The concentration of main organic and inorganic pollutants (heavy metals, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, radionuclides) in surface waters and in water-soil solutions was analysed on three keysites within the permafrost zone: Tazovsky Peninsula (North-West Siberia), Kolyma Lowland (North Yakutia) and adjacent to Yakutsk (Central Yakutia). In the majority of sampling points that are not directly impacted by human activity, the pollutants accumulate in the uppermost organogenic and organo-mineral horizons of natural soils. At the human-affected keysites the major pollutants may accumulate not only in the superficial horizons of the disturbed soils due to the surface runoff but also in the central parts of the profile, in the material buried by cryogenic, solifluction or fluvial processes and in some cases – in the suprapermafrost horizons and in the upper layer of permafrost transported via suprapermafrost water runoff.

The new method for combining semisoft thresholding rules during wavelet-based data compression of images with multiplicative noise is suggested. The method chooses the best thresholding rule and the threshold value using the proposed criteria which provide the best nonlinear approximations and take into consideration errors of quantization. The results of computer modeling have shown that the suggested method provides relatively good image quality after restoration in the sense of some criteria such as PSNR, SSIM, etc.

The purification of perfluoro(7-methylbicyclo[4.3.0]nonane) industrial fractions with a component content above 0.950 in mass fraction is not effective and requires the use of special separation methods. According to experimental data, the separation factor of the initial mixture during distillation with no additional substances is close to 1. At the same time, the addition of acetone (Ac) makes it possible to significantly intensify the process. Ac allowed for obtaining MBCN with a purity higher than 0.998 in mass fraction in one separation cycle, and the degree of recovery was more than 0.85 by weight. The paper presents data on the distribution of components (target product, identified and unidentified impurities of electrochemical fluorination of decalin) between the distillate and bottom product fractions, separation factor, liquid–liquid phase equilibrium in the MBCN-Ac system, and characteristics of the MBCN-Ac heteroazeotrope.

The process of crystallization separation of an industrial mixture of perfluorinated cycloalkanes was considered. The content of target products, cis- and trans-isomers of perfluorodecalin (PFD), in all initial fractions of the investigated samples of the reaction mixture was at least 70 wt.%. Based on the experimental data, the dependences of the crystallization (partition) coefficients between the solid and mother liquor (Ds/l), the enrichment factor (ηs), and the separation factor (Fs) on the ratio of trans-PFD to cis-PFD, the ratio of mother liquor to solid, and crystallization temperature in the range −50–15 °C were obtained. It was shown that the values Ds/l and ηs depended significantly on the concentration of trans-PFD in the initial solution, and that the value of Fs decreased as the process temperature rose.

Soils of the Arctic sea coasts are one of the least studied due to the complex logistical accessibility of the region, as well as the severe climatic conditions. The genesis of these soils is determined by several factors of soil formation simultaneously—cryogenesis, the influence of river alluvial processes, as well as the tidal influence of the sea. The paper presents data on the morphological structure of soils formed on the seacoast of the East-Siberian Sea (Kolyma Lowland, North Yakutia). Under the influence of cryogenesis and sea water tidal input, marsh soils are formed, with a relatively high level of salinity and the development of gleyization. Autochthonous and allochthonous soil organic matter play a leading role in marsh soil formation here, including the possible accumulation and biochemical transformation of incoming pollutants (e.g., hydrocarbons). The main objective of the study was to evaluate the soil organic matter genesis and alteration under the influence of tidal processes in coastal permafrost-affected soils as well as to obtain the previously unknown characteristics of the structural and elemental composition of different fractions of organic matter. The elemental composition and 13C NMR spectroscopy of humic acids were analyzed. It was revealed that humic acids extracted from the studied marsh soils accumulate up to 50% C and 4% N. Active processes of dehydrogenation are noted in HAs molecules, which indicates a relatively low degree of aliphatic structure development. According to 13C NMR spectroscopy, it was revealed that up to 45% of aromatic structural fragments accumulate in marsh soils, indicating a relatively high degree of organic matter stabilization and resistance to biodegradation.

New physicochemical data for trans-perfluorodecalin (trans-PDF) and cis-perfluorodecalin (cis-PFD) are presented. Based on the differential scanning calorimetry, the temperature and heat of the solid−liquid phase transition are determined. The coefficients of Antoine's equation are calculated based on the experimental temperature–pressure dependence data. This article also presents data on the rheological properties («zero» shear viscosity and apparent activation energy for the viscous flow) of the studied compounds. The dependencies of refractive index and excess volume (density) on temperature are studied. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry data and FTIR, 13C NMR, and 19F NMR spectra are provided. The dependencies are given for the perfluoro(butylcyclohexane) (BCH)–trans-PFD, BCH–cis-PFD, and trans-PFD–cis-PFD binary systems and BCH–trans-PFD–cis-PFD ternary system: refractive index and density (liquid molar volume and excess molar volume) of composition and temperature. One of the most important problems of cryopedology is the interaction of pedogenic processes with the processes that form the structure of the uppermost layers of the near‐surface permafrost. The thickness, structure, spatial variability, and other features are responsible for the reaction of the soil‐permafrost system to the bioclimatic fluctuations as well as the contemporary anthropogenic pressure. Together the soil profile and the upper layers of permafrost form the natural body of the "soil–cryogenic complex," which is the result of simultaneous late Pleistocene–Holocene soil and permafrost coevolution. Pedogenic and cryogenic processes together form organic‐accumulative horizons above the permafrost table that have often been described in the profiles of Cryosols in different regions of Arctic. The multiannual dynamics of summer thawing depth determine the involvement of the material of these shielding horizons into the zone of active modern pedogenesis or its exclusion from it in case of their frozen state. Soil surface microrelief, complexity of the vegetation, and spatial differences of thermal properties of the suprapermafrost soil horizons and the transient layer of permafrost are responsible for the complicated pattern of permafrost table microrelief. Thus, the long‐term study of cryogenic soils that are developed on the close underlying permafrost provides improved understanding of the natural‐historical body—soil‐cryogenic complex. The work provides experimental data of the methyl trifluoroacetate (MeTFA)—2,2,2‐trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) mixture distillation process in the presence of N‐Methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP) at atmospheric pressure (99.2 kPa) and within a temperature range of T ≤ 230°C. Forming PIL between TFA and NMP (methylpyrrolidonium trifluoroacetate [HNMP]+[CF3COO]−) leads to a significant volatility increase of the MeTFA relative to TFA. The pure MeTFA was recovered from the MeTFA‐TFA‐[HNMP]+[CF3COO]− mixture in the quantity of 70% from the MeTFA initial mole charge; the total mole recovery was 100%. A significant result of the above experiment is that TFA mole recovery from the MeTFA‐TFA‐[HNMP]+[CF3COO]− mixture within a temperature range of T < 187°C exceeds 96%. The distillation of TFA and NMP mixture at T ≤ 230°C demonstrates strong binding of TFA anion that can be seen from the final liquid phase composition TFA/NMP ≈ 0.53/0.47.
