This study focuses on the detection of suspicious transactions characterized by the opaque and complex electronic channels that have emerged with the advancement of electronic financial technology. A model that can immediately reflect trends in various types of fund and transaction flows, and autonomously learn complex transaction types, is proposed. As a key outcome, an internal control model for detecting suspicious transactions based on the risk-based approach is constructed by utilizing autoencoder to enhance anti-money laundering (AML) operations, and this method surpasses traditional AML methods. Additionally, the proposed model facilitates the extraction of candidate factors for suspicious transactions and updates warning models in AML monitoring systems, thereby allowing for the analysis of alert cases. As a result, AML operations based on the proposed model are quantitatively and qualitatively superior to those based on the traditional approaches, resulting in swift processing by avoiding exhaustive examinations of suspicious transaction types. This research provides information that can improve the AML operation systems used within the financial sector by evaluating the risk of suspicious transactions and reflecting various elements of funds and transactions.

Abstract Background Although meningioma is the most common primary brain tumor, treatments rely on surgery and radiotherapy, and recurrent meningiomas have no standard therapeutic options due to a lack of clinically relevant research models. Current meningioma cell lines or organoids cannot reflect biological features of patient tumors since they undergo transformation along culture and consist of only tumor cells without microenvironment. We aim to establish patient-derived meningioma organoids (MNOs) preserving diverse cell types representative of the tumor microenvironment. Methods The biological features of MNOs were evaluated using WST, LDH, and collagen-based 3D invasion assays. Cellular identities in MNOs were confirmed by immunohistochemistry (IHC). Genetic alteration profiles of MNOs and their corresponding parental tumors were obtained by whole-exome sequencing. Results MNOs were established from four patients with meningioma (two grade 1 and two grade 2) at a 100% succession rate. Exclusion of enzymatic dissociation-reaggregation steps endowed MNOs with original histology and tumor microenvironment. In addition, we used a liquid media culture system instead of embedding samples into Matrigel, resulting in an easy-to-handle, cost-efficient, and time-saving system. MNOs maintained their functionality and morphology after long-term culture (> 9 wk) and repeated cryopreserving-recovery cycles. The similarities between MNOs and their corresponding parental tumors were confirmed by both IHC and whole-exome sequencing. As a representative application, we utilized MNOs in drug screening, and mifepristone, an antagonist of progesterone receptor, showed prominent antitumor efficacy with respect to viability, invasiveness, and protein expression. Conclusion Taken together, our MNO model overcame limitations of previous meningioma models and showed superior resemblance to parental tumors. Thus, our model could facilitate translational research identifying and selecting drugs for meningioma in the era of precision medicine.

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to quantify port efficiency assessment indicators to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on Chinese One Belt One Road (OBOR) ports. Design/methodology/approach – This study utilized a grey prediction model GM(1,1) to forecast five relevant indicators for each of the 17 OBOR ports both with and without COVID-19 background conditions. Additionally, the data envelopment analysis (DEA) efficiency assessment approach was used to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on port efficiency. Findings – The results indicate that cargo and container throughput growth rates during the COVID-19 pandemic are reduced by 1.7 and 2.1%, respectively. There was also a noticeable reduction in technological efficiency (TE) as well as pure technological efficiency (PTE), while scale efficiency (SE) remained largely unaffected. Furthermore, the dynamic efficiency MI was mainly negatively impacted by changes in overall efficiency change (EFFCH), where pure efficiency change (PECH) less than one contributed significantly towards overall regression of port efficiencies during this period. Originality/value – This paper is unique in its use of a combination of the grey prediction model and DEA efficiency assessment to quantify changes in important indicators during pandemic periods. This approach not only provides a quantitative understanding of the impact on port-level efficiency through numerical quantification but also offers readers an intuitive understanding.

