3. Knowledge Mapping of Necroptosis From 2012 to 2021: A Bibliometric Analysis.

Background: Necroptosis, a recently discovered programmed cell death, has been pathologically linked to various diseases and is thus a promising target for treating diseases. However, a comprehensive and objective report on the current status of entire necroptosis research is lacking. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis to quantify and identify the status quo and trending issues of necroptosis research in the last decade. Methods: Articles were acquired from the Web of Science Core Collection database. We used two bibliometric tools (CiteSpace and VOSviewer) to quantify and identify the individual impact and cooperation information by analyzing annual publications, journals, co-cited journals, countries/regions, institutions, authors, and co-cited authors. Afterwards, we identified the trending research areas of necroptosis by analyzing the co-occurrence and burst of keywords and co-cited references. Results: From 2012 to 2021, a total of 3,111 research articles on necroptosis were published in 786 academic journals by 19,687 authors in 885 institutions from 82 countries/regions. The majority of publications were from China and the United States, of which the United States maintained the dominant position in necroptosis research; meanwhile, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ghent University were the most active institutions. Peter Vandenabeele published the most papers, while Alexei Degterev had the most co-citations. Cell Death & Disease published the most papers on necroptosis, while Cell was the top 1 co-cited journal, and the major area of these publications was molecular, biology, and immunology. High-frequency keywords mainly included those that are molecularly related (MLKL, TNF-alpha, NF-κB, RIPK3, RIPK1), pathological process related (cell-death, apoptosis, necroptosis, necrosis, inflammation), and disease related (cancer, ischemia/reperfusion injury, infection, carcinoma, Alzheimer's disease). Conclusion: Necroptosis research had a stable stepwise growth in the past decade. Current necroptosis studies focused on its cross-talk with other types of cell death, potential applications in disease treatment, and further mechanisms. Among them, the synergy with ferroptosis, further RIPK1/RIPK3/MLKL studies, its association with inflammation and oxidative stress and translational applications, and the therapeutic potential to treat cancer and neurodegenerative diseases are the trending research area. 4. Assessment of Short Circuit Power and Protection Systems for Future Low Inertia Power Systems

- Abstract
With the proliferated renewable energy integration and the gradual retirement of conventional generation units, power systems are experiencing significant changes in regard to the generation mix. The conventional power plants comprise large synchronous generators that naturally provide instantaneous short circuit power. The high short circuit current is of crucial importance to activate the protective relays. In contrast, renewable-based generations typically interface with the grids through power converters, whose short circuit contribution can be significantly different from that of synchronous generators both in the quality and the quantity. This Ph.D. work, as part of the Danish project “Synchronous Condenser Application in Low Inertia System (SCAPP) ”, concerns the assessment of short circuit power and protection systems for future low inertia power systems. Voltage source converters are widely utilized in the renewable energy integration. To characterize the short circuit power for future low inertia power systems, a comparison on the short circuit response between synchronous sources and voltage source converters was carried out considering the converter peak current limit and the reactive power support capability. The short circuit response of voltage source converters is significantly different from that of the synchronous sources, especially during grid unbalanced faults. For voltage source converters, the conventional synchronous reference frame control only in positive-sequence can result in distorted voltage and current outputs, and uncontrollable converter peak current. This indicates that it is necessary for voltage source converters to have current control loops in both positive- and negative-sequence. Base on the instantaneous power theory, the dual-sequence current control strategies of voltage source converters under grid unbalanced faults were reviewed aiming at the short circuit power provision. They were classified into two groups, namely power-characteristic-oriented control strategy, and voltage-support-oriented control strategy, in terms of the properties that are being directly controlled. The review also covered the inner current controllers and the design of the converter peak current limit. Through various simulations and discussions, the short circuit power from voltage source converters can be characterized by the different combinations of the positive and negative-sequence powers. In addition, the dual-sequence current controls were extended to microgrids as a case study to examine the short circuit power in a system with 100% penetration of renewable energy. To investigate the challenges brought by low inertia power systems to protection systems, a hardware-in-the-loop test platform was created integrating power system real-time simulations and protective relays into a closed loop. The platform is able to automate the relay testing under different scenarios through the bi-directional communication between Real Time Digital Simulator and MATLAB. On the transmission level, the performances of distance relays installed at a voltage source converter substation and protecting the neighboring line were explored through hardware-in-the-loop tests. It was revealed that the measuring error caused by the fault resistance will be enlarged in low inertia power systems. The occurrence of underreach and overreach problems become unpredictable due to the low short circuit current level and the non-conventional short circuit power characteristics. Synchronous condensers, as synchronous machines in principle, have the advantage of short circuit contribution. An investigation on the combined effect of voltage source converters and synchronous condensers was carried out considering the diverse dual-sequence current controls. It focused on the aspects of the combined short circuit current, the voltage at the point of common coupling, the DC-side voltage and the system frequency response during faults. In particular, it was verified through hardware-in-the-loop tests under various scenarios that the associated short circuit current interaction could jeopardize the reliability of distance relays. The investigation was concluded with suggestions on selecting the dual-sequence current control strategies when incorporating synchronous condensers. In order to analytically perform the fault analysis, a static fault analysis method was developed and verified taking the short circuit contribution from voltage source converters and their dualsequence current controls into account. The method was used to help explain a phenomenon, which has not been revealed in the literature, that the system may not have a stable response under unbalanced faults due to the negative-sequence reactive power injection. The developed fault analysis method helps to understand the impact of the short circuit contribution from voltage source converters on low inertia power systems. With the proposed method, the optimal sizes and locations of synchronous condensers for the western Danish power system of a future scenario were investigated through optimizations. The allocation results indicated that there is a need of more synchronous condensers for future low inertia power systems to maintain the system short circuit ratios.

