Abstract

We report the first results of molecular frame photoelectron emission for dissociative photoionization (DPI) of H2 and D2 molecules induced by a spectrally filtered single high harmonic of a few femtosecond duration, using coincident electron-ion velocity vector correlation techniques. For the studied photon energies around 32 eV, where the resonant excitation of the Q1 and Q2 doubly excited states occurs, autoionization and nuclear dynamics are coupled on a few femtosecond timescale, giving rise to quantum interferences. Molecular frame photoelectron angular distributions (MFPADs), traced as a function of the kinetic energy release of the atomic fragments, provide the most sensitive observables for such complex dynamics. These results compare well with recent spectrally resolved experiments using synchrotron radiation which are also reported. As a novel XUV light source running at multi-kHz repetition rate and synchronized with laser pulses, high-order harmonic generation (HHG) opens new possibilities for extending these investigations to time-resolved studies at the femtosecond scale. 6. Structure-reactivity relationship in langmuir-blodgett films of bisethylenedithio-tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TFF) derivatives.

Abstract

BEDT-TFF derivatives, labeled 1a and 1b are used to build Langmuir-Blodgett films. — In the first step, oxidation by iodine vapor leads, in both cases, to the formation of radical cation dimers: (1a·+)2 and (1b·+)2. However, the subsequent behavior of films strongly depends on the way the aliphatic substituents are grafted onto the electroactive nucleus. Built-up films of 1b go back reversibly to their initial insulating state, and those of 1a undergo a solid state reorganization leading to a permanent conducting phase. These differences are explained in terms of steric hindrance. Spectroscopic arguments are used to derive the stoichiometry of the conducting films of 1a, which is likely to be that of conducting bulk crystals of (BEDT-TFF)2I3. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

26. Fabrication and characterization of super-polished wedged borosilicate nano-cells.

Abstract

We report on the fabrication of an all-glass vapor cell with a thickness varying linearly between (exactly) 0 and ∼1  μm. The cell is made in Borofloat glass that allows state-of-the-art super polish roughness, a full optical bonding assembling and easy filling with alkali vapors. We detail the challenging manufacture steps and present experimental spectra resulting from fluorescence and transmission spectroscopy of the cesium D1 line. The very small surface roughness of 1 Å rms is promising to investigate the atom-surface interaction or to minimize parasite stray light.

27. Study of normal incidence of three-component multilayer mirrors in the range 20-40 nm.

Abstract

We study theoretically and experimentally the increase of normal incidence reflectivity generated by addition of a third material in the period of a standard periodic multilayer, for wavelengths in the range 20 to 40 nm. The nature and thickness of the three materials has been optimized to provide the best enhancement of reflectivity. Theoretical reflectivity of an optimized B4C/Mo/Si multilayer reaches 42% at 32 nm. B4C/Mo/Si multilayers have been deposited with a magnetron sputtering system and a reflectivity of 34% at 32 nm has been measured on a synchrotron radiation source.
