In order to investigate the influence of carbonation treatment on the rebound strength measurement curve of machine-made sand concrete, this study conducted research on the carbonation mechanism sand concrete rebound strength measurement curve through rebound and compressive strength tests using carbonation degree and concrete strength grade as control variables. The results showed that in the short aging period, carbonation treatment had little effect on the compressive strength of manufactured sand concrete but could cause an increase in the rebound value measured by the high-strength and heavy rebound hammers. As the strength grade of the manufactured sand concrete increased, the rebound value measured by both the high-strength and heavy rebound hammers increased accordingly. Compared with the high-strength rebound hammer, the heavy rebound hammer had higher accuracy in detecting the rebound of the carbonated manufactured sand concrete. This study established measurement curves for uncorrected and corrected carbonation depths, among which the accuracy of the corrected carbonation depth measurement curve was higher. At the same time, this measurement curve has been applied to the rebound test of the Pinglu Canal Extra-Large Bridge Project in Guangxi, China, and its practicality and reliability have been verified. An indoor vibrational dissolution scouring test was designed to investigate the effects of vibrational frequency, vibrational acceleration, environmental temperature, and dissolution medium on the dissolution characteristics of cement-stabilized macadam base material during water erosion. The results showed that the dissolution damage effect exists in cement-stabilized macadam, and dissolution is an important evaluation index of its base failure. The amount of calcium ion (Ca2+) dissolution and pH of cement stabilized gravel increased with increasing vibrational time. When the vibrational frequency was in the range of 80–180 Hz , the amount of dissolved Ca2+ and the pH of the solution first increased, and then decreased with the vibrational frequency. The Ca2+ concentration and pH of the solution reached their maximum at 140 Hz for 10 h. Of the four vibrational dissolution factors considered, vibrational acceleration produced the largest degree of dissolution of cement-stabilized macadam. The leached Ca2+ concentration increased with increasing temperature of the dissolution medium and the concentration of ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) solution, while increasing pH decreased dissolution. Concrete with manufactured sand (MSC) requires adequate compressive properties, which may be caused by stone powder. This present study investigated the effect of different stone powder content (0%, 3%, 5%, 7%, 9% and 11%) on compressive properties of MSC. The properties of fresh MSC were evaluated by three tests, compressive strength, axial compressive strength and elastic modulus. Measure results showed that stone powder as part of fine aggregate replacement improved compressive properties of MSC. The content ranging from 5%–7% increased compressive strength. The content of 11% could greatly improve axial compressive strength. The elastic modulus had a slightly enhancement when the stone powder was within 9%. A large-stone asphalt mixture (LSAM) is usually used as the base course of asphalt pavement to prevent the generation of cracks. However, there are few studies on the fracture performance and crack resistance of LSAMs. Under the monotonic tensile loading mode, the overlay test (OT) was explored to investigate the influence of different test factors on the cracking resistance and fracture performance. The study results indicated that a change in temperature and aging results in a variation in fractal dimension, the fracture energy of crack growth is higher than that of crack initiation, and fracture energy is increased to a certain extent by decreased temperature, an increased loading rate or increased aging. The aim of this paper is to study the feasibility of using an electrolytic manganese residue (EMR) as modified asphalt. In this paper, after grinding the electrolytic manganese residue (EMR) into asphalt, the electrolytic manganese residue- (EMR-) modified asphalt was prepared with different mix ratios. The three major indicators of the modified asphalt were studied, and its modification mechanism was studied by differential scanning calorimetry, infrared spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy. The adhesion force, surface energy, and dissipation energy of the asphalt before and after modification were analyzed by a force curve. The results show that the surface energy of the electrolytic manganese residue (EMR) is increased after grinding, the high temperature performance of the asphalt is improved, and the temperature sensitivity of the asphalt is decreased; however, the low-temperature performance is not improved obviously. When the powder oil ratio is 9%, the comprehensive performance of the asphalt is the best. The results of the infrared spectrum analysis show that the mixture of the electrolytic manganese residue (EMR) and asphalt does not produce new functional groups, and thus, the preparation method is a physical modification method. