WT and LOS were the outcome variables of the study, and gender, age, arrival type, triage level determined based on the clinical acuity, diagnosis encoded based on International Classification of Diseases-10 (ICD-10), the existence of diagnostic tests or consultation status were the identified factors. The significance of the differences in WT and LOS values based on each level of these factors was analyzed using independent sample t-tests and ANOVA.Results: While patients for which no diagnostic testing or consultation was requested had a significantly higher WT in EDs, their LOS values were substantially lower than those for which at least one diagnostic test or consultation was ordered (p≤ 0.001). Besides, elderly and red zone patients and those who arrived by ambulance had significantly lower WT and higher LOS values than other levels for all groups of patients for which laboratory-type or imaging-type diagnostic test or consultation was requested (p≤ 0.001 for each comparison).Conclusion: Besides ordering diagnostic tests or consultation in EDs, different factors may extend patients’ WT and LOS values and cause significant decision-making delays. Understanding the patient characteristics associated with longer waiting times and LOS values and, thus, delayed decisions will enable practitioners to improve operations management in EDs.Keywords: emergency department, waiting time, length of stay, delay

End-of-life vehicle (ELV) forecasting constitutes a crucial aspect of sustainable waste management and resource allocation strategies. While the existing literature predominantly employs time-series forecasting and machine learning methodologies, a dearth of studies leveraging deep learning techniques, particularly Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks, is evident. Moreover, the focus on localized contexts within national or municipal boundaries overlooks the imperative of addressing ELV generation dynamics at an international scale, particularly within entities such as the EU-27. Furthermore, the absence of methodologies to reconcile missing historical data presents a significant limitation in forecasting accuracy. In response to these critical gaps, this study proposes a pioneering framework that integrates grey systems theory (GST)-based backcasting with LSTM-based deep learning methodologies for forecasting ELV generation within the EU until 2040. By introducing this innovative approach, this study not only extends the methodological repertoire within the field but also enhances the applicability of findings to supranational regulatory frameworks. Moreover, the incorporation of backcasting techniques addresses data limitations, ensuring more robust and accurate forecasting outcomes. The results indicate an anticipated decline in the recovery and recycling of ELVs, underscoring the urgent need for intervention by policymakers and stakeholders in the waste management sector. Through these contributions, this study enriches our understanding of ELV generation dynamics and facilitates informed decision-making processes in environmental sustainability and resource management domains.

NHL accounts for less than 5% of all adult cancers. Bone lymphomas, mostly NHL, may cause extradural cord compression. Non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL) represent a group of heterogeneous neoplasms originating from the bone marrow or lymph nodes. NK cell tumours with CD56 positive immunophenotype are a very rare and heterogeneous group of diseases among bone lymphomas presenting with nonspecific clinical and radiological findings. Although there is no gold standard treatment for this disease, there are various forms of treatment such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgery or radiotherapy. In this report, a primary bone lymphoma with vertebral and femur involvement, which is treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy and autologous transplantation after surgical treatment, is presented.

This article discusses how Turkish people in the suburb of Broadmeadows in Melbourne, Australia, construct nostalgia for their earlier days as migrants. Furthermore, it highlights the didactic and ethical role this nostalgia plays within the Turkish community. Turkish migrants began to manifest nostalgia for the earlier days in Australia after the dream of returning to the homeland began to wane. This nostalgia presents an image of the ideal Turk to the younger generations in Australia and therefore helps to preserve the Turkish identity. This nostalgia also enables Turks to distance themselves from negative images of the contemporary homeland, allowing them to present themselves as authentic Turks; it also helps Turkish Australians to cope with their economic marginality in Australia. Nostalgia for the early days in Australia therefore has many purposes for Turkish Australians today.

The aim of this study is to adapt the Statistics Anxiety Scale (SAS) developed by Vigil-Colet et al. (2008) to Turkish. This study is expected to fill an important gap in the literature since no valid and reliable specific statistics anxiety scale developed or adapted in Turkish for undergraduate students in the literature is available. The sample consists of a total of 439 university students, 258 women and 181 men, studying at Düzce University. The construct validity of the Turkish form of SAS was examined by EFA and DFA. Also, for the criterion validity, a different statistics anxiety scale whose validity and reliability tested was used. As a result of EFA, a three-dimensional structure was obtained as in the structure of the original scale. According to the CFA results, which is the second analysis for construct validity, all fit index results of the model were at an acceptable level. Thus, the CFA results supported the three-factor structure obtained from EFA findings. As a result of the reliability analysis, the Cronbach's Alpha internal coefficients of the SAS and its subscales and, the Guttman and Spearman-Brown internal consistency coefficients of Split-Half Reliability methods were quite high and above the limit of 0.70. For item discrimination, items have good discrimination by obtaining all values above 0.30 lower limit in the results. When the results of the study are evaluated as a whole, the SAS form adapted to Turkish can be used as a guiding scale to measure the statistics anxiety of undergraduate students.

The aim of this research is to examine postgraduate theses carried out on digital story in the field of education in Turkey with content and citation analysis. Methodological evaluation and citation analysis techniques were used in the research. In the research, 68 postgraduate theses accessed on the National Thesis Centre of the Council of Higher Education, a search platform, were examined. The findings of the research reveal that the number of theses on digital stories has increased until 2020. Most of the theses were prepared at Gazi University. Postgraduate theses were mainly carried out under the guidance of advisors with the title Associate Professor. The theses on digital stories were mostly prepared in the field of Elementary Education. Mixed approach models were mostly preferred as a method in theses. The sampling of the theses mostly consisted of students at K-12 level. Scale, achievement test, and interview form were used as data collection tools. The data were analyzed mostly using the t-test and content analysis. Digital stories were most frequently prepared by using Photo Story 3 and Movie Maker programs. Digital storytelling applications were mostly used with elementary and secondary school students. "Digital story/(storytelling) narration/design", "academic achievement and "attitude" were the most frequently used keywords. The most cited type of source in the theses examined was articles. The most frequently cited source in the theses was the "Computer & Education." Among the references to the books, Joe Lambert's "Digital storytelling cookbook and traveling companion" is at the top of the list. In addition, the most frequently cited researcher was Bernard R. Robin.

Abstract Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is widely used in clinical care and medical research. The signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) in the measurement affects parameters that determine the diagnostic value of the image, such as the spatial resolution, contrast, and scan time. Surgically implanted radiofrequency coils can increase SNR of subsequent MRI studies of adjacent tissues. The resulting benefits in SNR are, however, balanced by significant risks associated with surgically removing these coils or with leaving them in place permanently. As an alternative, here the authors report classes of implantable inductor–capacitor circuits made entirely of bioresorbable organic and inorganic materials. Engineering choices for the designs of an inductor and a capacitor provide the ability to select the resonant frequency of the devices to meet MRI specifications (e.g., 200 MHz at 4.7 T MRI). Such devices enhance the SNR and improve the associated imaging capabilities. These simple, small bioelectronic systems function over clinically relevant time frames (up to 1 month) at physiological conditions and then disappear completely by natural mechanisms of bioresorption, thereby eliminating the need for surgical extraction. Imaging demonstrations in a nerve phantom and a human cadaver suggest that this technology has broad potential for post‐surgical monitoring/evaluation of recovery processes.
