Abstract

Base station sleeping (BSS) can result in significant reduction in energy consumption of cellular networks during low traffic conditions. We show that the coverage loss due to BSS can be compensated via coordinated multi-point (CoMP) -based transmission in a cluster of base stations. For a BSS with CoMP-based system, we propose various BSS patterns to achieve suitable trade-offs between energy savings and throughput. We formulate the CoMP resource allocation and $\alpha -$ Fair user scheduling as a joint optimization problem. We derive the optimal time fraction and user scheduling for this problem and use it to formulate a simplified BSS with CoMP optimization problem. A heuristic that solves this problem is presented. Through extensive simulations, we show that suitable trade-offs among energy, coverage, and rate can be achieved by appropriately selecting the BSS pattern, CoMP cluster, and rate threshold.

Abstract

We propose index codes, based on multidimensional QAM constellations, for the Gaussian broadcast channel, where every receiver demands all the messages from the source. The efficiency with which an index code exploits receiver side information in this broadcast channel is characterised by a code design metric called "side information gain". The known index codes for this broadcast channel enjoy large side information gains, but do not encode all the source messages at the same rate, and do not admit message sizes that are powers of two. The index codes proposed in this letter, which are based on linear codes over integer rings, overcome both these drawbacks and yet provide large values of side information gain. With the aid of a computer search, we obtain QAM index codes for encoding up to 5 messages with message sizes 2^m, m, Accepted for publication in IEEE Communications Letters. 4 pages, 2 figures, 1 table

Abstract

A novel integration scheme of solar photovoltaic (PV) with a large capacity doubly excited induction generator-based wind energy system is described. The proposed scheme uses both the grid- and rotor-side power converters of doubly fed induction generator to inject PV power into the grid. Thus, it renders a cost-effective solution to PV-grid integration by obviating the need for a dedicated converter for PV power processing. The system is able to feed significantly large PV power into the grid compared to an equivalent rating inverter used in the conventional PV-grid system. The proposed scheme prevents circulating power during subsynchronous operation during the availability of solar radiation. All these features enhance system efficiency. System stability is also augmented due to turbine inertia, facilitating high PV penetration into the power grid. The intermittent but complementary nature of solar PV and wind energy sources considerably improves the converters' utilization. Besides, the proposed scheme does not hamper maximum power point tracking of PV and wind sources except during very rarely occurring environmental glitches, which the PV power control algorithm is suitably geared to handle. A comprehensive system model is presented and used for designing the control strategy. The proposed scheme is supported by analysis, simulations, and experiments on a laboratory prototype.

Abstract

Inverter driven, inertia-less interface of a large photovoltaic (PV) source with power grid raises challenging penetration issues such as bus voltage fluctuation, active power variation, reactive power flow and poor system dynamics. Extensive efforts are underway to overcome these issues, which tend to put a limit on the maximum PV power injection capability for a given local area electric power system. This paper proposes a new control scheme that enables a centralized PV-grid system to damp out the low frequency power swings on the local area network as an ancillary activity apart from its regular function. The proposed scheme enhances the power system stability without incorporating any additional devices or systems (e. g., PSS). The analytical basis of the control law used in this scheme is derived from the structure preserving energy function (SPEF) model. A notable feature of the scheme that makes it highly feasible is that it requires only locally measurable signals. Further, it does not affect the MPPT control of the PV system in any manner. All these features make it highly relevant and suitable for smart grid applications. Relevant simulation results as well as key experimental results for a laboratory level hardware model are included.

Abstract

International audience; The synthesis, structure and magnetism of tetranuclear complexes, [Ln4(LH2)2(η1-Piv)2(η2-Piv)2(μ3-O2)2(H2O)2]·2MeOH (1, Ln = GdIII; 2,Ln = TbIII; 3, Ln = DyIII; and 4, Ln = ErIII) (LH4 = 6-((bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amino)-N′-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)picolinohydrazide) (piv = pivalate ion) are reported. Interestingly, the formation of these tetranuclear assemblies is assisted by two side-on coordinating peroxide ligands which bind in a μ3-η2:η2:η2 fashion. DC magnetic behaviour revealed the existence of a dominating but weak intramolecular antiferromagnetic interaction in the cases of 1, 2, and 4, while a small structural change in complex 3 turns this into a ferromagnetic interaction. We have investigated the magnetothermal behaviour of 1 which shows a magnetocaloric effect with the value of maximum entropy change of −ΔSm = 33.60 J K−1 kg−1 at 4 K (ΔH = 13–0 T). This is close to the calculated value of 36.45 J K−1 kg−1. The ac magnetic susceptibility study confirms zero-field out-of-phase magnetic susceptibility signals only for 3 which get well resolved on the application of a 1 kOe dc magnetic field. The energy barrier for the Orbach process of spin reversal was found to be 23 K (τ0 = 9 × 10−7 s). We also report detailed theoretical studies to rationalize and understand the observed magnetic behaviour.

Abstract

The body of vertebrate embryos forms by posterior elongation from a terminal growth zone called the tail bud. The tail bud is a source of highly motile cells that eventually constitute the presomitic mesoderm (PSM), a tissue that plays an important role in elongation movements. PSM cells establish an anterior-posterior cell motility gradient that parallels a gradient associated with the degradation of a specific cellular signal (FGF) known to be implicated in cell motility. Here, we combine the electroporation of fluorescent reporters in the PSM with time-lapse imaging in the chicken embryo to quantify cell diffusive movements along the motility gradient. We show that a simple microscopic model for random cell motility induced by FGF activity along with geometric confinement leads to rectified tissue elongation consistent with our observations. A continuum analog of the microscopic model leads to a macroscopic mechano-chemical model for tissue extension that couples FGF activity-induced cell motility and tissue rheology, and is consistent with the experimentally observed speed and extent of elongation. Together, our experimental observations and theoretical models explain how the continuous addition of cells at the tail bud combined with lateral confinement can be converted into oriented movement and drive body elongation.

