The purposes of our study are identfying structures of our Artifact Development method and structures of its environment. The structures need to be recognized in order to improve robustness of the method and the environment. We are using case-based research to recognize it. There are three cases (triangulation) used in this study: a Reverse Engineering project on Open Source Application from C Language become requirements document (Applicationl), a Software Engineering project on a prototype, developed using Java Language (Application2), and a Reengineering project from a Web Based application became requirements document and analysis document (Application3). A swarm Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or quad copter robot for object localization and tracking has been developed. The robot is potentially utilized for military purpose, i.e. doing patrol continuously especially in frontier area. In other words, the UAV is proposed to carry out patrol and exploration by exploring coverage area, find, localize and track suspicious objects. The swarm robots are equipped with Modified Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Algorithm for intelligent feature. PSO is an optimization algorithm where each agent of swarm will use its individual perception (local base) and community perception (global base). This swarm quad copter system was implemented using Robot Operating System (ROS) Framework. Experiment was conducted with 3 quadcopter agents and one object as the target. Two main scenarios have been exercised, i.e. a scenario with steady target and another one with moving target. Experimental result shows that Modified PSO implemented in this system has better performance compared to fully random based moving algorithm for object localization and tracking. In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a procedure to obtain embryo by inseminating oocyte and sperm outside human body. Several embryos are produced at the end of this procedure and it remains a problem to select the most appropriate embryo to be implanted into uterus. Many strategies have been proposed for selection of the embryo. The latest is time-lapse microscopy which monitors the embryo development continuously. An automatic method using computer to detect and locate the position of the embryo is thus needed. In this paper, an approach based on a modification of Hough Transform using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is proposed to approximate the embryo as a circle. Each PSO particle represents a circle in the parameter space and mainly used to reduce the computational complexity of Hough Transform. Experiment result showed that the proposed method is able to detect the position of the embryo accurately. The result from this method can be used to extract criteria for embryo transfer purpose. Countries such as Indonesia and Japan are prone to disasters. Telecommunication infrastructure are often damaged as a result of disasters, while reliable communication link is vital in search and rescue operation following a disaster. To overcome this problem, we developed swarm quadrotor robots capable of self-deployment and extending the coverage of available Wi-Fi network. Since most hand-held devices now has Wi-Fi connectivity, most device can join the network the quadrotors created. The quadrotor robot is based on Parrot ARDrone quadrotor with Wi-Fi adapters and added GPS module. This research focuses only on the self-deployment movement algorithm of the quadrotors which is based on Takahashi's distributed self-deployment algorithm. Extreme Programming (XP) is a widely used method for software development. This method is used to improve the quality of software. However, the use of XP is limited to small and medium organization. Therefore, Industrial Extreme Programming (IXP) is developed to meet the needs of larger organization as an evolution of XP. However, IXP is not accompanied by complete procedures and tools needed by developer. Rational Unified Process (RUP) comes as a software development process that is flexible to other framework to be applied in. RUP provides clear steps and responsibilities in the development of software. There are a number of ways to monitor traffic and help people to navigate through or avoid traffic jams. A prospective way is to use smart phones with GPS enabled device as traffic sensors, which complement existing sensors. This paper attempts to highlight a number of progressive steps in the effort to build an integrated ITS, which harnesses smart phones as intelligent agent. However, a number of questions should be addressed first: How smart phones can avoid map mismatching phenomenon which is a common problem in navigation devices ? What if there are compromised agents which attempt to invalidate the gathered data ? and how to place detectors in such a system. Consequently, there are three possible solutions discussed in this paper: the use of non-overlapping zones in Virtual Detection Zone (VDZ), filtering algorithm to ignore compromised agents and the use of macroscopic simulation to aid the placement of VDZ in selected roads. Inteligent Transportation System (ITS) is becoming a world wide solution for traffic problem. Various source of information should support the ITS decision making, to name a few: social media, mobile agent, and Closed Circuit Television or CCTV. In this paper we present a method to estimate vehicles speed using video processing in real time. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is used to clasify vehicles. Kalman filter is harnessed to track and identify passing vehicles in real time. Then vehicle speed can be estimated via Euclidean Distance method. Speed accuracy obtained from ten video data, is in the ranges of 63 to 99.5%. The video data from this research is made available for public use. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
