With the aim of developing a reflection on the documental level of geography, and to understand how physical and human geography are materially related, this paper analyzes an ample spectrum of indexed literature from a distant reading perspective based on scientometric tools. Moving under a sociology of science lens, the study address (I) the citational relationship between the two fields, and (II) how scientific articles in geography are mobilised and combined with different categories of research journals in a cognate scientific field. The study relies on science mapping techniques to chart, describe, and visualize the citational relationships among journals and fields. Dans le but de développer une réflexion sur la production de publications de la géographie et de comprendre comment la géographie physique et la géographie humaine sont matériellement liées, cet article analyse un large éventail de littérature indexée dans une perspective basée sur des outils scientométriques. Se déplaçant sous le prisme de la sociologie des sciences, l'étude aborde (I) la relation des citations entre les deux domaines et (II) la manière dont les articles scientifiques en géographie sont mobilisés et combinés avec différentes catégories de revues de recherche dans des domaines de recherche apparentés. L'étude s'appuie sur des techniques de cartographie de la science (« science mapping ») pour tracer, décrire et visualiser les relations de référence entre les revues et les domaines.

In recent years, increased stakeholder pressure to transition research to Open Access has led to many journals converting, or 'flipping', from a closed access (CA) to an open access (OA) publishing model. Changing the publishing model can influence the decision of authors to submit their papers to a journal, and increased article accessibility may influence citation behaviour. In this paper we aimed to understand how flipping a journal to an OA model influences the journal's future publication volumes and citation impact. We analysed two independent sets of journals that had flipped to an OA model, one from the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and one from the Open Access Directory (OAD), and compared their development with two respective control groups of similar journals. For bibliometric analyses, journals were matched to the Scopus database. We assessed changes in the number of articles published over time, as well as two citation metrics at the journal and article level: the normalised impact factor (IF) and the average relative citations (ARC), respectively. Our results show that overall, journals that flipped to an OA model increased their publication output compared to journals that remained closed. Mean normalised IF and ARC also generally increased following the flip to an OA model, at a greater rate than was observed in the control groups. However, the changes appear to vary largely by scientific discipline. Dans le sillage de la lente diffusion du BIM dans les milieu professionnels de la construction, un nombre croissant d’expérimentations sont menées dans le domaine de l’existant à forte valeur patrimoniale, principalement dans le monde de la recherche. Cette communication étudie l’évolution de la production scientifique pour dégager des tendances et identifier les futurs axes de développement de cette approche relativement nouvelle et encore mal définie.

National audience; Despite the long research history of Agroforestry, few papers have analyzed the overall pattern of its knowledge development (Nair, 1996; Montambault & Alavalapati, 2005; Barisaux, 2017). In this communication, we analyze the development of this scientific domain since its appearance in the Web of Science database (1979). We first build a comprehensive lexical query on forms of agroforestry. This generates a corpus of 11902 records from 1979 to 2018. Then, we apply scientometric analysis to highlight the overall dynamic of scientific communities, specialties and research fronts. We found that agroforestry first follows an irregular dynamic, with a steady growth since 2005 (fig below). Characterizing the main actors at various scale, we show that collaborations follow a densification pattern since the 1990s resulting in an increasingly cohesive international research community. Then, we focus on the topics, characterized by a diversification pattern. To pinpoint major trends of agroforestry, we then analyze the structuration of topics by discriminating them according to their centrality/marginality and also to their dynamic (hot or cold trends). Through this mapping, and beyond descriptive statements, we also discuss the issue of links between science, society and policy. We particularly focus on the evolution of studies about economic and institutional determinants of diffusion and adoption and more recently on transition studies toward agroforestry.