Abstract

DES Collaboration: T. M. C. Abbott et al., We present the first cosmology results from large-scale structure using the full 5000 deg2 of imaging data from the Dark Energy Survey (DES) Data Release 1. We perform an analysis of large-scale structure combining three two-point correlation functions (3×2pt): (i) cosmic shear using 100 million source galaxies, (ii) galaxy clustering, and (iii) the cross-correlation of source galaxy shear with lens galaxy positions, galaxy–galaxy lensing. To achieve the cosmological precision enabled by these measurements has required updates to nearly every part of the analysis from DES Year 1, including the use of two independent galaxy clustering samples, modeling advances, and several novel improvements in the calibration of gravitational shear and photometric redshift inference. The analysis was performed under strict conditions to mitigate confirmation or observer bias; we describe specific changes made to the lens galaxy sample following unblinding of the results and tests of the robustness of our results to this decision. We model the data within the flat ΛCDM and wCDM cosmological models, marginalizing over 25 nuisance parameters. We find consistent cosmological results between the three two-point correlation functions; their combination yields clustering amplitude S8=0.776+0.017−0.017 and matter density Ωm=0.339+0.032−0.031 in ΛCDM, mean with 68% confidence limits; S8=0.775+0.026−0.024, Ωm=0.352+0.035−0.041, and dark energy equation-of-state parameter w=−0.98+0.32−0.20 in wCDM. These constraints correspond to an improvement in signal-to-noise of the DES Year 3 3×2pt data relative to DES Year 1 by a factor of 2.1, about 20% more than expected from the increase in observing area alone. This combination of DES data is consistent with the prediction of the model favored by the Planck 2018 cosmic microwave background (CMB) primary anisotropy data, which is quantified with a probability-to-exceed p=0.13–0.48. We find better agreement between DES 3×2pt and Planck than in DES Y1, despite the significantly improved precision of both. When combining DES 3×2pt data with available baryon acoustic oscillation, redshift-space distortion, and type Ia supernovae data, we find p=0.34. Abstract

Pedro H. Bernardinelli et al., We present a search for outer solar system objects in the 6 yr of data from the Dark Energy Survey (DES). The DES covered a contiguous 5000 deg2 of the southern sky with ≈80,000 3 deg2 exposures in the grizY filters between 2013 and 2019. This search yielded 812 trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), one Centaur and one Oort cloud comet, 458 reported here for the first time. We present methodology that builds upon our previous search on the first 4 yr of data. All images were reprocessed with an optimized detection pipeline that leads to an average completeness gain of 0.47 mag per exposure, as well as improved transient catalog production and algorithms for linkage of detections into orbits. All objects were verified by visual inspection and by the "sub-threshold significance," the signal-to-noise ratio in the stack of images in which its presence is indicated by the orbit, but no detection was reported. This yields a pure catalog complete to r ≈ 23.8 mag and distances 29 < d < 2500 au. The TNOs have minimum (median) of 7 (12) nights' detections and arcs of 1.1 (4.2) yr, and will have grizY magnitudes available in a further publication. We present software for simulating our observational biases for comparisons of models to our detections. Initial inferences demonstrating the catalog's statistical power are: the data are inconsistent with the CFEPS-L7 model for the classical Kuiper Belt; the 16 "extreme" TNOs (a > 150 au, q > 30 au) are consistent with the null hypothesis of azimuthal isotropy; and nonresonant TNOs with q > 38 au, a > 50 au show a significant tendency to be sunward of major mean-motion resonances., University of Pennsylvania authors have been supported in this work by grants AST-1515804 and AST-2009210 from the National Science Foundation, and grant DE-SC0007901 from the Department of Energy. Abstract

DES collaboration: et al., The DMASS sample is a photometric sample from the DES Year 1 data set designed to replicate the properties of the CMASS sample from BOSS, in support of a joint analysis of DES and BOSS beyond the small overlapping area. In this paper, we present the measurement of galaxy–galaxy lensing using the DMASS sample as gravitational lenses in the DES Y1 imaging data. We test a number of potential systematics that can bias the galaxy–galaxy lensing signal, including those from shear estimation, photometric redshifts, and observing conditions. After careful systematic tests, we obtain a highly significant detection of the galaxy–galaxy lensing signal, with total S/N = 25.7. With the measured signal, we assess the feasibility of using DMASS as gravitational lenses equivalent to CMASS, by estimating the galaxy-matter cross-correlation coefficient rcc. By jointly fitting the galaxy–galaxy lensing measurement with the galaxy clustering measurement from CMASS, we obtain rcc=1.09+0.12−0.11 for the scale cut of 4h−1Mpc and rcc=1.06+0.13−0.12 for 12h−1Mpc in fixed cosmology. By adding the angular galaxy clustering of DMASS, we obtain rcc = 1.06 ± 0.10 for the scale cut of 4h−1Mpc and rcc = 1.03 ± 0.11 for 12h−1Mpc⁠. The resulting values of rcc indicate that the lensing signal of DMASS is statistically consistent with the one that would have been measured if CMASS had populated the DES region within the given statistical uncertainty. Abstract

DES Collaboration: D. Zürcher et al., We constrain the matter density Ωm and the amplitude of density fluctuations σ8 within the ΛCDM cosmological model with shear peak statistics and angular convergence power spectra using mass maps constructed from the first three years of data of the Dark Energy Survey (DES Y3). We use tomographic shear peak statistics, including cross-peaks: peak counts calculated on maps created by taking a harmonic space product of the convergence of two tomographic redshift bins. Our analysis follows a forward-modelling scheme to create a likelihood of these statistics using N-body simulations, using a Gaussian process emulator. We take into account the uncertainty from the remaining, largely unconstrained ΛCDM parameters (Ωb, ns, and h). We include the following lensing systematics: multiplicative shear bias, photometric redshift uncertainty, and galaxy intrinsic alignment. Stringent scale cuts are applied to avoid biases from unmodelled baryonic physics. We find that the additional non-Gaussian information leads to a tightening of the constraints on the structure growth parameter yielding S8 ≡ σ8 √ Ωm/0.3 = 0.797+0.015−0.013 (68 per cent confidence limits), with a precision of 1.8 per cent, an improvement of 38 per cent compared to the angular power spectra only case. The results obtained with the angular power spectra and peak counts are found to be in agreement with each other and no significant difference in S8 is recorded. We find a mild tension of 1.5σ between our study and the results from Planck 2018, with our analysis yielding a lower S8. Furthermore, we observe that the combination of angular power spectra and tomographic peak counts breaks the degeneracy between galaxy intrinsic alignment AIA and S8, improving cosmological constraints. Abstract

