Objectives: To report and analyze the pattern of maxillofacial injuries in trauma victims and to define the role of a maxillofacial surgeon in an emergency trauma care team. Materials and methods: Trauma patients reported and reporting to the casualty of a tertiaryhospital with facial injuries and other suspected concomitant injuries in the body were included in this study. The complete medical and radiographic records of each patient were reviewed and data was collected in a standard proforma in this 5-year clinical study (3 year of retrospective and 2 year of prospective study). The complete data related to the facial injuries and associated systemic trauma was recorded and statistical analysis conducted. Results: A total of 18,369 patients with trauma were admitted to the hospital from May 2018 to April 2023. Out of these, 11,277 (61.4%) were males and 7,092 (38.6%) were females. Seventy percent of the reported cases with trauma were in the age group of 14–40 years. The incidence of trauma during the monsoon season was highest (n = 7,927, 43%). The commonest etiological factor leading to trauma was road traffic accident (n = 4,510, 40%). Among facial injuries, the mandibular fractures (n = 1,821, 41%) were predominant. Conclusions: The management of polytrauma patients should be undertaken by a team of specialists which should include a maxillofacial surgeon as facial injuries were common. This data is essential in developing and assessing the preventative strategies aimed at decreasing the frequency of facial and other injuries.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of Ajwa dates pit powder (ADP) on lipid profile, body composition and blood pressure in patients with hyperlipidemia.Materials and Methods: This randomized controlled clinical study was carried out on 40 patients with total cholesterol >200 mg/dl, triglycerides >150 mg/dl and BMI >25, of either sex, aged 30-50 years, who were recruited through written consent. The patients were divided into two groups (n=20 each): the ADP and the control group (CG). All patients received the doctor’s prescribed class A statin (Rosuvastatin/ Atorvastatin) 10 mg/day, while 2.7 g ADP was given on daily basis before breakfast with lukewarm water for 40 days and the control group received the same amount of wheat flour. Since energy and its sustainability are key global issues, extensive research is currently underway to advance the emerging energy sector. Hydrogen is anticipated to assume a substantial role as a worldwide energy carrier in forthcoming energy frameworks. Oman has set an ambitious target to annually produce one million tons of green hydrogen by 2040, aspiring to become one of the leading global producers and exporters of green hydrogen. These hydrogen scenarios are integral components of the broader global energy scenarios, primarily focused on achieving decarbonization. Green hydrogen serves as a pivotal element in Oman’s pursuit of de-carbonization, as well as its economic and energy security objectives. This paper aims to accentuate the challenges associated with hydrogen development, particularly in the context of green hydrogen production, by examining both present and future advancements. It provides a comprehensive overview of the consumption, applications, and economic considerations of green hydrogen based on expert organizations’ projections. Additionally, the paper addresses key considerations pertaining to the utilization and transportation of hydrogen as compared to electricity.

The objective of this research endeavor is to examine the properties of stagnation point flow in the presence of absorption, viscous dissipation, and internal thermal generation with respect to a shrinking surface. The resulting system of differential equations is notoriously challenging to solve analytically. The equations controlling the boundary layer flow were solved using a finite difference method. The analysis includes the examination of important physical quantities through the presentation of plots and tabulated values. Our findings reveal a strong connection between the presence of solutions for high shrinking parameters and the magnetic field that was applied. Temperatures increase when there is an increase in both Ec and α at the same time. These results also suggest a shallowing of the thermal boundary layer. As a result of these findings, it appears that temperature and thermal boundary layer thickness are sensitive to changes in these factors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: There are certain reported cases of unusual displacements of teeth involved in a maxillofacial trauma to the maxillary sinus, nasal cavity, gastrointestinal tract or the airway, if worst. All these usually lead to complication the worst being death. So enquiring about them is a very essential part of surveying a maxillofacial trauma patient involving dentition. Case: This patient was referred to our department for a dental consultation for his ill-defined firm, mildly tender, non-suppurative, submental swelling unresponsive to medication. He had undergone a polytrauma involving his face two months back. An orthopantomogram was ordered which showed a lower central incisor from the fracture site had slipped through the fracture gap into the submental space possibly missed by the CT scan. There was also a lower border splaying at the fracture site. A layer-wise dissection was done extra-orally to retrieve the tooth. Conclusion: This case envisages the importance of an OPG as an adjuvant to the basic radiographic study, in the emergency room, for a patient with oral and maxillofacial trauma. It also establishes the importance of a meticulous secondary survey, including counting the number of teeth and establishing a correct occlusion to avoid a complication and re-operation. Besides, a medical negligence lawsuit can also arise as some teeth may slip to lungs even.