Abstract Antimicrobial resistant pathogens are a global health threat driven by the indiscriminate use of antimicrobials. Antimicrobial resistance can be acquired by resistance genes encoded by mobile genetic elements. In this study, we identified a strain of Salmonella enterica serovar Gallinarum (SG4021) from an infected chicken in Korea and characterized the presence of resistance genes in its plasmid by whole genome sequencing. The sequence was then compared with that of a plasmid (P2) from strain SG_07Q015, the only other strain of S. Gallinarum isolated in Korea for which a genome sequence is available. The results revealed that both strains harbored nearly identical DNA carrying antibiotic resistance gene cassettes inserted into integron In2 of the transposable element Tn21, namely an aadA1 resistance gene conferring resistance to aminoglycosides and a sul1 resistance gene conferring resistance to sulfonamide. Interestingly, despite the presence of sul1 in SG4021, an antibiotic sensitivity test revealed that it was sensitive to sulfonamides. Further analysis revealed that this disparity was due to the insertion of a ~ 5 kb ISCR16 sequence downstream of the promoter driving sul1 expression in SG4021. Using various mutants, we showed that the insertion of ISCR16 blocked the expression of the sul1 gene from the upstream promoter. Therefore, the functionality of antimicrobial resistance genes determines phenotypic antimicrobial resistance.

The aim of this paper is to shed light on how ordinary language users in a globalized city adapt to and manage their multilingual situations in which diverse communicative problems occur. The subject of this study is a multiethnic bakery shop in Prague. Various languages, such as English, Czech, Korean and Chinese are used as a means of everyday interaction between the owners and customers in the shop. Language Management Theory (Jernudd & Neustupný, 1987; Neustupný & Nekvapil, 2003) will be employed as a theoretical framework in order to understand and analyze the following research questions: 1) how do the owners of a multiethnic bakery shop adapt to their multilingual situation?, 2) how do the owners of a multiethnic bakery shop manage their language use during the work? Simple management (on the micro-level) and organized management (on the macro-level) will be analyzed based on the data gathered from observations, recordings, language biography interviews, and follow-up interviews by the author. This paper will illuminate how socio-economic, communicative and linguistic management are intertwined and what consequences may follow after implementing the adjustment plan.

Although surgery followed by platinum-based therapy is effective as a standard treatment in the early stages of ovarian cancer, the majority of cases are diagnosed at advanced stages, leading to poor prognosis. Thus, the identification of novel therapeutic drugs is needed. In this study, we assessed the effectiveness of bepridil—a calcium channel blocker—in ovarian cancer cells using two cell lines: SKOV-3, and SKOV-3-13 (a highly metastatic clone of SKOV-3). Treatment of these cell lines with bepridil significantly reduced cell viability, migration, and invasion. Notably, SKOV-3-13 was more sensitive to bepridil than SKOV-3. The TGF-β1-induced epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT)-like phenotype was reversed by treatment with bepridil in both cell lines. Consistently, expression levels of EMT-related markers, including vimentin, β-catenin, and Snail, were also substantially decreased by the treatment with bepridil. An in vivo mouse xenograft model was used to confirm these findings. Tumor growth was significantly reduced by bepridil treatment in SKOV-3-13-inoculated mice, and immunohistochemistry showed consistently decreased expression of EMT-related markers. Our findings are the first to report anticancer effects of bepridil in ovarian cancer, and they suggest that bepridil holds significant promise as an effective therapeutic agent for targeting metastatic ovarian cancer.

Deep neural networks (DNNs) have been making progress in many ways. DNNs are typically used to model complex nonlinearity of high-dimensional data in regression or classification problems. As DNNs contain additional hidden layers, they generally improve performance but increase the number of parameters to train, thereby extending the learning time. Many studies, such as those employing Dropout and regularization methods, have undertaken to solve these problems. The method proposed in this paper is an additive ensemble neural networks (AENNs), by which a boosting mechanism of an ensemble methodology is applied to the neural networks instead of regularization techniques. That is, the model by AENNs is obtained by sequentially combining several simple shallow network models. Experiments showed that AENNs yield better results than conventional DNNs and machine learning methods for regression and classification problems, thereby alleviating the troublesome model complexity issue.