International audience; The Union of International Associations’ documentation on international non- governmental organizations (INGOs) is a treasure trove for historians and social scientists alike. INGOs are part and parcel of the modern world. They both reflect and influence social, political, cultural and economic conditions around the globe. They occupy a space of human activity in between, but connected to, the market and the state, and this space seems to be growing. The present chapter seeks to show how a historical investigation into this space might benefit from the use of UIA data.As other contributions to this volume have noted, the UIA aims to register the key activities of all INGOs that exist or have ever existed. As anyone familiar with historical databases would immediately admit, a database with such a large geographical (the globe) and temporal span (in principle that of human history, though in practice mostly the past two centuries) cannot, and never will be, complete in its coverage. This is also acknowledged by the UIA and is partly caused by the fact that most of the data is provided by the organizations themselves. For the present purpose – namely the visualization of various long-term developments – we will, however, assume that it can nonetheless offer a representative picture. For practical reasons, we focus on the period between 1800 and 1970, concentrating on two UIA datasets: the annual congress calendar and the Yearbook series, featuring all organizations that meet the UIA’s definition of an INGO.

An increasing number of scientific publications are created in open and transparent peer review models: a submission is published first, and then reviewers are invited, or a submission is reviewed in a closed environment but then these reviews are published with the final article, or combinations of these. Reasons for open peer review include giving better credit to reviewers, and enabling readers to better appraise the quality of a publication. In most cases, the full, unstructured text of an open review is published next to the full, unstructured text of the article reviewed. This approach prevents human readers from getting a quick impression of the quality of parts of an article, and it does not easily support secondary exploitation, e.g., for scientometrics on reviews. While document formats have been proposed for publishing structured articles including reviews, integrated tool support for entire open peer review workflows resulting in such documents is still scarce. We present AR-Annotator, the Automatic Article and Review Annotator which employs a semantic information model of an article and its reviews, using semantic markup and unique identifiers for all entities of interest. The fine-grained article structure is not only exposed to authors and reviewers but also preserved in the published version. We publish articles and their reviews in a Linked Data representation and thus maximise their reusability by third party applications. We demonstrate this reusability by running quality-related queries against the structured representation of articles and their reviews.

International audience; The TERRE-ISTEX project aims at identifying the evolution of research working relation to study areas, disciplinary crossings and concrete research methods based on the heterogeneous digital content available in scientific corpora. The project is divided into three main actions: (1) to identify the periods and places which have been the subject of empirical studies, and which reflect the publications resulting from the corpus analyzed, (2) to identify the thematics addressed in these works and (3) to develop a web-based geographical information retrieval tool (GIR). The first two actions involve approaches combining Natural languages processing patterns with text mining methods. By crossing the three dimensions (spatial, thematic and temporal) in a GIR engine, it will be possible to understand what research has been carried out on which territories and at what time. In the project, the experiments are carried out on a heterogeneous corpus including electronic thesis and scientific articles from the ISTEX digital libraries and the CIRAD research center.; Le projet interdisciplinaire TERRE-ISTEX a pour objectif d'identifier l'évolution des fronts de recherche en relation avec les territoires d'études, les croisements disciplinaires ainsi que les modalités concrètes de recherche à partir des contenus numériques hétérogènes disponibles dans les corpus scientifiques. Les deux premières actions font intervenir des approches combinant des patrons du traitement automatique du langage naturel à des méthodes de fouille de textes. En croisant les trois dimensions (spatial, thématique et temporel) dans un moteur de RIG, il sera ainsi possible de comprendre quelles recherches ont été menées sur quels territoires et à quel moment. Dans le cadre du projet, les expérimentations sont menées sur un corpus hétérogène constitué de thèses électroniques et d'articles scientifiques provenant des bibliothèques numériques d'ISTEX et du centre de recherche CIRAD.

