Abstract

In recent years managing ecological changes and comprehending diverse anthropogenic contributions towards pollution is now of great concern due to industrialization. Therefore, creating an environmentally friendly solution for dealing with harmful substances like Methylene Blue in water has become a critical issue. This experimental investigation aims to design and assess the unmodified clay mineral of the Panchaganga River flood zone for the removal of MB by batch tests. The removal of MB was examined by optimizing all the variables, further XRD, SEM, EDX, BET, and FTIR, were all used to meticulously examine the NC before and after adsorption. Methylene Blue content was determined by UV-visible spectrophotometrically, and the mechanism of NC's adsorption to MB in water was examined by modeling isotherm and kinetics studies. At pH 7.00 to 8.00, the NC showed a high extraction of MB due to negatively charged clay surface (Si-O-), (Al-O-). The adsorption capacity qm obtained was 88.8 mg/g (Langmuir). The kinetics study showed that the adsorption mechanism follows pseudo-2nd-order indicating chemisorption as a rate-determining step, moreover, adsorption also occurs via the intra-particle-diffusion process due to small pores on NC. The study demonstrates that the NC exhibits significant efficacy in efficiently removing the cationic dye (MB) pollutant from waste-water systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Corona is a luminous, audible discharge that occurs when there is an excessive localized electrical field gradient upon an object that causes ionization and possible electrical breakdown of the fluid such as air adjacent to this object that is electrically charged. A corona ring also called an anti-corona ring or grading ring is a toroid of conductive material, usually a metal, attached to a terminal of high voltage equipment. The role of a corona ring is to distribute the electrical field gradient and lower its maximum values below the corona threshold, thus prevent corona discharge. Corona rings having larger diameter have a lower electric field gradient at the surface. Hence, corona rings having larger diameter produce lower corona discharge compared to corona rings with a smaller diameter. We know that coating Nanoparticles on the surface of the material increases the area to volume ratio, thus coating the corona ring using electrically conductive Nanoparticles increases the surface area of the ring and helps in improving electrical field distribution which results in reduced voltage stress per area on the ring and thereby reducing the corona discharge. Abstract

A nano fluid is a liquid that contains nanoparticles. This research looked at the synthesis and dielectric strength of a 5 percent nickel doped aluminium oxide nanofluid with IS-335 as the base fluid, which is the most often used oil in transformers. Combustion was used to make nickel doped aluminium oxide nanoparticles. X-ray diffraction and EDX were used to identify them. This work investigates the effects of varying nanoparticle concentrations on transformer oil dielectric strength. The nickel doped aluminium oxide nanoparticles will raise the breakdown strength of the base oil by 64.28 percent, hence improving the transformer oil's breakdown strength. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Increased material demand in all sectors is primarily due to exponential growth in population to fulfill human needs and comforts. Recycling of collected aluminium beverage cans and Al 6061 alloy scraps from industries ensures energy savings with reduced environmental problems in fabricating composite parts economically. The iron oxide (α-Fe2O3) nanoparticles were prepared by precipitation method using ferric chloride and ammonia as a precursor. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized by using Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). Stir cast processing route ensures uniform mix of reinforcement nanoparticles in matrix material. The prepared nanocomposites (matrix: Al Scrap (90% Scrap Al 6061 alloy + 10% Waste Al can); reinforcement: 2%, 4% and 6% wt. of Al matrix) were mechanically characterized for hardness and tensile strengths. It was observed that, increased percent of Fe2O3 nanoparticles in the metal matrix nanocomposite (MMCs) resulted in significant increase in hardness and tensile strength values. Fractography analysis examined viz. scanning electron microscope (SEM) revealed a ductile failure for as-cast Al scrap followed by brittle failure in Al MMC's.

Abstract

The electrochemical degradation of 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (1-NAA) was studied using multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and calcium-doped zinc oxide (Ca–ZnO) nanoparticles embedded in carbon paste electrodes (CPEs). Samples of water, fruits, soil, and vegetables were accurately analyzed using the square wave voltammetry (SWV) technique. Using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and SWV methods, we investigated the impact of various factors on 1-NAA. The sensor displayed exceptional catalytic properties and peak current in a pH 3.0 0.2 M phosphate buffer (PB) solution. The peak currents for the bare CPE (BCPE), MWNTs/CPE, Ca-doped ZnO/CPE, and MWNTs/Ca–ZnO/CPE were 2.53 μA, 4.42 μA, 5.96 μA, and 13.78 μA, respectively. Similarly, the peak potentials for BCPE, MWNTs/CPE, Ca-doped ZnO/CPE, and MWNTs/Ca–ZnO/CPE were measured to be 1.127 V, 1.131 V, 1.126 V, and 1.081 V, respectively. Electrokinetic parameters like temperature and the heterogeneous rate constant, as well as the scan rate, pH, accumulation time, the energy of activation, transfer coefficient, and electron involvement, were examined in the electrochemical oxidation of 1-NAA. So the detection and quantification limits for the 1-NAA molecule are 0.025 nM and 0.084 nM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
