Abstract

Matière Nucléaire; International audience; Invariant transverse-velocity spectra of intermediate-mass fragments were measured with the 4-pi multi-detector system INDRA for collisions of Au on Au at incident energies between 40 and 150 MeV per nucleon. Their scaling properties as a function of incident energy and atomic number Z are used to distinguish and characterize the emissions in (i) peripheral collisions at the projectile and target rapidities, and in (ii) central and (iii) peripheral collisions near mid-rapidity. The importance of dynamical effects is evident in all three cases and their origin is discussed.

Abstract

Matière Nucléaire, GANIL0 E207; International audience; Intermediate velocity emissions of light charged particle are studied for te Ar + Ni system at 95 A. MeV. Experimental parallel veocity distributions and transverse energies are compared to those of a calculation based on intranuclear cascades followed by an evaporation step. The trend of the distributions are very similar confirming the importance of prompt emissions in experimental data.

Abstract

A sample of `single-source' events, compatible with the multifragmentation of very heavy fused systems, are isolated among well-measured 155Gd+natU 36AMeV reactions by examining the evolution of the kinematics of fragments with Z>=5 as a function of the dissipated energy and loss of memory of the entrance channel. Single-source events are found to be the result of very central collisions. Such central collisions may also lead to multiple fragment emission due to the decay of excited projectile- and target-like nuclei and so-called `neck' emission, and for this reason the isolation of single-source events is very difficult. Event-selection criteria based on centrality of collisions, or on the isotropy of the emitted fragments in each event, are found to be inefficient to separate the two mechanisms, unless they take into account the redistribution of fragments' kinetic energies into directions perpendicular to the beam axis. Abstract

(N)Ict's invaded the class and the university since nation-wide plans have disseminated technology in France as in other countries of the world, whatever their level of development. The attention is generally focused on these changes in the institution. But another deeper factor and less studied is the impact of Ict's on the younger generations which were born with these "new technologies" in their cradle (i.e. the mobile plays vidéos, simulation games, telephones with their sms and mms, numerical photographs, computers, the Internet and its flood of musics and networked plays, e-amils and surfing. The defended assumption is that the intensive exposure of young people to the objects of the (n)Ict's is one of the key factor both of the Flynn effect (general increase in the IQ and the request for intellectual stimulation) and of the world-wide crisis of education. It is proposed that one of the ways of resolution of this crisis passes by the appropriation of the culture of the Cyberspace by the education systems. If admittedly technology has some perverse effects on education and the culture, one should at least seek to exploit its potentialities through a renwed pedagogical project.

Abstract

In this proceeding we report on alpha particle emission through the nuclear break-up in the reaction 40Ca on a 40Ca target at 50A MeV. It is observed that alpha particles are emitted to the continuum with very specific angular distribution during the reaction. The alpha particle properties seem to be compatible with an alpha cluster in the daughter nucleus that is perturbed by the short range nuclear attraction of the collision partner and emitted as described by a time-dependent theory. This mechanism offers new possibilities to study alpha particle properties in the nuclear medium. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
