Purpose: To report two cases of ibrutinib-related uveitis and review the literature to date. Methods: We report two cases of ibrutinib-related uveitis using CARE guidelines and review the cases reported in the literature. Results: Case 1) A 55-year-old female with recurrent primary central nervous system lymphoma presented with bilateral decreased visual acuity, photophobia, and floaters that started one month after initiating oral treatment with ibrutinib. Chronic non-granulomatous bilateral anterior-intermediate uveitis with macular edema was identified. Secondary causes were ruled out, and a presumptive diagnosis of ibrutinib-related uveitis was made. Case 2) A 57-year-old female with Waldenström macroglobulinemia who was treated with ibrutinib for two years presented with bilateral blurred vision, photophobia, red eyes, and floaters. A diagnosis of non-granulomatous, noninfectious panuveitis with bilateral cystoid macular edema was made. Secondary causes were ruled out, and ibrutinib toxicity was the most likely cause. Conclusion: Ibrutinib-related uveitis is a novel and under-diagnosed clinical entity. The most frequent clinical presentation in the literature is bilateral, non-granulomatous, anterior, and intermediate uveitis. Macular edema is a frequent complication. Uveitis usually requires topical treatment and the suspension of ibrutinib. Switching to second-generation Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitors is proposed as a potential therapeutic alternative. Laboratory work assignments are very important for computer science learning. Over the last 12 years many students have been involved in solving such assignments in the authors' department, having reached a figure of more than 400 students doing the same assignment in the same year. This number of students has required teachers to pay special attention to conceivable plagiarism cases. A plagiarism detection tool has been developed as part of a full toolset for helping in the management of the laboratory work assignments. This tool defines and uses four similarity criteria to measure how similar two assignment implementations are. The paper describes the plagiarism detection tool and the experience of using it over the last 12 years in four different programming assignments, from microprogramming a CPU to system programming in C. BACKGROUND: Conventional crossing of soft wheat cultivars resistant to imazamox and glufosinate resulted in two (Rados and Helter) lines resistant to both herbicides. Stacked traits conferring this dual herbicide resistance in these lines, compared with a susceptible (S) cultivar, were characterized. RESULTS: Rados and Helter lines were ∼ 18‐fold more resistant (R) to glufosinate, and between 15.1 and 19.8‐fold more resistant to imazamox than the S cultivar. Resistance to glufosinate and imazamox decreased up to 12% and 50%, respectively, when the herbicides were applied sequentially. The basal activities of the acetolactate and glutamine synthases were similar between R and S plants. Rados and Helter lines were 11.7‐ and 17.7‐fold more resistant to imazamox than the S cultivar, due to the Ser653–Asn mutation in their imi‐ALS genes. R lines, susceptible to glufosinate at the target site level, showed lower ammonia accumulation evidencing the activity of the phosphinothricin acetyl transferase. Absorption and translocation patterns for 14C‐imazamox and 14C‐glufosinate were similar between R and S cultivars and so do not contribute to resistance. CONCLUSION: Stacked traits conferring dual herbicide resistance to the lines Rados and Helter come from the resistant parents. The effect of feed frames, a device used in rotary tablet presses to drive the powders into compression dies, on the properties of the powders entering the dies is systematically described in this article. The work focuses on the effect of blend composition, feed frame parameters (blade speed and residence time), and rotary die disc parameters (die disc speed and die diameter) on powder overlubrication, the flow properties of the blends, and the resulting tablet properties (tablet hardness and dissolution). For lubricated blends, the feed frame had a large impact on powder hydrophobicity and powder flow properties. Hydrophobicity results demonstrated that the shear applied by the feed frame caused overlubrication of the powders, which improved the powder flow properties but affected adversely the tablet hardness and dissolution. © 2011 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 2012 [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of mechanical shear on hydrophobicity of pharmaceutical powder blends as a function of composition and particle size, and to determine the impact on drug release from tablets. Methods: Four powder formulations were subjected to three different shear strain conditions (40 rev, 160 rev, and 640 rev) in a controlled shear environment operating at a shear rate of 80 rpm. A total of 12 blends were tested for hydrophobicity. Subsequently, sheared blends were compressed into tablets at 8 kN and 12 kN in a rotary tablet press. During tablet compression, powder samples were collected after the feed frame and their hydrophobicity was again measured. Results: Results indicated that increase in shear strain could significantly increase hydrophobicity, predominantly as an interacting function of blend composition. Blends with both colloidal silica and magnesium stearate (MgSt) were found to show higher hydrophobicity with shear than other blends. Additional shear applied by the tablet press feed frame was found to change the powder hydrophobicity only in the absence of MgSt. Conclusions: Studies showed that the drug release rates dropped with shear more for the blends with both colloidal silica and MgSt than the other blends. Furthermore, the rate of drug release dropped with a decrease in particle size of the main excipient. Surprisingly, the relationship between the relative increase in hydrophobicity and a corresponding drop in the drug release rate was not found when either MgSt or colloidal silica was mixed alone in the blends.