DES Collaboration: A. Amon et al., This work, together with its companion paper, Secco, Samuroff et al. [Phys. Rev. D 105, 023515 (2022)], present the Dark Energy Survey Year 3 cosmic-shear measurements and cosmological constraints based on an analysis of over 100 million source galaxies. With the data spanning 4143 deg2 on the sky, divided into four redshift bins, we produce a measurement with a signal-to-noise of 40. We conduct a blind analysis in the context of the Lambda-Cold Dark Matter (ΛCDM) model and find a 3% constraint of the clustering amplitude, S8≡σ8(Ωm/0.3)0.5=0.759+0.025−0.023. A ΛCDM-Optimized analysis, which safely includes smaller scale information, yields a 2% precision measurement of S8=0.772+0.018−0.017 that is consistent with the fiducial case. The two low-redshift measurements are statistically consistent with the Planck Cosmic Microwave Background result, however, both recovered S8 values are lower than the high-redshift prediction by 2.3σ and 2.1σ (p-values of 0.02 and 0.05), respectively. The measurements are shown to be internally consistent across redshift bins, angular scales and correlation functions. The analysis is demonstrated to be robust to calibration systematics, with the S8 posterior consistent when varying the choice of redshift calibration sample, the modeling of redshift uncertainty and methodology. Similarly, we find that the corrections included to account for the blending of galaxies shifts our best-fit S8 by 0.5σ without incurring a substantial increase in uncertainty. We examine the limiting factors for the precision of the cosmological constraints and find observational systematics to be subdominant to the modeling of astrophysics. Abstract

To study the topographic distribution of the short posterior ciliary arteries (SPCA) entry sites into the choroid in normal eyes using structural en-face swept source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT). Retrospective analysis of SS-OCT scans (wide-field structural SS-OCT 12 × 12 mm) of 13 healthy subjects was performed. Cross-sectional swept-source OCT scans derived from a volume scan were represented as en-face image display following the Choroid-Scleral Interface to obtain en-face OCT. SPCAs in their last scleral location before choroidal entrance were identified manually, counted and localized by two masked observers. Correlations between two masked observers were analyzed using inter- and intra-class correlation. Accuracy for the choroidal inner and outer border segmentation was 95–99%. Eighteen eyes from 13 normal subjects were included for SPCA analysis. The mean number of arteries was 13.8 ± 3.5 per eye. Thirty-six percent were in the center of the posterior pole image; however, 21% were in the temporal part of the posterior pole. Median accuracy of the detection is 0.94. The correlation between the two observers was fair (0.54). Our algorithm allows visualization of the SPCA at the posterior pole of the eye using wide-field en-face SS-OCT. It can also help the clinicians to study the SPCAs in numerous ocular diseases, particularly its relationship with focal choroidal diseases.

Abstract

Andrade-Oliveira, F., et al. (DES Collaboration), We perform an analysis in harmonic space of the Dark Energy Survey Year 1 Data (DES-Y1) galaxy clustering photometric data using products obtained for the real-space analysis. We test our pipeline with a suite of lognormal simulations, which are used to validate scale cuts in harmonic space as well as to provide a covariance matrix that takes into account the DES-Y1 mask. We then apply this pipeline to DES-Y1 data taking into account survey property maps derived for the real-space analysis. We compare with real-space DES-Y1 results obtained from a similar pipeline. We show that the harmonic space analysis we develop yields results that are compatible with the real-space analysis for the bias parameters. Abstract

Muir, J., et al. (DES Collaboration), We analyze Dark Energy Survey (DES) data to constrain a cosmological model where a subset of parameters - focusing on ωm - are split into versions associated with structure growth (e.g., ωmgrow) and expansion history (e.g., ωmgeo). Once the parameters have been specified for the ΛCDM cosmological model, which includes general relativity as a theory of gravity, it uniquely predicts the evolution of both geometry (distances) and the growth of structure over cosmic time. Any inconsistency between measurements of geometry and growth could therefore indicate a breakdown of that model. Our growth-geometry split approach therefore serves both as a (largely) model-independent test for beyond-ΛCDM physics, and as a means to characterize how DES observables provide cosmological information. We analyze the same multiprobe DES data as [Phys. Rev. Lett. 122, 171301 (2019)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.122.171301]: DES Year 1 (Y1) galaxy clustering and weak lensing, which are sensitive to both growth and geometry, as well as Y1 BAO and Y3 supernovae, which probe geometry. We additionally include external geometric information from BOSS DR12 BAO and a compressed Planck 2015 likelihood, and external growth information from BOSS DR12 RSD. We find no significant disagreement with ωmgrow=ωmgeo. When DES and external data are analyzed separately, degeneracies with neutrino mass and intrinsic alignments limit our ability to measure ωmgrow, but combining DES with external data allows us to constrain both growth and geometric quantities. We also consider a parametrization where we split both ωm and w, but find that even our most constraining data combination is unable to separately constrain ωmgrow and wgrow. Abstract

International audience; Spoken dialogue systems typically use one or several (top-N) ASR sequence(s) for inferring the semantic meaning and tracking the state of the dialogue. However, ASR graphs, such as confusion networks (confnets), provide a compact representation of a richer hypothesis space than a top-N ASR list. In this paper, we study the benefits of using confusion networks with a neural dialogue state tracker (DST). We encode the 2-dimensional confnet into a 1-dimensional sequence of embed-dings using a confusion network encoder which can be used with any DST system. Our confnet encoder is plugged into the 'Global-locally Self-Attentive Dialogue State Tacker' (GLAD) model for DST and obtains significant improvements in both accuracy and inference time compared to using top-N ASR hypotheses .

Abstract

Conversational and task-oriented dialogue systems aim to interact with the user using natural responses through multi-modal interfaces, such as text or speech. These desired responses are in the form of full-length natural answers generated over facts retrieved from a knowledge source. While the task of generating natural answers to questions from an answer span has been widely studied, there has been little research on natural sentence generation over spoken content. We propose a novel system to generate full length natural language answers from spoken questions and factoid answers. The spoken sequence is compactly represented as a confusion network extracted from a pre-trained Automatic Speech Recognizer. This is the first attempt towards generating full-length natural answers from a graph input(confusion network) to the best of our knowledge. We release a large-scale dataset of 259,788 samples of spoken questions, their factoid answers and corresponding full-length textual answers. Abstract

This paper investigates data compression that simultaneously allows local decoding and local update. The main result is a universal compression scheme for memoryless sources with the following features. The rate can be made arbitrarily close to the entropy of the underlying source, contiguous fragments of the source can be recovered or updated by probing or modifying a number of codeword bits that is on average linear in the size of the fragment, and the overall encoding and decoding complexity is quasilinear in the blocklength of the source. In particular, the local decoding or update of a single message symbol can be performed by probing or modifying a constant number of codeword bits. Abstract