In recent times, many studies concerning surgical video analysis are being conducted due to its growing importance in many medical applications. In particular, it is very important to be able to recognize the current surgical phase because the phase information can be utilized in various ways both during and after surgery. This paper proposes an efficient phase recognition network, called MomentNet, for cholecystectomy endoscopic videos. Unlike LSTM-based network, MomentNet is based on a multi-stage temporal convolutional network. Besides, to improve the phase prediction accuracy, the proposed method adopts a new loss function to supplement the general cross entropy loss function. The new loss function significantly improves the performance of the phase recognition network by constraining un-desirable phase transition and preventing over-segmentation. In addition, MomnetNet effectively applies positional encoding techniques, which are commonly applied in transformer architectures, to the multi-stage temporal convolution network. By using the positional encoding techniques, MomentNet can provide important temporal context, resulting in higher phase prediction accuracy. Furthermore, the MomentNet applies label smoothing technique to suppress overfitting and replaces the backbone network for feature extraction to further improve the network performance. As a result, the MomentNet achieves 92.31% accuracy in the phase recognition task with the Cholec80 dataset, which is 4.55% higher than that of the baseline architecture.

An augmented reality (AR) lightfield display can provide three-dimensional (3D) images at the locations of real objects. However, a conventional AR lightfield display has a few disadvantages in that its 3D resolution is poor and it is bulky in form owing to the use of an optical combiner or relay optics. In this paper, we propose a novel method to realize an AR lightfield display using a transparent display and an active pinhole array (APA) to enhance both the 3D resolution and visibility of real objects. An experimental demonstration verifies that the proposed method is appropriate for smart window applications.

An augmented-reality (AR) device which presents virtual volumetric images to switchable integrated spaces is proposed and demonstrated. A bi-focal geometric phase (GP) lens can project the integrated volumetric images to switchable integrated spaces by switching the polarization of them. For that purpose, a combination of GP lens and an active polarization switching device has been adopted. A demonstration of an AR display with switchable integrations is also provided to verify the proposed concept.

The generative adversarial network (GAN) has demonstrated superb performance in generating synthetic images in recent studies. However, in the conventional framework of GAN, the maximum resolution of generated images is limited to the resolution of real images that are used as the training set. In this paper, in order to address this limitation, we propose a novel GAN framework using a pre-trained network called evaluator. The proposed model, higher resolution GAN (HRGAN), employs additional up-sampling convolutional layers to generate higher resolution. Then, using the evaluator, an additional target for the training of the generator is introduced to calibrate the generated images to have realistic features. In experiments with the CIFAR-10 and CIFAR-100 datasets, HRGAN successfully generates images of 64 × 64 and 128 × 128 resolutions, while the training sets consist of images of 32 × 32 resolution. In addition, HRGAN outperforms other existing models in terms of the Inception score, one of the conventional methods to evaluate GANs. For instance, in the experiment with CIFAR-10, a HRGAN generating 128 × 128 resolution demonstrates an Inception score of 12.32, outperforming an existing model by 28.6%. Thus, the proposed HRGAN demonstrates the possibility of generating higher resolution than training images.

Abstract Background Aberrant cell death induced by ischemic stress is implicated in the pathogenesis of ischemic diseases. Fas-associated factor 1 (FAF1) has been identified as a death-promoting protein. This study demonstrates that FAF1 functions in death signaling triggered by ischemic insult. Methods The expression changes of FAF1 and phophorylated JNK1 were detected by Western blotting. Immunoprecipitation was employed to investigate protein-protein interaction. We determined the cell death using flow cytometry and lactate dehydrogenase release measurement. To validate the death-promoting role of FAF1 in the retina, we generated conditional retinal FAF1 knockout mice. We used hematoxylin and eosin staining to detect retinal cell death in retinal ganglion cell layer. Results FAF1 was found to function upstream of c-Jun N-terminal kinase 1 (JNK1), followed by mitochondrial dysregulation and necrotic cell death processes upon ischemic insult. We investigated whether FAF1 is involved in the pathogenesis of ischemic diseases using a retinal ischemia model. Indeed, FAF1 potentiated necrosis through JNK1 activation upon ischemic stress in retinal cells demonstrating retinal ganglion–like character. Conditional FAF1 depletion attenuated JNK1 activation in the retinas of Dkk3-Cre;Faf1 flox/flox mice and ameliorated death of retinal cells due to elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). Conclusions Our results show that FAF1 plays a key role in ischemic retinal damage and may be implicated in the pathogenesis of retinal ischemic disease.

