic asthma, 10 patients with uncontrolled atopic asthma, and 10 patients with uncontrolled non-atopic asthma during 60 min spontaneous breathing. Complexity of breathing pattern was quantified by calculating detrended fluctuation analysis, largest Lyapunov exponents, sample entropy, and cross-sample entropy. The IBI as well as LV fluctuations showed decreased long-range correlation, increased regularity and reduced sensitivity to initial conditions in patients with asthma, particularly in uncontrolled state. Our results also showed a strong synchronization between the IBI and LV in patients with uncontrolled asthma. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis showed that nonlinear analysis of breathing pattern has a diagnostic value in asthma and can be used in differentiating uncontrolled from controlled and non-atopic from atopic asthma. We suggest that complexity analysis of breathing dynamics may represent a novel physiologic marker to facilitate diagnosis and management of patients with asthma. However, future studies are needed to increase the validity of the study and to improve these novel methods for better patient management.

The aim of current study is to describe clinical similarities and differences between atopic and non-atopic asthma in children. In a cross-sectional study, 95 asthmatic children (75 allergics and 20 nonallergics) were included in the study. Demographic, clinical, and familial history were compared between two groups. There was no significant differences between variables like sex, age of onset (p=0.75), severity (p=0.70), and family history among the two groups (p=0.42). Patients with allergic asthma were significantly older than those with non- allergic asthma (11.28 ± 3.19 and 9.75 ± 2.35 years, respectively, p=0.02). The controversy lingers over the presence of a completely distinct phenotype of non-atopic asthma in children. Our study suggested that phenotypes of allergic and non-allergic asthma in children were not entirely distinct.