A new ternary telluride, Ba3ScTe5, with a pseudo-one-dimensional structure, was synthesized at 1173 K by standard solid-state methods. A single-crystal X-ray diffraction study at 100(2) K shows the structure to be modulated. The structure of the subcell of Ba3ScTe5 crystallizes with two formula units in the hexagonal space group D6h3-P63/mcm with unit cell dimensions of a = b = 10.1190(5) A and c = 6.8336(3) A. The asymmetric unit of the subcell structure consists of four crystallographically independent sites: Ba1 (site symmetry: m2m), Sc1 (-3.m), Te1 (m2m), and Te2 (3.2). Its structure is made up of chains of ∞1[ScTe33-] that are separated by Ba2+ cations. The Sc atoms are bonded to six Te1 atoms that form a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. The structure of the subcell also contains linear infinite chains of Te2 with intermediate Te···Te interactions. The superstructure of Ba3ScTe5 is incommensurate and was solved in the hexagonal superspace group P-6(00γ)0 with a = 10.1188(3) A and c = 6.8332(3) A and a modulation vector of q = 0.3718(2)c*. The arrangement and coordination geometries of the atoms in the superstructure are very similar to those in the substructure. However, the main difference is that the infinite chains of Te atoms in the superstructure are distorted owing to the formation of long- and short-bonded pairs of Te atoms. The presence of these chains with intermediate Te···Te interactions makes assignment of the formal oxidation states arbitrary. The optical absorption study of a polycrystalline sample of Ba3ScTe5 that was synthesized by the stoichiometric reaction of elements at 1173 K reveals a direct band gap of 1.1(2) eV. The temperature-dependent resistivity study of polycrystalline Ba3ScTe5 shows semiconducting behavior corroborating the optical studies, while density functional theory calculations report a pseudo band gap of 1.3 eV.

Abstract

International audience; We hereby report a dinuclear Dy(iii) complex, [Dy(LH)Cl]·2EtO (1) (LH = 2,3-dihydroxybenzylidene)-2-(hydroxyimino)propanehydrazide where both the metal centres are in a pentagonal bipyramidal (PBP) geometry with the axial positions being occupied by negatively charged Cl ions. The complex as well as it's 10% diluted analogue (1) do not show zero-field SMM behaviour. However, in the presence of small optimum dc fields the slow relaxation of magnetization was displayed. The effective energy barrier for 1 at 800 Oe of applied field was extracted as 83(17) K with τ = 2(4) × 10 s. Through a combined experimental and ab initio electronic structure calculations studies we have thoroughly analysed the role of the ligand field around the Dy(iii), present in pentagonal bipyramidal geometry, in contributing to the slow relaxation of magnetization.

Abstract

We present constraints on extensions of the minimal cosmological models dominated by dark matter and dark energy, $\Lambda$CDM and $w$CDM, by using a combined analysis of galaxy clustering and weak gravitational lensing from the first-year data of the Dark Energy Survey (DES Y1) in combination with external data. We consider four extensions of the minimal dark energy-dominated scenarios: 1) nonzero curvature $\Omega_k$, 2) number of relativistic species $N_{\rm eff}$ different from the standard value of 3.046, 3) time-varying equation-of-state of dark energy described by the parameters $w_0$ and $w_a$ (alternatively quoted by the values at the pivot redshift, $w_p$, and $w_a$), and 4) modified gravity described by the parameters $\mu_0$ and $\Sigma_0$ that modify the metric potentials. We also consider external information from Planck CMB measurements; BAO measurements from SDSS, 6dF, and BOSS; RSD measurements from BOSS; and SNIa information from the Pantheon compilation. Constraints on curvature and the number of relativistic species are dominated by the external data; when these are combined with DES Y1, we find $\Omega_k=0.0020^{+0.0037}_{-0.0032}$ at the 68% confidence level, and $N_{\rm eff}, Comment: 22 pages, 7 figures, matches the published version

Abstract

We use data from the first-year (Y1) observations of the DES collaboration to measure the galaxy angular power spectrum (APS), and search for its BAO feature using a template-fitting method. We test our methodology in a sample of 1800 DES Y1-like mock catalogs. The APS is measured with the pseudo-$C_\ell$ method, using pixelized maps constructed from the mock catalogs and the DES mask. The covariance matrix of the $C_\ell$'s in these tests are also obtained from the mock catalogs. We use templates to model the measured spectra and estimate template parameters firstly from the $C_\ell$'s of the mocks using two different methods, a maximum likelihood estimator and a MCMC, finding consistent results with a good reduced $\chi^2$. Robustness tests are performed to estimate the impact of different choices of settings used in our analysis. After these tests on mocks, we apply our method to a galaxy sample constructed from DES Y1 data specifically for LSS studies. Abstract

We define and characterise a sample of 1.3 million galaxies extracted from the first year of Dark Energy Survey data, optimised to measure Baryon Acoustic Oscillations in the presence of significant redshift uncertainties. The sample is dominated by luminous red galaxies located at redshifts $z \gtrsim 0.6$. We define the exact selection using color and magnitude cuts that balance the need of high number densities and small photometric redshift uncertainties, using the corresponding forecasted BAO distance error as a figure-of-merit in the process. The typical photo-$z$ uncertainty varies from $2.3\%$ to $3.6\%$ (in units of 1+$z$) from $z=0.6$ to $1$, with number densities from $200$ to $130$ galaxies per deg$^2$ in tomographic bins of width $\Delta z = 0.1$. Next we summarise the validation of the photometric redshift estimation. We characterise and mitigate observational systematics including stellar contamination, and show that the clustering on large scales is robust in front of those contaminants. We show that the clustering signal in the auto-correlations and cross-correlations is generally consistent with theoretical models, which serves as an additional test of the redshift distributions., Comment: 15 pages, 12 figures. Abstract

International audience; We study incomplete stochastic systems that are missing some parts of their design, or are lacking information about some components. It is interesting to get early analysis results of the requirements of these systems, in order to adequately refine their design. In previous works, models for incomplete systems are analysed using model checking techniques for three-valued temporal logics. In this paper, we propose statistical model checking algorithms for these logics. We illustrate our approach on a case-study of a network system that is refined after the analysis of early designs.

