The Selva Zoque region is characterized by a great variety of ecosystems for which there is little information about reptile species diversity and their conservation status. This study is the first assessment of the species richness, composition, and conservation status of reptiles of this region. Additionally, this information is compared with that of seven other tropical regions in northern Mesoamerica. In total, 141 native reptile species belonging to 81 genera and 29 families are recorded for the Selva Zoque region. Sixty species (42% of the total) recorded in Selva Zoque are in high-risk categories according to the Mexican Ministry of the Environment, the highest number for the Mexican regions of Mesoamerica. According to the IUCN, six species are in high-risk categories, seven species are in Data Deficient, and 23 (16%) have not been evaluated yet. According to the Environmental Vulnerability Scores approach, 28 species (20%) are in the high vulnerability category. The Selva Zoque species composition is most similar to Los Tuxtlas and Lacandona regions, and most dissimilar to Sian Ka´an Biosphere Reserve. The reptilian fauna of Selva Zoque has a distinctive composition, with the highest number (11 species) of endemic reptiles in the northern Mesoamerican, and species from two biogeographic provinces: the Gulf of Mexico and the Mexican Pacific Coast. These results indicate that the Selva Zoque is the most diverse region in native reptile species in northern Mesoamerica, highlighting it as extremely important for the conservation of the reptile fauna at local (southern Mexico) and regional levels (northern Mesoamerica).

Mali is one of the poorest countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Limited infrastructure renders access to health care difficult. There is a need to establish functional ways to improve Malian people’s health and treat disability. From this point of view, our project aims to implement a remote occupational therapy service for the beneficiaries of the Kalana clinic in Mali through international cooperation. Using a spiral iterative model, a proposal for a remote occupational therapy service was developed and refined for a multidisciplinary context. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) was used as a means to work from a multidisciplinary approach to treat all needs. The results are exemplified with a case report and qualitative impressions of the services.

This paper used different risk management indicators applied to the investment optimization performed by consumers in Distributed Generation (DG). The objective function is the total cost incurred by the consumer including the energy and capacity payments, the savings, and the revenues from the installation of DG, alongside the operation and maintenance (O&M) and investment costs. Probability density function (PDF) was used to model the price volatility in the long-term. The mathematical model uses a two-stage stochastic approach: investment and operational stages. The investment decisions are included in the first stage and which do not change with the scenarios of the uncertainty. The operation variables are in the second stage and, therefore, take different values with every realization. Three risk indicators were used to assess the uncertainty risk: Value-at-Risk (VaR), Conditional Value-at-Risk (CVaR), and Expected Value (EV). The results showed the importance of migration from deterministic models to stochastic ones and, most importantly, the understanding of the ramifications of every risk indicator. Rhadinaea marcellae Taylor, 1949 is known from only 12 specimens. Based on recent fieldwork and research in scientific collections and databases, we report 14 new records of R. marcellae, bringing the total number of verified occurrences up to 26, updating our understanding of this secretive species’ distribution in the tropical and cloud forests of the Sierra Madre Oriental in Mexico. The new records come from the Mexican states of Hidalgo, Puebla, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz. All the newly reported specimens are morphologically concordant with R. marcellae, but exhibit noteworthy variation.