Um Kernfragen zur Mehrautorenschaft in einer bestimmten Zielgruppe zu klären, konzentriert sich diese Arbeit auf Aspekte von technologischer Kompetenz, menschlicher Interaktion und institutioneller Leitlinien. Zuerst werden interdisziplinäre Argumente in Bezug zu Mehrautorenschaft aus den Sozialwissenschaften, Naturwissenschaften, Informatik und Geisteswissenschaften präsentiert. Die Literaturübersicht enthält Statistiken zu Informationsnutzung, Beschreibung von Strategien des Wissensmanagements, Erforschung von Verhaltensmustern und Trends in der Kommunikationstechnologie, sowie Diskussionen einiger historischer, politischer und inhaltlicher Aspekte, welche die Anwendung des Internet als kollaboratives Werkzeug im akademischen Kontext beeinflussen können. Die Arbeit beschäftigt sich auch mit einigen Kontroversen zur Konzeption von Wissenschaft und wissenschaftlicher Praktiken, welche indirekt mit der Problematik von wissenschaftlicher Kommunikation und Zusammenarbeit, sowie Wissensproduktion in Zusammenhang stehen, insofern sie die Produktion Texten mit mehreren Autoren betreffen. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt der Arbeit befasst sich mir dem zur Zeit vorherrschenden System zur Evaluation akademischer Publikationen (Bibliometrie oder Scientometrie; QUALIS und SCIELO Systeme). Das vorhandene System für die Evaluation von Autoren ist in der Regel unfair /voreingenommen. Das liegt daran, das Statistiken leicht manipuliert werden können um einer bürokratischen und unternehmerischen Agenda zu folgen oder individuelle Interessen darzustellen, anstatt die wirklichen Verdienste eines Autors widerzuspiegeln. Die Untersuchung wurde anhand von semi-strukturierten Interviews durchgeführt, in Kombination mit einer quantitativen Erhebung, welche drei miteinander verbundene Aspekte (technologische, institutionelle und kulturelle), die bei der in Mehrautorenschaft eine Rolle spielen, innerhalb des Graduiertenprogramms in 'Forest Engineering' an der Universidade Federal do Paraná (Brasilien) hervorheben sollte., In order to verify core issues for co-authorship in a specific audience, the current work focus on technological literacy, human interaction, and institutional policy. It first presents an interdisciplinary collection of arguments from social sciences, natural sciences, computer sciences, and humanities about scientific collaboration, especially regarding co-authorship activities. This literature review includes statistics on information usage, description of knowledge management strategies, exploration of behavioral patterns, communication technology trends, and discussions of some historical, political and contextual elements that may be influencing the application of the Internet as a collaborative tool within academic contexts. It also draws back few controversies about the concept of science and its practices, which are indirectly related to the problematic of scholarly communication, scientific collaboration, and knowledge production. The investigation targets these activities in what they concern the production of co-authored texts. A special focus of this work targets the current mainstream system of academic publishing ranking and evaluation (Bibliometrics or Scientometrics; QUALIS and SCIELO systems). The existing measurement system for the ranking of authors is generally an unfair/biased system, as statistics can easily be manipulated by a bureaucratic and corporate agenda, or by individual interests, rather than representing the real merit of an author. The inquiry applies a semi-structured in-depth interview combined with a quantitative survey intending to reveal three interrelated aspects (Technological, Institutional, and Cultural) involved in co-authorship activities within the Graduate Program in Forest Engineering at the Federal University of Paraná/Brazil.

Innovation is recognize as a matter of survival and success to firms and technological capabilities can lead to an innovative behavior by using technological resources and competences. The literature about technological capability and innovation is vast, counting on several approaches and a large number of researchers involved within. Based on this, our aim is to use a bibliometrics approach to map out the authors, institutions, journals and the evolution of the publication as well, to provide the path needed to build a theoretical framework about the theme. We held this research on the Scopus database using a standard search protocol to perform the selection of the sample. Our results indicates an emerging field of study and a large number papers and citations concentrated in few journals. Most cited authors are related to seminal works on the subject and most cited papers are ones from late 90’s and early 2000.