Abstract

International audience; YCrO3 (YCO) perovskite has been originally reported to be a biferroic with antiferromagnetic and ferroelectric (FE) properties, in which the origin of FE in YCO remains ambiguous. However, further studies reveal the presence of a global orthorhombic Pnma structure with a local structural heterogeneity. In this study, we discuss the high temperature phonon modes and their inter-relation to local structural distortions in YCO perovskite through Raman spectroscopy experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. We observe that the Raman active B3g(3) out of phase scissor mode (SM) disappears above the dielectric transition temperature (T c) commensurate with the local structural distortions. DFT calculations show that the transformation of a room temperature Y-cation distorted orthorhombic structure to a perfect orthorhombic structure above the dielectric transition temperature in which the Y cation is undisplaced could lead to the conversion of SM with symmetry B3g to Raman inactive B1u mode.

Abstract

International audience; We report the N−H/H−Si cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) of hydrosilanes and amines with high conversion (>90 %) and chemoselectivity for the production of silazanes, using group 1 metal hexamethyldisilazides [MN(SiMe3)2] (M=Li, Na, K) as precatalysts under mild conditions. [KN(SiMe3)2] showed higher activity than the congeneric lithium and sodium salts. The catalyzed CDC reaction displays a broad substrate scope. Phenylsilane and diphenylsilane react with a number of amines under ambient conditions; more elevated temperature is required for triphenylsilane to undergo CDC reactions. The intermediate lithium complex [(THF)2Li-{N(SiHPh2)(Dipp)}] (1) has been isolated and characterized in an attempt to identify the operative reaction mechanism.

The Gut-Brain Axis (GBA) is a crucial link between the gut microbiota and the central nervous system. Xenobiotics, originating from diverse sources, play a significant role in shaping this interaction. This review examines how these compounds influence neurotransmitter dynamics within the GBA. Environmental pollutants can disrupt microbial populations, impacting neurotransmitter synthesis-especially serotonin, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and dopamine pathways. Such disruptions affect mood regulation, cognition, and overall neurological function. Xenobiotics also contribute to the pathophysiology of neurological disorders, with changes in serotonin levels linked to mood disorders and imbalances in GABA and dopamine associated with anxiety, stress, and reward pathway disorders. These alterations extend beyond the GBA, leading to complications in neurological health, including increased risk of neurodegenerative diseases due to neuroinflammation triggered by neurotransmitter imbalances. 30. Enhanced wound healing properties by sodium alginate-carboxymethyl cellulose hydrogel enriched with decellularized amniotic membrane.

Abstract

Skin, as the primary interface with the external environment, is susceptible to damage, posing a formidable challenge for complete restoration in adult skin injuries. Wound healing remains a clinical challenge, necessitating advanced biomaterials to support cell proliferation, modulate inflammation, and combat infections. Among several options, hydrogel can be a capable contender for biological dressings. Here, we developed and evaluated a novel hydrogel composed of sodium alginate (SA) and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), enriched with decellularized extracellular matrix of amniotic membrane (dAM), using calcium chloride (CaCl 2 ) as a crosslinker. An incorporation of dAM imparted biomimetic qualities, as evidenced by SEM, showing a fibrous extracellular matrix-like structure. Rheological studies demonstrated the optimal viscosity of SA-CMC-dAM for cell proliferation and adhesion, overcoming limitations of SA and CMC alone. The hydrogel exhibited the highest moisture absorption (12.27±0.59 %) and enhanced hydrophilicity, as confirmed by the contact angle assay, ensuring suitability for wound applications. Biological assessments revealed superior fibroblast migration in scratch assays and significant anti-biofilm activity (∼70 % reduction in E. coli biofilms) alongside antimicrobial efficacy, supported by FDA/PI assays. The zebrafish embryo studies validated its biocompatibility (20 μg/ml) and demonstrated potent anti-inflammatory effects, with a marked reduction in neutrophil recruitment (∼25 %) in tail transection models compared to controls. These findings suggest that the SA-CMC-dAM hydrogel synergises structural, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a promising candidate for wound healing applications. 31. Interlayer Ions Control Spin Canting in Low-Dimensional Manganese Trimers in 12R-Ba 4 M Mn 3 O 12 ( M = Ce, Pr) Layered Perovskites.

Abstract

To synthetically target a specific material with select performance, the underlying relationship between structure and function must be understood. For targeting magnetic properties, such understanding is underdeveloped for a relatively new class of layered hexagonal perovskites, the 12R-Ba 4 M Mn 3 O 12 family. Here, we perform a detailed magnetostructural study of the layered hexagonal perovskite materials 12R-Ba 4 M Mn 3 O 12 , where M = diamagnetic Ce 4+ or paramagnetic J eff ≈ 1/2 Pr 4+ . The material with M = Ce 4+ is an antiferromagnet below T N ≈ 7.75 K, while the material with M = Pr 4+ exhibits more complex behavior, with a net moment below 200 K and a sharp peak in the susceptibility at T N ≈ 12.15 K. Guided by the susceptibility data, we conduct variable-temperature powder neutron diffraction measurements to determine the magnetic structure of these two materials. The introduction of a magnetic interlayer cation cants the spins in the Mn 3 O 12 trimers out of plane. We further characterize the crystal and electronic structures in these compounds using powder X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption spectroscopy measurements coupled with first-principles theoretical calculations. The resulting detailed picture of the magnetic, crystal, and electronic structure will be useful for understanding the magnetism in similar 12R hexagonal perovskites and related materials.

Abstract

This Letter reports a search for charge-parity (CP) symmetry violating nonstandard interactions (NSI) of neutrinos with matter using the NOvA Experiment, and examines their effects on the determination of the standard oscillation parameters. Data from ν&#95;{μ}(ν[over ¯]&#95;{μ})→ν&#95;{μ}(ν[over ¯]&#95;{μ}) and ν&#95;{μ}(ν[over ¯]&#95;{μ})→ν&#95;{e}(ν[over ¯]&#95;{e}) oscillation channels are used to measure the effect of the NSI parameters ϵ&#95;{eμ} and ϵ&#95;{eτ}. With 90% CL the magnitudes of the NSI couplings are constrained to be |ϵ&#95;{eμ}|≲0.3 and |ϵ&#95;{eτ}|≲0.4. A degeneracy at |ϵ&#95;{eτ}|≈1.8 is reported, and we observe that the presence of NSI limits sensitivity to the standard CP phase δ&#95;{CP}.