5. Hardware-in-the-loop Tests on Distance Protection Considering VSC Fault-ride-through Control Strategies

- Abstract
The short-circuit response of a voltage source converter (VSC) can vary from each other significantly with different control strategies. This study investigates the performance of distance protection under unbalanced faults considering two control strategies during fault-ride-through using hardware-in-the-loop tests. Variations on fault type, converter current limit, fault resistance and pre-fault power flow conditions are also examined. The tests reveal that the error in measured impedance caused by fault resistance will be enlarged in a converter-dominated power system. The first control strategy tends to cause overreach problem while the second can raise both overreach and underreach problems. The indeterminacy associated with the second strategy is jointly affected by control parameters, converter current limit, fault resistance and pre-fault power flow conditions. The findings of this study can help to stipulate grid requirements under unbalanced faults.

This paper investigates the combined effect of VSC-based sources and synchronous condensers under grid unbalanced faults considering two groups of VSC fault-ride-through control strategies. It aims to provide an evaluation of typical control strategies and to explore the impact of equipping a synchronous condenser at the point of common coupling (PCC). By examining the combined short-circuit currents, PCC voltages, DC-side voltages, and system frequency responses, this study points out the merits and demerits of the examined control strategies, illustrates the benefits of synchronous condensers on mitigating the disadvantages of certain control strategies, and provides suggestions on selecting the control strategies for the VSC when incorporating a synchronous condenser at the PCC. The short circuit response of a voltage source converter (VSC) under grid unbalanced faults mainly depends on the design of its control system. Due to the limited semiconductor overload capability, the short circuit current contributed by a VSC should be restricted within the limit for each phase. This might bring up challenges to the protection system of a converter-dominated power system. This paper derives a generic converter peak current limitation method for three different VSC control strategies. The impact of the control strategies and the combined impact of a VSC with a synchronous condenser on distance protection are evaluated using a commercial relay through hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) tests. Based on the test results, we propose to avoid using constant reactive power control strategy. It poses an adverse impact on the reliability and speed of distance protection regardless of the presence of a synchronous condenser at the point of common coupling, while constant active power and balanced current control strategies favor the performances of distance protection. With an increasing demand for electric power, new transmission lines should be constructed with a rational plan in the long run to guarantee a reliable and economic operation. The transmission expansion planning (TEP) is a mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) optimization problem in nature, which requires tremendous computational efforts especially when it comes to a large-scale power system. Although a diversity of simplifications and computational techniques has been applied to TEP, it is still challenging to derive an optimal plan within little simulation time. Since equivalencing technique is able to reduce the size of a large-scale power system and help achieve remarkable computational performance, it is possibly effective and efficient to handle the intrinsic complexity of TEP problem. In this thesis, based on a detailed literature review, a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) approach in DC model is firstly formulated for a dynamic TEP problem considering N – 1 security criterion. Then, two traditional power flow based equivalencing techniques that are appropriate for simplifying TEP, REI and WARD, with necessary modifications, are respectively implemented in the initial TEP problem. The proposed algorithms are simulated on IEEE 24-bus reliability test system (RTS) to compare optimal plans between the original and equivalent system. Further assumptions and adjustments are searched and tested to get more accurate optimal plans. The results show that both modified equivalencing techniques can significantly decrease the simulation time. Regarding IEEE 24-bus RTS, the proposed algorithm for modified REI method can achieve relatively precise optimal plan with few errors while modified WARD method is not as good as modified REI method. Therefore, the modified REI method has a potential to be implemented in TEP problem to reduce the complexity and computational effort for large power system without jeopardizing accuracy. Further studies are needed to tune the modified REI method and revise the obtained optimal plan.