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) results show that the electrolytic manganese residue (EMR) can enhance the high-temperature stability of asphalt. Red mud, a waste residue of aluminium industry, was used as modified asphalt material to prepare red mud modified asphalt and red mud modified asphalt under freeze-thaw cycles. The matrix asphalt (MA), red mud modified asphalt (RMMA), and red mud modified asphalt under freeze-thaw cycles (RMMAFC) were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Microscopic experiments were conducted to investigate the modification performance and mechanism. The modification mechanism of red mud modified asphalt was investigated using molecular dynamics simulation in this study. The results show that red mud can form a uniform and stable blending system with base asphalt after adding base asphalt. The structure of asphalt after adding red mud and adding red mud and freezing-thawing cycles does not change. The bee-structure decreases obviously with the addition of red mud by atomic force microscopy (AFM). Density decreases gradually, but bee-structure height increases obviously; bee-structure of red mud modified asphalt is destroyed after freeze-thaw cycles. Through differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), after adding red mud, heat absorption decreases. Freeze-thaw cycles greatly reduce heat absorption of red mud modified asphalt. Constructing molecular model of major components of red mud (Fe2O3, Al2O3) and asphaltene, simulation results show that the interfacial energy between asphaltene and red mud's main components Fe2O3 and Al2O3 at −10°C, 25°C, and 170°C is stronger than that of Fe2O3. The results of calculating the interfacial energy of asphaltene on the chemical composition surface of red mud are negative. It can be seen that there are adsorption effects on the surface of asphaltene and red mud. Therefore, increasing the content of Al2O3 or decreasing the content of Fe2O3 in red mud is beneficial to the adsorption of asphaltene. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Quantum entanglement is a fundamental resource for secure information processing and communications, and hyperentanglement or high-dimensional entanglement has been separately proposed for its high data capacity and error resilience. The continuous-variable nature of the energy-time entanglement makes it an ideal candidate for efficient high-dimensional coding with minimal limitations. Here, we demonstrate the first simultaneous high-dimensional hyperentanglement using a biphoton frequency comb to harness the full potential in both the energy and time domain. Long-postulated Hong-Ou-Mandel quantum revival is exhibited, with up to 19 time-bins and 96.5% visibilities. We further witness the high-dimensional energy-time entanglement through Franson revivals, observed periodically at integer time-bins, with 97.8% visibility. This qudit state is observed to simultaneously violate the generalized Bell inequality by up to 10.95 standard deviations while observing recurrent Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt S-parameters up to 2.76. Our biphoton frequency comb provides a platform for photon-efficient quantum communications towards the ultimate channel capacity through energy-time-polarization high-dimensional encoding. Purpose: The role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in colon cancer remains unclear. This trial investigated whether 3 months of modified infusional fluorouracil, leucovorin, and oxaliplatin (mFOLFOX6) or capecitabine and oxaliplatin (CAPOX) as NAC could improve outcomes in patients with locally advanced colon cancer versus upfront surgery., Patients and Methods: OPTICAL was a randomized, phase III trial in patients with clinically staged locally advanced colon cancer (T3 with extramural spread into the mesocolic fat ≥5 mm or T4). Patients were randomly assigned 1:1 to receive six preoperative cycles of mFOLFOX6 or four cycles of CAPOX, followed by surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy (NAC group), or immediate surgery and the physician's choice of adjuvant chemotherapy (upfront surgery group). The primary end point was 3-year disease-free survival (DFS) assessed in the modified intention-to-treat (mITT) population., Results: Between January 2016 and April 2021, of the 752 patients enrolled, 744 patients were included in the mITT analysis (371 in the NAC group; 373 in the upfront surgery group). At a median follow-up of 48.0 months (IQR, 46.0-50.1), 3-year DFS rates were 82.1% in the NAC group and 77.5% in the upfront surgery group (stratified hazard ratio [HR], 0.74 [95% CI, 0.54 to 1.03]). The R0 resection was achieved in 98% of patients who underwent surgery in both groups. Compared with upfront surgery, NAC resulted in a 7% pathologic complete response rate (pCR), significantly lower rates of advanced tumor staging (pT3-4: 77% v 94%), lymph node metastasis (pN1-2: 31% v 46%), and potentially improved overall survival (stratified HR, 0.44 [95% CI, 0.25 to 0.77])., Conclusion: NAC with mFOLFOX6 or CAPOX did not show a significant DFS benefit. However, this neoadjuvant approach was safe, resulted in substantial pathologic downstaging, and appears to be a viable therapeutic option for locally advanced colon cancer.

Near-infrared Hong-Ou-Mandel quantum interference is observed in silicon nanophotonic directional couplers with raw visibilities on-chip at 90.5%. Spectrally-bright 1557-nm two-photon states are generated in a periodically-poled KTiOPO₄ waveguide chip, serving as the entangled photon source and pumped with a self-injection locked laser, for the photon statistical measurements. Efficient four-port coupling in the communications C-band and in the high-index-contrast silicon photonics platform is demonstrated, with matching theoretical predictions of the quantum interference visibility. Constituents for the residual quantum visibility imperfection are examined, supported with theoretical analysis of the sequentially-triggered multipair biphoton, towards scalable high-bitrate quantum information processing and communications. The on-chip HOM interference is useful towards scalable high-bitrate quantum information processing and communications.

To explore the relation between DNA base composition and the optimal single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) electrophoretic temperature (T(s)), we analyzed DNA base composition and T(s) of 24 DNA fragments from different genes and found that T(s) was positively correlative with the ratio of base C/base A. T(s) could be estimated by the formula T(s) = [80 x C/(A+1)]/[2.71 + [C/(A+1)]]. T(s) could be increased dramatically by the complementary sequences in both 5'-and 3'-ends of a DNA single-strand.
