Although the Web, cell phone ‘apps’ and cloud computing put a world of information at our fingertips, that information is under constant threat from cyber vandals and hackers. While awareness of information threats is growing in the Western world, in places like Saudi Arabia, information security is very poor. Unlike Western pluralistic democracies, Saudi Arabia is a highly-censored country, with a patriarchical and tribal culture, which may influence its poor information security rating. This paper examines the level of information security awareness (ISA) among the general public in Saudi Arabia, using an anonymous online survey, based on instruments produced by the Malaysian Cyber Security Organization and KPMG. The survey attracted 633 respondents and the results confirmed that ISA in Saudi Arabia is quite low. Several of the areas of weakness in ISA appear to be related to the level of censorship or the patriarchical and tribal nature of Saudi culture. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

This work considers maintaining materialized view in a distributed environment where the collaboration from highly autonomous operational database management systems is limited to granting read only access on a set of selected relational tables. In addition, due to possibly large volumes of remote source data involved in the view maintenance process, and consequently enormous overhead associated with data transfer, efficiency issues must been taken into the consideration. This proposal is based on the observation that usually, there is a large amount of static data in relational tables. It is proposed to use some statistical techniques at data warehouse system to helps us understand the essential characteristics of raw data at remote sites. Abstract

A digital frequency multiplexing (DfMUX) system has been developed and used to tune large arrays of transition edge sensor (TES) bolometers read out with SQUID arrays for mm-wavelength cosmology telescopes. The DfMUX system multiplexes the input bias voltages and output currents for several bolometers on a single set of cryogenic wires. Multiplexing reduces the heat load on the camera’s sub-Kelvin cryogenic detector stage. In this paper we describe the algorithms and software used to set up and optimize the operation of the bolometric camera. The algorithms are implemented on soft processors embedded within FPGA devices operating on each backend readout board. The result is a fully parallelized implementation for which the setup time is independent of the array size. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