New Public Management unterstützt Universitäten und Forschungseinrichtungen dabei, in einem stark wettbewerbsorientierten Forschungsumfeld zu bestehen. Entscheidungen unter Unsicherheit, z.B. die Verteilung von Mitteln für den Forschungsbedarf und Forschungszwecke, erfordert von Politik und Hochschulmanagement, die Beziehungen zwischen den Dimensionen der Forschungsleistung und den resultierenden oder eingehenden Zuschüssen zu verstehen. Hierfür ist es wichtig, die Variablen der wissenschaftlichen Wissensproduktion auf der Ebene von Individuen, Forschungsgruppen und Universitäten zu untersuchen. Das Kapitel 2 dieser Arbeit analysiert die Ebene der Individuen. Es verwendet die Beobachtungen der Forscherprofile von Handelsblatt (HB), Research Papers in Economics (RePEc, hier RP) und Google Scholar (GS) als meist verbreitete Ranking-Systeme in BWL und VWL im deutschsprachigen Raum. Das Kapitel 3 liefert eine empirische Evidenz für die Ebene von Forschungsgruppen und verwendet die Daten eines Sonderforschungsbereichs (SFB) zu Finanzinputs und Forschungsoutput von 2005 bis 2016. Das Kapitel beginnt mit der Beschreibung passender Performanzindikatoren, gefolgt von einer innovativen visuellen Datenanalyse. Im Hauptteil des Kapitels untersucht die Arbeit mit Hilfe eines Zeit-Fixed-Effects-Panel- Modells und eines Fixed-Effects-Poisson-Modells den Zusammenhang zwischen finanziellen Inputs und Forschungsoutputs. Das Kapitel 4 beschäftigt sich mit dem Niveau der Universitäten und untersucht die Interdependenzstruktur zwischen Drittmittelausgaben, Publikationen, Zitationen und akademischem Alter mit Hilfe eines PVARX-Modells, einer Impulsantwort und einer Zerlegung der Prognosefehlervarianz. Abschließend befasst sich das Kapitel mit den möglichen Implikationen für Politik und Entscheidungsfindung und schlägt Empfehlungen für das universitäre Forschungsmanagement vor., New Public Management helps universities and research institutions to perform in a highly competitive research environment. Decision making in the face of uncertainty, for example distribution of funds for research needs and purposes, urges research policy makers and university managers to understand the relationships between the dimensions of research performance and the resulting or incoming grants. Thus, it is important to accurately reflect the variables of scientific knowledge production on the level of individuals, research groups and universities. Chapter 2 of this thesis introduces an analysis on the level of individuals. The data are taken from the three widely-used ranking systems in the economic and business sciences among German-speaking countries: Handelsblatt (HB), Research Papers in Economics (RePEc, here RP) and Google Scholar (GS). It proposes a framework for collating ranking data for comparison purposes. Chapter 3 provides empirical evidence on the level of research groups using data from a Collaborative Research Center (CRC) on financial inputs and research output from 2005 to 2016. First, suitable performance indicators are discussed. Second, main properties of the data are described using visualization techniques. Finally, the time fixed effects panel data model and the fixed effects Poisson model are used to analyze an interdependency between financial inputs and research outputs. Chapter 4 examines the interdependence structure between third-party expenses (TPE), publications, citations and academic age using university data on individual performance in different scientific areas. A panel vector autoregressive model with exogenous variables (PVARX), impulse response functions and a forecast error variance decomposition help to capture the relationships in the system. To summarize, the chapter addresses the possible implications for policy and decision making and proposes recommendations for university research management.