Background Large mortality rates have been reported in the Mexican public health system, however in the experiences of private hospitals that have resources and infrastructure this is lower compared to the national average. Methods Descriptive and retrospective study. Adult patients treated for pneumonia due COVID-19 from April to December 2020 are entered into the study. Its general characteristics such as gender and age, comorbidities, influenza vaccination history, clinical characterization, laboratory and tomographic diagnosis of sars cov2 pneumonia are studied, as well as the drug and oxygen therapy treatments received and finally, its evolution and clinical outcome. Results 132 patients were studied, of which 51% were female. The main age groups affected were 65 and over (43.9%), 50-59 years (20.4%) and 25-44 years (16.6%). The main comorbidities found were: arterial hypertension (43.9%), Diabetes mellitus 2 (33.3%), heart disease (11.3%) and obesity (10.6%). 95.4% of the patients were not vaccinated against influenza. The main symptoms reported were: fever (92%), cough (87%), dyspnea (76%) and headache (52%). The diagnosis was confirmed with RT-PCR in 63%, reporting negative RT-PCR in 36%; the antigen test was positive in 1%. Regarding the findings of the chest computed tomography, CORADS 5 was reported in 30%, CORADS 6 in 3% and CORADS 4 in 20%. The main treatments used in patients with severe inflammatory pneumonia were: steroids (98%), enoxaparin (100%), tocilizumab (20%), baricitinib (60%), direct oral anticoagulants (10%), fibroquel (5%). 60% were treated with a combination of two or more drugs. The main oxygenation contributions were: 20% nasal tips - mask/reservoir, 60% high flow nasal cannula, 20% mechanical ventilation. In 95% the prone position was indicated. Regarding the clinical evolution, 65.1% were towards improvement, 17.4% died, 12.1% requested transfer to another unit and 5.3% requested voluntary discharge. Overall mortality was 17%. Today we are immersed in technology and the way in which we communicate with this is the user interface, to enable the interaction between the user and an artifact, system or machine, so large companies use Design Thinking techniques and Design of user interfaces, to get closer to customers empathically, so that they can know their real needs and be really interested in the details of their lives. Generating empathy with our customers means putting their problems, more than our solutions, first. The problem that is sought to be solved in the user experience design part, is that the designer does not know if the user will find the proposed interface friendly, that is why Design Thinking is one of the most used methods in order to put yourself in the position of the end user. In this article we intend to show how Design Thinking can be applied to the generation of UX user experiences. Each of the phases involved in the generation of the user experience is also explained: Research, Organization, Prototyping, Testing and Design., Hoy en día estamos inmersos en la tecnología y la manera en la que nos comunicamos con esta es la interfaz de usuario, para viabilizar la interacción entre el usuario y un artefacto, sistema o máquina, por tanto, las grandes empresas utilizan técnicas de Design Thinking y Diseño de interfaces de usuario, para acercarse más a los clientes de manera empática, así poder conocer sus necesidades reales y estar realmente interesados en los detalles de sus vidas. Generar empatía con nuestros clientes implica poner sus problemas, más que nuestras soluciones, en primer lugar. El problema que se busca resolver en la parte de diseño de experiencia de usuario, es que el diseñador no sabe si el usuario encontrará amigable la interfaz propuesta para este, es por eso que Design Thinking es una de los métodos más usados con el fin de ponerse en la posición del usuario final.En este artículo pretendemos mostrar como Design Thinking se puede aplicar al diseño de UX experiencias de usuario. También se explica cada una de las fases que conlleva al diseño de experiencia de usuario: Investigación, Organización, Prototipado, Pruebas y Diseño.

Distributional and natural history notes for Bromeliohyla dendroscarta (Anura: Hylidae) in Veracruz, Mexico. Two new locality records are reported for the critically endangered hylid frog, Bromeliohyla dendroscarta, in Veracruz, Mexico. The frogs were found in semideciduous tropical forest, an ecotone of semideciduous tropical forest and mountain cloud forest, and an agricultural mosaic; none of these habitats has been documented previously for this species. Information is provided on larval feeding habits, duration of larval development under natural conditions and external morphology of tadpoles.

Background/Aim. Professional reasoning in occupational therapy is the process used by practitioners to plan, direct, perform, and reflect on client care. The professional’s ability to manage the process of the intervention is structured around it, thereby influencing the effectiveness of the work carried out. The objectives of this research were to identify and describe (a) the historical development of this area of research from 1982 to 2017 and (b) the nature and volume of the scientific literature on professional reasoning in occupational therapy and the evidence that exists today. Methods. A scoping review method was used to carry out an historical mapping of research on professional reasoning and to summarise the lines of research explored to date. The review was conducted in five stages following the PRISMA guidelines. After applying the selection criteria, the search identified 303 references. Results. The results are presented under three headings: (a) nature and volume of publications on professional reasoning in occupational therapy according to number and year of publications, journal, country, author, and line of research; (b) historical trends in the scientific literature on professional reasoning in occupational therapy since 1982; and (c) methodological aspects of the research. Each of them is discussed through statistical analysis. Conclusions. The research about professional reasoning in occupational therapy is a field of empirical nature, in which qualitative studies predominate. Principal lines of research are focused on specific fields of practice, undergraduates, and theoretical aspects of professional reasoning. There were identified three historical phases with common features in terms of objectives and research methods.

