Abstract Bioinspired organic sensors with excellent flexibility, biocompatibility, sensing performance, and self‐adaptability have attracted considerable attention due to their fundamental role in next‐generation intelligent sensory systems with simultaneous sensing and processing functions, such as advanced robots, disease diagnosis, Internet of Things, human–robot interaction systems, and beyond. The design of advanced bioinspired organic sensors requires a deep understanding of the interplay between the unique material property, sensing mechanism as well as intelligent functionality. Here, the recent progress of bioinspired organic sensors for artificial perceptron covering visual, tactile, and other bionic sensors from the view of materials, sensing mechanisms, and functionality, is summarized. Furthermore, the intelligent applications of bioinspired organic sensors, including associative learning, information security, electronic skin, and integrated artificial sensory systems, are presented. Finally, the potential challenges and prospects of bioinspired organic sensors are discussed, providing a promising avenue toward advanced bioinspired organic sensors for future‐oriented intelligent applications.

Collapsed buildings should be detected immediately after earthquakes for humanitarian assistance and post-disaster recovery. Automatic collapsed building detection using deep learning has recently become increasingly popular because of its superior ability to obtain discriminative feature representations. Among various types of data, airborne 3D point clouds are especially useful for detecting collapsed buildings as they precisely record the height information of buildings. However, existing methods are based on the universal point cloud analysis technology that does not explicitly consider the nature of building damage. In this study, we propose Damage-Sensitive Network (DS-Net), a dedicated approach for collapsed building detection. The core of DS-Net is Laplacian Unit (LU), a simple yet effective module for 3D point clouds designed to enhance the feature representation of the damaged part to facilitate collapsed building detection. We perform extensive experiments and demonstrate that DS-Net achieves superior performance compared with existing methods. In particular, a detailed comparison of DS-Net with PointNet++, the standard network on which DS-Net’s design is based, found that DS-Net provides an 8.3% gain in precision, 3.0% gain in recall, and 6.4% gain in IoU over PointNet++ in detecting collapsed buildings. Moreover, it is verified that the detection performance can be further enhanced with increased computational resources. Qualitative analyses reveal that DS-Net excels at detecting damage manifested as roof deformations, debris, and inclinations. In addition, DS-Net produces smoother predictions with sharper boundaries compared to the baseline due to the adaptive nature of LUs. Furthermore, a visual explanation analysis based on Grad-CAM is performed to analyze how DS-Net understands building damage. The result suggests that DS-Net can accurately locate varieties of building damage.

Associative learning is a critical learning principle uniting discrete ideas and percepts to improve individuals’ adaptability. However, enabling high tunability of the association processes as in biological counterparts and thus integration of multiple signals from the environment, ideally in a single device, is challenging. Here, we fabricate an organic ferroelectric neuromem capable of monadically implementing optically modulated associative learning. This approach couples the photogating effect at the interface with ferroelectric polarization switching, enabling highly tunable optical modulation of charge carriers. Our device acts as a smarter Pavlovian dog exhibiting adjustable associative learning with the training cycles tuned from thirteen to two. In particular, we obtain a large output difference (>103), which is very similar to the all-or-nothing biological sensory/motor neuron spiking with decrementless conduction. As proof-of-concept demonstrations, photoferroelectric coupling-based applications in cryptography and logic gates are achieved in a single device, indicating compatibility with biological and digital data processing.

Real-time stereo vision is attractive in many areas such as outdoor mapping and navigation. As a popular accelerator in the image processing field, GPU is widely used for the studies of the stereo vision algorithms. Recently, many stereo vision systems on GPU have achieved low error rate, as a result of the development of deep learning. However, their processing speed is normally far from the real-time requirement. In this paper, we propose a real-time stereo vision system on GPU for the high-resolution images. This system also maintains a low error rate compared with other fast systems. In our approach, the image is resized to reduce the computational complexity and to realize the real-time processing. The low error rate is kept by using the cost aggregation with multiple blocks, secondary matching and sub-pixel estimation. Its processing speed is 41 fps for 2888×1920 pixels images when the maximum disparity is 760.

The fourth instar larva and pupa of Dasyhelea alula Yu, 2005 are described and illustrated using a Scanning Electron Microscope. The adult male and female of this species are redescribed. Immatures were collected from flooded soil near a pond in Xiaojiawan village, Guizhou province, China and reared in the laboratory. The studied material is deposited in the Insect Collection of Zunyi Medical University.

A checklist of the subgenus Culicoides (Avaritia Fox) (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae: Culicoides) in China, currently including 57 species, is provided. Their full citations, more detailed locations of the type locality, and distribution of each species by province, and/or state of each species are also provided. Culicoides (Avaritia) fenggangensis Liu & Hou, sp. n. is described and illustrated, based on both male and female specimens from China. The new species is compared with its similar congeners, C. (A.) comparis Liu & Yu, 2005 and C. (A.) dentiformis McDonald & Lu, 1972.

Abstract Objective Amiodarone (AM) is a drug commonly used in patients with ventricular arrhythmias. It can damage vascular endothelial cells and easily cause phlebitis. At present, the prevention and treatment of phlebitis induced by the use of AM is not clear due to the lack of corresponding primary research. Isoliquiritigenin (ISL) has an anti‐inflammatory effect, but until now, has not been explored much in the field of research in primary care nursing. The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy and mechanism of action of ISL in treating phlebitis induced by AM. Methods In our study, we used human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) that were divided into three groups: the NC group (normal), the AM group (AM 30 μmol/L for 24 h), and the ISL pretreatment group (isoliquiritigenin 10 μmol/L after 1 h of pretreatment with amiodarone for 24 h). We used CCK‐8 to detect cell proliferation, cell scratch assay to detect the migration capability of cells, flow cytometry to measure apoptosis, angiogenesis assay to check the total length and total branches of angiogenesis, and PCR and WB to detect the expression of PCNA, casepase‐3, and VEGFA. WB was used to detect NF‐κBp65 and p‐NF‐κBp65 expression. Results Compared with the AM group, the ISL pretreatment promoted cell proliferation and migration, inhibited cell apoptosis, increased the total length and total branches of angiogenesis, and downregulated p‐NF‐κBp65 expression. Conclusion ISL shows promise in the prevention and treatment of clinical phlebitis and can be used as a potential therapeutic drug to prevent phlebitis.

Schistosomiasis is a notable neglected tropical disease caused by trematodes that infect mainly the intestines, bladder, and liver. Because of the unavailability of a schistosomiasis vaccine, control of the disease depends mainly on chemotherapy. Praziquantel (PZQ), which is active against all schistosome species (Among the five major species of human schistosomes-S. mansoni, S. haematobium, S. japonicum, S. intercalatum, and S. mekongi, S. mansoni is the most prevalent) as well as probably their hybrids and the recommended drug by the World Health Organization for schistosomiasis treatment at either the community or individual level, has become the exclusive drug because of its low cost and efficacy against the adult form of all schistosome species. In view of rapid re-infection following treatment and concern about the development of tolerance and/or resistance to praziquantel, there is an urgent need for research and development of novel drugs for the prevention and treatment of schistosomiasis. This comprehensive review shall attempt to briefly review the recent advances in the synthesis of antischistosomal drugs and agents in the literature from 1990s to now, particularly focusing on the context of potential development of antischistosomal agents. It shall be of interest for both the synthetic chemist as well as the pharmacologist.
