Objective: Gender could impact the psychosocial outcomes and coping strategies of cancer patients and their spousal caregivers (SCs). This study aims to develop a gender‐concerned program for colorectal cancer (CRC) couple‐based mutual communication intervention (MCI) and to assess its effectiveness on the intra‐couple relationship and the individual functions of the partners. Design: A randomized clinical trial with two study groups was utilized. Methods: A total of 144 CRC patients and their SCs were randomly assigned to either MCI or usual care (UC) groups, and all of them were required to complete the measurements at baseline and post‐intervention. The primary outcome was for mutual communication, and the secondary outcomes included dyadic coping, relationship satisfaction, anxiety, depression, benefit finding and quality of life. The data were analysed by multi‐level modelling. Results: The MCI program was feasible and acceptable for Chinese CRC couples and was effective for the improvement of the intra‐couple relationship and the individual functions of each partner. CRC patients showed more improvement in mutual communication and dyadic coping than their SCs in the MCI group. Also, this intervention effectiveness was found to be independent of gender. Conclusions: The MCI program is beneficial for Chinese CRC couple's adaptation outcomes. This suggests that clinical medical staff should consider the gender tendency during the implementation of interventions. The occurrence, distribution, and ecological risk assessment of 36 antibiotics from five groups, including macrolides (MLs), fluoroquinolones (FQs), tetracyclines (TCs), amphenicols (APs), and sulfonamides (SAs), were investigated for the first time in the Anning River, Sichuan Province, China. The results show that antibiotics were widely present in the sediments of the Anning River, with a total of 22 antibiotics detected. FQs were among the most abundant antibiotics, followed by TCs, MLs, APs, and SAs. The total concentrations of antibiotics in surface sediments varied from 0.05 to 53.35 ng/g, with an average of 8.09 ng/g. Among these groups, MLs, FQs, and TCs emerged as the predominant classes of antibiotics. The midstream sediments showed the highest residual levels of antibiotics, with lower levels observed in the downstream and upstream sediments. Anthropogenic activities, such as human clinical practices and animal breeding, might be sources of antibiotics released into the river. An ecological risk assessment revealed that trimethoprim from the SA group exhibited high risks, and MLs showed medium risks in the Anning River, whereas most antibiotics presented minimal to low risks. Abnormal TFT pattern were found after half‐tone exposure, development and etching process during the common "U" pattern type TFT process. The causes of abnormal TFT pattern were analyzed, and 9 kinds of TFTs with increased exposure dose in channel were designed in this paper. The experimental results showed that the 9 different designs of TFTs could solve the abnormal TFT pattern completely or partly. When the channel length at the position with the lowest exposure dose was designed to 5μm, the highest process tolerance was presented. Finally, a 32‐inch panel was produced by using TFT channel length with 4.7μm at the position of minimum exposure dose, and high yield & reliability results were obtained. Objectives: To promote posttraumatic growth (PTG) in colorectal cancer (CRC) couples, a couple‐based PTG intervention was conducted, and the intervention had previously proved be feasible in CRC couples. The current study was conducted to validate the effects of intervention in CRC couples. Method: This is a randomized controlled study that included 174 CRC couples. All participants were randomized to either the intervention (usual care plus 5‐week PTG intervention, n = 87) or the control group (usual care, n = 87). Data were collected from CRC couple dyads at baseline and immediately post‐intervention periods. Primary outcome refers to positive changes, and secondary outcomes include marital satisfaction, quality of life (QOL), and anxiety and depression. Multilevel modeling was applied to analyze the intervention effects. Results: Participants in the program showed increased PTG, marital satisfaction, and QOL both physically and mentally, and decreased levels of anxiety and depression over time. And spousal caregivers showed greater improvement in marital satisfaction and physical QOL compared with patients. In addition, significant intervention effects were shown in the participants' benefit finding, physical health and depressive symptoms. Conclusion: The study confirmed the effect of the PTG intervention on CRC couples' benefit finding, physical health and depressive symptoms. However, this study only measured outcome variables at two time‐points. Future studies should add follow‐up assessments to evaluate long‐term effects of the intervention in CRC couples. Background: Under the guidance of a preliminary Live with Love Conceptual Framework, a Caring for Couples Coping with Colorectal Cancer (4Cs: CRC) programme was designed specifically for colorectal cancer couples. The objectives of this study included examining the efficacy of the programme for couples adapting to colorectal cancer and comparing the effects of different intervention delivery modes (online, face‐to‐face and blended) on couple outcomes. Methods: A four‐arm randomized controlled trial was conducted among Chinese colorectal cancer couples. Couples were randomly assigned to an online intervention, a face‐to‐face intervention, a blended intervention or a control group. Self‐efficacy, dyadic coping, communication and dyadic outcomes (physical and mental health, negative and positive emotions and marital satisfaction) were evaluated at baseline and 6 weeks later. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and repeated measures ANOVA were employed to assess between‐group differences and within‐group effects in the four groups, respectively. Results: A total of 179 couples completed the 6‐week study and post‐study assessments. The intervention showed generally medium‐to‐large effects across multiple measured outcomes, including self‐efficacy, dyadic coping, communication, mental health, negative emotions and positive emotions for both patients and spouse caregivers. Additionally, interventions delivered through different modes produced equally significant effects on couple outcomes. Conclusions: The integrated intervention programme is effective in improving cancer adaptation in colorectal cancer couples. Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) causes severe physical and psychological impacts on the patients as well as their spousal caregivers. To facilitate the psychological adaptation of the CRC suffered couples, a couple‐based posttraumatic growth (PTG) intervention was developed based on the PTG affective‐cognitive processing model. The feasibility, acceptability and preliminary effect of this intervention were tested. Methods: A pre–post randomized controlled pilot trail was conducted for Chinese couples coping with CRC. Participants in the intervention group were provided five weekly sessions consecutively, while those in the control group were treated with usual care during the testing period. Outcomes were described as positive changes (PTG, benefit finding [BF]), marital satisfaction, quality of life and anxiety and depression. Qualitative method was also used to evaluate the programme participating sense of the couples. Results: The rate of programme recruitment and programme retention amounts to 78.6% and 87.5%, respectively. The participants have reported overall satisfaction for the programme attendance and have suggested detailed diet guidance. Significant effects were revealed in the outcomes for the CRC couples, including PTG, marital satisfaction, BF, physical and mental health and anxiety and depression. Conclusion: The study confirmed the feasibility and preliminary positive effect of the couple‐based PTG intervention for the CRC couples. However, in order to extend it in more general applications, large‐scale researches are warranted. Practical implication: The couple‐based intervention is effective for couples coping with CRC. By taking China's high-speed railway (HSR) network construction as a quasi-natural experiment, this paper uses the trend score matching and double difference methods to analyse the industrial structure transformation industrial intelligence development of the Chinese prefectural cities under the influence of the policy for HSR from 2006 to 2018. The research shows that the urban high-speed rail network connection has a positive effect on the transformation and upgrading of urban industrial structure. However, despite lagging, the effect still exerts a significant long-term mechanism after its peak. Considering the locations, population sizes, and main functions of HSR cities in terms of space, their specific impact on industrial restructuring and the efficiency of industrial agglomeration and evolution vary. Overall, the construction of HSR could facilitate the cities with leading economies and exert a significant reinforcing effect on medium-sized cities. The western cities, small cities, and cities with industrial bases but underdeveloped service industries should better use the strong policies to promote local industrial transformation and upgrading under the long-term mechanism of HSR network construction. This paper constructs a dynamic panel threshold model with a sample of firms in the Chinese A-share market. The authors analyse the non-linear relationship and the mechanisms between the two. The study found that there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between corporate technology innovation and institutional investors' group holdings and an inverse N-shaped relationship between corporate technology innovation output and institutional investors' group holdings. And when they add the innovation input to a lag operator, the model calculations are similar to the inverse N-type non-linear model of innovation output, and the two innovation indicators are consistent. When institutional investors feel the sentiment and the "pass the parcel" in the market, they will exit the group because of the risk factor. Although technological innovation in companies will contribute to their long-term development, it is important to be more aware of the risks involved. This study was conducted to determine the aphicidal effect of a leaf extract of the Atlantic potato cultivar on the performance of green peach aphids. Three concentrations of the leaf extract (100, 75, and 50% potato extract), synthetic pesticide (Beta cypermethrin 4.5%), and distilled water (control) treatments were applied in a greenhouse experiment. The results showed that the synthetic pesticide, which was used as a standard check, caused the maximum aphid mortality, followed by the 100% potato leaf extract. Compared with