Texte intégral accessible uniquement aux membres de l'Université de Lorraine; The aim of this doctoral study is to investigate the impact of economic transition process, from centrally planned economy to market economy, on the enterprises in Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries from 1989 to 2016. In the two first articles, to map the intellectual structure of economic transition and of privatization, as the main component of transition, has been used Co-Word Analysis (CWA) on extant literature. CWA consists initially in extracting the most important concepts describing a research field from titles and/or abstracts on the basis of a large number of scholarly papers, then calculating the occurrences of each concept and generating clusters of such concepts based on the strength of their association. CWA display these clusters in a 2D map depending on their internal and external strength of each cluster that represents the intellectual structure of the research field in question. The results of these two articles, along with other authors (Berglöf & Roland, 2006; Stiglitz, 2000, 2006), emphasize the importance of non-economic factors on enterprise performance. According to (Frye & Shleifer, 1997), among the non-economic and non-institutional factors, corruption, is identified as the element that played an important role during the transition process and as Intriligator (1996) confirms, also during the privatization process. Though in the last article, are provided new insights of the impact of corruption, crime and “time tax” on enterprise performance; L'objectif de cette étude doctoral est d'étudier l'impact du processus de transition économique, de l'économie centralisée à l'économie de marché, sur les entreprises des pays d'Europe de l’Est et Centrale (EEC) de 1989 à 2016. Dans les deux premiers articles, pour conceptualiser la structure intellectuelle de la transition économique et de la privatisation, en tant que principales composantes de la transition, a été utilisée l’analyse des mots-clés (Co-Word Analysis: CWA) sur la littérature existante. Cette méthode scientométrique consiste d’abord à extraire les concepts les plus importants décrivant un champ de recherche à partir de titres et/ou de résumés sur la base d'un grand nombre de documents académiques, puis de calculer les occurrences de chaque concept et de générer des grappes (clusters) de tels concepts fondés sur la force de leur association. CWA affiche ces clusters dans une carte 2D en fonction de leur force interne et externe qui représente la structure intellectuelle du domaine de recherche en question. Les résultats de ces deux articles, ainsi que d'autres auteurs (Berglöf & Roland, 2006; Stiglitz, 2000, 2006) soulignent l'importance des facteurs non-économiques sur la performance de l'entreprise. Selon Frye & Shleifer (1997), parmi les facteurs non-économiques et non-institutionnels, la corruption est identifiée comme un élément important pendant le processus de transition qu’Intriligator (1996), confirme également pendant le processus de privatisation. The dissertation provides four contributions on the axiomatic method. The first three chapters deal with cooperative games with transferable utility. In the first two chapters, a systematic study of the nullification operation is done. The removal axioms are translated into their nullified counterparts. Some existing characterizations are revisited, and completely new results are presented. The third chapter introduces and characterizes a proportional Shapley value in which the Harsanyi dividends are shared in proportion to the stand-alone worths of the concerned players. The fourth chapter proposes a multi-dimensional variant of the Hirsch index. An axiomatic characterization and an application to sports rankings are provided.; La thèse propose quatre contributions sur la méthode axiomatique. Les trois premiers chapitres utilisent le formalisme des jeux coopératifs à utilité transférable. Dans les deux premiers chapitres, une étude systématique de l'opération de nullification est menée. Les axiomes de retraits sont transformés en axiomes de nullification. Des caractérisations existantes de règles d’allocation sont revisitées, et des résultats totalement neufs sont présentés. Le troisième chapitre introduit et caractérise une valeur de Shapley proportionnelle, où les dividendes d’Harsanyi sont partagés en proportion des capacités des singletons concernés. Le quatrième chapitre propose une variante multi-dimensionnelle de l’indice de Hirsch. Une caractérisation axiomatique et une application aux classements sportifs sont fournies.

Session "Contested sustainability discourses: from food sovereignty to sustainable intensification"; Scholars still contribute to debates referring to counter-propositions to mainstream agriculture emerging from the social world. Many of these propositions (organic farming, agroecology, sustainable agriculture…) share inspiration coming from the sustainability agenda. In this communication, by analyzing academic production through digital methods, we contribute to the inventory and better differentiation of such forms of agriculture. Among the sustainability discursive dimensions, we give special attention to the Justice issue as a possible cleavage point between these forms of agriculture and between various scientific communities that are theoretically, conceptually and institutionally situated. What are the dimensions addressed? What are the positions of these propositions toward the issues of social or environmental Justice? What are the controversies between forms of agriculture? Such a mapping also intends to shed light on the interlinks between framing and farming.

