1. The Practicality and Effectiveness of Case Study-Based Module on Chemical Thermodynamics Course (Ideal and Real Gases) as Learning Tool during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract

The case study-based module on chemical thermodynamics course (ideal and real gases) was developed to fulfill the needs of undergraduate students in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to test feasibility of case study-based module. The case study-based module refers to the 4D model (define, design, develop, and disseminate) by integrating the one group pretest-posttest design at the develop stage. The feasibility of the module was measured through validity, practicality and effectiveness using validation sheet, evaluation test sheet and questionnaire sheet. Data were analyzed descriptively, quantitatively (Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test) and qualitatively. The case study-based module was suitable for one of learning tools, which was proven by the findings that (1) meets valid and reliable criteria, (2) meets practical criteria with support for general achievements students' very positive response to the aspects of module (construction, material, motivation and case study), and (3) meets the effective criteria by increasing the average score pretest-posttest in medium category which contains the cognitive level of analyze-C4, evaluate-C5, and create-C6. The implication of development case study-based module can facilitate students in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic so that they will successfully reach the course learning outcomes of Chemical Thermodynamics, which includes mastery of knowledge about main principles of thermodynamics, ability to solve science and technology problems, ability to use information and communication technology based learning resources, make decisions based on the relationship of concepts with laboratory activities, and practice responsibility.

2. Dynamic equilibrium: Identification of initial conceptions and misconceptions on prospective teachers.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the pre-test and post-test results after being given gradual test instruments to students. The method used in this research is a mixed method, a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, namely the Concurrent Embedded Strategy, which is a combination of qualitative methods and quantitative methods carried out simultaneously. The instrument used is a worksheet that was developed based on the representation-metacognitive reinforcement conceptual change model (R-MR CCM). Four students experienced misconceptions during the pre-test and, after being given a gradual test instrument, were able to reduce the misconceptions to appropriate conceptions. There was one student who experienced misconceptions during the pre-test and, after being given the gradual test instrument, still experienced misconceptions, and There was one student who had an appropriate conception during the pre-test but experienced misconceptions during the post-test. Based on the number of pre-test and post-test results, the gradual test instrument is still stated to reduce misconceptions, but educators also have an important role in directing students so that they do not experience misconceptions when working on the test instrument. Abstract

This research aims to determine the impact of misconceptions about dynamic equilibrium, which can potentially cause misconceptions about chemical equilibrium shifts in concentration factors, and the correlation category between misconceptions in dynamic equilibrium and chemical equilibrium shifts in concentration factors. The method used in this research is the descriptive qualitative method. The instrument used is a worksheet developed based on the representation-metacognitive reinforcement conceptual change model (R-MR CCM). Students who understand the concept of dynamic equilibrium will more easily understand the chemical equilibrium shifts in concentration factors. However, students who have had misconceptions about dynamic equilibrium will tend to have misconceptions about the concept of shifting chemical equilibrium on concentration factors because the idea of dynamic equilibrium is prerequisite material for the concept of shifting chemical equilibrium on concentration factors. Misconceptions in dynamic equilibrium impacting the misconception in chemical equilibrium shifts and misconceptions about the idea of dynamic equilibrium and shifts in chemical equilibrium on concentration factors can be reduced using a worksheet with a representation-metacognitive reinforcement conceptual change model. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis pengaruh variable Kepemimpinan dan Pengawasan secara parsial dan simultan terhadap Disiplin Kerja pegawai Rumah Sakit Jiwa Tampan. Analisis Penelitian ini menggunakan dua variabel independen, kepemimpinan dan pengawasan, dan satu Variabel dependennya adalah disiplin kerja. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah pegawai Rumah Sakit Jiwa Tampan Pekanbaru dengan teknik metode sampel acak stratifikasi (stratified random sampling adalah pengambilan sampel yang tidak memberikan peluang atau kesempatan sama bagi setiap anggota populasi untuk diplih sampel. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara Kuisioner dan Wawancara. Jumlah Populasi 219 dan sampel yang didapat sebanyak 69 orang. Hasil diperoleh nilai t diketahui nilai thitung sebesar 2,048 >1,991, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa variabel kepemimpinan (X1) dan pengawasan (X2) berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Disiplin Kerja (Y) . Hasil diperoleh Nilai R2 nilai koefisien determinasi sebesar 0,458. Hal ini berarti 45,8 % sedangkan sisanya 54,2 % . dijelaskan oleh variabel lain yang tidak dibahas dalam penelitian ini

5. Students’ responses during speaking class using scaffolding talk

Abstract

The problems confronted by the students are being afraid of making mistake, limited practice, and lack of motivation. In this case, innovation in speaking skill should be innovative. The purpose of this study is to investigate the implementation of scaffolding talk’s types in teaching speaking atan upper secondary school. In addition, this study analyses students’ responses of scaffolding talk strategy in speaking class. The research subject comprised 35 EFL learners. This paper presents the outcome of qualitative research by collecting the data through interview and questionnaire in analysing students’ responses toward scaffolding technique used by the teacher. The results reveal that several kinds of scaffolding types were used in teaching speaking, including instructing, inviting student participation questioning, explaining, and giving conclusion. Furthermore, thestudents were motivated and active in participating speaking class activities.

This study investigates moral values in the Little Fires Everywhere novel by Celeste Ng. The researcher investigates moral values through novels because today the moral crisis also occurs in the world of education. Researchers want to find out whether they can learn moral values through the novel or not. Based on the investigation, researchers used novels to find moral values. The classification of moral values has concerned with motherhood, bravery, love, togetherness, honesty, independent, discipline, wise, and diligent. The researcher concludes that the findings suggest that some moral values can be learned in the novel entitled Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan translation melalui metode bernyanyi dan menggambar untuk memahami kosakata Bahasa Inggris siswa Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) Tunas Cendekia Porong Sidoarjo. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif fenomenologi, di mana peneliti sebagai instrumen melakukan pengamatan secara langsung di lapangan dalam penggalian data. Adapun uji keabsahan data dilakukan dengan cara Triangulasi Sumber yang terdiri dari guru, wali murid, dan siswa. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diketahui bahwa penerapan translation melalui metode bernyanyi dan menggambar memudahkan siswa dalam memahami kosakata Bahasa Inggris dengan cara yang menyenangkan.