This paper presents a case study examining delivery service preference of electronic commerce products. With the increasing of electronic commerce and home shopping market, parcel delivery service market has been growing annually by more than 10% in Korea. However, the quality of delivery service and profitability are gradually decreased due to the price competition. A survey conducted by Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry revealed that nearly half of the respondents selected delivery accuracy and time as major factors in delivery service, implying that online consumers consider service factors such as delivery time more important rather than delivery cost. In this research, a stated preference survey with 16 scenarios was conducted for online consumers to examine delivery preference depending on the type and value of products that they purchased online. The analysis results show that online consumers have a willingness to pay extra cost for rapid delivery or want lower price although it is much slow. It implies that current uniformed delivery cost of online products can be differentiated with different prices for different consumers and products. In addition, the study shows that different online products have different value of time, 27 won per hour on average.

Sustainable transport has become a new paradigm offering efficient, equitable, and pro-environment transport services. Many intermodal freight systems, especially those for port-to-rail networks, consist of multiple routes starting from and ending at the same port in order to exploit economies of scale. It is of interest to railway operators, therefore, to improve the efficiency of the system by finding the optimal fleet size (the number of cars assigned to a route) and frequency for each route. This paper proposes a model which determines the optimal frequency of each route under the total fleet size constraint for the one-to-many distribution. Trains carry items from one port to their destinations on their predetermined routes. This paper focuses on situations in which items from one port are transported to many destinations via railroads. The tradeoffs between transportation and inventory costs determine optimal frequency under the total fleet size and capacity constraints. The optimal frequency and fleet size of each route are calculated and then updated at the end of each step of the model. The model that we have developed in this paper is validated by port-to-rail freight data from actual shipments in Korea. The results of the analysis show that the proposed model can provide a more reliable and realistic representation of the real one-to-many distribution than the other alternatives which are commonly used. This study not only forms the theoretical basis of an effective and rational freight operation, but it also contributes to the assessment of the existing and planned logistics systems.

This paper presents a case study on the problem of loading air containers in air express carriers motivated from DHL and Air Hong Kong. The problem is to determine the containers to be loaded and the locations of the loaded containers in an aircraft while maintaining stability of the aircraft. The objective of the problem is to maximize the revenue obtained from delivering containers. We present an integer programming model to represent and optimally solve the problem. Computational experiments done on a number of randomly generated test instances show that the integer program can be a viable tool for generating loading plans in the companies since optimal or near-optimal solutions for the test instances are obtained within a reasonable amount of computation time.

This paper presents a case study of Renault Samsung Motors (RSM) that recently encounters dynamic changes unveiling various opportunities and challenges due to increasing complexity of the supply network with growing sales volume, diversifying models, and intensifying global competition. Such competitive environment puts constant pressure on the logistics operations to reduce supply costs and lead time, but the RSM has not been paying much attention to aligning interests of supply chain partners. In 2007, RSM’s effort to build partnership with new 3PLs turned abortive due to their unexpected default on the contract throwing RSM into confusion and disruptions. In this study, the problem was investigated by examining route planning process and incentive scheme of 3PL, and an optimization model was constructed to evaluate the performance of existing 3PL operation. The results indicate that transportation cost can be reduced by relocating consolidation centers, utilizing regional terminal and redesigning routing sequence. However, the research found that the key to successful implementation of the optimized solutions is in designing effective incentive system that induces partners to participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

This paper presents a case study examining the emissions impacts of a modal shift from on-road trucks to rail for goods movement through the Southern California ports region, one of the severest non-attainment areas in terms of national air quality standards. Recent completion of the Alameda Corridor, a 20-mile rail expressway that connects the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles with rail mainlines near downtown Los Angeles, provides substantial reserve capacity for port traffic to be diverted from the severely congested road network to the rail line. On-road vehicles emissions were estimated using California mobile-source emissions model, ‘EMFAC’ that incorporates a set of emissions factors for each vehicle type and an estimate of vehicle activity. These emissions were then compared with the emissions generated from trains increased to carry freight volume diverted from truck traffic. On the basis of year 2000 traffic level, it was estimated that for a 20 percent modal shift of port traffic, mobile-source emissions can be reduced up to 0.86 tons for nitrogen oxides and 16 kg for particulate matter per day. The analysis results indicate that encouraging the modal shift for port-related freight traffic should be an integral part of overall air quality improvement initiatives for the study area.