În acest studiu este prezentată o nouă metodă de reprezentare în ştiinţă care combină asocierea bibliografică, ca o măsură a asemănării document-document, cu o metodă de grupare ierarhică aglomerativă. Accentul se pune în acest studiu pe reprezentarea aşa numitelor “documente esenţiale”, un concept prezentat pentru prima dată în 1995 de către Glänzel şi Czerwon. Sintagma “documente esenţiale” denotă documente care au o poziţie centrală în frontul de cercetare, exprimată în multe legături puternice de asociere bibliografică. Identificarea şi reprezentarea documentelor esenţiale necesită, de obicei, un cadru larg de cercetare multidisciplinară şi în acest studiu a fost utilizat volumul din 2003 al Science Citation Index. Din această bază de date, a fost ales un subset de documente esenţiale care relatează despre izbucnirea SARS din 2002 pentru a ilustra aplicarea acestei metode de reprezentare. S-a demonstrat că, în acest caz, metoda a identificat cu succes teme de cercetare interpretabile şi că gruparea iterativă pe două niveluri ulterioare de aglomerare este posibil să ofere informaţii utile şi actuale.

The BIR workshop brings together experts in Bibliometrics and Information Retrieval. While sometimes perceived as rather loosely related, these research areas share various interests and face similar challenges. Our motivation as organizers of the BIR workshop stemmed from a twofold observation. First, both communities only partly overlap, albeit sharing various interests. Second, it will be profitable for both sides to tackle some of the emerging problems that scholars face today when they have to identify relevant and high quality literature in the fast growing number of electronic publications available worldwide. Bibliometric techniques are not yet used widely to enhance retrieval processes in digital libraries, although they offer value-added effects for users. Information professionals working in libraries and archives, however, are increasingly confronted with applying bibliometric techniques in their services. The first BIR workshop in 2014 set the research agenda by introducing each group to the other, illustrating state-of-the-art methods, reporting on current research problems, and brainstorming about common interests. The second workshop in 2015 further elaborated these themes. This third BIR workshop aims to foster a common ground for the incorporation of bibliometric-enhanced services into scholarly search engine interfaces. In particular we will address specific communities, as well as studies on large, cross-domain collections like Mendeley and ResearchGate. RESUMO Objetivo: Identificar e caracterizar a producao cientifica de enfermeiros relacionada a vulnerabilidade dos jovens as Doencas Sexualmente Transmissiveis. Metodo: Estudo descritivo, de recorte transversal (2009-2014), do tipo bibliometrico, realizado na Biblioteca Virtual de Saude e no Catalogo de Teses e dissertacoes da ABEn. A amostra foi constituida por 40 artigos, 05 teses e 05 dissertacoes. Resultados: Os achados evidenciam que a maioria das publicacoes foi realizada por enfermeiros docentes com titulacao de doutorado. A tematica do HIV/Aids, o enfoque da educacao para a saude, a pesquisa de campo e a analise qualitativa dos achados tiveram maior representatividade no conjunto amostral analisado. Conclusao: Embora as DST se manifestem na populacao jovem e documentos do Ministerio da Saude do Brasil evidenciem o aumento da incidencia do HIV/aids neste contingente populacional, a producao cientifica acerca do tema no recorte temporal estudado e irregular e reduzida. ABSTRACT Objective: To identify and characterize the scientific production of nurses related to young people's vulnerability to sexually transmitted diseases (STD). Method: Descriptive study of transverse cutting (2009-2013), bibliometric research, conducted through the search of publications on the Health Virtual Library and the catalog of theses and dissertations of Brazilian Association of Nursing. The sample consisted of 40 articles, 05 theses and 05 dissertations. Results: The most of the publications were carried out by nurses’ teachers with doctoral degree. The theme of HIV/aids, focus of health education, field research and qualitative analysis of the findings had greater representativeness in the sample analyzed. Conclusion: Although STD have been manifested in young people and the Health Ministry of Brazil showing the increased incidence of HIV/aids in this group, the scientific literature on the subject in the studied timeframe is irregular and reduced. El tema del VIH/SIDA, el enfoque de educacion para la salud, la investigacion de campo y analisis cualitativo de los resultados tuvieron mayor representatividad en la muestra analizada. Conclusion: Aunque las enfermedades de transmision sexual si manifiesta en los jovenes y los documentos del Ministerio de salud de Brasil demostra el aumento de la incidencia de VIH/SIDA en esta poblacion, la literatura cientifica sobre el tema en el periodo estudiado es irregular y reducido. The foundation of every research project is a comprehensive literature review. The search for scientific literature in information systems is a discipline at the intersection of information retrieval and digital libraries; recent user studies in both fields show two typical weaknesses of the classical IR approach: ranking of retrieved and maybe relevant documents and the language problem during the query formulation phase. At the same time the performance of traditional retrieval systems that rely primarily on textual document and query features have been stagnating for years, as could be observed in IR evaluation campaigns such as TREC or CLEF. Therefore alternative approaches to surpass these two problem fields are needed. Recent developments in the area of applied informetrics show very promising effects by using long-known informetric and bibliometric methods like the analysis of power-law distributions described by Lotka's, Zipf's or Bradford's laws, or the application of co-occurrences analysis for entities like authors, journals or references of scientific literature. International audience; This paper analyses the Organic Food & Farming (OF&F) scientific domain dynamic throught a "progressive document co-citation analysis" based on peer-reviewed papers from Web of Science. The dataset of OF&F domain displayed an exponential growth and a thematic diversification pattern. Both dominant and marginal clusters in association with their main cited articles were identified. This study enables to pinpoint major themes addressed or emerging. It can feed further research work and projects, namely with the definition of information system and research policy