33. Synthesis and Characterization of Monolayer Colloidal Sheets.

Abstract

Sheet-like colloidal assemblies represent model systems to investigate the structure and properties of two-dimensional materials. Here, we report a simple yet versatile method for the preparation of colloidal monolayer sheet-like assemblies that affords control over the size, crystalline order, flexibility, and defect density. The protocol that we report relies on self-assembly of colloids as a sessile drop of dispersion is evaporated on an oil-covered substrate. In this case, the contact line continually moves as the drop shrinks. Polyethyleneimine polymer-covered micrometer-sized colloidal particles are transported to the air-water interface and assemble to form a monolayer sheet as the drop dries. Cross-linking the polymer renders the colloidal assembly permanent. Interestingly, monodisperse colloidal particles form disordered assemblies when dried from low concentration dispersions, while polycrystalline ordered assemblies form at higher concentrations. We demonstrate that increasing the cross-linker to polymer ratio decreases the flexibility of the assembly. Introduction of different-sized colloidal particles in a sheet leads to increased disorder. Removal of sacrificial particles from the sheet allowed the introduction of "holes" in the sheets. Thus, these colloidal sheets are models for probing the effects of disorder, doping, and vacancies in two-dimensional systems.

34. Laser Spectroscopic Characterization of Supersonic Jet-Cooled 2,6-Diazaindole (26DAI).

Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive laser spectroscopic characterization of a nitrogen-rich indole derivative, namely, 2,6-diazaindole (26DAI), in the gas phase. A supersonic jet-cooled molecular beam of 26DAI was characterized using two-color resonant two-photon ionization (2C-R2PI) and laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy (LIF) to investigate the electronic excitation. The S 1 ← S 0 origin transition was obtained at 33915 cm -1 , which was red-shifted from that of one (indole) and two (7-azaindole) nitrogen-containing indole derivatives by 1317 and 713 cm -1 , respectively. The molecular orbital and energy analysis for the S 1 ← S 0 transition shows the significant stabilization of LUMO on subsequent N-insertion, resulting in the lowering of the S 1 ← S 0 (ππ*) transition energy. The single vibronic level fluorescence spectrum from the vibrationless S 1 state of the molecule was recorded. The spectrum displayed an extensive Franck-Condon activity until 2500 cm -1 for the vibrational modes of the S 0 state of the 26DAI molecule. The experimental ground state vibrational frequencies were compared to the calculated ones obtained at three different levels of theories. More accurate results were found at DFT B3LYP-D4 than those at the wave function-based MP2 and CCSD levels of theories. Further, the N-H stretching frequency of 26DAI in the S 0 state was measured at 3524 cm -1 using fluorescence-dip infrared (FDIR) spectroscopy. The stability of 26DAI against ionization radiation was probed by measuring the two-color photoionization energy (IE 2P ) of 26DAI at 71866 cm -1 . The IE 2P value is significantly higher than those of N-poor counterparts (indole and 7-azaindole). The NBO charges and spin density (SD) values of the 26DAI molecule have shown that electronegative N(6) makes the cationic ground state less stable due to the position of the positive centers on the N atom. The results provided insights into the stability of N-rich biomolecules against photodamage. The current investigation can shed light on nature's way of stabilizing biomolecules with a possible N-insertion mechanism.

Abstract

The hydrogen-bonded docking preferences of small solvent molecules on 2-(2'-pyridyl)-benzimidazole (PBI) were studied experimentally aided by computational findings. The PBI-S 1,2 complexes (S = H 2 O, CH 3 OH, and NH 3 ) were produced in a supersonically jet-cooled molecular beam and probed using resonant two-photon ionization and laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy, with multiple isomers confirmed by UV-UV hole-burning spectroscopy. Two distinct isomers of PBI-H 2 O and PBI-(H 2 O) 2 complexes were identified, while PBI-CH 3 OH and PBI-NH 3 each formed a single 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 complex. Computational results with experimental findings revealed PBI-S-a as the most stable structure, with a solvent molecule forming a hydrogen-bonded bridge between imidazolyl-NH (N I H) and pyridyl-N (N P ) at site-a. The site-a isomers exhibit higher S 1 state stability compared to the S 0 state, resulting in red-shifted S 0 → S 1 band origin for PBI-S-a and a further red-shift for the PBI-(S) 2 -aa isomers. In contrast, the PBI-S-b isomer, with a hydrogen bond between imidazolyl-N (N I ) and pyridyl-CH (C P H) at site-b opposite to site-a, showed a blue-shifted band origin transition. A unique PBI-(H 2 O) 2 -ab isomer was detected with solvent molecules bound at both sites a and b, displaying a smaller red-shift in the band origin transition than the aa-isomer. The energy barrier for solvent-to-chromophore proton transfer varies with isomeric configuration. PBI-H 2 O-b isomers show significantly higher barriers (>800 cm -1 ), while PBI-(H 2 O)-aa has a slightly increased barrier (>436 cm -1 ) compared to the PBI-H 2 O-a (420 ± 10 cm -1 ) isomer. This study explores the potential landscape of PBI, enhancing our understanding of stabilization effects, spectral shifts, and their impact on chromophore excited-state dynamics in various environments.

Abstract

Biological systems are robust and redundant. The redundancy can manifest as alternative metabolic pathways. Synthetic double lethals are pairs of reactions that, when deleted simultaneously, abrogate cell growth. However, removing one reaction allows the rerouting of metabolites through alternative pathways. Little is known about these hidden linkages between pathways. Understanding them in the context of pathogens is useful for therapeutic innovations. We propose a constraint-based optimisation approach to identify inter-dependencies between metabolic pathways. It minimises rerouting between two reaction deletions, corresponding to a synthetic lethal pair, and outputs the set of reactions vital for metabolic rewiring, known as the synthetic lethal cluster. We depict the results for different pathogens and show that the reactions span across metabolic modules, illustrating the complexity of metabolism. Finally, we demonstrate how the two classes of synthetic lethals play a role in metabolic networks and influence the different properties of a synthetic lethal cluster., (© 2024. The Author(s).)