Recently, the United Statesgovernment plans to introduce electronic container seals on all imported containers as a mandatory requirement. Further, containers without electronic seals may be prohibited or restricted for import based on this planned regulation. An electronic seal is a tamper-free seal with radio frequency identification (RFID) chips embedded in it. It could provide additional security information such as the tamper evidence and the history of tampering status. In this paper, a brief review of the types of container seals, the characteristics of electronic seals, and their system components are presented. International efforts for securing cargo security are also reviewed including Container Security Initiative (CSI), Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), and International Standards Organization (ISO) requirements. Finally, the current issues and the status of technology development are discussed with future directions as a final word

Recent advancements in information and communication technologies have led to the rapid growth of electronic commerce market. In the United States, e-commerce retail sales for 2002 reached $45.6 billion, indicating an increase of 26.9% from 2001 while total retail sales increased 3.1% during the same period. Although e-commerce sales account for only 1.4% of total sales in this country, forecasts show that the magnitude of digital economy will continue to expand. The logistical requirements of e-commerce goods that extend to each customer's address stimulate greater complexity in traditional supply chain management, potentially causing higher costs for freight supply chain participants. To harness the economic potential of e-commerce, it is important to encourage the development of a freight transportation system that will support its steady growth, while avoiding the possible negative effects from the changes in freight transportation. Due to the intrinsic nature of e-commerce goods, advances in home delivery have the potential to promote the growth of e-commerce as well as to create sustainable urban freight transportation systems. Based on the case study of the United States, this paper presents an in-depth discussion of the key challenges arising in home delivery operations, and proposes potential solution strategies that will lead to more efficient and reliable home delivery systems.

Incorporation of unnatural amino acids and peptidomimetic residues into therapeutic peptides is highly efficacious and commonly employed, but generally requires laborious trial-and-error approaches. Previously, we demonstrated that C20 peptide has the potential to be a potential antiviral agent. Herein we report our attempt to improve the biological properties of this peptide by introducing peptidomimetics. Through combined alanine, proline, and sarcosine scans coupled with a competitive fluorescence polarization assay developed for identifying antiviral peptides, we enabled to pinpoint peptoid-tolerant peptide residues within C20 peptide. The synergistic benefits of combining these (and other) commonly employed methods could lead to a easily applicable strategy for designing and refining therapeutically-attractive peptidomimetics.

Alcoholic and nonalcoholic liver steatosis have an indistinguishable spectrum of histological features and liver enzyme elevations. In this study, we investigated the potential of the ethanolic extract of Acanthopanax koreanum Nakai (AK) to protect against experimental alcoholic liver disease in a mouse model that couples diet and daily ethanol bolus gavage. Fifty-six C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into seven groups: normal control (NC), alcohol control (AC), alcohol/HFD control (AH), low-dose (1%) AK in alcohol group (ACL), high-dose (3%) AK in alcohol group (ACH), low-dose AK in alcohol/HFD group (AHL), and high-dose AK in alcohol/HFD group (AHH). The AH group showed more severe damage than the AC group in terms of biochemical and molecular data that were observed in this study. The administration of AK exerted remarkable effects in: plasma ALT (p < 0.0001), total lipid (p = 0.014), TG (p = 0.0037) levels; CPT-1α (p = 0.0197), TLR4 (p < 0.0001), CD14 (p = 0.0002), IL-6 (p = 0.0264) and MCP-1 (p = 0.0045) gene expressions; and ALDH (p < 0.0001) and CAT (p = 0.0076) activities. The data suggested that at least the high dose AK might confer protection against alcoholic liver damage combined with an HFD by accelerating lipid oxidation and alcohol metabolism and by suppressing the inflammatory response, including the TLR pathway.

