Sixty different varieties of brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) were evaluated for character association. The findings showed that the genotypic correlation was higher than the phenotypic correlation coefficient for most traits. Strong positive correlation was observed between the number of fruits per plant, branches per plant, and fruit yield per plant. Positive correlation was observed between moisture content and fruit characteristics, such as fruit volume and average fruit weight. Twenty one crosses resulting from 7 × 7 diallel excluding reciprocal were studied to know the magnitude of heterosis over better parent and standard variety for yield and its attributing characters in rabi mungbean. The highest heterosis to the extent of 37.23% over the check Co-4 and 82.20% over the check GBM-1 was observed in cross combination Co-4 × Meha for seed yield per plant, which also exhibited high heterosis percentage for yield and yield components. The promising hybrids viz. Co-4 × Meha, Co-4 × GBM-1, GBM-1 × Meha and Rm-9-129 × Co-4 were identified which have great potential to exploit the hybrid vigour or to isolate the desirable segregants for the development of rabi mungbean varieties with chilling tolerant ability or photo-thermo insensitivity, so as to exploit potential of rabi mungbean in heavy rainfall zone as rice fallows. Correlation and path coefficient analysis in Forty genotypes of sunflower [Helianthus animus (L.)]. Association analysis between seed yield per plant and other fourteen characters revealed that seed yield per plant showed highly significant and positive correlation with head diameter, number of seeds per capitula. number of filled seeds per capitula and 100 seed weight at both genotypic and phenotypic levels. These seed yield per plant also possessed positive association with days to maturity, stem diameter, number of leaves per plant, leaf area at flowering, plant height, oil content and vacant inner diameter. The characters days to 50 per cent flowering, days to initiation of flower and number of unfilled seeds per capitula exhibited negative correlation with seed yield per plant. Impulse-control disorders (ICDs) are becoming more commonly recognized in the Parkinson disease (PD) population. To date, there are no definitive methods of treating dopamine dysregulation syndromes in PD patients. We sought to uncover an effective treatment option for future study. We report a series of 3 PD patients with ICDs who were effectively treated with valproate. Based on these encouraging preliminary observations, future controlled clinical trials investigating the efficacy of valproate for ICDs in PD are recommended., (Copyright © 2011 Elsevier Ltd.