Abstract

Driver distraction, crucial for road safety, can benefit from multimodal physiological signals assessment. However, fusion of heterogeneous data is highly challenging. In this study, we address this challenge by exploring 1D convolution neural network (CNN) with squeeze and excitation networks (SEcNN) on multimodal data. For this, electrocardiogram (256Hz) and respiration (128Hz) are obtained from subjects (N=10) while using textile electrodes and driving in different scenarios namely normal, texting and calling. The obtained multimodal data is preprocessed and SEcNN to identify driver distraction. Experiments are performed using Leave-one-out-subject cross validation. The proposed approach is able to discriminate drivers distraction. It is observed that SEcNN yields average accuracy 57.03% and average F1 score 54.90% for shorter segments. Thus, the proposed approach using wearable shirts could be useful for non-intrusive monitoring in real world driver scenarios.

Abstract

Near-infrared (NIR) phototherapies offer noninvasive, cost-effective solutions for treating tumors and microbial infections. However, organic NIR dyes commonly used suffer from solubility and stability issues requiring frequent dosing. We address this challenge by exploring the bacteriophage-mediated enhancement of NIR dye properties. Upon encapsulation within phage nanosomes, IR780 and Indocyanine green (ICG), with similar optical properties but distinct water solubility and exhibit enhanced UV-vis absorbance and photothermal transduction efficacy compared to liposomes. Experimental characterization corroborated with all-atom molecular dynamics simulations imprints the nanoscale structure, solubility, dynamics, and binding of these NIR dye molecules to the membrane and protein molecules present in Phage capsid. These NIR dye-loaded phage nanosomes, coencapsulated with mitoxantrone, demonstrate enhanced anticancer activity, and when combined with amphotericin B, these dye molecules exhibit superior photothermal effects against fungal infections. Our findings present a simple and efficient approach for tuning the photothermal performance of existing NIR dyes through a rational design for enhanced therapeutic outcomes.

Abstract

Aims: To identify peri- and post-menopausal women at risk of non-communicable diseases in rural India and to assess their prevalence amongst these groups via the use of artificial intelligence., Settings and Design: An observational study conducted by the Indian Menopause Society in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra. The study included rural women residents of three villages in the Latur district of Maharashtra, India., Materials and Methods: Accredited social health activist workers identified 400 peri- and post-menopausal women aged 45-60 years. Specific symptoms able to predict the presence of a non-communicable disease were identified through the use of artificial intelligence., Statistical Analysis Used: Descriptive statistics and predictive network charts analysis., Results: The mean age of 316 women included in the analysis was 50.4 years and the majority of them were illiterate (68 %). The prevalence of dyslipidaemia, osteopenia, diabetes mellitus, obesity and hypertension were 58 %, 50 %, 25 %, 25 %, and 20 % respectively. None of their symptoms or laboratory reports could be significantly correlated directly with any of these non-communicable diseases. 40. Spectroscopic Characterization of Hydrogen-Bonded 2,7-Diazaindole Water Complex Isolated in the Gas Phase.

Abstract

We present a systematic experimental analysis of the 1:1 complex of 2,7-diazaindole (27DAI) with water in the gas phase. The complex was characterized by using two-color-resonant two-photon ionization (R2PI), laser-induced fluorescence (LIF), single vibronic level fluorescence (SVLF), and photoionization efficiency (PIE) spectroscopic methods. The 0 0 0 band of the S 1 ←S 0 electronic transition of the 27DAI-H 2 O complex was observed at 33,074 cm -1 , largely red-shifted by 836 cm -1 compared to that of the bare 27DAI. From the R2PI spectrum, the detected modes at 141 (ν' Tx ), 169 (ν' Ty ), and 194 (ν' Ry ) cm -1 were identified as the internal motions of the H 2 O molecule in the complex. However, these modes were detected at 115 (ν″ Tx ), 152 (ν″ Ty ), and 190 (ν″ Ry ) cm -1 in the ground state, which suggested a stronger hydrogen bonding interaction in the photo-excited state. The structural determination was aided by the detection of ν NH and ν OH values in the ground and excited state complexes using the FDIR and IDIR spectroscopies. The detection of ν NH at 3414 and ν OH at 3447 cm -1 in 27DAI-H 2 O has shown an excellent correlation with the most stable structure consisting of N(1)-H···O and OH···N(7) hydrogen-bonded bridging water molecule in the ground state. The structure of the complex in the electronic excited state (S 1 ) was confirmed by the corresponding bands at 3210 (ν NH ) and 3265 cm -1 (ν OH ). The IR-UV hole-burning spectroscopy confirmed the presence of only one isomer in the molecular beam. The ionization energy (IE) of the 27DAI-H 2 O complex was obtained as 8.789 ± 0.002 eV, which was significantly higher than the 7AI-H 2 O complex. The higher IE values of N-rich molecules suggest a higher resistivity of such molecules against photodamage. The obtained structure of the 27DAI-H 2 O complex has explicitly shown the formation of a cyclic one-solvent bridge incorporating N(1)-H···O and O-H···N(7) hydrogen bonds upon microsolvation. The lower excitation and higher ionization energies of the 27DAI-H 2 O complex compared to 7AI-H 2 O established higher stabilization of N-rich molecules. The solvent clusters forming a linear bridge between the hydrogen/proton acceptor and donor sites in the complex can be considered as a stepping stone to investigate the photoinduced deactivation mechanisms in nitrogen containing biologically relevant molecules.

Abstract

Cancer represents a complex disease category defined by the unregulated proliferation and dissemination of anomalous cells within the human body. According to the GLOBOCAN 2020 report, the year 2020 witnessed the diagnosis of approximately 19.3 million new cases of cancer and 10.0 million individuals succumbed to the disease. A typical cell eventually becomes cancerous because of a long-term buildup of genetic instability and replicative immortality. Telomerase is a crucial regulator of cancer progression as it induces replicative immortality. In cancer cells, telomerase inhibits apoptosis by elongating the length of the telomeric region, which usually protects the genome from shortening. Many nanoparticles are documented as being available for detecting the presence of telomerase, and many were used as delivery systems to transport drugs. Furthermore, telomere homeostasis is regulated by the circadian time-keeping machinery, leading to 24-hour rhythms in telomerase activity and TERT mRNA expression in mammals. This review provides a comprehensive discussion of various kinds of nanoparticles used in telomerase detection, inhibition, and multiple drug-related pathways, as well as enlightens an imperative association between circadian rhythm and telomerase activity from the perspective of nanoparticle-based anticancer therapeutics.