Despite nearly four decades of effort, broad inhibition of oncogenic RAS using small-molecule approaches has proven to be a major challenge. Here we describe the development of a pan- RAS biologic inhibitor composed of the RAS-RAP1-specific endopeptidase fused to the protein delivery machinery of diphtheria toxin. We show that this engineered chimeric toxin irreversibly cleaves and inactivates intracellular RAS at low picomolar concentrations terminating downstream signaling in receptor-bearing cells. Furthermore, we demonstrate in vivo target engagement and reduction of tumor burden in three mouse xenograft models driven by either wild-type or mutant RAS. Intracellular delivery of a potent anti-RAS biologic through a receptor-mediated mechanism represents a promising approach to developing RAS therapeutics against a broad array of cancers. In higher eukaryotes, one of the two arginyl-tRNA synthetases (ArgRSs) has evolved to have an extended N-terminal domain that plays a crucial role in protein synthesis and cell growth and in integration into the multisynthetase complex (MSC). Here, we report a crystal structure of the MSC subcomplex comprising ArgRS, glutaminyl-tRNA synthetase (GlnRS), and the auxiliary factor aminoacyl tRNA synthetase complex-interacting multifunctional protein 1 (AIMP1)/p43. In this complex, the N-terminal domain of ArgRS forms a long coiled-coil structure with the N-terminal helix of AIMP1 and anchors the C-terminal core of GlnRS, thereby playing a central role in assembly of the three components. Mutation of AIMP1 destabilized the N-terminal helix of ArgRS and abrogated its catalytic activity. Mutation of the N-terminal helix of ArgRS liberated GlnRS, which is known to control cell death. This ternary complex was further anchored to AIMP2/p38 through interaction with AIMP1. These findings demonstrate the importance of interactions between the N-terminal domains of ArgRS and AIMP1 for the catalytic and noncatalytic activities of ArgRS and for the assembly of the higher-order MSC protein complex. Substance P (SP) is a neuropeptide that mediates numerous physiological responses, including transmission of pain and inflammation through the neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). Previous mutagenesis studies and photoaffinity labeling using ligand analogues suggested that the binding site for SP includes multiple domains in the N-terminal (Nt) segment and the second extracellular loop (ECLII) of NK1. To map precisely the NK1 residues that interact with SP, we applied a novel receptor-based targeted photo-crosslinking approach. We used amber codon suppression to introduce the photoreactive unnatural amino acid p-benzoyl-L-phenylalanine (BzF) at eleven selected individual positions in the Nt tail (residues 11-21) and 23 positions in the ECLII (residues 170(C-10)-193(C+13)) of NK1. The 34 NK1 variants were expressed in mammalian HEK-293 cells and retained the ability to interact with a fluorescently labeled SP analogue. Notably, ten of the receptor variants with BzF in the Nt tail and four of those with BzF in ECLII crosslinked efficiently to SP, indicating that these 14 sites are juxtaposed to SP in the ligand-bound receptor. These results show that two distinct regions of the NK1 receptor possess multiple determinants for SP binding and demonstrate the utility of genetically-encoded photo-crosslinking to map complex multitopic binding sites on GPCRs in a cell-based assay format. Disease associated with Clostridium difficile infection is caused by the actions of the homologous toxins TcdA and TcdB on colonic epithelial cells. Binding to target cells triggers toxin internalization into acidified vesicles, whereupon cryptic segments from within the 1,050-aa translocation domain unfurl and insert into the bounding membrane, creating a transmembrane passageway to the cytosol. Our current understanding of the mechanisms underlying pore formation and the subsequent translocation of the upstream cytotoxic domain to the cytosol is limited by the lack of information available regarding the identity and architecture of the transmembrane pore. Here, through systematic perturbation of conserved sites within predicted membrane-insertion elements of the translocation domain, we uncovered highly sensitive residues-clustered between amino acids 1,035 and 1,107-that when individually mutated, reduced cellular toxicity by as much as >1,000-fold. We demonstrate that defective variants are defined by impaired pore formation in planar lipid bilayers and biological membranes, resulting in an inability to intoxicate cells through either apoptotic or necrotic pathways. These findings along with the unexpected similarities uncovered between the pore-forming "hotspots" of TcdB and the well-characterized α-helical diphtheria toxin translocation domain provide insights into the structure and mechanism of formation of the translocation pore for this important class of pathogenic toxins. This paper evaluates the potential for spatial reuse and the degree of interference in a dense 60 GHz wireless networking environment. A 60 GHz simulation model is developed to evaluate the performance and extensive simulations are conducted by varying a number of parameters that affects the spatial reuse gain and interference. The results show that there is abundant spatial reuse to exploit in a dense 60 GHz wireless network. However, the results also indicate that there are considerable scenarios where interference is present, for which interference mitigation mechanisms are needed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