Medical gases are known to show a great environmental impact and also to consume relevant resources in terms of hospital management. The present work reports on a study performed between 2008 and 2016 in a target set of 12 Spanish hospitals with floor area and number of beds ranging 2314–23,300 m2 and 20–194, respectively, for which the average annual consumption rates of oxygen, nitrogen, medicinal air, carbon dioxide and nitrogen protoxide were analysed. The annual consumption of medical gases in a hospital was proved to be correlated with the number of hospital discharges, the number of surgeries, the number of emergency interventions, the number of hospitalisations, the number of hospital beds, the useful floor area of the building and the number of workers. In particular, the annual consumption per hospital bed was computed as 350 m3 for oxygen, 325 m3 for medicinal air, 9 m3 for nitrogen protoxide and 3 m3 for carbon dioxide. It is shown that healthcare activity appears as an adequate variable to quantify and to monitor medical gases consumption in hospitals, to assess the size of their facilities as well as to optimise maintenance management.

The reproductive cycle of the gastropod Hexaplex princeps (Broderip, 1833) from Puerto Angel was studied through gonadal histology during two annual periods. The sex proportion for the total collected individuals was not statistically different from parity although most of the time the number of males was slightly larger than that of females, which only outnumbered males during the spawning season. The histological analysis of gonad sections permitted to establish six maturity stages for females: 1 Initial oogenesis, 2 Previtellogenic maturity, 3 Vitellogenic maturity, 4 Maturity, 5 Spawning, 6 Resting, and five for males: 1 Initial spermatogenesis, 2 Maturity, 3 Spawning, 4 Onset of the rest, 5 Resting). Monthly variations in the gonad maturation stages showed that H. princeps has an annual reproductive cycle with a long period of gonadal activity. The spawning season comprised from November to March (females) and from December to March (males) with peaks of activity for both sexes in January. Resting periods of females comprised from March to October and for males May and June. Thus the reproductive events were related to high Chlorophyll concentrations which in turn are due to the upwelling processes resulting from the winds during winter months (November to March). This study provides baseline information that may serve to establish measures for adequate exploitation and for aquaculture implementation of this species in the future. Se plantea como hipótesis que la percepción de seguridad tiene un efecto significativo en la predicción de la demanda por la integración bicicleta-metro. Para demostrar dicha hipótesis, se calibraron dos modelos: un modelo logit mixto y un modelo integrado de elección y variable latente, cuya estimación se hizo en forma simultánea por máxima verosimilitud simulada. La estimación empleó datos de una muestra tomada en la localidad de Kennedy, que no solo es la más poblada de Bogotá sino que será el punto de partida de la primera línea del metro. La evidencia empírica respaldó la hipótesis planteada, encontrándose que el modelo mixto sobreestima la demanda, especialmente en los escenarios que no consideraron la provisión de carriles exclusivos para bicicleta. Se encontraron, además, diferencias significativas en la percepción de seguridad de la bicicleta para usuarios de motocicletas, taxis y servicio público, y en general para los individuos según el nivel de ingreso.

El diseño adecuado de las estructuras de pavimento requiere de la estimación de los efectos producidos por las cargas de tráfi co. Por esta razón, es necesario predecir el número de vehículos que se desplazaran sobre superfi cies de carretera e identifi car las confi guraciones de ejes y la magnitud de la carga. Treinta y ocho (38) operativos de pesaje móviles fueron colocados en diferentes puntos estratégicos de la red vial nacional colombiana con el objetivo de caracterizar la condición de tráfi co del país; en estos operativos se evaluaron 59.622 camiones. Este artículo presenta espectros de carga por eje que podrían ser utilizados para caracterizar el estado del tráfi co de la red de carreteras de Colombia con el fi n de dimensionar las estructuras de pavimentos. Los datos mostraron que las diferentes confi guraciones de ejes (simple, doble y Tridem) muestran dos picos, asociados a las condiciones de camiones cargados y descargados. Se observó que un número signifi cativo de ejes excede el límite de carga permitido, lo que podría explicar el estado crítico de la red de carreteras en Colombia. Por último, una mezcla de tres (3) distribuciones teóricas se utilizó para caracterizar las distribuciones generales de carga por eje. Se observó que los modelos propuestos presentan capacidades de predicción aceptables, por lo tanto, tienen potencial para ser utilizados como una herramienta confi able en el proceso de diseño de pavimentos.

