A crystalline and non-crystalline composite of pure carbon was proposed, which is a carbon whiskers reinforced porous glassy carbon composite, where crystalline carbon whiskers support the microscopic pores of non-crystalline glassy carbon matrix. Two allotropes of carbon were produced simultaneously and compounded together in a single high temperature treatment of thermosetting phenolic resin, with aluminum oxide (Al2O3) as a catalyst. A synchronous growth theory was proposed to explain the growth mechanism. In the pyrolysis process of phenolic resin to generate porous glassy carbon, hydrocarbon gas was produced and trapped in the generated pores. By the same time, the hydrocarbon gas in pores was decomposed and grew carbon whiskers by catalysis of Al2O3. With linear thermal expansion coefficient from 2.0∙10−6 to 3.8∙10−6 K−1, thermal conductivity from 1.763 to 2.518 W∙m−1 K−1, specific heat capacity from 0.396 to 0.752 J∙g−1 K−1, thermal diffusivity from 6.115 to 4.598 mm2 s−1, between room temperature (RT) and 500 °C, the Vickers hardness is at 65 MPa, and the fracture toughness is at 0.329 Mpa∙m1/2 in RT. The carbon whiskers reinforced porous glassy carbon composite keeps a balance between thermophysical and mechanical properties, showing its application value in thermal insulation materials and high temperature structure materials.

Abstract The cell cycle arrest markers tissue inhibitor metalloproteinases-2 (TIMP-2) and insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (IGFBP7) have been identified as potential biomarkers of acute kidney injury (AKI) in critically ill adults in intensive care units and cardiac surgery-associated AKI (CSA-AKI). However, the clinical impact on all-cause AKI remains unclear. Here, we report a meta-analysis performed to evaluate the predictive value of this biomarker for all-cause AKI. The PubMed, Cochrane, and EMBASE databases were systematically searched up to April 1, 2022. We used the Quality Assessment Tool for Diagnosis Accuracy Studies (QUADAS-2) to assess the quality. We extracted useful information from these studies and calculated the sensitivity, specificity, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC). Twenty studies with 3625 patients were included in the meta-analysis. The estimated sensitivity of urinary [TIMP-2] × [IGFBP7] in the diagnosis of all-cause AKI was 0.79 (95% CI 0.72, 0.84), and the specificity was 0.70 (95% CI 0.62, 0.76). The value of urine [TIMP-2] × [IGFBP7] in the early diagnosis of AKI was assessed using a random effects model. The pooled positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) were 2.6 (95% CI 2.1, 3.3), 0.31 (95% CI 0.23, 0.40), and 8 (95% CI 6, 13), respectively. The AUROC was 0.81 (95% CI 0.78–0.84). No significant publication bias was observed in eligible studies. Subgroup analysis indicated that the diagnostic value was related to the severity of AKI, time measurement, and clinical setting. This study shows that urinary [TIMP-2] × [IGFBP7] is a reliable effective predictive test for all cause-AKI. However, whether and how urinary [TIMP-2] × [IGFBP7] can be used in clinical diagnosis still requires further research and clinical trials.

Ultrafast extreme ultraviolet (XUV) transient absorption spectroscopy measures the time- and frequency-dependent light losses after light–matter interactions. In the linear region, the matter response to an XUV light field is usually determined by the complex refractive index [Formula: see text]. The absorption signal is directly related to the imaginary part of [Formula: see text], namely, the absorption index. The real part of [Formula: see text] refers to the real refractive index, which describes the chromatic dispersion of an optical material. However, the real refractive index information is usually not available in conventional absorption experiments. Here, we investigate the refractive index line shape in ultrafast XUV transient absorption spectroscopy by using a scheme that the XUV pulse traverses the target gas jet off-center. The jet has a density gradient in the direction perpendicular to the gas injection direction, which induces deflection on the XUV radiation. Our experimental and theoretical results show that the shape of the frequency-dependent XUV deflection spectra reproduces the refractive index line profile. A typical dispersive refractive index line shape is measured for a single-peak absorption; an additional shoulder structure appears for a doublet absorption. Moreover, the refractive index line shape is controlled by introducing a later-arrived near-infrared pulse to modify the phase of the XUV free induction decay, resulting in different XUV deflection spectra. The results promote our understanding of matter-induced absorption and deflection in ultrafast XUV spectroscopy.

In 2020, the Government of Japan declared “2050 carbon neutral” and launched a long-term strategy to create a “virtuous cycle of economy and environment”.11 See https://www.meti.go.jp/english/policy/energy_environment/global_warming/ggs2050/index.html. Japanese firms possess many technologies that contribute to decarbonization, which is important to expand investment for Green Technology (environmental technology) development. As automobiles are major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions [1], the technological shift towards vehicle powertrain systems is an attempt to lower problems like emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides [2]. On the other hand, patent data are the most reliable business performance for applied research and development activities when investigating the knowledge domains or the technology evolution (Wand, 1997). Our paper describes a Japanese patents dataset of the vehicle powertrain systems for hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), battery electric vehicle (BEV) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV). In this paper we create a method of bombinating international patent classification (IPC) and keywords to define “green” patents in vehicle powertrains field, using patent data which were applied to Japan Patent Office recorded on EPO's PATSTAT database during 2010∼2019 year. When analyze patents, it is necessary to consider the social situation of each country including language background, we collect patents description documents (abstracts and titles) not only written in English but also in Japanese. Finally, we build a database includes 6025 green patents’ description documents and 266 patents’ holding firms. With which we then identify 3756 HEV patents, 1716 BEV patents, and 553 FCEV patents. Data about patent holding firms is also appended. The full dataset may be useful to researchers who would like to do further search like natural language processing and machine learning on patent description documents, statistical data analysis for empirical economics.