Analyse des correspondances et analyse par mots clefs de dix ans d'articles du BMS (1993-2003): Avec le programme Trideux d'analyse factorielle des correspondances et le programme Calliope d'analyse de co-occurrence de mots clefs, nous traitons la base données constituée de tous les mots clefs décrivant les articles de recherche et les rapports "recherche en cours" publiés par le BMS de décembre 1993 à octobre 2003. Nous présentons les résultats de ces analyses, suivis de la liste complète des tables des matières, l'index des auteurs et celui des titres des articles et des rapports. Using Trideux factorial correspondence analysis and Calliope co-occurrence of key word analysis, we apply them to the data base of key words characterizing each research article or ongoing research report published by the Bulletin of Sociological Methodology (BSM) from December 1993 to October 2003. We present the results of these analyses, followed by the complete list of tables of contents, the author index and the article-title index for the articles and reports analyzed.

PurposeThe article aims to investigate the customers for the document supply of print serials.Design/methodology/approachThe study is based on data from INIST‐CNRS for document supply requests in pharmacology. Data were collected from 1998 to 2005 (10,000+ customer accounts with 4.6m orders).FindingsThe article provides information about the distribution of orders per customer type, about the geographical origin of customers, about the ordering trends among pharmaceutical customers and of pharmaceutical journals.Originality/valueThis is the last of three articles on a longitudinal study over 13 years on different aspects of the relationship between document supply and impact factor (citations) in pharmacology, a scientific domain with a high use of scientific information.