The production of phosphate fertilizers usually uses as raw material sedimentary phosphate rock, which contains enhanced concentrations from U‐series radionuclides about 10–100 times higher than unperturbed soils. This fact implies the need for evaluating the radiological implications of this activity. In our case, the study has been performed in a large fertilizer industrial complex located at Huelva town (SW of Spain), where sedimentary phosphate rock has been processed since 1965 to 2010, generating annually an average of about 2.5 million tons of a by‐product called phosphogypsum (PG), which has been stored in big stacks 1 km away from Huelva city, covering 1000 ha. The fluxes of the radionuclides of interest along the production process and the effective doses received by the workers have been determined. Poecilia sphenops is a native species recently recorded in the Balsas basin and the Amacuzac River in Morelos (Mexico), in which it is abundant and widely distributed. This study analyzed some aspects of the reproductive biology of Poecilia sphenops from the Emiliano Zapata Reservoir, in Central Mexico. Specimens were collected using a 20 m-long seine with a 5 mm mesh size, from January to December 2006. A total of 581 specimens were collected: 407 females (70.0%), 83 males (14.3%) and 91 individuals with no differentiated sex (15.7%). Se presentan los resultados de la investigación ''Valoración estadística de la vida para el análisis del impacto de la accidentalidad'', fundamentada en un experimento de elección, mediante encuestas de preferencias declaradas, para estimar la disposición a pagar por reducir el riesgo de muerte en el contexto del servicio de transporte público colectivo en Bogotá. El experimento estudia la elección entre el servicio de transporte convencional y un nuevo sistema más seguro, a partir de la comparación de los atributos: tarifa, tiempo de viaje y probabilidad de muerte. Los datos recopilados se ajustan a un modelo Probit Binario que incluye el ingreso y nivel educativo de los individuos. Se encontró que el valor estadístico de la vida en este contexto es de 128 millones de pesos, el cual resulta significativamente inferior a valores internacionales trasladados a la renta colombiana, así que se abre el debate sobre el tema en el ámbito nacional.Results of a research entitled ''Statistical Assessment of Life for Analyzing Impact of Accident Rates'' are shown in this article; the research is based on an experiment of choice conducted through stated preference surveys with the purpose of estimating the will to pay for having risk of death decreased in a scenario of public transportation in Bogotá. The experiment assessed the choice between conventional transportation service and a new safer system by comparing several characteristics: rate, trip time, and death probability. Data collected are consistent to a Binary Probit model which includes income and educational level of the individuals. It was found that the statistical value of life in this context is 128 million Colombian pesos, which is a significantly lower price when compared to international values. The debate about this topic at a domestic level is then opened.

Aunque es un comportamiento común, está comprobado que usar el teléfono móvil mientras se conduce aumenta el riesgo de accidentes de tránsito debido a una disminución en la capacidad de reacción de los conductores; con el fin de perfeccionar las políticas conducentes a controlar este problema es importante estudiar los factores que definen esta conducta. Con datos de encuestas de preferencias declaradas aplicadas en Tunja (Colombia) se estimó un modelo de coeficientes aleatorios que explica el comportamiento de los conductores frente al uso del teléfono móvil mediante variables tales como género, antigüedad de la licencia, reducción de la velocidad, importancia de la llamada, condición de viajar en compañía, velocidad y costo de la multa. Se encontró que en este contexto la variable más importante es el costo de la multa con una elasticidad media de -1,236.