As an increasing amount of converter-based generation on power electronics is connected to power systems, transmission system operators are revising the grid-connection requirements to streamline the connectivity of the devices to maintain security of supply. Converter-based generation can behave significantly different from the traditional alternators under grid faults. In order to evaluate the potential impact of the future converter-based power systems on protective relays, it is necessary to consider diverse current control strategies of voltage-source converters (VSCs) under unbalanced faults as the performance of converters primarily depends on their control objectives. In this paper, current control strategies of VSCs under unbalanced faults for short-circuit power provision are reviewed in two groups, namely, power-characteristic-oriented and voltage-support-oriented control strategy, respectively. As the fault current provided by converters should be restricted within secure operation limits considering semiconductor capabilities, converter current limit issue is also discussed. This paper investigates the reactive power balance of the Zealand side of the Danish transmission system (DK2) by using QV-curves. The study is performed in cooperation with Energinet, who is the Danish transmission system operator (TSO). Firstly, this paper aims to map the reactive power balance with the current challenges in the system, which appears due to a decision of changing overhead lines in the scenic area to cables. Secondly, a method is derived for obtaining a comprehensive overview of the impacts that future projects might have on the system. By dividing the transmission system into smaller areas, it is possible to analyze how the reactive power will affect the voltage; moreover, it is favorable to analyze and handle the challenges in the reactive power balance locally. This helps the TSO to quickly determine the lack of reactive power devices and issues that might occur in future expansions of the system. For this paper, a full-scale model of DK2 and SCADA-data has been utilized. It covers the period from 01-01-2016 to 20-08-2017 between the TSO and the Distribution System Operator (DSO). Voltage source converters (VSCs) are able to provide both positive- and negative-sequence short circuit currents under unbalanced faults. Their short circuit responses can be significantly different from those of conventional synchronous generators. This paper developed a static fault analysis method by considering dual-sequence current control of VSCs under unbalanced faults where VSCs are treated as voltage-dependent current sources in both positive- and negative-sequence networks. Since the control strategy of VSCs varies, flexible parameters are included in the model to reflect their diverse short circuit behaviours. The proposed method is verified through a modified IEEE 9-bus system and a simplified western Danish power system with real time simulations. 14. Association between healthy eating index-2015 and abdominal aortic calcification among US Adults.

- Abstract
Aims: To evaluate the relationship of the healthy eating index-2015 (HEI-2015) with abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) in US adults., Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study with data extracted from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). AAC score was measured using the scoring system of Kauppila (AAC-24) and Schousboe (AAC-8). HEI-2015, which was used for evaluating compliance with Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA), was calculated through two rounds of 24-h recall interviews. HEI-2015 was categorized as inadequate (<50), average (50~70), and optimal (≥70) groups for analysis, while the AAC-24 score was grouped by whether the score was >0. Weighted multiple regression analyses were conducted to estimate the association of HEI-2015 with AAC score and the presence of AAC. Moreover, smooth curve fittings, based on a generalized additive model (GAM), were applied to evaluate a possible non-linear relationship. Sensitivity analysis and subgroup analysis were performed to provide more supporting information., Results: A total of 2,704 participants were included in the study (mean age, 57.61 ± 11.40 years; 51.78% were women). The mean score of HEI-2015 was 56.09 ± 13.40 (41.33 ± 6.28, 59.44 ± 5.54, and 76.90 ± 5.37 for inadequate, average, and optimal groups, respectively). After adjusting for covariates, higher HEI-2015 was associated with decreased AAC score (AAC-24: β = -0.121, 95% CI: -0.214, -0.028, P = 0.010; AAC-8: β= -0.054, 95% CI: -0.088, -0.019, P = 0.003) and lower risk of AAC (OR = 0.921, 95% CI: 0.855, 0.993, P = 0.031). Among the components of HEI-2015, a higher intake of fruits, greens, and beans was associated with a lower AAC score. 15. Association between dietary inflammatory index and atherosclerosis cardiovascular disease in U.S. adults.

- Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the association between dietary inflammatory index (DII) and Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) among U.S. adults., Methods: We collected data from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) between 1999 and 2018. Adults who reported complete information to diagnose ASCVD and calculate DII were included. We used three models to differentially adjust the covariates, including age, sex, race or ethnicity, education level, smoking status, poverty, insurance, body mass index, hyperlipemia, hypertension, and diabetes. Logistic regression was used to estimate the Odds Ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) for ASCVD grouped by DII deciles. We additionally conducted spline smoothing with the generalized additive model (GAM) and the log-likelihood ratio to examine the non-linear relationship between DII and ASCVD. If exists, the segmented linear regression will be used to detect the cutoff point. The subgroup analyses were stratified by various atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (i.e., CHD, angina, heart attack, and stroke) and sex., Results: A total of 48,733 participants (mean age, 47.13 ± 0.19 years) with 51.91% women were enrolled, of which 5,011 were diagnosed with ASCVD. In the crude model, participants in the five highest deciles (D6, 7, 8, 9, and 10) of DII score had a significantly higher risk of having ASCVD compared to those in the first decile. In the fully adjusted model, those in the tenth decile [OR = 1.47, 95% CI = (1.18,1.84)] of DII had a significantly increased risk of ASCVD compared to the first decile. Notably, when DII is above 3, the ASCVD risk increased by 41% for each one increase in DII [OR = 1.41, 95% CI = (1.15,1.73)]. This relationship was more pronounced in females., Conclusion: Our study revealed a positive and non-linearly association between DII and ASCVD in U.S. adults. This relationship was more pronounced in females. 16. The effect of various types and doses of statins on C-reactive protein levels in patients with dyslipidemia or coronary heart disease: A systematic review and network meta-analysis.

Objective: The objective of this study was to measure the efficacy of various types and dosages of statins on C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in patients with dyslipidemia or coronary heart disease., Methods: Randomized controlled trials were searched from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, OpenGray, and ClinicalTrials.gov. We followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines for data extraction and synthesis. The pairwise meta-analysis compared statins and controls using a random-effects model, and a network meta-analysis compared the types and dosages of statins using the Bayesian random-effects model. The PROSPERO registration number is CRD42021242067., Results: The study included 37 randomized controlled trials with 17,410 participants and 20 interventions. According to the pairwise meta-analysis, statins significantly decreased CRP levels compared to controls (weighted mean difference [WMD] = -0.97, 95% confidence interval [CI] [-1.31, -0.64], P < 0.0001). In the network meta-analysis, simvastatin 40 mg/day appeared to be the best strategy for lowering CRP (Rank P = 0.18, WMD = -4.07, 95% CI = [-6.52, -1.77]). The same was true for the high-sensitivity CRP, non-acute coronary syndrome (ACS), <12 months duration, and clear measurement subgroups. In the CRP subgroup (rank P = 0.79, WMD = -1.23, 95% CI = [-2.48, -0.08]) and ≥12-month duration subgroup (Rank P = 0.40, WMD = -2.13, 95% CI = [-4.24, -0.13]), atorvastatin 80 mg/day was most likely to be the best. There were no significant differences in the dyslipidemia and ACS subgroups ( P > 0.05). Node-splitting analysis showed no significant inconsistency ( P > 0.05), except for the coronary heart disease subgroup., Conclusion: Statins reduced serum CRP levels in patients with dyslipidemia or coronary heart disease. Simvastatin 40 mg/day might be the most effective therapy, and atorvastatin 80 mg/day showed the best long-term effect.
