Abstract

The results of studies on the effect of the biostimulator of growth Biostim Universal, sowing patterns and distances in a row of beetroot plants using a drip irrigation system on the yield of the Bordeaux 237 variety on meadow soils of the Tersko-Sulak lowland of the Republic of Dagestan are presented. Studies have shown that two-fold spraying of plants with organomineral fertilization with biostimulator Biostim Universal in the phase of 4-6 leaves and at 50% closing of rows with a dose of 2.0 l / ha with a working solution consumption of 200 ... 400 l/ha contributes to the growth of the assimilation surface of leaves by 9.9 ... 11.5% and an increase in yield by 12.2%. The transition from sowing with a row spacing of 45 cm to strip sowing according to the scheme of 20x8+50 cm with a distance in a row between plants of 8 cm (density 357 thousand pieces/ha), contributes to an increase in the yield of 50 t/ha of root crops and more. Abstract

Results are reported from an improved measurement of $\nu_\mu \rightarrow \nu_e$ transitions by the NOvA experiment. Using an exposure equivalent to $6.05\times10^{20}$ protons-on-target 33 $\nu_e$ candidates were observed with a background of $8.2\pm0.8$ (syst.). Combined with the latest NOvA $\nu_\mu$ disappearance data and external constraints from reactor experiments on $\sin^22\theta_{13}$, the hypothesis of inverted mass hierarchy with $\theta_{23}$ in the lower octant is disfavored at greater than $93\%$ C.L. for all values of $\delta_{CP}$., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

The paper addresses the issue of desertification in Dagestan, Russia. The area of sandy soils in the Terek-Kuma Lowland has reached 450 thousand hectares, although these lands can still be used in agriculture. The study seeks to develop elements of a drip irrigation technology for cultivating root crops on sandy lands and to obtain economically viable yields. Three-year studies determined that the optimal arrangement of planting the crops and placing the drippers is 0.3 × 0.2 m for winter garlic and table carrots and 0.35 × 0.3 m for sugar beet. The developed drip irrigation regime at the watering rates of 43-54 m3/ha allowed obtaining economically viable yields of winter garlic and table carrots. The use of organic fertilizers for increasing the fertility of sandy soils was found feasible. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes with the Schiff bases derived from Delta(3)-tetrahydrobenzaldehyde or 2-methyl-Delta(3)-tetrahydrobenzaldehyde and glycine were synthesized. These compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses, conductivity measurements and infrared spectroscopy. The Schiff base ligands and their complexes have been further characterized by H-1 NMR The results suggest that the Schiff base acts as a bidentate ligand which bonds to the metal ions through the imino nitrogen and carboxylate oxygen. The potassium salts of the Schiff bases are 1:1 electrolytes, but all the complexes are non-electrolytes.

Abstract

The results obtained in a study of the frequency and temperature dependences of the ac electrical conductivity of FeIn2Se4 single crystals are presented. It is found that the law σ ~ fS (0.1 ≤ S ≤ 1.0) is obeyed for electrical conductivity in the 295-375 K temperature range at frequencies of 2 × 104-106 Hz. It shown that the frequency dependence of the conductivity in an FeIn2Se4 single crystal can be accounted for in terms of the multiplet model, and, consequently, the conductivity in these single crystals is characterized by the band-hopping mechanism. 41. The UV-laser induced heating effect on photoluminescence from ZnO nanocrystals deposited on different substrates.

Abstract

Photoluminescence (PL) from ZnO nanocrystals deposited on silicon, sapphire and glass substrates was measured at different temperatures and UV-laser excitation densities. Our studies show that the PL properties of the nanocrystals are a strong function of the ultraviolet laser excitation density and the thermophysical properties of the substrates used. Even at low temperatures (10–30 K), high-power laser illumination can heat the top layer of nanocrystals up to 100 K. The heating effect induced by laser illumination results in a saturation behaviour of the PL intensity with increasing excitation density. It is determined that the degree of the saturation depends on the substrates' thermophysical properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

ZnO nanocrystals grown by chemical solution deposition were studied by means of photoluminescence and cathodoluminescence spectroscopy. A postgrown annealing treatment significantly improved the UV emission efficiency and resulted in the clear appearance of a low temperature emission band around 3.31 eV (so-called A-line). Spatially and wavelength resolved cathodoluminescence measurements revealed a spotlike distribution of the A-line emission on a nanocrystal surface. It is found that there is a strong correlation between the emission around 3.31 eV and the specklike defects on the nanocrystal surface that appeared after annealing. The properties of two-flavored massive Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model in (1 + 1)-dimensional spacetime are investigated in the presence of isospin and quark number chemical potentials. The consideration is performed in the large-Nc limit, where Nc is the number of colored quarks. It is shown in the framework of this model that charged pion condensation phenomenon of dense quark/hadron isotopically asymmetric matter is rather a spatially inhomogeneous than a homogeneous one.