Se aplican modelos analíticos para evaluar cuatro tipos de capacidad ferroviaria en siete tramos del corredor Bogotá - Belencito. Se identifica el cantón crítico de la red ferroviaria, lo mismo que el tramo de mayor capacidad. Se analiza la capacidad disponible para el tren de cercanías de Bogotá y para un tren de pasajeros entre Tunja y Sogamoso, dadas las condiciones actuales de operación. Se hace un análisis de sensibilidad de la capacidad con respecto a la velocidad de operación y la distancia entre estaciones. Por último, se presentan recomendaciones para aumentar la capacidad ferroviaria del corredorAnalytical models are applied to evaluate four types of railway capacity in seven sections of the corridor Bogotá – Belencito. The critical canton of the railway network is identified, and the higher capacity segment. Given the current operating conditions, we analyzed the available capacity of Bogota’s commuter train and a passenger train between Tunja and Sogamoso. A sensitivity analysis of capacity is done about the operating speed and distance between stations and we then present recommendations to increase railway capacity in the corridor.

Se estudia una red de transporte combinado en Colombia, con horizonte en el año 2019, con el propósito de identificar las rutas óptimas del carbón desde los distritos de producción localizados en el interior del país hasta los puertos marítimos de exportación. La metodología utilizada se basa en la búsqueda de solución a un problema de flujo de mínimo costo que considera la red de transporte por carretera, la fluvial y ferroviaria, en un modelo que contiene 34.000 km de red representados en 1.864 arcos. El modelo considera nuevas infraestructuras ferroviarias y portuarias y sugiere que se deben transportar los carbones del interior del país por el puerto de Barranquilla mediante estrategias de integración ferroviaria-fluvial y carretera-fluvial. Se resalta la importancia del río Magdalena como infraestructura estratégica de transporte y se identifican tres centros de transferencia de carga localizados en Barrancabermeja, Bocas del Carare y Capulco, que en conjunto llegarían a manejar 18 millones de toneladas de carbón al año.Estuda-se uma rede de transporte combinado na Colômbia, com horizonte no ano 2019, com o propósito de identificar as rotas ótimas do carvão desde os distritos de produção localizados no interior do país até os portos marítimos de exportação. A metodologia utilizada baseia-se na busca de solução a um problema de fluxo de mínimo custo que considera as redes de transporte rodoviária, fluvial e ferroviária, em um modelo que cont��m 34.000 km de rede representados em 1.864 arcos. O modelo considera novas infraestruturas ferroviárias e portuárias e sugere que se devem transportar os carvões do interior do país pelo porto de Barranquilla mediante estratégias de integraç��o ferroviária-fluvial e rodoviária-fluvial. Ressalta-se a importância do rio Magdalena como infraestrutura estratégica de transporte e identificam-se três centros de transferência de mercadorias localizados em Barrancabermeja, Bocas del Carare e Capulco, que em conjunto chegariam a manejar 18 milhões de toneladas de carvão ao ano.A combined transport network is studied with planning perspective in 2019, in order to identify optimal routes for transporting coal from centrally located sites within Colombia to export ports. Methodology based on the solution to minimum cost flow problem is used, including transport networks: road, river and railway, in a model composed of 34.000 km represented in 1.864 links. Both new rail and new export port infrastructure are included in the model. Model indicates centrally located coal within Colombia must be transported through the port of Barranquilla, using integration strategies, such as rail-river and road-river. The importance of the Magdalena River as strategic transport infrastructure is highlighted and three cargo transfer centers are identified near Barrancabermeja, Bocas del Carare and Capulco, which together could handle 18 million tons of coal per year.

RELAP/SCDAPSIM Mod 3.4 has been used to simulate a station blackout occurring at a BWR/5 power station. Further, a simplified model of a wet well and dry well has been added to the NSSS model to study the response of the primary containment during the evolution of this accident. The initial event leading to severe accident was considered to be a LOOP with simultaneous scram. The results show that RCIC alone can keep the core fully covered, but even in this case about 30% of the original liquid water inventory in the PSP is vaporized. During the SBO, without RCIC, this inventory is reduced about 5% more within six hours. Further, a significant pressure rise occurs in containment at about the time when a sharp increase of heat generation occurs in RPV due to cladding oxidation. Failure temperature of fuel clad is also reached at this point. As the accident progresses, conditions for containment venting can be reached in about nine hours, although there still exists considerable margin before reaching containment design pressure. Detailed information of accident progress in reactor vessel and containment is presented and discussed.