Then, the most recent literature (2018-2023) available in scientific databases reporting advances in 3D-printed patient-specific devices for dental and maxillofacial applications is critically discussed, focusing on the major outcomes, material-related details, and potential clinical advantages., Results: The recent application of 3D-printed customized devices in oral prosthodontics, implantology and maxillofacial surgery, periodontics, orthodontics, and endodontics are presented. Abstract

Molecular Property Diagnostic Suite (MPDS) was conceived and developed as an open-source disease-specific web portal based on Galaxy. MPDS COVID-19 was developed for COVID-19 as a one-stop solution for drug discovery research. Galaxy platforms enable the creation of customized workflows connecting various modules in the web server. The architecture of MPDS COVID-19 effectively employs Galaxy v22.04 features, which are ported on CentOS 7.8 and Python 3.7. MPDS COVID-19 provides significant updates and the addition of several new tools updated after six years. Tools developed by our group in Perl/Python and open-source tools are collated and integrated into MPDS COVID-19 using XML scripts. Our MPDS suite aims to facilitate transparent and open innovation. Abstract

Mechanical properties of the tissue engineering scaffolds are known to play a crucial role in cell response. Therefore, an understanding of the cell-scaffold interactions is of high importance. Here, we have utilized discrete fiber network model to quantitatively study the micromechanics of fibrous scaffolds with different fiber arrangements and cross-linking densities. We observe that localized forces on the scaffold result in its anisotropic deformation even for isotropic fiber arrangements. We also see an exponential decay of the displacement field with distance from the location of applied force. This nature of the decay allows us to estimate the characteristic length for force transmission in fibrous scaffolds. Furthermore, we also looked at the stiffness sensing of fibrous scaffolds by individual cells and its dependence on the cellular sensing mechanism. For this, we considered two conditions- stress-controlled, and strain-controlled application of forces by a cell. With fixed strain, we find that the stiffness sensed by a cell is proportional to the scaffold's 'macroscopic' elastic modulus. However, under fixed stress application by the cell, the stiffness sensed by the cell also depends on the cell's own stiffness. In fact, the stiffness values for the same scaffold sensed by the stiff and soft cells can differ from each other by an order of magnitude. Abstract

The birefringent nature of the human cornea plays an important role in comprehending its structural behavior in both diseased and surgical conditions. During corneal transplantation, irregular astigmatism is a common post-surgical complication that depends on the characteristics of suturing. Four human cadaver corneas are subjected to an in-vitro model of a typical full-thickness penetrating keratoplasty (PK) procedure using 16 simple interrupted 10-0 vicyrl sutures. The birefringence of these four corneas is analyzed using digital photoelasticity and compared with the control cornea (without PK). It is found that the sutures and their mutual interaction influence the morphology of the peripheral birefringence of the cornea. The findings of the present investigation are pertinent to intraoperative suture management during PK. Results suggest conserving the typical diamond-shaped morphology of peripheral birefringence would ensure uniform distribution of sutures. 47. A comprehensive review of 3D cancer models for drug screening and translational research.

Abstract

The 3D cancer models fill the discovery gap of 2D cancer models and play an important role in cancer research. In addition to cancer cells, a range of other factors include the stroma, density and composition of extracellular matrix, cancer-associated immune cells (e.g., cancer-associated fibroblasts cancer cell-stroma interactions and subsequent interactions, and a number of other factors (e.g., tumor vasculature and tumor-like microenvironment in vivo) has been widely ignored in the 2D concept of culture. Despite this knowledge, the continued use of monolayer cell culture methods has led to the failure of a series of clinical trials. This review discusses the immense importance of tumor microenvironment (TME) recapitulation in cancer research, prioritizing the individual roles of TME elements in cancer histopathology. The TME provided by the 3D model fulfills the requirements of in vivo spatiotemporal arrangement, components, and is helpful in analyzing various different aspects of drug sensitivity in preclinical and clinical trials, some of which are discussed here. Furthermore, it discusses models for the co-assembly of different TME elements in vitro and focuses on their synergistic function and responsiveness as tumors. This approach was compatible with a large variety of substrates and functional groups, and it was remarkably tolerated with unprotected maleimide.

49. StressNet: a spatial-spectral-temporal deformable attention-based framework for water stress classification in maize.

Abstract

In recent years, monitoring the health of crops has been greatly aided by deploying highthroughput crop monitoring techniques that integrate remotely captured imagery and deep learning techniques. Most methods rely mainly on the visible spectrum for analyzing the abiotic stress, such as water deficiency in crops. In this study, we carry out experiments on maize crop in a controlled environment of different water treatments. We make use of a multispectral camera mounted on an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle for collecting the data from the tillering stage to the heading stage of the crop. A pre-processing pipeline, followed by the extraction of the Region of Interest from orthomosaic is explained. We propose a model based on a Convolution Neural Network, added with a deformable convolutional layer in order to learn and extract rich spatial and spectral features. These features are further fed to a weighted Attention-based Bi-Directional Long Short-Term Memory network to process the sequential dependency between temporal features. Finally, the water stress category is predicted using the aggregated Spatial-Spectral-Temporal Characteristics. The addition of multispectral, multi-temporal imagery significantly improved accuracy when compared with mono-temporal classification. By incorporating a deformable convolutional layer and Bi-Directional Long Short-Term Memory network with weighted attention, our proposed model achieved best accuracy of 91.30% with a precision of 0.8888 and a recall of 0.8857. 50. Selective Targeting of Lung Cancer Cells with Methylparaben-Tethered-Quinidine Cocrystals in 3D Spheroid Models.

Abstract

The development and design of pharmaceutical cocrystals for various biological applications has garnered significant interest. In this study, we have established methodologies for the growth of the methylparaben-quinidine cocrystal (MP-QU), which exhibits a well-defined order that favors structure-property correlation. To confirm the cocrystal formation, we subjected the cocrystals to various physicochemical analyses such as powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD), Raman, and IR spectroscopy. The results of the XRD pattern comparisons indicated no polymorphisms, and density functional theory (DFT) studies in both gaseous and liquid phases revealed enhanced stability. Our in silico docking studies demonstrated the cocrystal's high-affinity binding towards cancer-specific epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), Janus kinase (JAK), and other receptors. Furthermore, in vitro testing against three-dimensional (3D) spheroids of lung cancer (A549) and normal fibroblast cells (L929) demonstrated the cocrystal's higher anticancer potential, supported by cell viability measurements and live/dead assays. Interestingly, the cocrystal showed selectivity between cancerous and normal 3D spheroids.