In this study, a new physical model has been created to look into the behaviour of transient incompressible unsteady flow between two infinite parallel plates exposed to high temperatures. The model takes into consideration thermal radiation flux, chemical reaction, and mass diffusion at the boundaries. To handle non-integer behaviour, the model incorporates the Caputo notion of time fractional derivative. To solve this complex physical fractional order fluid model, a novel optimal homotopy asymptotic method and semi-analytical methodology is extended and utilized successfully. This method provides a third-order highly approximate solution, offering valuable insights into the behaviour within the system. The study comprehensively examines the effects of varied flow characteristics and fractional order on the dynamics of the system. The results are visually presented through graphs, offering a clear understanding of the system's response under different conditions. The effectiveness and ease of use of the optimal homotopy asymptotic method make it a valuable tool for solving boundary value fractional order problems encountered in scientific fields. The developed physical model and its fractional extension contribute significantly to the understanding of unsteady flow phenomena with thermal and chemical effects, advancing knowledge in this area of research. Measles, a highly contagious viral disease, spreads primarily through respiratory droplets and can result in severe complications, often proving fatal, especially in children. In this article, we propose an algorithm to solve a system of fractional nonlinear equations that model the measles disease. We employ a fractional approach by using the Caputo operator and validate the model's by applying the Schauder and Banach fixed-point theory. The fractional derivatives, which constitute an essential part of the model can be treated precisely by using the Broyden and Haar wavelet collocation methods (HWCM). Furthermore, we evaluate the system's stability by implementing the Ulam-Hyers approach. The model takes into account multiple factors that influence virus transmission, and the HWCM offers an effective and precise solution for understanding insights into transmission dynamics through the use of fractional derivatives. We present the graphical results, which offer a comprehensive and invaluable perspective on how various parameters and fractional orders influence the behaviours of these compartments within the model. The study emphasizes the importance of modern techniques in understanding measles outbreaks, suggesting the methodology's applicability to various mathematical models. Simulations conducted by using MATLAB R2022a software demonstrate practical implementation, with the potential for extension to higher degrees with minor modifications. The simulation's findings clearly show the efficiency of the proposed approach and its application to further extend the field of mathematical modelling for infectious illnesses. Alzheimer's disease stands as one of the most widespread neurodegenerative conditions associated with aging, giving rise to dementia and posing significant public health challenges. Mathematical models are considered as valuable tools to gain insights into the mechanisms underlying the onset, progression, and potential therapeutic approaches for AD. In this paper, we introduce a mathematical model for AD that employs the fractal fractional operator in the Caputo sense to characterize the temporal dynamics of key cell populations. This model encompasses essential elements, including amyloid- β ( A β ), neurons, astroglia and microglia. Using the fractal fractional operator, we have established the existence and uniqueness of solutions for the model under consideration, employing Leray-Schaefer's theorem and the Banach fixed-point methods. Utilizing functional techniques, we have analyzed the proposed model stability under the Ulam-Hyers condition. The suggested model has been numerically simulated by using a fractional Adams-Bashforth approach, which involves a two-step Lagrange polynomial. For numerical simulations, different ranges of fractional order values and fractal dimensions are considered. This new fractal fractional operator in the form of the Caputo derivative was determined to yield better results than an ordinary integer order.