the other botanical treatments, the 100% extract produced low mean rates of survival, aphids' average daily reproduction, the number of nymphs per plant, and the number of nymphs per adult. This treatment also increased the accumulation of hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) and malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione-s-transferase, mixed-function oxidase, and carboxylesterase content in the green peach aphid. Moreover, the 100% extract also protected the host plants against green peach aphid attacks by demonstrating higher chlorophyll content, net photosynthesis, above-ground fresh weight, and above-ground dry weight of the host plant. This study demonstrates that the highest concentration of potato (Atlantic cultivar) leaf extract (100% extract) could be used as the appropriate dosage for the control of green peach aphids on potatoes, which could greatly reduce the use of synthetic insecticides and promote ecosystem sustainability. Objective. To assess the treatment outcome and postoperative quality of life of patients with gallbladder stones and chronic cholecystitis after open cholecystectomy and laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Methods. Between 2018 and 2020, 108 patients with gallbladder stones and chronic cholecystitis treated in our hospital were assessed for eligibility and randomly recruited. They were concurrently assigned (1 : 1) to receive either open cholecystectomy (control group) or laparoscopic cholecystectomy (study group). Outcome measures include surgical indices, inflammatory response, postoperative complications, and quality of life of patients. Results. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy was associated with a shorter duration of surgery, intraoperative bleeding, time to first postoperative bowel movement, and postoperative hospital stay versus open cholecystectomy (P < 0.05). The levels of inflammatory factors of all eligible patients were comparable before cholecystectomy (P > 0.05). The patients given laparoscopic cholecystectomy showed lower levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin (IL)-6, and IL-8 versus those given open cholecystectomy (P < 0.05). Laparoscopic cholecystectomy resulted in a significantly lower incidence of complication (3.56%) versus open cholecystectomy (24.07%) (P < 0.05). The patients had significantly higher physical, psychological, and social function scores after laparoscopic cholecystectomy versus open cholecystectomy (P < 0.05). Conclusion. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy provides better surgical results, mitigates the inflammatory response, lowers the incidence of complications, and improves the quality of life of patients versus open cholecystectomy, so it is worthy of application in clinical treatment. Abstract This report describes the genetic characterization of 297 wild-type measles viruses that were isolated in 24 provinces of China between 1995 and 2003. Phylogenetic analysis of the N gene sequences showed that all of the isolates belonged to genotype H1 except 3 isolates, which were genotype A. The nucleotide sequence and predicted amino acid homologies of the 294-genotype H1 strains were 94.7%–100% and 93.3%–100%, respectively. The genotype H1 isolates were divided into 2 clusters, which differed by approximately 2.9% at the nucleotide level. Viruses from both clusters were distributed throughout China with no apparent geographic restriction and multiple co-circulating lineages were present in many provinces. Even though other measles genotypes have been detected in countries that border China, this report shows that genotype H1 is widely distributed throughout the country and that China has a single, endemic genotype. This important baseline data will help to monitor the progress of measles control in China.

Neuropathic pain is rarely diagnosed. Oxyntomodulin is peripherally and centrally distributed; however, the potential mechanisms underlying the effects of oxyntomodulin in attenuating nociception remain unclear; thus, we aimed to explore them in the present study. A neuropathic pain model in male C57BL/6 mice was induced by intrathecal injection of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and the duration of nociceptive behavioral responses was measured with a stop-watch timer within 30 min. Western blotting was used to explore the protein levels of ionized calcium binding adaptor molecule-1 (IBA1), nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) phosphorylated-p65, interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-1β. We performed reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction and ELISA were performed to determine the mRNA and protein expression levels of IL-6 and IL-1β, respectively. An MTT assay was conducted to detect BV2 cell viability. Oxyntomodulin was observed to attenuate TNF-α-induced pain hypersensitivity in mice, as well as the expression of IBA1, NF-κB p-p65, IL-6 and IL-1β in the spinal cord. Oxyntomodulin exhibited no cytotoxicity on BV2 cells, and attenuated TNF-α-induced IL-6 and IL-1β production and release in BV2 cells and culture medium, respectively. Collectively, we proposed oxyntomodulin to attenuate TNF-α induced neuropathic pain associated with the release of glial cytokines IL-6 and IL-1β via inhibiting the activation of the NF-κB pathway. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNA molecules that are widely involved in cancer-related processes. The microRNA-21 (miR-21) has been identified as the only miRNA overexpressed in a variety of cancers, including leukemia. However, the function of miR-21 is yet unknown in chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). Antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs), as inhibitors of miRNAs, have already been applied to therapeutic development and functional identification in miRNA research. In this study, we found that the antisense inhibition of miR-21 in K562 cells suppressed cell migration, promoted cell apoptosis, and inhibited cell growth, and up-regulated the expression of the tumor suppressor gene PDCD4. Meanwhile, pre-miRNA-21 increased migration and decreased cell apoptosis without affecting proliferation. We also validated that PDCD4 is a functional target of miR-21 in K562 cells. These effects of miR-21 might be partially due to its regulation of PDCD4. Our data suggest that miR-21 may play an oncogenic role in the cellular processes of CML, and antisense inhibition of miR-21 may therefore be useful as CML therapy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is a vegetable crop that plays a major role in global food security. However, its production and sustainability are adversely affected due to aphid infestation. The green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), poses a significant threat to potato plants globally due to its high production of honeydew and transmission of viruses. Other researchers reported that drought severity could result in an outbreak of insect pests such as aphids. Accordingly, understanding the mechanism of host plant defense against aphids under drought stress is a major concern for insect pest management. This study was conducted to examine the cross-talk of phytohormones in potato glycoalkaloids' defense against green peach aphids under greenhouse conditions. The results showed that under drought conditions, the cross-talks of phytohormones do not only function as signal hormones, but also modify host plant secondary metabolites to defend against sap-sucking insects. Many potato cultivars may activate phytohormones under drought stress; however, only host plants with a greater level of secondary metabolites may be able to defend against aphid attack. This research will provide a scientific basis for the development of potato varieties with high yield, improved quality, and drought and pest resistance. Potato production is adversely affected by aphid infestation across the globe. Understanding the mechanism of host plant defense against aphids under drought stress is paramount for insect pest management. This study was conducted to examine the cross-talk of phytohormones in potato glycoalkaloids' defense against green peach aphids under greenhouse conditions. A 3 × 2 × 2 factorial experiment comprising three potato cultivars (Qingshu 9, Longshu 3, and Atlantic) and two levels each of water availability and aphid infestation was conducted. The results show that under drought stress, green peach aphids thrive well on host plants, which contain a relatively high water content. The resistant cultivar DXY, which exhibited a higher level of phytohormones, also demonstrated higher α-chaconine and α-solanine contents in both leaf and root, under drought and aphid stress. Conversely, the susceptible cultivar QS9, which exhibited a lower level of phytohormones, also demonstrated low α-chaconine and α-solanine contents in both leaf and root, under drought and aphid stress. The DXY cultivar, which possessed high resistant traits such as α-chaconine and α-solanine, can be used in areas where green peach aphid infestation is a major setback. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Drought stress on plants can cause cellular water deficits and influence the physiology of host plants, which alter the performance of insect pests. This study was conducted to determine the effect of drought and aphid (Myzus persicae Sulzer) infestation on three potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) genotypes under greenhouse conditions. A factorial experiment involving three potato genotypes, two levels of drought, and two levels of aphid infestation was conducted. The potato genotypes possessed different levels of tolerance to drought and are described as tolerant (Qingshu 9), moderately tolerant (Longshu 3), and sensitive (Atlantic). Sixty-day-old potato plants were infested with aphid nymphs and monitored for 20 d. There was a significant variety × drought × aphid interaction effect on the parameters measured. The genotype Atlantic, which is sensitive to drought, exhibited greater tolerance to aphid infestation under drought or no drought conditions than the other genotypes. This genotype also exhibited poor host acceptance and the aphid survival rate, colonization success, and average daily reproduction were low. Qingshu 9, which is tolerant to drought, was highly susceptible to aphid infestation and exhibited high host acceptance and greater aphid survival rate, colonization success, and average daily reproduction compared to the other genotypes. Background: This study aims to investigate the impact and safety of combining maternal voice stimulation with gravity feeding on low-birth-weight preterm infants. The research focuses on key outcomes such as gastric tube indwelling time, feeding transition time, adequate gastrointestinal nutrition time, recovery of birth weight time, length of hospital stay, and oral motor function in preterm infants., Methods: A total of 150 low birth