The high creep strength and high radiation resistance of nanostructured ferritic alloys (NFAs) have been generally attributed to the high-density precipitation of (O, Y)-core nano-clusters and nano-oxides. In this work, the early-stage nucleation of (O, X)-core (X = La, Ce, and Hf) nano-clusters (NCs) with respect to (O, Y)-core NCs in multi-element micro-alloyed NFAs was investigated using first-principles calculations. Their competitive precipitation preference and possible growth sequence were predicted. The (O–O) pair was suggested as the most fundamental core of all types of NCs. Yttrium always has the strongest affinity with the (O–O) pairs to initiate the nucleation of NCs during the early-stage nucleation. Under the absence or depletion of yttrium, other types of (O, X)-core (X = La, Ce, Hf) structures could form, leading to different nucleation paths with the preference ordering of (O, La)-core > (O, Ce)-core > (O, Hf)-core. NC nucleation and composition in NFAs would, thus, strongly depend on the number availabilities of micro-alloying solute species in the neighborhood of the (O–O) pairs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The introduction of defects in graphene will affect the mechanical and electrical properties of the composite interface. We investigate the effect of Stone–Wales (S-W), single-vacancy (S-V), and double-vacancy (D-V) defects on interface properties of copper/graphene/copper (Cu/Gr/Cu) sandwich models using the first-principles study. The results indicate that most defects forming in the Cu/Gr/Cu interface have lower formation energy than that in the free graphene slab. The introduction of defects is beneficial to enhance interface bonding while decreasing electrical properties due to electron scattering. By analyzing the differential charge density of all the Cu/Gr/Cu models with defects, we show that the defects cause changes in electron distribution and facilitate charge transfer between graphene and adjacent copper layers by altering the atomic layer distance. Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is the severe form of non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease which has a high potential to progress to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, yet adequate effective therapies are lacking. Hypoadiponectinemia is causally involved in the pathogenesis of MASH. This study investigated the pharmacological effects of adiponectin replacement therapy with the adiponectin‐derived peptide ALY688 (ALY688‐SR) in a mouse model of MASH. Human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell‐derived hepatocytes were used to test cytotoxicity and signaling of unmodified ALY688 in vitro. High‐fat diet with low methionine and no added choline (CDAHF) was used to induce MASH and test the effects of ALY688‐SR in vivo. Histological MASH activity score (NAS) and fibrosis score were determined to assess the effect of ALY688‐SR. Transcriptional characterization of mice through RNA sequencing was performed to indicate potential molecular mechanisms involved. In cultured hepatocytes, ALY688 efficiently induced adiponectin‐like signaling, including the AMP‐activated protein kinase and p38 mitogen‐activated protein kinase pathways, and did not elicit cytotoxicity. Administration of ALY688‐SR in mice did not influence body weight but significantly ameliorated CDAHF‐induced hepatic steatosis, inflammation, and fibrosis, therefore effectively preventing the development and progression of MASH. Mechanistically, ALY688‐SR treatment markedly induced hepatic expression of genes involved in fatty acid oxidation, whereas it significantly suppressed the expression of pro‐inflammatory and pro‐fibrotic genes as demonstrated by transcriptomic analysis. ALY688‐SR may represent an effective approach in MASH treatment. The past two decades have seen significant advances in how users interact with machines. Yet nowadays, people are increasingly paying attention to developing new control terminals and interfaces regarding communication between humans and robots, special equipment, or the virtual world. Wearable haptic interfaces offer more comfortable and realistic interactive experiences in human-machine touch and satisfy people’s needs beyond simply controlling objects. They are now applied in various areas, including health, education, virtual reality, object detection, etc... The passage briefly introduces some familiar wearable haptic interfaces, including hand-worn, vest-worn, and foot-worn devices. And then the advantages and disadvantages of the mentioned wearable devices will also be discussed. This passage will provide an overview of the current technology in wearable haptic interfaces and help people understand the strengths and weaknesses of the devices for different body parts.

Recently, low‐temperature wearable strain sensors, referring to those working at sub‐zero temperatures, are attracting increasing attentions. However, the fabrication of low‐temperature strain sensors with large working ranges, high sensitivity, and good stability remains a major challenge. In this study, a novel low‐temperature wearable strain sensor is fabricated by depositing the silver nanoplates (Ag NPs)/carbon nanotubes (CNTs) composite onto a cured silicone (DS) substrate that is constructed by using a 3D printing technology. The synergistic effect of the Ag NPs with positive temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) and the CNTs with negative TCR enable the Ag NPs/CNTs/DS strain sensor's TCR value (−1.16 × 10−5 K−1) to approach zero. The Ag NPs/CNTs/DS strain sensor demonstrates a high gauge factor over a large working range (0–100%) and fast response and recovery rates. Simultaneously, the Ag NPs/CNTs/DS strain sensor displays outstanding reproducibility and long‐term stability at −40 °C as well as excellent temperature cycling resistance under cyclic temperature of −40 to 60 °C. The Ag NPs/CNTs/DS strain sensor is further validated by incorporating into a wireless sensing system for remotely monitoring various human activities at −40 °C. Efficient sign layouts play a crucial role in guiding driving in underground construction caverns and enhancing transportation safety. Previous studies have primarily focused on evaluating drivers' gaze behavior in tunnels to optimize individual traffic sign layouts. However, the lack of a theoretical framework for visual perception of visual capture and information conveyed by sign groups hinders the measurement of drivers' comprehensive visual perception and the layout optimization of sign groups. To address this gap, this study introduces a calculation method for sign group information volume and a visual cognition model, establishing a comprehensive evaluation approach for sign group visual cognition. Eye movement data, collected using eye-tracking technology, were utilized to evaluate the comprehensive visual perception and optimize the layout of sign groups. The findings indicate that a low information volume fails to enhance recognition ability and alleviate the psychological burden. Conversely, excessive information may result in overlooking signs positioned on the left and top. Furthermore, drivers are unable to improve cognitive efficiency and driving safety even with self-regulation when faced with an information volume exceeding 120 bits within a 100 m span. Overall, this study demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method in promoting the long-term safety effect of temporary signage layouts in underground construction areas. Individual differences in drug response have always existed in clinical treatment. Many non‐genetic factors show non‐negligible impacts on personalized medicine. Emerging studies have demonstrated epigenetic could connect non‐genetic factors and individual treatment differences. We used systematic retrieval methods and reviewed studies that showed individual factors' impact on DNA methylation of drug metabolism genes. In total, 68 studies were included, and half (n = 36) were cohort studies. Six aspects of individual factors were summarized from the perspective of personalized medicine: parental exposure, environmental pollutants exposure, obesity and diet, drugs, gender and others. The most research (n = 11) focused on ABCG1 methylation. The majority of studies showed non‐genetic factors could result in a significant DNA methylation alteration in drug metabolism genes, which subsequently affects the pharmacokinetic processes.