Agents producing and exchanging knowledge are forming as a whole a socio-semantic complex system. Studying such knowledge communities offers theoretical challenges, with the perspective of naturalizing further social sciences, as well as practical challenges, with potential applications enabling agents to know the dynamics of the system they are participating in.The present thesis lies within the framework of this research program. Alongside and more broadly, we address the question of reconstruction in social science. Reconstruction is a reverse problem consisting of two issues: (i) deduce a given high-level observation for a considered system from low-level phenomena; and (ii) reconstruct the evolution of high-level observations from the dynamics of lower-level objects.In this respect, we argue that several significant aspects of the structure of a knowledge community are primarily produced by the co-evolution between agents and concepts, i.e. the evolution of an epistemic network. In particular, we address the first reconstruction issue by using Galois lattices to rebuild taxonomies of knowledge communities from low-level observation of relationships between agents and concepts; achieving ultimately an historical description (inter alia field progress, decline, specialization, interaction - merging or splitting). We then micro-found various stylized facts regarding this particular structure, by exhibiting processes at the level of agents accounting for the emergence of epistemic community structure. After assessing the empirical interaction and growth processes, and assuming that agents and concepts are co-evolving, we successfully propose a morphogenesis model rebuilding relevant high-level stylized facts.We finally defend a general epistemological point related to the methodology of complex system reconstruction, eventually supporting our choice of a co-evolutionary framework., Des agents produisant, manipulant et échangeant des connaissances constituent un système complexe socio-sémantique, dont l'étude représente un défi à la fois théorique, dans la perspective d'étendre la naturalisation des sciences sociales, et pratique, avec des applications permettant aux agents de connaître la dynamique du système dans lequel ils évoluent.Cette thèse se situe dans le cadre de ce programme de recherche. Parallèlement et plus largement, nous nous intéressons à la question de la reconstruction en sciences sociales. La reconstruction est un problème inverse comprenant deux volets complémentaires: (i) la déduction d'observations de haut-niveau à partir de phénomènes de bas-niveau; et (ii) la reproduction de l'évolution des observations de haut-niveau à partir de la dynamique des objets de bas-niveau.Nous affirmons que plusieurs aspects significatifs de la structure d'une communauté de savoirs sont principalement produits par la dynamique d'un réseau épistémique où co-évoluent agents et concepts. En particulier, nous résolvons le premier volet du problème de la reconstruction en utilisant des treillis de Galois afin de recréer des taxonomies de communautés de savoirs à partir de simples relations entre agents et concepts; nous obtenons de fait une description historique se rapportant à la progression des champs, leur déclin, leur spécialisation ou leurs interactions (fusion ou scission). Nous micro-fondons ensuite la structure de ces communautés de savoirs en exhibant et en estimant empiriquement des processus d'interaction au niveau des agents, en co-évolution avec les concepts au sein du réseau épistémique, qui rendent compte de la morphogenèse et de l'émergence de plusieurs faits stylisés structurels de haut-niveau - il s'agit là du deuxième volet.Nous défendons finalement un point de vue épistémologique concernant la méthodologique générale de reconstruction d'un système complexe qui appuie notre choix d'un cadre co-évolutionnaire.

International audience; Using recent original data from three different sources, the article exhibits some strengths and weaknesses of science in Colombia. It shows that research in this country is in a process of growth although recent results of this positive trend are still to be confirmed. Comparing the evolution of science in Colombia with that of Latin America as a whole, describing and explaining its geographical and institutional concentration as well as its thematic distribution, it also reveals the interdependance between science production dynamics and international cooperation programmes. A basic argument is that the development of science in this country, even though it is fragile and erratic, does not lack sound bases. The indicators used suggest indeed an autonomous scientific motion and inspiration which does not contradict the internationalization process of Colombian science but rectifies the picture of an excessively isolated or dependent community that used to be portrayed. Chilean universities are responsible for more than 80% of the science produced in the country, which in the last 20 years with some periods of great difficulties, has grown more than 600%. One of the underlying problems of the governments of developing countries to delineate suitable strategies to allocate efficiently the few funds available, has been the absence of clarity to distinguish the individuals and centers committed with competitive scientific research. As a consequence, the state funds, which in part are scarce because the region invest to little in science, do not always reach to the right people and to the right places, amplifying the already existing problems for the good scientists that resist to emigrate. To evaluate the corresponding situation in Chile, and to follow the results of substantial actions to support the scientific activity in the country, we have examined the performance of state financed universities.