Se revisan las funciones de costos internos y externos,con fines de modelación estratégica del transportede carga. Se estudian el costo interno del tiempo, elcosto interno de operación y cinco componentes delcosto externo: costo externo de la congestión, costoexterno de los accidentes, costos de la polución delaire, costo del cambio climático y costo externo dela infraestructura; a partir de estos se deriva la funciónde costo marginal total. Se encuentra que es posibleestimar de forma empírica los parámetros de lasfunciones aplicables al transporte de cargainterregional en Colombia en los modos de transportecarretero, ferroviario y fluvial, y con ellos estudiarlos costos marginales sobre una red estratégica detransporte de carga.

Este artículo presenta los resultados obtenidos a partir de la experimentación con distintos métodos de asignación de tránsito en una red prototipo para distintos volúmenes de tránsito. La experimentación generó 21 simulaciones resultantes de la aplicación de 7 métodos de asignación y 3 niveles de tránsito. Los métodos de asignación utilizados son: todo o nada, estocástico, capacidad restringida, asignación incremental, equilibrio de usuario, equilibrio estocástico y sistema óptimo. Las matrices utilizadas son: una matriz densa, una matriz media y una matriz semivacía. Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que en ausencia de congestión es indiferente la utilización de uno u otro método de asignación ya que los resultados convergen al equilibrio óptimo del sistema.

Age and growth of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) were determined using 1 039 specimens collected in a tropical shallow lake of Mexico, from January to December 1993. Standard length of females ranged from 9.0 to 16.5 cm and males from 8.9 to 14.8 cm. The standard length-weight relationships for all individuals was BW=0.1207 SL2.469. The age data, derived from opercular bone readings, were used to estimate the growth parameters of the von Bertalanffy equation: or = 17.88 cm, K=0.3409, t o=-1.543, and W=149.21 g. The oldest male and female were 2.5 years old. The sex ratio (female:male) was of 1:1 (X²=0.02, p>0.05). Rev. Biol. Trop. 56 (2): 875-884. Los datos de edad obtenidos a través de los anillos del hueso opercular se utilizaron para estimar los parámetros de crecimiento del modelo de von Bertalanffy: o = 17.88 cm, K=0.3409, t o=-1.543 y P o = 149.21 g. La edad máxima obtenida para hembras y machos fue de 2.5 año. La proporción sexual (hembra:macho) para la especie fue de 1:1 (X²=0.02, p>0.05)

7 páginas, 3 figuras et al.., A new species of Pseudoeurycea is described from cloud forests of the Sierra Madre Oriental of Puebla, México. The new species is distinguished from all other Pseudoeurycea by its small size, stout body, short tail, large nostrils, presence of characteristic glandular convergent ridges on the pelvic region and the tail, and by its distinctive limb structure, with very small hands and feet that are extensively webbed and bear prominent but short and pointy middle digits. The only apparent close relative of this species is P. praecellens, from which it differs by the position and distribution of the dorsal and caudal glands, body proportions, nostril size and coloration. All specimens of the new species were found in cloud forest, under a canopy of Liquidambar, Quercus, and arborescent ferns, as well as in a coffee grove. The elevational range for the species is narrow, between 905 and 1400 m, unusually low elevations for Pseudoeurycea., SEMARNAT provided the necessary collecting permits. Cerro Piedra Larga is an isolated mountain massif in eastern Oaxaca, lying just west of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. No previous biological inventories had assessed this range, making even a preliminary assessment of interest. During several weeks of work in the higher portions of the mountain range, we assembled such preliminary inventories for birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and plants. Geographically, the affinities of the highland biota of Cerro Piedra Larga appear to be mixed between the Sierra Madre Oriental and the Sierra Madre del Sur, suggesting that the biota likely originated by colonization, rather than via historical connections.

Age and growth of Oreochromis niloticus from Lagoon of Coatetelco, Morelos State, Mexico were studied from January through December, 1993. Scales of 318 specimens were collected. Modal length at capture was 10.5-11.5 cm standard length. Scales rings were formed during December. Back-calculated lengths-at-age showed no significant differences by sex. Four check marks were recorded. According to the growth curve parameters for population, the fish grow at a low rate (k=0.07) until they achieve a size (L*) of 29.19 cm.