weight preterm infants meeting inclusion criteria were recruited from the neonatal care unit and randomly assigned to three groups: traditional nasal feeding, gravity feeding with a homemade bracket, and a combined group receiving both gravity feeding and maternal voice stimulation. The groups were compared using parameters such as feeding intolerance incidence, gastric tube indwelling time, feeding transition time, adequate gastrointestinal nutrition time, recovery of birth weight time, hospital stay, and oral motor function., Results: The combined group exhibited a significantly lower incidence of feeding intolerance (26% lower than traditional nasal feeding, 18% lower than gravity feeding, P < .001). The traditional nasal feeding group had the highest incidence at 62%. The combined group showed a shorter indwelling time (19.01 ± 11.67 days), compared to the gravity feeding group (23.50 ± 13.04 days) and the traditional nasogastric feeding group (27.43 ± 11.91 days, P = .001). The combined group had a shorter hospital stay (27.09 ± 14.16 days) compared to the gravity feeding group (32.74 ± 13.32 days) and the traditional nasogastric feeding group (33.84 ± 12.42 days, P = .013). The combined group demonstrated a slightly longer recovery time (11.56 ± 4.08 days) than the gravity feeding group (11.14 ± 4.76 days) but significantly shorter than the traditional nasogastric feeding group (14.44 ± 5.42 days, P = .003). The combined group exhibited the highest improvement in oral motor function at 4 weeks after feeding (17.81 ± 0.39 points), surpassing both the gravity feeding group (16.10 ± 0.23 points) and the traditional nasogastric feeding group (15.15 ± 0.07 points, P < .001). The combined group demonstrated a significantly lower feeding transition time than the traditional nasal feeding group (P < .05) and comparable time to the gravity feeding group (P > .05). All the comparison results were statistically significant., Conclusion: Maternal voice stimulation combined with gravity feeding shows promising positive effects and high safety for low-birth-weight preterm infants. The combined approach outperformed both gravity feeding alone and traditional nasogastric feeding across various critical parameters. These findings support the potential clinical applicability and merit further consideration for wider implementation as a feeding method in neonatal care settings., Clinical Significance: The observed reductions in feeding intolerance, shortened gastric tube indwelling time, and enhanced oral motor function in low-birth-weight preterm infants receiving combined maternal voice stimulation and gravity feeding highlight a promising clinical approach. Objective: To explore the correlation between dyadic coping, self-perceived burden, caregiver burden, and anxiety/depression in colorectal cancer patient-spousal caregiver dyads., Methods: This study surveyed 200 colorectal cancer patient-spousal caregiver dyads from August 2022 to December 2022. It evaluated self-perceived burden (only for patients), caregiver burden (only for spousal caregivers), dyadic coping, anxiety, and depression. It analyzed data through Pearson's correlation and the actor-partner interdependence mediation model., Results: Self-perceived burden and caregiver burden were significantly associated with the anxiety/depression of both individuals in colorectal cancer patient-spousal caregiver dyads; patients' dyadic coping was associated with self-perceived burden and caregiver burden; caregivers' dyadic coping was only associated with patients' dyadic coping and depression. There was an actor-partner mediating effect of self-perceived burden between dyadic coping and anxiety/depression, but there was only a partner-mediating effect of caregiver burden between dyadic coping and anxiety/depression., Conclusion: This study confirmed the interrelationship between self-perceived burden, caregiver burden, dyadic coping, anxiety, and depression. Self-perceived burden and caregiver burden mediated the relationship between dyadic coping and anxiety/depression in colorectal cancer patient-spousal caregiver dyads. Ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi play fundamental roles in host plant growth and terrestrial ecosystems. Cedrus deodara is cultivated in several regions in China, has high ecological, economic and medicinal value, for its afforestation and providing timber and wood oil. Here, we investigated ECM colonization status of four urban C. deodara forests in Nantong, East China. We also characterized soil spore banks by conducting bioassay experiments using soils collected from these forests. In total, we identified 19 ECM fungal species, of which 13 species were found in mature forests and 9 species were identified in bioassay experiments, with only 3 species shared. Soil pH and available P content had significant effects on species occurrence in both mature trees and bioassay seedlings on local scales. ECM communities clearly (A = 0.391, p = 0.006) separated mature forests from spore banks. Thelephoracae was the richest family we detected associated with C. deodara , while Trichophaea sp . was the most dominant in mature forests, and Wilcoxina sp . was dominant in spore banks. ECM richness affected the growth of bioassay seedlings, especially after inoculation with 2 ECM species, promoting root growth, significantly (F = 3.028, p = 0.050), but it had no effects on shoots (F = 1.778, p = 0.177). No effect of inoculation rate was found on seedlings growth.
