The anti-inflammatory effects of linagliptin in LPS-induced inflammation in the TLR4-independent pathway have not been examined before. We examined the anti-inflammatory effects of linagliptin in the TLR4- and the LBP-independent pathway.Methods: U937 cells were cultured in the medium supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS) and treated with 100 nM phorbol myristate acetate for 48 h. Cells were then left untreated or were treated with 10 μg/mL anti-TLR4 antibodies alone or in combination with linagliptin for 1 h in media supplemented with or without 10% FBS. The cells were divided into 5 groups: a) control cells (untreated) b) cells treated with LPS c) cells treated with 10 μg/mL anti-TLR4 antibodies d) cells treated with LPS and 10 μg/mL anti-TLR4 antibodies and e) cells treated with LPS, 10 μg/mL anti-TLR4 antibodies, and linagliptin. The LPS concentrations used were 50 pg/mL or 100 pg/mL for cells treated in the presence of 10% FBS and 100 pg/mL or 1 μg/mL for cells treated in the absence of FBS. Linagliptin concentrations of 1 nM, 10 nM, and 100 nM were used for treatment. The supernatants were analyzed for interleukin (IL)-6 production after 24 h of various treatments.Results: LPS increased IL-6 production compared to the untreated control cells, and anti-TLR4 antibody suppressed LPS-induced increased IL-6 levels. Linagliptin suppressed LPS-induced IL-6 production in a concentration-dependent manner in the presence of FBS. However, only 100 nM linagliptin could suppress LPS-induced IL-6 production in the absence of FBS.Conclusion: Concentration-dependent and -independent inflammatory suppression was observed following linagliptin treatment after LPS induction in an experimental model of TLR4 inhibition by anti-TLR4 antibodies. The solar type J radio burst is a variant of type III bursts, which are a probe for understanding solar energetic electrons and local electron density. This study investigates a type J burst event on 2017 September 9. We have combined the data from the extreme-ultraviolet (EUV) imaging and the EUV Imaging Spectrometer (EIS) to analyze the event. Within 4 minutes several type J bursts with similar morphology occur. Two of them, with clear fundamental and second harmonic bands, are studied in detail. We find a delay of 2 ± 0.5 s between their different harmonic bands. During type J bursts, only one coronal loop brightens significantly at its northern footpoint, in correlation with the continuous injection of erupting jets into the loop. The EUV intensity of the brightening footpoint is correlated with the radio flux at 245 and 410 MHz, with correlation coefficients of 0.2 and 0.4, respectively. These observations suggest that the type J bursts should originate from this coronal loop. By analyzing the electron number density distribution along the coronal loop diagnosed from the EIS data and the time evolution of the plasma frequency calculated from the type J burst, we determine that the velocities of the energetic electrons exciting the two type Js are 0.10 ± 0.02 c and 0.12 ± 0.02 c. Sood (d) Keywords: Io; Satellites; atmospheres; Jupiter; Magnetosphere Abstract: We report on two-dimensional imaging observations of D-line emissions from the extended distribution of iogenic sodium atoms with two fields of view ([+ or -]20 R.sub.J (narrow FOV) and [+ or -]400 R.sub.J (wide FOV)) simultaneously by using a portable small telescope or camera lens. We derived dynamic feature of the band-shaped and spray-shaped distributions near Io's orbit by means of continuous observation. The observations confirm the phenomenological behavior of the sodium cloud on two spatial scales, as previously observed by Pilcher et al. [Pilcher, C.B., Smyth, W.H., Combi, M.R., Fertel, J.H., 1984. Astrophys. J. 287, 427-444], Schneider et al. [Schneider, N.M., Trauger, J.T., Wilson, J.K., Brown, D.I., Evans, R.W., Shemansky, D.E., 1991. Science 253, 1394-1397], and Mendillo et al. [Mendillo, M., Baumgartner, J., Flynn, B., Hughes, W.S., 1990. Nature 348, 312-314]. We also confirm an elongated oval emission distribution of the sodium nebula and derivation of its detailed east-west asymmetry depending on Io's phase angle, which was first noted by Flynn et al. [Flynn, B., Mendillo, M., Baumgartner, J., 1994. J. Geophys. Res. 99, 8403-8409]. We then did model analyses to investigate the source process for sodium atoms and the dynamics behind their distribution. We conclude that the essential of molecular ion mechanisms to the band-shaped distribution is in agreement with Wilson and Schneider [Wilson, J.K., Schneider, N.M., 1999. J. Geophys. Res. 104, 16567-16583]. We differ from Wilson et al. [Wilson, J.K., Mendillo, M., Baumgartner, J., Schneider, N.M., Trauger, J.T., Flynn, B., 2002. Icarus 157, 476-489] in finding that charge exchange process contributes more to the spray-shaped distribution and sodium nebula than sputtering does. These results derived the double-peaked velocity distribution of released sodium atoms, and re-confirmed the source rates in agreement with past studies. The reception properties of the Radio Wave Instrument (RWI) onboard JUICE (Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer) have been determined using numerical methods applied to a mesh-grid model of the spacecraft. The RWI is part of the RPWI (Radio and Plasma Wave Investigation) and consists of three perpendicular dipoles mounted on a long boom. We determined their effective lengths vectors and capacitive impedances of 8.9 pF. We also investigated the change in effective antenna angles as a function of solar panel rotation and calculated the directivity of the antennas at higher frequencies up to the maximum frequency of 45 MHz of the receiver. We found that the RWI dipoles can be used for directionfinding with an accura....cy of 2. up to a frequency of 1.5 MHz. Additionally we calculated the influence of strong pulses from the JUICE active radar on RPWI and found that they should do no harm to its sensors and receivers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