As an integral part of economic trade, energy trade is crucial to international dynamics and national interests. In this study, an international energy trade network is constructed by abstracting countries as nodes and representing energy trade relations as edges. A variety of indicators are designed in terms of networks, nodes, bilaterals, and communities to analyze the temporal and spatial evolution of the global energy trade network from 2001 to 2020. The results indicate that network density and strength have been steadily increasing since the beginning of the 21st century. It is observed that the position of the United States as the core of the international energy market is being impacted by emerging developing countries, thus affecting the existing trade balance based on topological analysis. The weighted analysis of bilateral relations demonstrates that emerging countries such as China, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia are pursuing closer cooperation. The community analysis reveals that an increasing number of countries possess strong energy trade capabilities, resulting in a corresponding increase in energy trade volumes.

The bis-benzimidazole derivative (BBM) molecule, consisting of two 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl) benzimidazole (HBI) halves, has been synthesized and successfully utilized as a ratiometric fluorescence sensor for the sensitive detection of Cu2+ based on enol–keto excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT). In this study, we strategically implement femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy and several time-resolved electronic spectroscopies, aided by quantum chemical calculations to investigate the detailed primary photodynamics of the BBM molecule. The results demonstrate that the ESIPT from BBM-enol* to BBM-keto* was observed in only one of the HBI halves with a time constant of 300 fs; after that, the rotation of the dihedral angle between the two HBI halves generated a planarized BBM-keto* isomer in 3 ps, leading to a dynamic redshift of BBM-keto* emission.

As automobiles are major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, the technological shift towards vehicle powertrain systems is an attempt to lower problems such as emissions of carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Patent data are the most reliable measure of business performance for applied research and development activities when investigating knowledge domains or technology evolution. This is the first study on Japanese patent citation data of the green vehicle powertrains technology industry, using the social network analysis method, which emphasizes centrality estimates and community detection. This study not only elucidates the knowledge by visualizing flow patterns but also provides a precious and congregative method for verifying important patents under the International Patent Classification system and grasping the trend of the new technology industry. This study detects leading companies, not only in terms of the number of patents but also the importance of the patents. The empirical result shows that the International Patent Classification (IPC) class that starts with “B60K”, which includes hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV), is more likely to be the technology trend in the green vehicle powertrains industry.

The study of feature interactions in deep neural network-based recommender systems has been a popular research area in industry and academic circles. However, the vast majority of parallel CTR prediction models do not classify the input features but instead feed them into the model. This way not only reduces the accuracy of the model but also ignores the effectiveness of learning individual feature interactions. In addition, the majority of parallel CTR prediction models only focus on the submodel intersections of their parallel models, ignoring the importance of the external intersection. To address the shortcomings, this paper proposes the CCPIN model on the basis of the XdeepFM model. In the CCPIN model, it can not only learn different category feature interactions but also learn individual feature interactions. Through the classification gate, adaptive features are maximized to improve the performance of the submodel. Through the Combine layer, the interaction of submodel results can be learned while retaining the original output. Through comparison experiments with other models on two datasets, it is demonstrated that the CCPIN model has an average increase of 0.93% in AUC and a decrease of 0.47% in Logloss compared to other models.

In this paper we introduce Commutative/Non-Commutative Logic (CNC logic) and two categorical models for CNC logic. This work abstracts Benton's Linear/Non-Linear Logic by removing the existence of the exchange structural rule. One should view this logic as composed of two logics; one sitting to the left of the other. On the left, there is intuitionistic linear logic, and on the right is a mixed commutative/non-commutative formalization of the Lambek calculus. Then both of these logics are connected via a pair of monoidal adjoint functors. An exchange modality is then derivable within the logic using the adjunction between both sides. Thus, the adjoint functors allow one to pull the exchange structural rule from the left side to the right side. We then give a categorical model in terms of a monoidal adjunction, and then a concrete model in terms of dialectica Lambek spaces.

High-spin states of 77Kr are studied via the fusion-evaporation reaction 68Zn(16O, 2p5n)77Kr with the beam energy of 80 MeV provided by the Tandem accelerator at Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). The intensity of the beam is I x 1 pnA. In the present work, some new transitions are found to constitute the new band of the proposed level scheme. To satisfy the fast operating requirements for 126-kV vacuum circuit breakers (VCBs), this paper proposes a novel monostable permanent magnet actuator (PMA) with separated magnetic circuits and investigates its optimal design method. The proposed PMA is featured with an external disc spring and an auxiliary breaking coil, which helps to realize fast breaking operation. A multistep optimization method is adopted to divide the whole optimization procedure into three suboptimizationmodules, including the optimizations of PM holding mechanism, breaking spring mechanism, and closing driving mechanism. The optimization results show that the overall performance improvements can be achieved with relatively less computer resources. Experimental results on the prototype validate the applicability of the PMA on 126-kV VCB and the effectiveness of the optimization method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The selective generation of an intense single harmonic has been experimentally achieved in argon from a long gas cell with loosely focusing optics using a three-color laser field. When compared with the single harmonic emission from a continuous gas jet, both the intensity and the purity of the selected single harmonic emission from the long gas cell show dramatic improvements; the peak intensity is more intense by as much as 1-2 orders of magnitude, while the contrast ratio (i.e., the spectral purity) is simultaneously increased by several times.
