Metasurfaces have become increasingly crucial in applications involving electromagnetic beam modulation. Herein, an H-shaped terahertz (THz) metasurface based on vanadium dioxide (VO2) is proposed to achieve an equal reflectivity amplitude of approximately 0.7 and a phase difference of 180° when VO2 is in the insulating and metallic states, with the deviation less than 0.3%. The distribution of the electromagnetic field indicates that the constant amplitude inversion phenomenon is caused by the mode change from three-quarter wavelength resonance to surface plasmon resonance. The proposed metasurface unit has a minimum size of 26.6 µm, which reduces the cost of fabrication. Additionally, five feasible size-designing schemes are proposed, in which the amplitude varies in a narrow range of 0.675–0.685 with a phase difference of 180°, solving the potential problem of dimensional distortion caused by manufacturing process limitations. Background: PD-1 inhibitors have been approved for the first-line treatment of patients with advanced gastric cancer, gastroesophageal junction cancer, or esophageal adenocarcinoma. However, the results of several clinical trials are not entirely consistent, and the dominant population of first-line immunotherapy for advanced gastric/gastroesophageal junction cancer still needs to be precisely determined. Objective: This objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapy in advanced gastric/gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma patients through a systematic review and meta-analysis of relevant clinical trials. Method: The PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library electronic databases were searched up to August 1, 2022, for clinical trials of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapy for the first-line treatment of advanced gastroesophageal cancer. Hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals for overall survival, progression-free survival, and objective response rates were extracted and pooled for meta-analysis. Prespecified subgroups included the following: agent type, PD-L1 expression, and high microsatellite instability. Results: This study analyzed 5 RCTs involving 3,355 patients. Compared with the chemotherapy group, the combined immunotherapy group had a significantly higher objective response rate (OR = 0.63, 95% CI: 0.55–0.72, p < 0.00001) and prolonged overall survival (HR = 0.82, 95% CI: 0.76–0.88, p < 0.00001) and progression-free survival (HR = 0.75, 95% CI: 0.69–0.82, p < 0.00001). The combination of immunotherapy and chemotherapy prolonged OS in both MSI-H (HR = 0.38, p = 0.002) and MSS (HR = 0.78, p < 0.00001) populations, but there was a significant difference between groups (p = 0.02). However, in improving ORR, the benefit of ICI combined with chemotherapy in the MSS group and MSI-H group was not significantly different between groups (p = 0.52). Combination therapy with ICIs was more effective than chemotherapy alone in prolonging OS in the subgroup with a high CPS, regardless of the CPS cutoff for PD-L1. However, when the cutoff of CPS was 1, the difference between subgroups did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.12), while the benefit ratio of the MSI-H group was higher when the cutoff was 10 (p = 0.004) than when the cutoff value was 5 (p = 0.002). Conclusions: For first-line treatment of advanced gastroesophageal cancer, an ICI combination strategy is more effective than chemotherapy. The subgroup of patients with a CPS ≥10 has a more significant benefit, and CPS ≥10 has the potential to be used as an accurate marker of the dominant population of immuno-combined therapy. Oyster fossils are some of the most common bivalve mollusk fossils found all over the world, they are different from other fossils because the oyster is still alive in the present day, and the body structure of modern oyster is almost the same as that of ancient one. Therefore, we designed a control experiment comparing the Raman spectra of minerals from both modern oysters and fossil oysters to explore the mechanism of oyster's fossilization process, which is considered to be helpful for investigating biological evolution or paleoenvironment. The oyster fossil sample was found in Nagi-Cho, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. We focused on the variations of band position and full width half-maximum of ν1 Raman band (symmetric stretching mode) of calcite (CaCO3) from modern and fossil oysters and the mineral conversion between calcite and aragonite (CaCO3) around the adductor muscle inside the oyster. Compared to modern oysters, the ν1 band at around 1086 cm−1 of calcite from oyster fossils shifted to a high wavenumber region, and the possible reason for this phenomenon is considered an elemental substitution between Ca2+ and Mg2+. As for aragonite around adductor muscle in fossil oysters, it has been found by Raman spectra that most of the aragonite has been converted into calcite because calcite has a relatively more stable structure. Background: Urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) promotes the in vivo invasive growth of HCC cells by cleaving and activating matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) to induce the destruction of the extracellular matrix of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells. The identification of microRNAs that target uPA and decrease uPA expression would be useful for attenuating the in vivo invasive growth of TNBC cells.Materials and methods: MicroRNA-645 (miR-645) was identified using an online tool (miRDB) as potentially targeting uPA; miR-645 inhibition of uPA was confirmed by western blot experiments. The effects of miR-645 on the in vivo invasive growth of TNBC cells were examined using an intrahepatic tumor model in nude mice, and the miR-645 mechanism of action was explored with MMP cleaving experiments.Results: Through virtual screening, we discovered that miR-645 potentially targeted the uPA 3' untranslated region. This targeting was confirmed by western blot experiments and miR-645 lentiviral particle (LV-645) transduction that inhibited uPA expression in MDA-MB-231 TNBC cells. The LV-645 inhibition of uPA led to the decreased invasive growth of TNBC cells in nude mice. The mechanism data indicated that the uPA inhibition resulted in a decreased cleaving of the pro-MMP-9 protein.Conclusion: Targeting uPA with miR-645 decreased the in vivo invasive growth of TNBC cells. China recently implemented a "Green Mine" policy focused on promoting the filling method, aiming to mitigate the environmental impacts of underground mining; nevertheless, quantitative inventories have rarely been provided to support or negate such promotion, especially from a life-cycle perspective. Accordingly, this paper proposes a bottom-up model for estimating life-cycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from underground metal mines using either filling or caving methods. Two filling-based (Luohe and Longtangyan) and two caving-based (Maogong and Xiaowanggou) iron mines were studied; their direct GHG emissions were 0.576, 0.278, 2.130, and 1.425 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per kiloton-extracted ore (t CO2 eq/kt), respectively. When indirect GHG emissions were considered, the results increased to 17.386, 15.211, 5.554, and 5.602 t CO2 eq/kt, respectively. In contrast to popular belief, such results demonstrate that promoting the filling method can potentially raise the overall GHG emissions. Although filling-based projects generate less direct GHG emissions, the emissions are transferred to upstream sectors, especially the cement and power sectors. The additional electricity consumption in the haulage and backfilling stages is primarily responsible for the greater GHG emissions occurring in filling-based projects. Some mitigation approaches are suggested, such as backfilling the subsidence pit, using industrial waste as cementing materials, employing energy-efficient pumps, and further developing hauling systems.
