29. Robot Path Planning Based on Improved A* Algorithm

Abstract

Due to the characteristic that A* algorithm takes a long time when traversing an OPEN table and a CLOSED table, an improved method is proposed that is a new way of array storing in an OPEN table and a CLOSED table. Compared to the original A* algorithm, the way of array storing accesses the array elements by locating the number ranks each time you visit a specified element, which can be done by only one operation. The original A* algorithm requires the traverse of multiple nodes in order to find a specified element. The experimental results show that the comparison of the improved A* algorithm with the original A* algorithm shows that the operating efficiency is improved by more than 40%. Based on the improved A* algorithm the method preserves the advantages of the original A* algorithm, improving the operating efficiency of A* algorithm.

45. Analytical Study of a Circular Thin Plate Contacting with an Elastic Sphere.

Abstract

The problem that is addressed here is that of a circular thin plate clamped peripherally with frictionless contact to an elastic sphere. A complete and effective solution to this problem is developed to describe the relationship between the contact force and the relative penetration. Analysis of the contact stress and surface displacements of the plate and the sphere is carried out. Comparison of the results with the Hertz theory indicates that the former predicts relative penetration with more accuracy, which indicates that the Hertz theory is not applicable to the elastic sphere in contact with the circular thin plate with a large deformation. In addition, the results of the theoretical model show good agreement with the ANSYS simulation results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Propellant Gauging is of vital importance to a spacecraft at the end of its life. Based on the Monte Carlo Method, uncertainty analysis and the improvement of propellant gauging using gas injection have been studied. As a result of the analysis, the gauging uncertainty has weak relation to the uncertainties of the volumes of the injection room and tank, the uncertainties of the pressure, and the temperature in the injection room. Relatively, the uncertainties of the temperature and pressure in the tank have a great effect on the gauging uncertainty. By improving the uncertainties of the tank pressure and temperature within 0.04% and 0.4%, the final gauging uncertainty can be obtained within 0.4%. Ground tests have been conducted and the results came out with approximately 0.4% error, well within the theoretical analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

50. A new efficient algorithm for multi-scale rough surfaces contact mechanics

Abstract

Traditional multi-scale rough surfaces contact algorithms face both computation accuracy and efficiency problems. In this paper, we present a new efficient algorithm, Sliding Window based Gauss-Seidel Algorithm under BEM framework to solve the problems. We slide a window of small size on the contact region to reduce linear equation dimensions. After investigating the influence coefficient matrix, we find that the deformation is only influenced by the pressures around, so our algorithm will be very accurate. By taking the Persson Model results as the baseline to compare all kinds of numerical methods, our algorithm performs better than the conventional algorithms in both accuracy and efficiency.
